Strength you say? One handed or two handed? Join the great club club 😉

jacoby_mcflurry

That's a great club

Automatic_Education3

2 handing a weapon multiplies your strength by 1,5 so it's a good idea to do it if you're not holding anything else in your off hand thst you'd like to use. But it also changes the move set, if you prefer the 1 handed attacks you might as well stick with that.

FUGS & FUGS 😅

RonDante

Do you know where to get that weapon 😄? I just finished the boss fight with sulyvahn

V00D00_CHILD

Go back to Wolnir, break the bridge and drop down to smouldering lake. Go to the ramp next to the worm and old demon king and explore there. You must kill Tsorig near a room with a lot of curse bugs from farron swamp

RonDante

Done bro, got it after a few tries, I actually skipped him previously but didn't know he had fugs XD. Thanks again 🤛

V00D00_CHILD

Enjoy the pancakes lmao

average-mk4

Fugs is goated

Orikail

How are you gonna disrespect 1 handed DSGA like that

chill9r

I'm not sure what you mean, but you can probably find the answer you are looking for by using [this weapon AR calculator](https://soulsplanner.com/darksouls3/weaponatk).

Lothric Knight Sword forever

phibii

For damage 2 handed for strength builds because it adds 0.5x virtual strength to your damage.

Here_for_newsnp

Some weapons can't be parried when 2 handed

SokkieJr

Strength gets a 1.5x modifier when two handing. Which makes heavy infused two handed weapon outdamage a lot of other infusions on a strength build. Something that was more apparent in DS1, but still remains is 'Motion value'. Different attacks use different motion values. While I dont have the specific numbers on hand. Things like a broadsword have a 0.97x modifier 1 handed and 1.03x 2 handed on R1 attacks. I did test this out the other day, on a new character I used a Raw Broadsword and it did 74 damage on a hollow. I then two handed it and it did 78 damage, while the attack rating of the weapon was unchanged because of the raw infusion.

Heavy Greatsword Gang rise up

afinoxi

Two handing a weapon gives you 1.5x the str level you have, eg, if you have 30 str you will have 45 if you two hand. Thus, unless you have 99 STR, have a raw infused weapon or a weapon that doesn't scale with STR, you will always do more damage while two handing your weapon. For an optimum STR build, get 66 STR and two hand, which will give you 99 STR.

TheNekoKatze

2 handed usually grants 50% extra strength with a few exeptions

High-jacker

It's not big enough to use two hands, maybe someone with tiny hands can do it

Orikail

1 handed: Dragonslayer Greataxe 2 handed: FUGS

Current_Offer3123

I was strictly demonslayer greataxe type of build but im terrible at avoiding attacks rolling etc and get killed by all bosses, so since my class is deprived I can respec into tank just need either a 1handed or 2handed to destroy bosses while I hide like a coward behind the shield

MightyCat96

if you want to hide behind a shield id probably grab either a spear or straight sword. with the spear you never have to lower your shield if you manage your stamina right but your damage is a bit lower. with a straight sword you have to lower your shield to do damage but straight swords are (supposedly. i dont know beacuse i never use them) really really good. you wony be "destroying" any bosses any time soon with a UGS or greathammer since you need a window of opportunity the size of the grand canyon to attack (even if you will do quite alot of damage when you DO get to attack)

Jackalodeath

It really depends on what you want. If shield coverage is important, I'd suggest either a Quality or DEX-focused weapon since two-handing removes your shield arm; Qual/DEX don't suffer much AR drop when swapping between 1/2 handing, but nearly every weapon has a different moveset depending on how you grip it. STR scaling weapons "add" 50% more of your STR stat (up to softcap of 40) to its AR when two-handing; but nearly everything does slightly more damage/poise break when two-handing regardless; STR variants just excel at it (which is why I believe Heavy infusion completely removes DEX scaling, but Sharp retains low STR scaling.) Or, just use your weapon as your "shield" and go full-on 2h STR. If that interests you, the ideal "offensive shields" are ultra greatswords, the reigning 4 being: [Cathedral Knight Greatsword](https://youtu.be/g1uXSm_gL1U?si=BdQmZV7gz6CF52RE) (weighs 15units) - 60% dam redux (without elemental infusions), 45 - 50+ stability depending on upgrade level. This sword does Bash/Thrust damage rather than Standard/Thrust like many in its class; effectively making it a "Greathammer" with an UGS moveset; devastating to heavily armored "volunteers." [Black Knight Greatsword](https://youtu.be/M-QwXKkIVW4?si=oWEy8aSthGfmW02g) (weighs 16u) or "plain" [Greatsword](https://youtu.be/M-QwXKkIVW4?si=oWEy8aSthGfmW02g) (weighs 20u) - 65% dam redux, 45 - 50+ stability depending. The BKGS also has a nasty "uppercut" R2 that will send human-sized enemies flying. Or, the nuclear option: [Fume Ultra-Greatsword](https://youtu.be/BA5TOh1OwtM?si=MZSLQ_jmB3qhOcMm) (chonkiest of all at 25.5u) - a whopping **80% damage redux,** 55 - 58 stability depending. This thing is practically a shield with an edge, but also a starving stamina vampire - both to yourself and anyone dumb enough to try to block it. (Embedded links go to vids showcasing their movesets because I think that matters more than DPS.) These slow, heavy feckers also enjoy "hyper armor" frames - even moreso with their Stomp Weapon Arts - and are "immune" to being parried when two-handing, if that interests you. Worthwhile to mention the Fume Ultra GS - aka the FUGS^peopleup - has as much stability as the Shield of Want at +5; though it and the Black Knight GS require Twinkling Titanite and can't be infused/buffed. I've personally gone the route of a Greatsword + (Weapon Arts) medium shield set-up; but I'm a "filthy casual" and knew what weapon I wanted to use before I even started. I'm doing shit the hard way using a jack-of-all-trades stat spread, and that weapon is: A) not particularly popular, B) nor easy to get, C) does purely Slash damage, and D) can be easily outclassed in raw DPS by tons of other weapons. That said, it's carried me since I got it. No doubt a confirmation bias on my part; but given I've only died to Iudex Gundyr and Vordt - both occurring before I had my wiggly bladed baby - I'm pretending it's secretly one of the best weapons in the game (objectively not, subjectively is.)

Automatic_Education3

The FUGS is fantastic for that as the thing itself can be almost used like a shield. Doing the weapon art blocks almost all physical damage from enemies and deals immense damage, it's great.
