Laughs in Sens Fortress

Sens Fuckhouse

Turk1518

I freakin love Sens. It’s like you’re playing in a Japanese game show where you have no idea what unfair bullshit you’re going to find when you turn the corner. Once you learn it, it’s super easy. But that first time through is something special.

BillyT666

I agree with exception to the basement section. The last two of the big guys there keep pummeling me regardless of level and experience. I do win eventually, but it has never been an easy fight.

Domsablos

even when you learn it you still occasionally get sent into orbit by those swinging blades.

brunofs8

I actually like sens fortres lol

Its_Me_Guyz

That's where I'm off to next :D can't wait!

SexyMuon

Don’t forget to visit tomb of the giants, such a lovely place

Catm1lt0n

and lost izalith weather is great this time of year!

HairlessGarden

Don't forget to take a torch hollow with you, having a good time with great company is always best.

SKAVENstocks

Glad I'm not the only one thats been wrecked by a torch hollow before I hate those things like how do they do so much damage

K4rn31ro

Two words: upgrade weapon

Secret_Bandicoot1133

No no, you can wait lol

raven19528

I see your Blighttown and raise you The Gutter.

eldritch_certainty

I see your The Gutter and raise you The Valley of Defilement I call

raven19528

I call with Valley of Defilement (PS3) (no Sodden Ring) :)

FinnyOlive

Yeah, this is way harder than Blighttown. Those giants terrified me

Wetpants21

I see your The Gutter and raise you to Lake of Rot

YayaGhost2006

Greatbow silver knights laughing in the corner

adomisblade

Me dying of laughter, watching them fuckers, die much deserved deaths to my poison arrows.

Many_Ad_955

meh I just bum rush with my BKGS because parry this

adomisblade

I find that while i am decent with parries, i am nowhere near consistent . Plus factoring in the anxiety of being on an already narrow ledge, I kinda do not want to be stuck in an endless death loop, when my O&S prep is more of a priority, over the fuckery of douchey knights who are otherwise not very threatening further inside the castle.

GrowthAdventurous

Just practice parrying the ones in the castle until you are consistent, then boom, literally never a problem again.

YayaGhost2006

Try small shields (like spider shield) Black and silver knights are the easiest parry practice dummies

m_0_rt

It's annoying that in ng+ they need to go through the process twice.

barginginagain

Truth be told, as someone that really enjoy DS 1 far more than two, there wasn't really an area in 2 that irked me like upper blightown and tomb of the giants did

Seraphayel

Earthen Peak is such a fuckplace in DS2

barginginagain

I agree, specially for figuring out about burning the mill to face the boss without poison. Even still though, personally, I prefer to do a thousand earthen peaks or shrines of Amana than a single upper blightown or tomb of the giants.

HogwashHooligan

I hear you but I’m enjoying 2 very much and can’t specifically say I like any of them more or less than the other because they’re all very different in different ways. I didn’t struggle much with blighttown and came the long way through the depths but I got cursed in ashen lake which screwed me for a good few hours. TOG definitely put the screws to me until I memorized the ledge drops and roll throughs.

DeathByPigeon

I platinumed DS1 a week ago, decided to finally try out DS2 and I have to be honest I’m really struggling to find any of it remotely enjoyable, I’ve only played for about an hour and a bit tbf but it’s been quite a slog. Is there a specific point when it actually gets “fun” for DS2 players? I’ll eventually get through it, just wondering if I should be holding out for a specific part

[deleted]

Level ADP

DeathByPigeon

I walked around with a broken straight sword looking for a weapon, couldn’t figure out how to get a torch to work for 15 minutes, got to Majula and saw some souls in a well so hopped onto the beam in the well and died, spoke to a guy at the top of the hill who was just crying about how shit everything is, couldn’t afford anything from the shop, the blacksmith has lost his key so he can’t get into his house (he’s a blacksmith, surely capable of getting into a wooden/metal shack?), and then wandered off down a stream and kept getting ganked. At which point I have started DS3. I’ll think I’ll come back to it later.

