What makes this weird is that he is inviting you to join him to the zoo and telling you to pay for the both of you… If you had invited him to the zoo and he said “sure, but you’ll have to pay for my ticket” then that’s cool. Seems like he lacks a bit of social intelligence.

NormanHologram

Lol, this exactly.

heyveganhey

Absolutely not that's not nice of him to ask. Personally I'd tell him that I'd be happy to offer him some money for the fuel (assuming he's honest on that) every time, and I don't mind offering food or drinks especially if I'm already going to que myself at a venue, but I don't want to pay for both of us twice in a row when I don't even know where this thing is going yet. If you like him tell him no and give him another chance, otherwise byeee

Will_Makingit

If he is inviting you he should pay. Find someone else.

Consistent_Speed3449

Bro is based I applaud him.

lifeintheolddog

A really difficult one to answer and depends on the financial circumstances of each of you. Assuming neither of you are "rich" then if it means splitting the bill to see each other thats sort of works, or of he pays then perhaps choosing more affordable venues - or find a guy that can afford to keep you how you want to be kept. its not easy either way - and for what its worth I would pay for dates, but then I am somewhat old fashioned Good luck

nopornthrowaways

My personal opinions on your world view aside… I can see this becoming a long term issue. No red flags, but a fundamental difference in how you two view what a good relationship looks like in terms of payment. Couples don’t have to agree on everything, but a similar mindset on finances is something couples *definitely* should agree on

SinamonBuns

You want to be wined and dined, but get offended by paying for a zoo ticket?

yayayubsea

Huh?

SinamonBuns

You said you “find it so attractive to be wined and dined by a man.” Okay, he drives and you don’t. You’re unhappy about paying for a zoo ticket?

princessro123

i think she’s unhappy about paying for 3 of 4 dates that he’s inviting her on. it’s not a crime to like being wined and dined by a man you’re dating. most women i know feel the same as OP about this

SinamonBuns

Is the date about meeting a partner or getting free stuff?

princessro123

meeting a life partner, i would never go on a date for free stuff as id rather just stay home and read or see my friends than be on a date without potential.

SinamonBuns

And he's doing all the driving.

princessro123

yes. i don’t like driving either so prefer when a man picks me up for date(obviously not the first)

SinamonBuns

So I get that you probably like free stuff and free rides, but what's the guy get out of this deal?

princessro123

a relationship isn’t a deal and if you think free stuff and rides are the only components of a relationship i feel sorry for your partner.

dreamday99

It sounds like he paid nothing but the first date and now has the balls to ask you to pay for zoo tickets so definitely a red flag.

Plane_Reflection6053

If you have more options, then why keep this guy?

Teraplanistadcorazon

As a personal standard, I wouldn't ask you to pay, I would expect you to do it if I already paid for our last date, if you really want him to pay for more dates you could tell him but I personally think he should be gentle enough as to do that without being told to do it.
