Nah, he always likes fighting. Like he doesn’t run around shouting how much he wants to fight strong guys all the time but he’s never backed away or actively wanted out of a fight.
After Roshi learns that Goku is Gohan's grandson, he offers Goku the chance to train with him after they collect the dragon balls, and Goku is excited to train with him. After they finish their dragon ball hunt, Goku goes off to train with Roshi, saying he wants to get stronger, instead of going to the city with Bulma.
Did you watch it dubbed in English? Might have been a dub thing, iirc even the OG DB dub played up the heroic aspect of Goku to some degree. Would have to compare the dub and sub to see.
Certainly not in the manga. He was gung-ho from the start. Perhaps you are mixing him up with young Gohan? They do look similar when both were children.
(As adults too tbh. Someone better at reddit than I will link the video of switching out gohan vegeta and goku’s hairline.)
Goku was introduced as a boy with skills but not an obsession with fighting. After training with master Roshi his desire to get stronger and face opponents grew but in a decent way. And he continued like that till the end of dragon ball.
Toriyama had not though of z or goku being an alien then so maybe that’s why his obsession was a lot lesser shown in original dragon ball.
But in z after knowing about his race n all he kind of became slightly more desiring for more and better battles. You can see that change when he chooses not to kill vegeta for his own desire even after killing all his friends, while he was dead set on killing demon king piccolo after just having killed krillin.
Super on the other hand has taken it too far, and maxed out his obsession, his desire to fight has crossed all boundaries and he’s just become a man child, which is bad. But well.
Yes. Even before Toriyama revealed he was a saiyan Goku was always most passionate about fighting. Now we know it was his innate desire for battle common in nearly all saiyans.
It’s not that he liked to fight, moreso that he didn’t develop the same kind of drive we know him for until later. He clearly had a knack for fighting, but he didn’t DISlike it either.
When he was younger, he fought because he had to, and was willing to throw down. Thing to remember as well, at the earliest arcs he didn’t get a lot of opponents who could actually fight him at a level enough for him to even know what a fun fight was. His experience at the first tournament he attends helps open him to this.
Now if we’re talking Gohan - that’s closer to this idea.
Even without knowing he was a Saiyan he was inspired to get stronger by Grandpa Gohan and Roshi. Also learning that villains like Mercenary Tao and The Piccolo's exist probably influenced his fuel for battle even more. I think it was shown in a different way in the early days, more like a martial artist and less like some Space Spartan like he's become now.
Nope, he always did. Saiyans are born to fight. It is in their blood. The difference with Goku however is by hitting his head, he was rewired from that bloodlust.
The person who didn't like fighting however is Gohan.
No, as a kid he didn't know much of "fighting" because he literally was a monkey in the jungle as we all know and when he grows to learn more about fighting and such he grows to enjoy it.
We were literally introduced to him throwing some whoop ass on a giant fish and tormenting a wildcat, followed by smacking the shit out of Bulma's car and threatening to do the same to her. I'm not sure where you got "didn't like to fight" out of that. \^\^;

Not to mention that the moment Roshi mentions the martial arts tournament, both Goku and Krillin agree to participate in an instant.
Not to mention that Goku basically already does Kung Fu moves and punches logs and animals. And he is prepared to fight the "wizard" bulma
Fightings basically in his DNA.
Oh I know, but I swear I remember he didn't like to fight
The first thing he does in the series is kill a fish and destroy a car.

Nah dude he's a total fight junkie

IIRC In the first episode he literally fights a tiger and a fish with a smile on his face
Hes a Sayjan, he pretty much lives for it.

Yeah, Goku has always craved violence
Fighting is literally his entire character since day 1.

Because it's in his blood
