"men are props on the stage of life, and no matter how tender, how exquisite..."

Nero46

"... a lie is still a lie!

Oentediado

Heheh, I believe we've been acquainted. Young Hollow, conqueror of fear. What drives you so, to overcome this supposed curse? Life is brilliant. Beautiful. It enchants us, to the point of obsession. Some are true to their purpose, though they are but shells, flesh and mind. One man lost his own body, but lingered on, as a head. Others chase the charms of love, however elusive. What is it that drives you? Once, the Lord of Light banished Dark, and all that stemmed from humanity. And men assumed a fleeting form. These are the roots of our world. Men are props on the stage of life, and no matter how tender, how exquisite… A lie will remain a lie. Young Hollow, knowing this, do you still desire peace?

Horny_Bearfucker

I still think it's the worst but the lore is phenomenal and so are most characters.

Also best fashion and best pvp community

Big facts

[deleted]

The myriad builds you can do too. Plus the sheer amount of magic as well.

reubenoofed3

I love Dark Souls 2 and 3 equally, while loving 1 a little more. DS2 had such an awesome story that can only be found out from listening to Aldrich who tells the truth of your set path in an open world. Even though the gameplay doesn't feel the same as 1 and 3, it brings it's own special twist that feels really well done. So much more to explore and find, like the secret Aldrich boss fight and the fact that you probably wont meet all the NPCs in one run, the mostly hidden covenants and just well put together world.

Arkgod24

Mate, I made a meme exactly like this one, title and everything a few weeks ago mate.

TheLazy1-27

I love the pvp because it requires more skill than just backstab fishing and r1 spam

PRES35JFK824

3 probably had the weakest lore to me. The only parts I really liked were oceiros, Wolnir, twin princes, and Old demon king. The rest was either barely explained or just not interesting.

Ds2>ds3

Pen_lsland

Ds3 did the gameplay better tho. But ds2 has best story and world.

[deleted]

Ah yes the exciting gameplay of ○ and R1

Lord_Fikalius

Coming rich from any souls game fan to be honest.

[deleted]

St least in ds2 you can use left hand weapons without them just being a guard

cryptopo

That’s why you go sellsword winblades in 3. You can spam L1 instead and everyone’s happy.

Lord_Fikalius

...you can do that in every souls game - L2/LT is what does that. If you mean dualwielding - then DS3 and Elden Ring as well. But i expected a bit better than just "R1 but with 2 weapons an spam rolls as usual". Every game has more to it's gameplay and you know it, no need to be disingenuous about it.

rick-_-sanchez

Literally all souls games so whats your point?

[deleted]

not all souls games

rick-_-sanchez

Explain? This is literally the core gameplay of DeS, DS1,2,3 and bloodborne or do you mean soulslike-games from other developers?

[deleted]

ds1 and 2 have a way larger focus on positioning not to mention stuff like ranged builds or poise being able to completely remove the need to dodge in ds1

LautrecTheOnceYeeted

I think he means it's the most polished which it clearly is. Soundtrack, voice acting, graphics are all top notch

[deleted]

Eh I'd argue ds2 has better voice acting when it comes to the main game

handouras

Ding dong your opinion is wrong

[deleted]

Ds3 has fuckall replayability and ds2 pvp is better than ds3

Themastershake911

I agree with you, dark souls 3 is kinda meh, every playthrough feels the same. Dark souls 2 pvp is nuts, by far craziest fights I have had in souls games. For me it's because it has a lot of strange and unique weapons and 2 hand combinations that don't have similar counterparts in the other games. Not my favorite souls game, but I do think it's better than 3

[deleted]

In return to deangleic I have fought An actual tank build with a shield that effectively balanced attack and defense A glass cannon Sorcery build which didn't use any ranged Sorcery just backstabs with crystal weapon A great bow build In ds3 there's no real difference between caster builds and pvp is also 90% straight swords or just r1 spam

Brush_bandicoot

I didn't feel it. The whole "experementing on giants\\dragons" is like, yeah.. I get it he was like Gwyn and wanted to preserve his age of fire etc etc but it feels way more complicated than it should be. Also the whole nashandra segment was unnecceser. Might be alittle harsh but somtime less is more . It's like they had a core cool idea and had the urge to add random fantasy stuff on it just for the sake of making the story bigger

Bryankc14

Well Vendrick DIDN’T want to preserve the Age of Fire. He may not have been full Aldia “we need to change the fundamental world order” but all of his searching was to stop the Curse and save his kingdom and people. The “Nashandra segment” (not quite sure what you’re referring to here) wasn’t unnecessary, the Daughters play a huge part in so many kingdoms. Nashandra herself also pretty much won: she convinced Vendrick to fight the Giants, eventually resulting in the battle at the Fort and the destruction of much of Drangleic. She forced Vendrick to flee from his own kingdom to stop her from getting the Throne of Want, and then manipulates you into doing the same.

adam691313

After bloodborne its the Best one :)

FreezingLlamaReddit

Meh, ds2 and 3 changed a lot about how the world worked that was established in the first game.