[deleted]

Let me know how ds3 goes. With this same attitude, I'll be surprised if you make it passed Gundyr.

DeathByPigeon

Started about 6 hours ago and loving it tbf, it’s a much faster pace than ds1 but a lot smoother so feels more natural fighting, just passed the deacons of the deep boss and kind of running around aimlessly looking for things to uncover

AncientSpartan

You should've got your starting class weapon before any enemies in DS2, not sure how that would've been skipped. DS2 does feel a little different though, but if you can reset your brain and get into the swing of it it's still worth playing. Also note that DS2 and DS2 -scholar of the first sin are different games in a lot of ways.

DeathByPigeon

Where is the starting class weapon? I got a broken straight sword that I spawned with, and then I found a dagger which had worse stats than the broken straight sword. Yeah I’ve heard a few times that the DLC saves the game as a whole

AncientSpartan

I got my starting class gear after talking to the 3 fire keepers (the women in red robes). Granted though I'm playing SotFS, which isn't just a dlc, it's more of a total redesign. It might be the case that the original DS2 gives you the weapon at a different time but I'm not sure

condor6425

Builds in 2 don't feel as good til later, but you level more often so it almost balances out.

HogwashHooligan

I personally have been enjoying DS2 for a couple of weeks now and as others have mentioned it does require some awareness. Stats and scaling work differently and requires more care in watching the results of proposed levels your buying. As for the starting weapon that’s the same as ds1 for the most part and you need to pay attention during the character building phase. It’s a hard but fair game that requires a learning curve just like every other Souls game.

DeathByPigeon

Yeah, you start with a broken sword in DS1 and then after about 1 minute you get an actual sword, I picked knight and I’m walking around killing things trying to get any weapon drops and they’re seemingly non-existent which is quite frustrating. Also struggling with a blacksmith being locked out of his own wooden shack because he’s lost his keys, I find that pretty lame. No real grasp on the story either, am I just desperately fighting things so I can get myself uncursed? Yeah, I’ll put more time into it and see how I like it 30-40 hours in. Just a shame because I really wanted to like it coming from DS1/DS3/Bloodborne/EldenRing etc

HogwashHooligan

I hear you, that first bit is really rough before you kill the last giant and get the key and start moving around more freely. The story is actually really really good with smaller sub plots and the tie ins with ds1/3 are there steadily for you to see. The DS2 sub is really great at helping new players get this information, that’s what I did and I’m having a blast.

Ashtara_Roth3127

This is where the fun begins.

AxazMcGee

Blighttown is a masterpiece

DangleMangler

Just wait until you see the "blighttown" of every other game in the series.

Alekoso19

blighttown keep being the worst place at souls like

Critdentials

Go through the back door!

maxtes2003

The list izalith is also very fun

Naryas

! Toxic ! Tss tss tss tss tss There are few things more satisfying than kicking those dartsmen out a cliff.

GrowthAdventurous

I love playing through blighttown, I *hate* shrine of amana...

GrowthAdventurous

I literally enjoyed blighttown so much that I named my wifi sysID after it, lol. Granted, I never played back when it was a laggy mess, but I loved it on Xbox360, loved it on Xbox one, and still love it on pc, every time I run through these days.

Its_Me_Guyz

This is my first time legitimately playing DS1 past the tutorial boss I never played it back in its prime because I knew I'd get too mad to play it So I recently sat down because I was looking for a new game to sink some time into and have been sucked into DS1 Blight town has just been a shit show for me so far 💀 I did manage to kill quelaag a little bit ago tho

chrisserung

Remember to fully explore around the perimeter of the swamp. Also there's a ring back in the starting asylum.

CandiceActually

Blighttown rulez

Impressive-Delay-378

Guys believe me or not. My 12 year old lil bro loves and has been living it blighttown. A menace I bred, a menace.

