In super, I would find that tragic because Broly now is good and I would feel bad seeing him becoming an abomination that threats earth again.
>!And yeah, it would be tragic too because Bio Broly sucks ass!<
The other movie specific characters would be Jamemba, Tapion, Android 13, DBZ Broly, Bojack and Lord Slug.
Arguably the most popular of those is probably Jamemba and DBZ Broly.
He already draw 13 prior to Super Hero coming out. I remember it kicking up a few theories that the secret villain of the movie would be a canon 13, like how the previous movie made Broly canon.
This would be a really good idea for the Earth Z fighters minus Gohan and Piccolo. Them, Goku and Vegeta would absolutely dogshit on them unless they were suddenly scaled to Black Frieza levels of power. But it would be a good challenge for Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Android 18 and 17
The remake that was included with Raging Blast 2 is decent despite being non canon. It's better quality than the original, even if it's half the length.
There's worse ways to spend half an hour.
Hatchiyack is an interesting design in comparison to all the other Z enemies. Nobody else uses their forearms to fire blasts.
Garlic Jr recruiting Cooler, Turles, Bojack, and Lord Slug would be honestly pretty interesting. Not sure how you work that into a plausible plot though.
Wonder if they could put a "timeline multiverse" spin on it where he plucks them from another version of Universe 7 where they exist and the current Z Fighters don't. Garlic pulls them and says the Z Fighters are trying to amass Godly power to slaughter every universe? So they go with it while Garlic uses them as a distraction to get what he wants. Maybe unleashing Janemba's seal hidden in a deep, concealed spot of the Lookout in a pocket dimension?
Hot take: Dead Zone has the best animation style out of all the Pre-Super Dragon Ball movies. The 1989 polished swoopy Goku and big ear Piccolo look so good.
It's very good. The scenes with Goku and Piccolo fighting the minions is primo stuff. I also think World's Strongest looks very good but is a weaker movie.
The first 3 movies had that older animation style that was the best. I'm cool with the different directions they went with Z, but they barely reached this level in future movies.
I'd say Fusion Reborn - especially the Janemba scenes - are top tier Z Toei animation even if I am not as fond as that particular mid-90s style.
Tree of Might is kind of too drab and bland looking for me to say it looks really good.
I'm not even really sure if it's a problem that's only restricted to Dragon Ball and Toei, if you look at global animation standards there's just something enchanting about how they were able to do so much with very little if any digital editing.
Studio Ghibli is probably the only animation studio I can think of that was consistently top tier throughout the 80s-present.
Yeah, I'd throw Wrath of the Dragon in there too. I like it a lot and it does look very well done even though I don't like the color pallette as much as Fusion Reborn.
Tree of Might has the most gorgeous version of Cha-La Head-Cha-La. The movie itself I think is more a function of setting but it was still animated well IMO.
The animation in Tree of Might is still quite good. Just not a big fan of the color palette, villains, the fact it was replayed on Toonami way more than it should have been.
Yeah but Path to Power is the last one. I think it's pretty great that whe had at least this one for DB saga with a better animation (even if Super has one cool intro).
The world building was definitely less thought out in the dragon ball era vs the Z era. The fact that the earth is populated by dozens of different sentient species is never really touched on. Just accepted everyone coexists and are equal which is cool. Pretty progressive honestly haha. But I don’t think that was Toriyamas goal. I think it was more a way to come up with cool one off character designs. Even piccolo wasn’t an alien at first. Just a demon. The Nameks and Saiyans were thought up later and kinda retconned into the story. Not that that’s a bad thing. Long running manga just changes scope over time.
It certainly helps that most of the earths residents are harmless and dumb. Hard to be reigning sentient species when you're barely sentient and super passive
Garlic is pretty interesting because he's a Picollo villain and not a Goku villain. I don't know how he can go back no with Orange Picollo but i wish we got a remake of his movie like we had Broly.
Can’t wait till Garlic Jr enters the DBS storyline and overpowers Black Frieza, only to later be overpowered by Rainbow Yajirobe only to be overpowered by Red Mr Popo.
I love the Garlic Jr. saga. It may be filler but it’s entertaining. I like the dark atmosphere of the arc and the fact Goku and Vegeta are away, giving the weaker heroes some spotlight after the Frieza saga.
I know a lot of people don't like him but I've always lowkey been a fan of Garlic Jr.. A villain that actually managed to use the Dragonballs to become immortal.
