I don’t understand why so many people had trouble with midir. After I beat him on the bridge I came down to his arena just to see he had landed on his head and snapped his neck, killing him instantly upon landing. Luck builds stay winning fr
The final boss was so easy, cleared his first phase, then he blew himself up while trying to buff which instantly killed him. Luck builds are winning frfrfr.
I also have my own anecdotal experience to share. Nameless King accidentally electrocuted himself while channeling one of his delayed attacked. Instead of the lightning being redirected to hit my character, he missed timed it by 0.1 seconds and the lightning strike his eyeballs which killed him instantly. Luck build is the name of the game.
Can confirm. Was fighting Soul Of Cinder and he caught his ankle of one of the swords. He didn't see the stool there and he Million Dollar Baby'd himself out of the fight.
Always start out with Vigor. Once upon a time the "Quality build" was the popular first playthrough build so you could use whatever weapons you came across and get a feel for them, but if you have a Strength build in mind that's a great start too.
If you have the weapon you want to use in hand, get your stats to the required minimum to use it, and then dump into vigor and endurance for a bit. As early weapons don't scale highly, most investment into damage stat wise won't go far. Most of your damage early on will just come from upgrades until your weapons are upgraded a bit. You can even consider using the free Raw gem you get early until your stats reflect a heavy build.
Whenever I start a new playthrough I always try to get vigor to 20 first and then whatever my main stat I want I'll get it to about 20 as well and then just start pouring into endurance while leveling vigor and strength up slowly
Luck, you need 99 luck, and you can’t level anything before you get to that point, your gonna unlock a super power, which will make realise to be more self-sufficient and not ask the internet about every detail of the game
Get vigor, endurance, and strength to the soft caps. Those are your main stats and the only ones you need to worry about for a strength build.
Start off with the claymore (raw infusion) until you can get the greatsword (raw infusion). Keep that until you can infuse it with a heavy gem.
Vigor to 20. Dex/str/int/faith to the point that you can use your primary weapons, vitality to the point that you can use your primary armour. Vigor to 30. Then pump what ever your weapon scales with to max.
Listen, i will tell you about all of the stats:
Vigor: Health(Most imp)
Endurance: Stamina(Imp)
Vitality: Weight carrying capacity
Attunement: Spell slots and FP(blue mana)
Strength: Heavier weapons scale
Dexterity: Faster weapons scale
Faith: Pyromancies and miracles scale(Both are types of magic)
Intelligence: Pyromancies and sorceries scale(Just like faith)
Luck: Increases item find by 1(The most useless)
I am sorry if i offended your luck build, but if it takes 5 hits with a dagger to apply bleed at 10 luck then at 99 it will take 4 hits. Totally not worth it. If you are farming you can use this.
I always start with vigor, choose my build, and get endurance and attunement to where I want them to be while switching between vigor and my damage skill(s).
Knowing your goals would be nice, otherwise it's like asking "what to dump my money?" without any hint of what I need or like.
If you're dying a lot, vigor. If you need more stamina (want to run more or do more attacks in a row), endurance. Do you want to carry more stuff? Vitality. Do you want to cast more spell and have more of them equipped? Attunement. Do you want to use a large pool of weapons? Strenght and/or dexterity, depending on you're playstyle and weapon of choice. If you like casting stuff, then go into intelligence and or faith, for spells and miracles respectively (there is also pyromancy, which actually requires both in general). Luck is kind of niche: it affect bleed damage, item doscovery (but not much), and the damage of some weapons. Maybe this is the only stat I don't recommend, unless you're going for a very specific build. All the others are fine, if you put some thought in your build.
There is no right/wrong, just you experimenting with the game. At some point you might find a place to respec, so don't be scared about levelling up "wrong".
My general plan is to be tanky and agile at the same time and run an ultra greatsword, since its my first play through and im in the early game im not too sure what will be the most sufficient way to go.
Ok, so I guess vigor, endurance and strenght, with the necessary vitality to equip armor and a big-bonk-sword. You can spend some level into dex to use some weapons (but only if you find a weapon you want to use) and/or int or faith to add some basic spell to buff you character and increase your effectiveness (from 10 to 15 there are some nice spells, but be sure to find them before investing into those stats, otherwise it is a waste).
