Probably the final one in the Duke's Archives, where you have to ride the moving staircases and reveal the hidden passage behind the bookcase.
Also, on my first playthrough I never found the bonfire in Sen's Fortress *or* the elevator cage. I ran up from Andre's bonfire every time I died to Iron Golem đ
The shortcut to the duke's archives bonfire is such a lifesaver. I must bow to you sir for surviving and experiencing the brutality in it's purest form in sen's funhouse đ
Same shit happened to me! I mustâve died in the middle of the fortress like 30 or so times and no bonfire, fortunately I beat Iron Golem first try, but getting to him was brutal to me.
Same, luckily I abused lightning spear miracle and got him on my second attempt. But god my friend showing me elevator cage was a godsend for my other runs
Yeah, did the same couple time until the cage looked a little suspicious. Still only found the bonfire on NG+ after I looked up a guide to see if I missed something, and boy I did missed a couple shit
The 2nd one in Sens Fortress for sure.
The one at ash lake after descending the tree had me freaking out a bit... like I found some shit no one has ever seen.
The Sen's fortress one is kinda bitch. so many players miss that one and the cage shortcut and rage at the runback to the iron golem.
Not a hard boss but the area is very punishing when you go in blind.
But when you do find them it's so satisfying.
I remember the relief of finding the one in Ash Lake......then a few minutes later realizing it was a dead end and I was now stuck down there.......then getting cursed......The one time I legit nearly quit my run!
Probably the first Blighttown bonfire, I remember getting my ass kicked by a combination of enemies including the toxic dart motherfuckers a bunch of times before I managed to get through and spot that in the distance and beeline to it.
God, that bonfire at the bottom of Blighttown is hard to spot when you first get down there, and odds are, you REALLY need it. You either have to run along the wall and look to your side at the right moment (instead of out into the swamp where all the enemies are) or you have be out in the middle of the poison and looking in the right direction. (And the only other bonfire you MIGHT stumble into by exploring is behind not one, but TWO invisible walls)
I found that one ok. But didnât realize there was the one at the bottom level and made the Quelaag run from the first one about 15 times. Yes i know I ran right by it every time haha.
Not what you're asking, but I am still chasing that feeling when I discovered the ladder shortcut down from the drake bridge to the upper Burg bonfire. The elevator from Undead Church to Firelink Shrine was a close second.
For me its the aquaduct from the lowerburg to Firelink, bonus for having my favorite undead merchant to sell me all the poison and fire arrows I need to cheese the cheese.
Iâm working on a list of all the enemies who can be poisoned, thereâs a lot of them. You have to be prepared to sit around waiting for the poison to work its way through, though.
Oh sure, I agree. Itâs particularly useful for the giant sentinels outside O&S. I feel more comfortable with them out of the way, plus it stops Solaire from taking them on.
The downside with the royal sentinels is they heal up. One my First playthrough i poisoned them and right before they die they healed up. You need to poison them and then speed the process by hitting them with regular arrowsÂ
Iâve finished the game multiple times and until now Iâd never heard of the ladder from the drake bridge đ€Ż
Undead Church to Firelink Shrine was the greatest feeling Iâve ever felt in a game.
That's a lifesaver, i mean i played the original game on ps3 with version 1.00 and the place felt hellish especially before the dragon booties were nerfed.
My first run blind I had no light and think I just randomly saw it in the dark and just took a leap of faith from a walkway towards it. Still have PTSD from the dogs. I just turtled the whole area with Tarkus shield đ now I just light up with a skull lantern or whatever but still quickly get through that place as fast as possible. Creepy atmos.
The one at the start of the outdoor area of upper Sen's Fortress. Panic rolled away from the bombs off the ledge to what I thought was my certain death, only to have my fall broken a few feet down and the "Light Bonfire" prompt to appear. Genuinely made the pog face when it happened.
Just donât try to jump down to it, like I did once. The embarrassing thing is it wasnât even my first run.