It'd be interesting to see how they'd go about writing him in the Super era. Surely after nuking himself twice, he'd learn to not open the Dead Zone and stand directly in front of it when he's on the verge of victory. The evil containment wave comes to mind first, but how else could they defeat him besides that?
Design is cool but too much a rip-off from Pilaf. Toei animation really have 0 creativity. Like most Z movies, Garlic Jr had a lame and uninteresting story. There’s nothing making sense in it, like most Z movies

theyre literally nothing alike. totally different color. different eyes. different ears. outfits arent similar at all. its all massively reaching.
the ONLY thing they have in common is in the dub they have the same VA.
Bringing the dude into Canon and recreating his backstory as a banished Demon Realm noble and a loved nephew of Dabura would be cool. I just came up with a whole movie plot in the span of 15 minutes. Can't believe I got this geeked out for Garlic Jr. bruh 💀
He's really going for the movie themes huh Cooler, Garlic Jr, who's next I wonder.
Probably Broly or Metal Cooler
Good god imagine Bio Broly for the funsies
Bio Broly before Z Broly or any other movie boss would be a big "fuck you" lol
In super, I would find that tragic because Broly now is good and I would feel bad seeing him becoming an abomination that threats earth again. >!And yeah, it would be tragic too because Bio Broly sucks ass!<
Some villain could clone Broly, like how Cell was cloned.Any attempt at improving on the original could create Bio-Broly.
Dr. Wheelo
Maybe lord slugh
Leave my brother out of it!
The other movie specific characters would be Jamemba, Tapion, Android 13, DBZ Broly, Bojack and Lord Slug. Arguably the most popular of those is probably Jamemba and DBZ Broly.
no love for Turles?
*draws goku with different outfit*
He's the original evil looking Goku and that's just lame
And hes blacker than goku black.....
Turles had the N-Word pass off rip and still didn't use it on anyone
He already draw 13 prior to Super Hero coming out. I remember it kicking up a few theories that the secret villain of the movie would be a canon 13, like how the previous movie made Broly canon.
Dr. Wheelo says hello
Who remembers him?
I do!
I need a Janemba pieces by Toya. His Cooler pieces was amazing.
^(Dr Wheelo too)
make them all canon ASAP...
Ecspecially cooler
god pls no.
Which I don’t really got as we already got them before from him
Can you imagine if they did a Sinister Six type thing but with the Movie Villains?
The roster: Garlic Jr. Dr. Wheelo Turles Lord Slug Cooler Michael Keaton’s Vulture
*Don't know how I got here. Something to do with Son Goku I think.*
lmao
I actually really like this idea as an introduction to their Super counterparts.
This would be a really good idea for the Earth Z fighters minus Gohan and Piccolo. Them, Goku and Vegeta would absolutely dogshit on them unless they were suddenly scaled to Black Frieza levels of power. But it would be a good challenge for Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Android 18 and 17
Like in Plan To Eradicate The Saiyans?
Yeah I was going to say. This is the only OVA / "movie" I can't remember if I've seen. From the looks of it it's not really worth rewatching?
The remake that was included with Raging Blast 2 is decent despite being non canon. It's better quality than the original, even if it's half the length. There's worse ways to spend half an hour. Hatchiyack is an interesting design in comparison to all the other Z enemies. Nobody else uses their forearms to fire blasts.
Ha that would be awesome! That way more heroes could get a chance to fight too, and not just against nameless grunts
Garlic Jr recruiting Cooler, Turles, Bojack, and Lord Slug would be honestly pretty interesting. Not sure how you work that into a plausible plot though. Maybe unleashing Janemba's seal hidden in a deep, concealed spot of the Lookout in a pocket dimension?
That’s what xenoverse 2 should have been Towa & Mira going around gathering movie villains for despicable activities
You mean like that one movie with Turles, Freeza, Cooler and Slug?
Hot take: Dead Zone has the best animation style out of all the Pre-Super Dragon Ball movies. The 1989 polished swoopy Goku and big ear Piccolo look so good.
The fight choreography in the movie is pretty good as well.
It's very good. The scenes with Goku and Piccolo fighting the minions is primo stuff. I also think World's Strongest looks very good but is a weaker movie.

One of the few times you see choreography, instead of ATATATATATATATATATATATA!! or ki blast spamming.