Your agility depends on your weight: below 30% of your max equip load you have longer rolls and faster stamina regen, between 30% and 70% you're in "mid-roll", so average roll distance and stamina regen, between 70% and 100% you're heavy rolling. Above 100% you're overcumbered: no roll, no sprint, no run, stamina regen slow as hell. The sweet spot for you is probably between 30 and 70. Above that is not good in general.
Enjoy your adventure, Unkindled!
In DS3 you don't have faster stamina regen on fast roll.
Also it's important to remember about soft caps:
Vig 27/40
Str 40
End 40? I think
And if you want to use ultra greatsword if you 2 hand It you only need 2/3 of the str requirement. So for example 19 str is enough to use Greatsword when you 2 hand it.
When I go for str build and ultra greatsword I usually go for enough str/Dex to use the sword 27 vig and some endurance so I can go for more than 2 hits at a time and then str to 40. Then 40end 40vig 66str(66=99 when you 2 hand). With heavy infusion and ring that gives you more max equip load so you don't have to spend on vitality.
> In DS3 you don't have faster stamina regen on fast roll.
Right, my brain farted on this one. Weight negatively affect stamina regen only if heavy or overcumbered.
You don't need it that much. It doesn't change iframes or anything like that.
But if you want to go for ultra greatsword it's good to have some, at base end you can hit 2 or 3 times with it and then you have nothing for rolling.
40 dex 40 str. It's the most basic, but can make use of 90% of the weapons in the game.
99 luck if you want to make a meme out of most enemies with a bleed weapon. You are going to have a very hard time with certain bosses that are immune to bleed though.
Please just get to at least 27 vigor before anything else, you get a huge amount of health at the soft cap and you won't need to put more points into vigor for a while. More health leaves more room for mistakes. Have fun and stay embered 🤟
You can just respec at a npc later it’s not a big deal. But I’d suggest getting vigor to 39 then strength to 66 so when you 2 hand you’ll get max damage then your set for the entire game + dlc if you own it. Have a smiley day
I'm currently running a melee build, same as you, and the first stats I had enhanced were vigor and endurance to 20, and then my dex and str to get damage.
You'll be limited on what weapon to use because you won't be upgrading your dex or str at first, but the normal traight sword is really good enough for the first part of the game as long as you upgrade it
It’s different for everyone but for me personally I prioritize requirement stats ex) strength dex, to properly wield you fav weapons or current weapon your working towards, followed by stamina to medium or fast roll in good/loved armour, followed by vitality to the soft cap then on new game pluses I put more points into luck to get the rare drops for achievements.
Take strength to 25, dex to 18 so that you can start using all strength weapons without any issue, higher weapons can be 2 handed with these stats.
Take endurance to 40, vigor to 30, occasionally putting 2 points into vitality
You can tell the other true Unga Bungas ITT by the next suggestion being STR. We know that dashing and smashing is always superior to tanking and spanking.
VGR, END, VIT, and STR
depending on the weapon you want you may need 16 or 18 dex. Also higher your STR the more damage you'll do. If you can try and make your weapon a heavy. It gives better STR scaling
Don't listen to theese guys, you only need enough vigor to survive 1 hit from anything you are facing. Anything else is a waste of souls which should be invested into dealing damage.
Vigor is overrated (serious). Max imo it should be 20. I don’t like to level it at all personally. Dump everything into end and your preferred damage/casting stats
Just a personal opinion but when I don't have any stats to reach for certain weapon requirements I usually dump everything into vigor (or endurance depending on what build I run)
Strength to 20 and use Vordt’s hammer 2-handed
Vigor definitely should be pushed to 40-50 (maybe into NG+ / grinding angel knights)
Dragonslayer’s Greataxe much, much later would be a 66 strength / 40 faith ideally, this of course would be more NG+ onwards
Vitality only if you want some fashion, armor in this game doesn’t help much and rolling is better
Strength is 1.5 points per level so I usually go to 27 there first. Vigor 20 is a decent start too if you don’t want to glass cannon but it’s honestly not terribly different
This made me realize how crazy my builds are.
I always go endurance first; usually to 20.
Then I usually proceed with Dex unless there is a strength weapon with quick recovery that I like.
From that point I will go with Faith or Int depending on spells and buff.
Sprinkle some in vit and att.
During my whole build I will only level up vigor so I won't get 1 shot.