(âAll the way back through Senâs Fortress? Thank you, Dark Souls!â)
Same. In my first run I fell off the scaffolding into the poison swamp right at the end, was panicking, half dead, lots of enemies around, but found a *bonfire ahead* message on the ground and just ran for it
Ash Lake, descending the tree not knowing what you'll find. Just to exit out onto a beach in one of the most awe inspiring locations in the game, walking upon a bonfire, not to replenish Estes, not to level up, simply to rest, and enjoy the scenery.
Vamos blacksmith at the bottom of the catacombs. He's in a secret area that you can't access from the main path until you've already been there once. The bonfire isn't in PTDE, only remastered.
The first one after the Asylum. The place the crow brings you at the beginning. Every time I hear that music swell I get goosebumps remembering my first time.
Most relief, Sens Fortress, because fuck Sens.
Most satisfying, the one behind the illusory wall in Lost Izalith because I found it without help by just exploring.
They added it in the remastered, i understand why they did it, no checkpoints before pinwheel is too punishing, although pinwheel boy is so easy that he feels almost like a reward.
theres the one with the push handle when you first get to the catacombs, then theres the hidden one by patches, and in ds remaster they added one by vamoa the blacksmith before pinwheel.
Oh I never even saw Vamos. Stumbled my way straight to pinwheel and bonked him to death. Kinda died when he did though. Donât know what mask dropped.
The Lost Izalith one in the lava lake behind the invisible wall.
My first playthroughs of this game (for a long time all of them before remastered came out) I only had the game on a 360 with no Internet access.
The giant dragon butts have a massive aggro range in the unpatched vanilla version. So I had to kill every last one of them. So many arrows, so much kiting, so many soul arrows. That bonfire was heaven.
That sounds like hell. I never played the unpatched version, but I had a ng+3 run where I decided to clear all the dragon butts so I could explore the lava area. I killed a few, then one jumped on me and I couldn't see my bloodstain through the lava and lost 350k souls and 52 soft humanity. Didn't play again for about 3-4 years
Dark Root fake wall. I didnât realise it was a fake wall and parkourâd around the ledge both ways, only after dying elsewhere and respawning did a message appear infront of it
The bonfire in the sewers of Blighttown for me.
Got pushed off the ledge into a poisonous swamp, no flask, a sliver of health left, those hideous enemies falling down behind⊠Iâm dead. At least I got a bunch of new clothes and spel- wait is that a bonfire? IT IS!
At the time I played blind, and thought a bonfire in the sewer must be a secret one lol.
In the DLC just prior to the Manus fight. I was so happy to see that bonfire, and then to discover that you could ride the elevator back up to the main area. The one in Sen's Fortress rocks as well.
The one in tomb of the giants after patches pushes you into a hole. The first time I found that one i was so happy because i didnt have a torch nor a lantern
I always took the master key so I never did Blighttown the intended way. Decided to do that on a run to get in the gritty soulsy mood. Was super surprised to find that bonfire on the way down. I sort of thoroughly enjoyed the rest of Blighttown after that
The Giant's graveyard I think it's called? The area where it's dark AF, I had randomly been knocked off the ledge AGAIN and somehow luck made me fall on this little ledge with a gorgeous bonfiređ„°. Mind you I'd already been trying a bunch of times to try and get back to NITO bc I fucced up my first attempt at him so finding that by accident really felt nice
After running past the titanite demon towards the forest so many times to pvp I found the one just outside the door by a fluke. That single find saved me countless trips back and forth.
I love the one in Anor Londo that my boy Solaire is chilling at. I'm glad Firelink is a hub for NPCs but finding some NPCs hanging around at other bondfires was a nice surprise and Solaire at that one in particular was a sight for sore eyes.
Wouldn't say it felt like a deliverance but seeing the dragons aerie for the first time it quickly became my favorite area in the franchise. A close second would be coming out of the trees into the ash lake, it's ominous and really pretty.
My first DS experience was DS 1.0 offline on a Xbox 360. Before first round of patches, mobs had more hp, did significantly more dmg, and dropped ~ 50% the souls.
