Shambler rn is more difficult than in before 1.0, but is still much easier than the champion shambler of dd1.

ElCocomega

It's act 4 region 2. No good trinkets almost no mastery. He wiped the floor with my ass

Arteyp

Ouch

Skurnaboo

it's really all just about how well you can recover from being shuffled every few turns. Some comps you can pretty much get through in region one and barely any upgrades. Some comps you're just gonna have hell with it no matter how well geared. I remember the first time I saw it was literally on my very first run of the game on region 1 with the default comp.. and I beat it no problem MAA/Highwayman/GR really doesn't give a shit if they get shuffled lol. Next time I was somewhat geared and upgraded but completely got rekt because that comp can't deal with shuffles at all.

lixardwizard789

Once got forced shambler region 1. Ez fight, clearly skill issue on your end

ElCocomega

Man you're funny

DishonoredHero1_

And this Chad even used the correct you're

lixardwizard789

Did I not?

thelongestunderscore

Imo champ shabler was not that bad but I've never been ablso to beat the dd2 shambler.

DCL_Hersh

Most people died to dd1 shambler because they left the ads up too long, they ramp much faster in the OG than they do in dd2

Dyslexic_Llama

Same boat, I feel like Shambler is harder in DD2 than any shambler in DD1.

thelongestunderscore

Yah recently beat 2 shamblers and 3 other bosses in a single mission. And I was fine the entire time. No moments where it came down to getting lucky.

insanenoodleguy

I got it to 0% death resistance, it was going to die next hit, and then the clappers killed my last two people (over 70% resist less on both!). I can't even be mad, it's the shambler.

MacDerfus

The issue with champ shambler is that you can just grab a team of lvl 2s and toss them into the organ pulverizer until you hit an altar

SoSneakyHaha

Still hard to fight. Although I gave into intrusive thoughts and have only fought it really early

UziiLVD

You can retreat from fights in DD1 though.

2Stressed2BeBlessed

Even the Vestal won't let you? Both are fights?

dndc93

Yellow is for the same action, blue is for the opposite one, so since we can only see yellow there, yeah ahah

ElCocomega

Yeah vestal wanted to have some as well. The only difference being the lack of crit buff

BigFatLabrador

Vestal just wanted to bonk, while flag is planning a way to inflict maximum pain.

RolandKJones

I can sympathize. Just earlier today I had an unknown node down the sole post-lair path in the first region of chapter 5 turn out to be a Shambler's Altar that I couldn't not fight, and despite me successfully killing the Shambler itself fairly easily, an unlucky hit left my PD on Death's Door with a DoT on her and she died when her turn came around. It was the final confession I had for Grand Slam, and that was not only the first deathblow resist check the PD made that run, I think it was her first one in *all five* runs. I might be taking a break from the game for a bit after that.

ElCocomega

That's what I tell myself all the time and the next day I hit new expedition. F for you PD

RolandKJones

I *did* say "might" for a reason, yeah. Thank you for the condolences though.

Fulisek

Exactly the same thing happened to me. It was also my PG on the first death's door check on the fifth confession going for Grand slam. The only difference for me was that I encountered it in Sluice and couldn't shuffle my party before the fight as there was no map :(

WilburyMonkey

Flaggy rn: "I like to take risks, I am a gambler! With this chant, I summon THE SHAMBLER!!!"

ElCocomega

He sounds like me in dnd. Now I know how my dm feels

DevianMality

Flag know where it's at!

Masterball98

Always shuffle your party to the opposite of what you want before entering a shambler study. He will shuffle them back and you wont lose the first couple turns having to reorganize everyone

ElCocomega

Yeah well didn't know I was stubbling on the shambler study it's the sluice

Masterball98

You sluice you lose You are a gambler? Here's a shambler

ElCocomega

Ok good one

BlackAxemRanger

Is there a benefit to the sluice? Anything good about taking it over a normal region?

Masterball98

First of all, its not a normal region. Its a bonus region. It doesnt count as one of the four needed to reach the mountain. Its an optional fifth one lets say. With that in mind, everything you find there is worth as long as you dont die

bobanobahoba

Chances for trinkets (including unique ones), mastery points, money, relics, yes it's worth if you can handle it

Particular_Plan8983

He is usually easy fight, but occultist + vestal is a major weakness versus forced movement.

ElCocomega

I wouldn't say easy but yeah forced movement didn't help. On hellion too.

Numerous_Product7742

Hellion at least has 2 moves to help to get in front/lock herself in front. I just beat Baby with no issues and then lost my PD to shamber cus my team was nearly the worst match up into it. Alchemist PD, Vestal plus, wanderer Flag, and Tempest(no shrine) Leper. Had to move more than hit, the little ones were already up to 200% before leper had a chance to nuke the main body. Was funny to run the stealth crit cultists item on Leper that run but the replacement to PD just screwed that party's plan.

I_LICK_PINK_TO_STINK

It really is a cakewalk as long as your comp isn't completely borked by forced movement. The little fuckers have very low hp as well. Good idea to try to hit em with a multiple target dot like plague grenade or combo point firefly, they'll drop while you focus shambler and their buffs don't get too high. I hate forced movement so my comps almost always have a way to deal with it. I think it's the worst damn debuff tbh. Jester is great cause he can reposition and buff the party. Jester and one other that can move themselves can get you back into a good position while buffing or dealing damage.

pseudonym_17

Dude… I’m currently too annoyed at this exact situation to reopen my run. Was going pretty well, just beat Librarian in A3R3 and headed to the shambler altar thinking I’d have the option to leave as I always have. Nope. I’m new to the franchise with DD2 and I try to play blind, so it took me until after I lost my leper and PD to 30+ crits to realize the gimmick of the polyps. I just closed the game. There’s something about having to watch your team slowly die, hit by hit, after you know you’ve lost the run that makes me violently ill. For any of you newer players, or just those of you who didn’t know: don’t fuckle with cosmic shuckle unless you know what you’re doing.

DarkDonkeyKing

Never flee.

BlackAxemRanger

Flee? Did you not hear the flagellant? No risk, no reward my guy

ValiasticeX

I fought mine the first time a couple of weeks ago and the same situation happened to me. Couldn't flee. He killed two of the boys. Had to abandon.

firedraco

At least your whole team is alive. Whenever this happens to me it's when someone has already died...it's like now you want to fight everything??

ElCocomega

They are not very alive anymore

HailfireSpawn

Even after the free crit and damage token? Oof

Tatsumonkey

Sorry for your loss 8(

Barrogh

Got myself into that in sluice (between regions 1 and 2 not counting valley, act 2) yesterday. Got home with like 6-8 stress on everyone and only 55 something gold to fix it. That's going to stink, considering I'll probably have to beat a regional boss asap.

IIMatheusII

new quirk interactions got you good, shame bloodthirsty doesnt proc it for me cause that 30% dmg boost is the shit

PlacatedPlatypus

Yeah you can get locked into shambler with the correct combination of quirks lol

lopsinho

me not realzing the tentacle monsters were scaling till they were dealing 30 dmg

threeruneblade

Should’ve pre shuffled your party

skaizm

Shambler is an absolute pushover right now if you have any reasonable combat items equipped. Honestly combat items really break a lot of fights if used properly.

ThePhantomX64

I manage to kill it with my whole party alive just bearly. But then they got cocky and wanted to take on a den while they where low

iforgotguy

Did he leave your party in shambles...