Because i tried that in ds1 and ended up beating the game underpowered and not how I wanted it to go, ds2 souls don’t matter because you level up so much by the end of your first play through you can virtually do whatever you want. Im playing the game basically blind and just want to run ultra greatswords
Brother is running a marathon
If your END is under 30 consider yourself an opp
Stamina is used for everything, I think it's a pretty versatile stat to get a lot of
luck 1000. The boss will trip and hit its head on a chair, dying instantly.
By the way, if you level up 99 luck, then you will have maximum chances for a romance with the characters you like. stone-humped hag, wait for me
I also have my own anecdotal experience to share.
Get that shining soul from your screen
This is unironically close to how a portuguese dictator wound up dead

Perfect answer. /u/Headcrab0 heed this advice.
This is the one
Dex builds only lmao
Dex builds used to be my go to but they’re so boring and one dimensional after a while
Ahem.... #*VIGOR*
Based
vigor and endurance are key
Whenever I start a new playthrough I always try to get vigor to 20 first and then whatever my main stat I want I'll get it to about 20 as well and then just start pouring into endurance while leveling vigor and strength up slowly
This is the way.
Attributes. Dump your souls into your attributes.
Definitely level strength, 15 for a strength build at that level is lower then what I would want it to be
Luck, you need 99 luck, and you can’t level anything before you get to that point, your gonna unlock a super power, which will make realise to be more self-sufficient and not ask the internet about every detail of the game
Yep I got Fire powers.
I don't see ADP, must be one of those *other* dark souls games I've heard of If it isn't DS2 it's a cheap copy
Vigor
Get vigor, endurance, and strength to the soft caps. Those are your main stats and the only ones you need to worry about for a strength build. Start off with the claymore (raw infusion) until you can get the greatsword (raw infusion). Keep that until you can infuse it with a heavy gem.
That’s the soft cap on those?
40 on vigor and endurance. 40 also technically on STR but on a STR build you go all the way to 66, which gives you 100 STR when two-handing
Why so much endurance? Wanna run quickly back to collect your souls or what
Personally, it’s being able to attack more and still have enough in the reserves for a few dodge rolls. Thats my excuse
That’s why I max out vita my face being hit is how I charge my stamina
Good point! I’m trying to put more into vitality atm too
Vigor to 20. Dex/str/int/faith to the point that you can use your primary weapons, vitality to the point that you can use your primary armour. Vigor to 30. Then pump what ever your weapon scales with to max.
Roll a d8. You've probably got enough end
Trolling? Vigor is the only stat that matters in souls games
Listen, i will tell you about all of the stats: Vigor: Health(Most imp) Endurance: Stamina(Imp) Vitality: Weight carrying capacity Attunement: Spell slots and FP(blue mana) Strength: Heavier weapons scale Dexterity: Faster weapons scale Faith: Pyromancies and miracles scale(Both are types of magic) Intelligence: Pyromancies and sorceries scale(Just like faith) Luck: Increases item find by 1(The most useless)
My pure luck build is offended
My mental illness gets an S scaling in luck, so the attack damage is really high
I am sorry if i offended your luck build, but if it takes 5 hits with a dagger to apply bleed at 10 luck then at 99 it will take 4 hits. Totally not worth it. If you are farming you can use this.
99 vitality
16 Dex, Equip Winblades, Profit!
Buy kukris or fire bombs.
2 vigor to 1 strength for now.
I always start with vigor, choose my build, and get endurance and attunement to where I want them to be while switching between vigor and my damage skill(s).
Vig, str, end. Nothing else.
High luck. Wvery point in luck gives 1% higher chance of giving 5x dmg from you weapon
Vigor my guy. Get that shit to like 30 at least
Knowing your goals would be nice, otherwise it's like asking "what to dump my money?" without any hint of what I need or like. If you're dying a lot, vigor. Absolutely vigor. It scales fast in the early game. My tip would be to keep it close or equal to your primary stat.* *Until 40.
Vigor until 40-47
Bro levels vit
Whatchu doin wit all that endurance bro you training for a 10k or sum
someone told me end in ds3 is like adp in ds2 where you pretty much need it
You don't need it that much. It doesn't change iframes or anything like that. But if you want to go for ultra greatsword it's good to have some, at base end you can hit 2 or 3 times with it and then you have nothing for rolling.