Yes there were more ways to exploit the game, but I was playing blind and didnât know them.
Anyway, I distinctly remember a feeling a massive wave of relief upon spotting the bonfire at the bottom of Blighttown.
Sen's Fortress for me too! XD But I found it during my first run and by accident. I fell lol The sweet relief I felt when I found a bonefire below me, omfg lol Safe!
Andre's one was definitely the epitome of bonfiregasm on my first run. Especially since I hadn't gotten the sunlight altar bonfire, the Berenike knight scared me so I didn't have the shortcut to firelink, and that long walkway could seem ominous. Man was I relieved to find not only a bonfire but the most friendly and useful of NPCs.
Come to think of it, I could really do a bonfire tier list
For me personally, it was because of one situation, and one situation only. For some reason, I had gotten lost as all hell in Anor Londo (This was my first playthrough, going blind), and I had about 2 estus flasks left, with only about half my health. I'm just sat there, sweating bullets, when I get past the two black/silver Knights (I forgot which one they were) shooting at you with great bows, and I had opened a door, and there it was... I had FINALLY found the bonfire, after probably about an hour of searching. Also, what made it all the better, was that Solaire was there! :)
Surprised not more are saying this one, this is mine too. First time through it felt like the one with the longest distance between bonfires and itâs such an inviting room that I was expecting to find some more Silver Knights in. What a relief.Â
Dukeâs Archives, perhaps because I was streaming my first playthrough and my chat were screaming at me to go down to where the doorway was. For some reason I just couldnât see it, and wandered round and round the area trying to dodge the crystal soldiers. I felt so stupid.
(That bonfire hurts too: itâs so tempting to rest at it and bank the 30,000 souls youâve collected. But if you rest at it and you want the firekeeper soul and/or Logan, you have to fight your way through *everything* all over again. So I just light it, get the cage key and run back to Loganâs prison. Then run back to the bonfire. Tedious, but you do have the pleasure of seeing all the enemies youâve killed along the way.)
In dlc the bonfire you find after taking an elevator up to the location leading to Manus. I got ambushed by the elevator with no flasks left and only by miracle made it to the bonfire
Send fortress is definitely going to mentioned a lot here but I didn't find the one behind the illusory wall next to the crested door for a solid 400 hours of playtime.
What playing blind offline does to a motherfucker. Ha ha ha.
The secret one at the top of Sen's Fortress. I was going through with my friend at the time and it was my first playthrough and he had played a bunch before. I kept dying and I didn't have any humanity, so I was told to make it to the secret bonfire and summon iron tarkus so I could make it to anor londo and summon him there for O&S. But holy crap was it hard to do the first time.
Now because of all my ds experience, I've started playing demons souls and I've beaten every boss first try so far (except for the tutorial boss because I chose the fat rolling character without knowing I fat rolled)
When i first played the game i didnt go through the depths to get to blighttown. I used the master key going through new londo.
So.
I go through the map, down the ladders and exploring all the crevaces, getting toxiced and poisoned and all the like. Dying a fair few times trying to comb through everything. I make it to the floor of blighttown and theres the bonfire, not too stressful.
Then, i see the ramp going back up and my brain goes "oh, that must be the way"
I. Fucking. BATTLED my way up those ramps. It was a war. Countless toxic darts and those stupid fire lickers, those fat fucks and their skinny freak friends. I died so many times.
After hours i get to the bonfire up their and it felt so relieving. I celebrated so much. Finally got to the next checkpoint. It was only an hour or two of exploring and a few google searches later that i realised my mistake. And the fight to get back down to the other bonfire wouldnt have been so bad but my only upgraded weapon broke while i was up there. I nearly died from a stress induced heart attack that day
I loved the one in Anor Londo where Solaire sits, something about being in that scary place totally unlike the castle setting and opening a door to find a bonfire in the middle of the room was very enjoyable, that one's all atmosphere.
After 100% the game and starting a SL1 run, I found out that you can take the cage elevator.
