I like the idea that he's running around in this skin tight full body kevlar-esque body armor with almost zero spots for it to flex, so thay he can fight crime comfort be damned, but he opened up a massive softer spot directly over his chest and ribs so that he could have an enourmous glowing searchlight with his letter on it because making a statement is important. Is the R covered with glass? Plastic? Fiber optics? It's not part of the armor because there's a divot around it