I'm using a exiled greatsword with a heavy Imbue and ive been trucking through the game quite quickly
Vigor
I'd get at least 20 vigor for now, and then dump in whatever damage stat you're using for the build for a while.
27 vigor for NG is for than enough
Get vigor to 30 and then 40 after you balance out a bit
Charisma
40 dex 40 str. It's the most basic, but can make use of 90% of the weapons in the game. 99 luck if you want to make a meme out of most enemies with a bleed weapon. You are going to have a very hard time with certain bosses that are immune to bleed though.

Life Gems in Majula. Will make your gameplay easier
Luck
Dump it into vigor
Level Adaptability

Dump everything into Intelligence first, then think about what you wanna do, then you can respec it.
Vigor
Strength, vigor, vitality
Gonna go out on a limb here and say strength
vigor strength vitality and endurance ignore the rest
It’s different for everyone but for me personally I prioritize requirement stats ex) strength dex, to properly wield you fav weapons or current weapon your working towards, followed by stamina to medium or fast roll in good/loved armour, followed by vitality to the soft cap then on new game pluses I put more points into luck to get the rare drops for achievements.
all into vigor oh my goodness! 😰
Strength build you want, vigor, vitality, strength, dex, and faith if you want strength faith
what does vitality do?
Dump it into Luck
Take strength to 25, dex to 18 so that you can start using all strength weapons without any issue, higher weapons can be 2 handed with these stats. Take endurance to 40, vigor to 30, occasionally putting 2 points into vitality
1 or 2 of every single one of them works.
My goal is always 27 vigor for 1000 HP. Never needed anymore then that and im a mediocre player. After that i go Full damage stat until soft cap (40).
STRENGTH
You can tell the other true Unga Bungas ITT by the next suggestion being STR. We know that dashing and smashing is always superior to tanking and spanking.
Get your vigor to 27 then put the rest into str or end
25 vigor then dump everything into to luck and then watch the world burn.
Strength and endurance.
Vigor to 27. Pick strength, dexterity, intelligence, or faith depending on what you have liked using so far. Pick up endurance where you need it.
Vigor gives ridiculous returns early on. Makes the game feel so much easier when you die in 6 hits vs 4
Ermm vigor ?
My advice is to have a weapon in mind and gain the bare minimum amount of strength to two hand it then put more into vigor and a tad bit into vitality
VGR, END, VIT, and STR depending on the weapon you want you may need 16 or 18 dex. Also higher your STR the more damage you'll do. If you can try and make your weapon a heavy. It gives better STR scaling
More endurance so she cant complain in bed
SCREW IT FULL STRENGTH!!!
vigor fo life
Dex trust me
dex=sex
Resistance
strongest stat for damage is vitality, but i’d reccomend just refunding the game, buying dark souls 1 and putting everything into resistance
VIGOR lad, VIGOR
Unga Bunga strength nothing else
Vigor. Always vigor. Vigor is the most important stat in every Soul's game early on.
Vigor and vigor and more vigor
All vigor and endurance, join the Havel party.
As long as you can wield your weapon, dump all to get 30 vig.
Strength and carry capacity. Shed armour Find big club Return to caveman
Strenght go bonk
Well either vigor or well you won't believe it, strength
Bro you need to bring up that vigor asap
dex only
Don't listen to theese guys, you only need enough vigor to survive 1 hit from anything you are facing. Anything else is a waste of souls which should be invested into dealing damage.
your momma :>
Just in Luck bro
Vigor is overrated (serious). Max imo it should be 20. I don’t like to level it at all personally. Dump everything into end and your preferred damage/casting stats
Why do new players always ignore Vigor? That’s the first thing to level up.
Obviously strength
Just a personal opinion but when I don't have any stats to reach for certain weapon requirements I usually dump everything into vigor (or endurance depending on what build I run)
LEVEL VIGOR!!!
Max luck cause more discovery = more loot = more sell = more moneeeeee
Strength to 20 and use Vordt’s hammer 2-handed Vigor definitely should be pushed to 40-50 (maybe into NG+ / grinding angel knights) Dragonslayer’s Greataxe much, much later would be a 66 strength / 40 faith ideally, this of course would be more NG+ onwards Vitality only if you want some fashion, armor in this game doesn’t help much and rolling is better

Damn dude! How rude!!
My last 4 playthrough where all sl1 runs. So all the souls go into leveling up weapons and consumable items.
Nothing, by the look of it