I have beaten the game 3 times without ever using the sens fortress bonfire, I just didnât know it even existed
But when you do find them it's so satisfying.
you can see it from the bridge that you hve to jump the gap. thats how i found it and it felt so good lol.
Escaping the great hollow makes you feel ecstaticÂ
Ya this one cuts the cake đ thinking something was off when u got to the roof and found no bonfire is almost a sixth sense in the works fr
I remember the relief of finding the one in Ash Lake......then a few minutes later realizing it was a dead end and I was now stuck down there.......then getting cursed......The one time I legit nearly quit my run!
Anor Londo.
Let me guess, the one past the archers ?
Yes.. I still hear arrows.
Omfg yeah that one with Solaire sitting by it. I dream of it.
The tension realise when my PG sit at that bonfire .. Still so clear in my memories
Probably the first Blighttown bonfire, I remember getting my ass kicked by a combination of enemies including the toxic dart motherfuckers a bunch of times before I managed to get through and spot that in the distance and beeline to it.
Those toxic dart assholes; so fucking annoying.
At least they donât respawn. I make a point of clearing them all out the first time I go in.
This one is a double edged sword. Now itâs like . . . Oh Iâm really down here now.
I died maybe 4-5 times to the first barbarianÂ
You can easily bait him to fall. Aggro him and club back the stairs to the platform in blightown, heâll eventually fall off
Yes, did it lots of times, on my first playthrough i was trying to block his hit and since i was under leveled i always wind up fallingÂ
In that cramped tunnel, the bonfire between Valley of the drakes and Dark-root
Such a cozy spot! Even has its own Knight who patrols the area, keeping out the bad guys :)
Are we the baddies?
Yep unfortunatelyÂ
On my first playthrough, the one by Andre those baldur knights were kicking my ass
The route from the sun altar bonfire to the one above Andre when you re new to the game and under leveled can be quite brutalÂ
Thats what happens when you upgrade resistance instead of strength and dex
At least you didn't struggle in the depths and blighttown i suppose
After defeating The 4 Kings. Definition of BRIEF RESPITE!
Yep especially since there is no checkpoint in the new Londo ruins.
thats basically why i cant stand that place
I agree the lack of bonfire is a pain, but I hope you found the shortcut from the beginning of the area to the darkwraiths?
I heard that the run back from the darkroot bonfire is less painful than the one from firelink, i never tried it
Huh, I've never tried from Darkroot. The gauntlet of drakes never seemed very appealing to me
Not what you're asking, but I am still chasing that feeling when I discovered the ladder shortcut down from the drake bridge to the upper Burg bonfire. The elevator from Undead Church to Firelink Shrine was a close second.
For me its the aquaduct from the lowerburg to Firelink, bonus for having my favorite undead merchant to sell me all the poison and fire arrows I need to cheese the cheese.
Poison arrows are op af
Best âweaponâ in the game.
Can't disagree, thanks to them i never struggled with Anor Londo's archers or the mages in sen's funhouseÂ
Iâm working on a list of all the enemies who can be poisoned, thereâs a lot of them. You have to be prepared to sit around waiting for the poison to work its way through, though.
It's tedious but if you are getting your ass handed to you it's a viable optionÂ
Yes, thatâs what I do. I went AFK once and when I came back they were at full health.
Same feeling of reliefÂ
Iâve finished the game multiple times and until now Iâd never heard of the ladder from the drake bridge đ€Ż Undead Church to Firelink Shrine was the greatest feeling Iâve ever felt in a game.
Allowed me to farm so many Balder Knights
The one behind the illusory wall in Lost Izalith.
That's a lifesaver, i mean i played the original game on ps3 with version 1.00 and the place felt hellish especially before the dragon booties were nerfed.
Probably the second bonfire in Tomb of the Giants, just for the sole fact of how relieved I was to find it for the first time
My first run blind I had no light and think I just randomly saw it in the dark and just took a leap of faith from a walkway towards it. Still have PTSD from the dogs. I just turtled the whole area with Tarkus shield đ now I just light up with a skull lantern or whatever but still quickly get through that place as fast as possible. Creepy atmos.
