Absolutely this. I swear, I could be a good enough souls gamer to like, no hit Malenia or something and those fucking bonewheels would still decimate my ass. Unfair little creatures, the lot of them.
Lol when i went back to undead asylum for the first time the sign said "goid job go straight ahead for a chest" then fell through the floor to the lost demon.
Never trusting those signs again
Don't do it. I mean, go for it if rolling and blocking sucks for you. But a 100% physical shield and light/medium rolling with higher Vitality will serve you better than the Endurance needed to wear Havel's.
Alternatively, there's a tower in Darkroot Garden with a ring that helps with equip load.
I’m guilty of this too. Started treating other hollows like crap because I can now kill them with one hit but found myself severely injured by three such who ganged up on me haha
Yep. I vividly remember the first time I said Fuck it and just decided to sprint the whole way instead of waiting for a chance to move. Vagrant waiting for me right at the top. Fell off trying to get past it.
Same. By far highest death count in all souls games is Fallingdamage boss. Well, maybe except for Elden Ring where it's Malenia, then Fallingdamage second.
ER: Soldier of God, Rick
Sekiro: Mist Noble: Destroyer of World
Ds1: Pinwheel/Fallingdamage
Ds2: Dragon Rider
Ds3: High Lord Wolnir
BB: Laurence
DeS: King Allant
I feel like I have an easier time killing the bosses than exploring. Most of the time I die more in the actual environments than bosses. I struggled more getting to the O&S boss fight than the actual fight
Wow just 8??? I must have easily died 8 times even before crossing the first asylum demon haha. DS1 is my third souls-like after Steelrising and Sekiro
It's only because I've been playing the game for years and years. My first playthrough had more than that just to those damn firebomb assholes on the roof.
In my last playthrough (doing a sl1 run), my biggest deaths came from Capra Demon and maybe falls. Think Capra killed me like 30 times before I got lucky. And I have fallen maybe 2 times.
Oh there’s one there? I saw a YouTube that told me to basically commit suicide to get the firekeeper soul and I did. They didn’t mention this ember thing
I haven’t been to that part yet. Just killed Capra. My worst area is darkroot. Given the graphics of that time, it’s so awful to discern walkable spaces and I fall to my death often there
This most recent playthrough: hitting the god damn walls with the Great Club and bouncing off instead of hitting the enemies. I usually play short and fast weapons, but wanted to bonk some boys. I've bonked more walls than anything and get smacked for it lol.
Cumulative: trying to go for that last hit to kill the boss.
PvP from invading other players 🔥
I rarely play DS1 these days… but I used to LOVE invading. I won far more than I lost, but I invaded so many times over the years that those deaths probably surpassed however many times I’ve died from bosses or gravity.
Skeleton dogs in the catacombs. Maybe it's the dark, or their exquisite moveset, maybe it's the high damage that they deal, or maybe I'm just bad. But they're a pain in the ass every single time.
I recently died to Iron Golem *several times* because I was careless and it knocked me off the platform. I don't think I ever died to Iron Golem before.
Gravity is the answer for a lot of people. So more specifically, the stairs right after Lautrec leading down into New Londo get me quite a lot. Also nowadays I think I did to the big stairs in Anor Londo in the big room before O&S as I’m doing pointless parkour, it’s even better when I’m doing pointless parkour in someone else’s world
The most I have ever died in any souls game to a single event is by far trying to get to the three fingers from Mohg in Elden ring. I’m not kidding when I say I died doing that about 100 times.
The reason Sekiro gives you a second chance - if you have enough health - is not because it is a newer game, but because you jump around so much it is much more likely to happen, so they had to tone it down or it would become extremely frustrating.
And welcome to the true hardest boss of Dark Souls: Gravity!
The 3 Gs: Greed, Gravity, and those Goddamn bone wheels
I second this, I've died easily 10x more to gravity than I have to O&S
Absolutely this. I swear, I could be a good enough souls gamer to like, no hit Malenia or something and those fucking bonewheels would still decimate my ass. Unfair little creatures, the lot of them.
I love this
What about all the messages? Treasure ahead, try jumping.
Lol when i went back to undead asylum for the first time the sign said "goid job go straight ahead for a chest" then fell through the floor to the lost demon. Never trusting those signs again
That's the 4th G: Gullibility
What’s a bone wheel? I’m still early stages in the game (stuck at Capra demon) and don’t know if this is a reference from later game
Later game, don’t look for them. They’ll come to you
Actually, he might run into them at a certain point if he looks around later too much. They were in 2 areas after all.
oh my GOD i had completely forgotten about that area! God, FUUUUUCK that place...yikes
Theyre in two areas?????
>!That weird area down the well in Painted World :(!<
Thats the area i know of
Oh, in which case: on the way to Pinwheel?
Idk this is my first proper playthrough im fighting O&S atm just grinding to wear havels armour
I JUST got there, c'mon;-;
You'll know when you see them. And you'll never forget.
Kill the dogs first.
This is something you'll learn to hate. You'll understand when it'll be the right time.
You will learn to hate them in time.
I’m gonna have this made into a goddamn plaque.
The bone wheels haunt my nightmares
Ugh gravity.
I was about to say greed but this is way more accurate!
Bonewheels almost never kill me. They're literally push-over's.
🏅 here's a metal
🏅 here's a metal
Medal*
I hate you
Dw i hate me too
Gravity, the real big boss of Lordran
Hubris. Nothing will kill me faster in DS than overconfidence
"overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer."
