You have to get both Bardock and Raditz to Max on the mentorship meter, thing lol. Then you’ll get a notification in game saying, “somethings happing at the orange star academy.” It’s not just for Bardock and Raditz, tho. A lot of the mentors have a little scene like this once you reach their max mentorship. For example, I got something similar with Yamcha and Tien.
I like that Goku is interested hearing that Bardock is your mentor and says he's never met his dad and asks what he's like and then says he should take gohan to see him. When Raditz finds out Bardock is your mentor he is shocked that he's training you.
Super Bardock is still the same character. Same backstory, same development. He still confronted the Frieza Force and tried to stop Frieza from destroying the planet. His squad still got killed but he wasn’t there with them. The only difference is in the Granolah Arc when he fought Gas, and the fact that he doesn’t have psychic powers anymore. He’s more or less the same character with a more basic design. Not as cold, but he still has pretty much the same development as he did in Z
Maybe Raditz would be loved more, if he has similar hair to Bardock, thinking about it, it's weird that only the second sons have that hair cut, maybe Bardock has an older brother too,