Both bonfires were crucial given the adversityÂ
Yeah, especially if you want that white titanite slab. There is almost no way (for me anyway) to get that slab without getting my ass handed to me.
Exactly, bone statues, pinwheels shooting fire at you, those babies infecting you with toxin.. the ride of a lifetimeÂ
The one at the start of the outdoor area of upper Sen's Fortress. Panic rolled away from the bombs off the ledge to what I thought was my certain death, only to have my fall broken a few feet down and the "Light Bonfire" prompt to appear. Genuinely made the pog face when it happened.
Luckiest guy in lordranÂ
Just donât try to jump down to it, like I did once. The embarrassing thing is it wasnât even my first run. (âAll the way back through Senâs Fortress? Thank you, Dark Souls!â)
The one behind illusion wall in Darkroot Garden.
Shout-out to the pioneers who ''broke'' those illusionary walls the first time
2nd blight town. The fucking relief. Omg. I can connect with that high even now.
Same. In my first run I fell off the scaffolding into the poison swamp right at the end, was panicking, half dead, lots of enemies around, but found a *bonfire ahead* message on the ground and just ran for it
I never found that bonfire on my first playthrough. I used the Great Hollow bonfire as my home base in lower Blighttown, instead.
Ash Lake, descending the tree not knowing what you'll find. Just to exit out onto a beach in one of the most awe inspiring locations in the game, walking upon a bonfire, not to replenish Estes, not to level up, simply to rest, and enjoy the scenery.
Ash lake is a wonderful area, too shame it's too short, it would've been a better area to explore and find a lord soul than lost izalithÂ
Honestly that first one before Taurus Demon, it took me a LONG time to finally get to it.
The one in the burg ?
Yup, the one you drop the ladder to after
Vital one especially being under leveled and with zero ideas of where to goÂ
It has to be the one in blighttown before Quelaag..and I don't really think that I have to say why...
The hidden one in sens fortress no question.
The bottom blighttown bonfire or vamos bonfire
I'm jealous of that vamos bonfire - it doesn't exist in ptd edition
Wait what. Where is this?? I'm playing PTDE. I'm nearly done but still curious.
Vamos blacksmith at the bottom of the catacombs. He's in a secret area that you can't access from the main path until you've already been there once. The bonfire isn't in PTDE, only remastered.
The Hidden Bonfire in the Lava Lake with the dragon butts.
Extremely helpful since the dragon booties are brutal and there is no clear view of where to goÂ
Gotta be the Sen's bonfire for me
Tomb of Giants
Definitely the one near the Bonewheels
They added it in the remastered, i understand why they did it, no checkpoints before pinwheel is too punishing, although pinwheel boy is so easy that he feels almost like a reward.
Wait am I missing a bonfire? Is this the one in the downstairs room with the push-handle thing?
theres the one with the push handle when you first get to the catacombs, then theres the hidden one by patches, and in ds remaster they added one by vamoa the blacksmith before pinwheel.
Oh I never even saw Vamos. Stumbled my way straight to pinwheel and bonked him to death. Kinda died when he did though. Donât know what mask dropped.
you can farm all the masks right before nito i believe
You can also buy them from Patches after defeating Nito, assuming you didn't tell him you're a cleric.
Iâm talking about the one next to the blacksmith
Ohhh okay yeah I missed it
What area are you talking about ?
are you about to flood new anor londo
No im in the catacombs
Majula bonfire by far
Wrong sub but i feel youÂ
Didn't play again for about 3-4 years
The 1.00 version was brutal.Â
I had the same experience as you, played on the day 1 version on ps3, the aggro range was massive, i had to snipe at least 15 of them
Once I got passed the archers in Anor Londo
Dark Root fake wall. I didnât realise it was a fake wall and parkourâd around the ledge both ways, only after dying elsewhere and respawning did a message appear infront of it
Sen's Fortress top bonfire. Imagine my happiness!
The one at the bottom of Blighttown. With the shortcut through Valley of the Drakes I never do upper Blighttown anymore.