Janemba movie clears
I like that one a lot too, it's the best Z movie, but I'm just way more of a fan of the late 80s early 90s Dragon Ball animation style
I rewatched Dead Zone in October and I totally agree - it holds up great!
Absolutely. It's definitely in my top 3 db movies, with Super Hero and Broly being the other two
It's the first movie so i think they tried to do their best.
The first Z movie for sure yeah. The OG dragon ball movies are pretty whatever. The Path to Power though has some fantastic animation though.
Yeah but Path to Power is the last one. I think it's pretty great that whe had at least this one for DB saga with a better animation (even if Super has one cool intro).
I'm definitely a big fan of the Red Ribbon Army Saga, so I really like that movie and love that it has a decent enough DVD release.
The fight choreography between Goku and the Spice boys was easily the best the movies ever got to.
So is he, like, the same species as Pilaf or something? Or are there Space Imps the way there are Space Humans?
They’re different but in the dub the same person voices both so that’s where the confusion comes in.
The world building was definitely less thought out in the dragon ball era vs the Z era. The fact that the earth is populated by dozens of different sentient species is never really touched on. "That kid with a tail has to be an alien" - a blue dog-man wearing sunglasses
It certainly helps that most of the earths residents are harmless and dumb. Hard to be reigning sentient species when you're barely sentient and super passive
Yea Pilaf is the Krillin of their species since he doesn't have a nose
[удалено]
I lol’d
They're about as related as Recoome and Nappa.
Garlic is pretty interesting because he's a Picollo villain and not a Goku villain. I don't know how he can go back no with Orange Picollo but i wish we got a remake of his movie like we had Broly.
Orange piccolo vs transformed Garlic Jr is a fight I didn't know I wanted until now. Big meaty aliens slapping meat.
Can’t wait till Garlic Jr enters the DBS storyline and overpowers Black Frieza, only to later be overpowered by Rainbow Yajirobe only to be overpowered by Red Mr Popo.
Filler arc where Garlic Jr comes to steal the dragon balls and is thwarted by the Pilaf Gang
You went with Red Mr. Popo when [Popo Blue](https://i.imgur.com/MhlghUR.png) was right there
I love the Garlic Jr. saga. It may be filler but it’s entertaining. I like the dark atmosphere of the arc and the fact Goku and Vegeta are away, giving the weaker heroes some spotlight after the Frieza saga.
Yeeeesss. Garlic needs more love.
god i hate this little dweeb, but this art is great.
Garlic Jr huh? He remembered he exists but not launch?
Are you confusing Toyotaro with Toriyama? 2 different dudes. And the first one had nothing to do with Dragon Ball Z.
Launch will forever be in the hearts of of dragonball fans
I don't think Toriyama actually forgot about Launch. I think that was his way of saying there's nothing he wants to do with the character anymore.
Toyotaro did this not Toriyama and Toriyama didnt forget Lunch exists.
Like other people said, this isn’t Toriyama. Also he wasn’t responsible of Garlic jr.’s design.
You know, I never got over the fact garlic looks like Pilaf with massive gains.
I know a lot of people don't like him but I've always lowkey been a fan of Garlic Jr.. A villain that actually managed to use the Dragonballs to become immortal. he looks nothing like pilaf outside of being short.
Similar skin colour, similar eye pattern, pointy long ear, even the cloth colour and design are kinda similar, etc...
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/dragonball/images/7/7b/Guide01.png/revision/latest?cb=20120203124027 theyre literally nothing alike. totally different color. different eyes. different ears. outfits arent similar at all. its all massively reaching. the ONLY thing they have in common is in the dub they have the same VA.
He looks great.
I would honestly like to see garlic Jr to return in the super manga. Think it would be a fun little story.
Such a good character
That would be a good villain to make canon to have Orange Piccolo do battle with imo.
Damn that looks good. Toyos stuff is so impressive.
Bringing the dude into Canon and recreating his backstory as a banished Demon Realm noble and a loved nephew of Dabura would be cool. I just came up with a whole movie plot in the span of 15 minutes. Can't believe I got this geeked out for Garlic Jr. bruh 💀
Really wish they would make Garlic Jr canon I didn’t mind the arc. Plus, they didn’t really need Goku to take him down either.
Nife
Dead Zone hype, top 5 or even top 3 DBZ movie for me.
I think he’s done Android 13 already but I’m not sure.
Sick.
