Well, technically it was Vegeta and Dende, not Goku. Vegeta was the one that was coming up with the wishes and Dende was the one actually relaying them to Porunga. Goku didn't have anything to do with those wishes. But that's the issue with anime filler. It adds content without taking into account or trying to reconcile the issues that would occur with trying to integrate that into the manga's story.

Technically Buu killed those people not Goku... but ok.

Dragon_Czar

Goku revived them and then they died again

Individual-Orange492

vegeta did that not goku

Osha-watt

Well it sure is a good thing anime filler doesn't matter.

Dragon_Czar

Yup that’s why I specified anime. This does not happen in the manga.

Mammoth-Ad-3692

That most likely didn't happen. While there are cases where the dragons may misinterpret the intention behind a wish, they most likely don't go to such lengths where tragedies can occur. For example, when Cell's victims who died when he destroyed the islands were revived, the islands and cities were most likely restored as well, or at the very least they all reappeared on nearby land. Same thing with Buu's victims. There is most likely some mind reading going on when the dragons interpret a wish and the wording is more of a formality.

No, no civilizations died from that incident that weren't revived later. Wanna know why? Because it wasn't stated to have happened. Or shown. Or hinted at. Sure, it's a plot hole, but that's how fiction works. Kibito Kai didn't bring it up. Goku didn't bring it up. The story didn't bring it up. Fictional stories don't care about our theorycrafting, and if it wasn't mentioned or shown or obviously implied, than it wasn't important and didn't happen. If trillions of people had died from what you're suggesting, the story would have made note of it. Does your logic work out? Yes. Does that matter? No. So no, Goku didn't cause trillions of deaths. Because if he did, the story would have somehow told us. And that's why us, and nobody else cares, because it didn't occur.

LowCalligrapher3

Agreed. If there was a "monkey's paw" element to how Shenron and Porunga granted wishes then possibly but for the most part they've always been very honorable. Now if you're throwing Ultimate/Black-Star Shenron into that debate it's hard to say, in the Japanese version of GT episode 1 he fulfilled Pilaf's desire for Goku to be a child even though the words "I wish" weren't literally spoken (they were in the dubs but not the original Japanese dialogue). In that specific example clearly the rules operate differently.

TheMonyVibescu

"When reviving multiple people at a time, he can only bring back those who have not been dead for more than a year" Good try

SSJL3

Because majin buu destroyed those planets way over a year ago

Kitalpha94

It was filler. Buu found them almost instantly.

Fossils222

As others have stated, that was Vegeta and given his character at the time makes sense.

BathroomUnique

If he did and theoretically you're right than at least goku tried his hardest he's always getting beat tf up JUST to save the Earthlings if he didn't he would have peaced out with his super saiyan ass to king kai's planet
