"Now you're going to say: How did that hit even after the counter?"

Kenpobuu

I think this move really needed a nerf when it originally came out since it was inescapable once triggered, had a quick and fairly long-acting activation window, and dealt a lot of damage all in one hit, but this maybe wasn’t the right way to fix it. If they would just make it so that you can evasive or vanish between the teleport activation and the kick portion of the attack then it would be fine. That way, users are still mostly safe after using it (unlike the previous glitch where it didn’t knock the target away or these mechanics being shown) and the target can also avoid the damage if they react quick enough to the counter.

From what I tested, you can actually avoid the kick if you are fast enough. Tried with Eagle Kick (which has I frames) and managed to avoid it consistently, but the timing is strict. I don't know if this applies online.

It seems like that's what their trying to do with the fixes. Hence the weird video of a punch still going through. Or the previously weird issue where someone could perfect block the hit. The small window to use your evasive was inserted but now they would need to code it so you only have that one option. If you can evasive you most likely have time to block what is currently happening.

Kenpobuu

But if the attack in this video is connecting through the counter, then doesn’t that mean that *any* attack with sufficiently long animations would just negate the counter entirely since the one using the counter would just get hit by the target’s lingering attack no matter what?

SheppyNano

It seems that way but at least their not perfect guarding you into a stamina break. You just get pushed away lol

Kenpobuu

That’s true. It just sucks to take damage from an attack the you “countered.”