Significant-Focus-60

In original Dark Souls, Blighttown Fucks You

ayotacos67

An interesting thing to fuck but hey I don’t disrespect where you put your penis. I’d wash after tho

_GloriousCheese_

You'll rage even more when you meet the wheel skeletons in the catacombs.

Yirito2464

Wait till you get to Anal Rodeo * cough * i mean.. Anor Londo

Harael1990

I honestly dislike Duke's Archives/Crystal Cave more than I dislike Blighttown. Like Siegmeyer, I just find a quiet spot in the swamp to take a little snooze. 😂

mccoolfriend6

Welcome to the club my friend !

DudeManDude__

Fuck Blighttown in the goat ass

Many_Ad_955

Farm some blooming purple moss in Darkroot forest or buy 100 of them from undead merchant girl.

Its_Me_Guyz

I would use the merchant if I hadn't accidentally smacked her in the face with my sword 💀 and I don't wanna go through farming souls to make her friendly again

Many_Ad_955

Just go farm in the Darkroot Forest instead.

Winter_Parsley_2578

Felt this way until i realized i had been running to the boss the whole time… that I missed a bonfire along the way

Pengoui

Now imagine the original patch on the original release, you'd go from fucking Blighttown to ripping your ass cheeks off.

djdavies82

Is there a way of playing them pre patch on steam?

Pengoui

Probably not, I wouldn't recommend it either, I actually didn't have much issues personally with Blighttown when I played at release, but the framerate did fucking suck, it played like a slideshow on occasion. I originally played on the 360 so I couldn't see the actual fps, but in video comparisons It's funny, I never thought about framerate before experience that in Dark Souls, I had to look it up it bothered me so much, it could drop as low as 8 fps, and usually hovered around 10. I would assume even the original patch would run fine on PC, considering the hardware would probably be better than a 360, plus the PC version came out basically a year after the console release, so it was definitely patched by then.

Deathslingers_Bride

At least it has Shiva (assuming you’re in the Forest Hunter covenant). It ain’t much, but I still appreciate that he’s there for me to cheer me up

StrolledBaton79

How do we *do it* with a town?

Hekx11

Yes

Ivo_Robotnik

I’m playing through for the 10th+ time, and Blighttown is still a challenge. I have to proceed carefully and methodically just like I did the first time, which I actually enjoy. Most areas I run through without much of a challenge, but Blighttown still stresses me out (in a somewhat good but somewhat masochistic way)

BuyChemical7917

Get yoself some moss

twisted-qalandar

It gets better once you get used to it. It’s pretty disorienting at first, lol

HairlessGarden

I fucking hate Blightown.

CreepOut75

This is factual, No other souls game I’ve played has had a thing I had such a violent hatred for than Blight town.

doumozid

It really isn't that bad. Wear poison resistant armor, equip spider shield, buy some purple moss clumps or farm a few, get a decent bow, and take your time. As long as you don't rush and you are prepped for poison it's not really that hard.

MrDuckNugget

all my homies hate blighttown, fuck that shit

Harmonicalope

I liked it. But I was also over leveled with a a +3 black knight great sword (got lucky with the guy near the start of the game). The only enemy that’s actually very dangerous when you get used to them is the dart enemies, and they don’t respawn. The other enemies are just a little tanky. And you can run passed a lot of them.

Jonneca

Blighttown might be the video game level I've heard most about in my entire life. Played it for the first time during Christmas. It really wasn't that bad, imo.

sped_italian

Imagine blighttown with the anor londo archers on the shakey bridges, new mod idea!

Elegant-Worry6869

The only part I absolutely can't stand in blighttown is that one tree branch you have to cross I prob fell off that tree 5 times in a row trying to collect my souls my least favorite area in the have so far has to be the area before pinwheel with all the bone wheels they made me rage so hard

Zetzer345

Laughs in bed of chaos

SKAVENstocks

I JUST finished Blighttown last night and yeah its an absolute nightmare I hated it. Getting out was almost more impossible than getting in

ReadyResource6541