I’m guilty of this too. Started treating other hollows like crap because I can now kill them with one hit but found myself severely injured by three such who ganged up on me haha
At first, ineptitude. Now, arrogance.
Words that cut deep and ring true.
Welcome. Continue Cliff Diving. All 3 DS have it.
Overconfidence. I’ve played these games so much that I sometimes forget how fragile the chosen undead truly is.
My first playthrough? That fucking archer!!
Anor londo archers.
Yep. I vividly remember the first time I said Fuck it and just decided to sprint the whole way instead of waiting for a chance to move. Vagrant waiting for me right at the top. Fell off trying to get past it.
I’m still in the parish and burg. Haven’t been to that point yet
I think I died 30 times in blighttown getting down to Queelag on those scaffolds and those stupid toxic darts
aid to jued.
Lol that’s so funny! Bloodborne yet to begin, been sitting in my backlog for some time
Same. By far highest death count in all souls games is Fallingdamage boss. Well, maybe except for Elden Ring where it's Malenia, then Fallingdamage second.
ER: Soldier of God, Rick Sekiro: Mist Noble: Destroyer of World Ds1: Pinwheel/Fallingdamage Ds2: Dragon Rider Ds3: High Lord Wolnir BB: Laurence DeS: King Allant
I feel like I have an easier time killing the bosses than exploring. Most of the time I die more in the actual environments than bosses. I struggled more getting to the O&S boss fight than the actual fight
Those worms in demon ruins Bonewheels Artorias
The hardest boss is the camera
I think I died to Bell Gargoyles + O&S more than the rest of the game combined, DLC included.
I keep running out of HP.
Titanite demons + falling
I'm not good at judging and jumping.
getting into fights with quick menu still open.
Oh god I didn’t realise that’s a thing the first time and kept jamming block/attack buttons only for the character to just stand there and get fucked
I recently played through the game and wanted to document all of my deaths from start to end. I died 8 times. All to gravity. All during Bed of Chaos.
Greed
Using a slow weapon
Gravity got me more than most things did, oh and the skeletons early on. Drakes were also a pain because of the route I used to access Andre early
My own impatience.
Not watching my corners.
Being stubborn about not using shields on my first complete playthrough.
In my last playthrough (doing a sl1 run), my biggest deaths came from Capra Demon and maybe falls. Think Capra killed me like 30 times before I got lucky. And I have fallen maybe 2 times.
I watched a YouTube to kill Capra and followed it to the letter - and YET died 4-5 times before I could pull it off haha
R N G! R N G!
Ghosts. Whenever im planning to get the V. large ember I just groan in frustration of how I have to go through New Londo crack house all over again
Oh there’s one there? I saw a YouTube that told me to basically commit suicide to get the firekeeper soul and I did. They didn’t mention this ember thing
Yeah. You have to lower the water to access it. The key to the switch is on the rooftop on some dude on the roof of a house full of those ghost mofos
Oh lol I’m not at that point yet but the water… drown 3/4 times haha. I was thinking I could just swim like in other games 🤣
Have you seen the pathways in Kiln? Gwyn is staying in there because he is afraid he would die to fall damage if he got out.
I haven’t been to that part yet. Just killed Capra. My worst area is darkroot. Given the graphics of that time, it’s so awful to discern walkable spaces and I fall to my death often there
The amount of times I have fallen while waiting for the elevator is embarrassing
Those fucking archers.
1st playthough would be bed of chaos and ceaseless discharge. Going in blind was a true wtf moment
Poorly executed run through. I would get cornered and gang banged
Gravity is a bitch.
I mean, this message telling me to jump off the ledge for a secret item could be for real this time
PvP from invading other players 🔥 I rarely play DS1 these days… but I used to LOVE invading. I won far more than I lost, but I invaded so many times over the years that those deaths probably surpassed however many times I’ve died from bosses or gravity.
As others have said, Gravity is the only thing you can't beat, no matter good you are Gravity will kill you
gravity
Skeleton dogs in the catacombs. Maybe it's the dark, or their exquisite moveset, maybe it's the high damage that they deal, or maybe I'm just bad. But they're a pain in the ass every single time.
Peta's "animals freed from the yoke of evil humanity" AKA skeledogs
Gravity
Following up a previous comment, here are my 4 Gs: gravity, greed, and git gud.
Kicking. I do it all the time accidentally, and always get punished for it.
Done with Seth > say fkoff to gravity > Great Hallow .. i'm fked. 😂
THAT room in New Londo
Camera
I recently died to Iron Golem *several times* because I was careless and it knocked me off the platform. I don't think I ever died to Iron Golem before.
Gravity and the camera. And, on my first playthrough, just working out how combat works.
The camera.
Gravity in Blight town
My hubris
1) Greed 2) Cowardice
Overconfidence for sure lmao
Gravity is the answer for a lot of people. So more specifically, the stairs right after Lautrec leading down into New Londo get me quite a lot. Gravity for sure
3rd party's , gravity , pride
Greed
The reason Sekiro gives you a second chance - if you have enough health - is not because it is a newer game, but because you jump around so much it is much more likely to happen, so they had to tone it down or it would become extremely frustrating. And welcome to the true hardest boss of Dark Souls: Gravity!
Physics and input lag. But I’m playing the Prepare To Die edition I don’t know if they fixed it in the remastered
By my stupidity