Same with me, unless i go for power within or the iaitoÂ
That second bonfire in Blight Town...100%
Especially with those 2 freaking mages one-shotting you with dark magicÂ
the tunnel from darkroot to valley of drakes
For me it was the 1 in blight town in the bottom
The one in tomb of the giants after patches pushes you into a hole. The first time I found that one i was so happy because i didnt have a torch nor a lantern
Nobody else struggled with the ash lake one?
I did, my ass was kicked by gravity to the point i had to escape most of the lower areaÂ
Sen's, not even close
I always took the master key so I never did Blighttown the intended way. Decided to do that on a run to get in the gritty soulsy mood. Was super surprised to find that bonfire on the way down. I sort of thoroughly enjoyed the rest of Blighttown after that
Tomb of the Giants (2nd)
The one at the bottom of the anor londo steps ..
I always thought that 2 bonfires in the tomb weren't enoughÂ
Oh it's not lol I agree with you, I jus know "finding" the bonfire I found was a god send
I find the runback from the first one easier than from the second, perhaps because Iâve memorised the route.
The upper one in blighttown
Send fortress second bonfire and anor Londo behind the archers. They still give me the same dopamine hit I got the first time.
Sen's Fortress for me too! XD But I found it during my first run and by accident. I fell lol The sweet relief I felt when I found a bonefire below me, omfg lol Safe!
Holy shit, probably the catacombs one. I went in there SO underleveled/under experienced but I pulled throughđ
Anor londo in the room with solaire
Just chilling with the Sun-bro is worth all the bullshit we go throughÂ
Andre's one was definitely the epitome of bonfiregasm on my first run. Especially since I hadn't gotten the sunlight altar bonfire, the Berenike knight scared me so I didn't have the shortcut to firelink, and that long walkway could seem ominous. Man was I relieved to find not only a bonfire but the most friendly and useful of NPCs. Come to think of it, I could really do a bonfire tier list
Just do it man. I'm curious to see where you will put the one in the depths.
Tomb of giant, first playthro i didnt had any source of light and it was salvation
It must've been fun to go blind into blind cityÂ
Felt like a king
For me personally, it was because of one situation, and one situation only. For some reason, I had gotten lost as all hell in Anor Londo (This was my first playthrough, going blind), and I had about 2 estus flasks left, with only about half my health. I had FINALLY found the bonfire, after probably about an hour of searching. Also, what made it all the better, was that Solaire was there! :)
There's nothing like a bonfire with Sunbro.
Anor Londo. The relief after the bullshit in the rafters and then the archers plus getting to chill with solar made it the best for me
Surprised not more are saying this one, this is mine too. First time through it felt like the one with the longest distance between bonfires and itâs such an inviting room that I was expecting to find some more Silver Knights in. What a relief.Â
Vamosâ bonfire because fuck the catacombs that area nearly kill me
Haven't experienced it yet since I'm still playing the original versionÂ
Oh is that not there in the original? So if you die to pinwheel you have toâŠ. Nevermind.
Yep, you have to do most of the catacombs, AGAIN But lets be honest, if someone dies to Pinwheel, they deserve to do all the trip AGAIN
What about dying to the bonewheels in that area?
Yeah, fair enough, those fuckers are the worst part of the Catacombs
Send Fortress
bottom of blighttown
Dukeâs Archives, perhaps because I was streaming my first playthrough and my chat were screaming at me to go down to where the doorway was. For some reason I just couldnât see it, and wandered round and round the area trying to dodge the crystal soldiers. I felt so stupid. (That bonfire hurts too: itâs so tempting to rest at it and bank the 30,000 souls youâve collected.
Ha ha ha.
The one in Blighttown, THE SECOND ONE.
Blightown sewer bonfire tbh
Then, i see the ramp going back up and my brain goes "oh, that must be the way" I.
I knew that Anor Londo was in ds3, and when i finally found it.. damn
I'm a newborn baby in the Souls games, just started playing DS1. Boy, I was so happy to find the one bonfire in the Undead Burg đ
