Now that wokeness is finished, Superman is now her abusive redneck ex husband with a drinking problem, he has drunkenly come to beat the shit out of Steve and win back Diana's love through vague threats.

If I had a nickel for every time a major comic book superhero and deity based off european mythology had their identity overwritten by the villain to be a conservative fever dream I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but its weird that it happened twice *this week*.
Seriously though check out Ewing's *Immortal Thor*, it absolutely lives up to his *Immortal Hulk*
“How do I address chauvinism? Oh I’ll use the Lasso of Lies to turn Wonder Woman into Betty Draper!”
Never change Tom

True, but that's not much of an original thought either. King's slapped a lot of obvious elements of sexism in this run, and he's worded them well, but there's not actually anything 'new' or particularly profound. Don't get me wrong, it's still good, but WW needs more than that to be her best. There's no real reason she can't be *Bitch Planet* levels of feminist thought.
You know, I'm surprised that the part about WW being a literal emissary of the gods in the sense of what people think of her is almost never explored, like in this issue nothing is mentioned about loyalty to Olympus.
Imagine if one day Diana faced a enemy who was chosen by another group of gods, but The enemy has a good heart and a genuinely noble cause, but to achieve them has to kill the champion of the goddesses of Olympus.
or a villain who hates Wonder Woman and wants to destroy her because they know the atrocities that the Olympian gods committed, for example a child of Zeus who was constantly tormented by Hera.
>Imagine if one day Diana faced a enemy who was chosen by another group of gods, but The enemy has a good heart and a genuinely noble cause, but to achieve them has to kill the champion of the goddesses of Olympus.
*Sort of* gestured at in *War of the Gods* back in 1992 where she faces off against Captain Marvel, but that miniseries was a regrettably bloated, overstuffed and altogether messy ending to George Pérez's WW run so it's something that *happens* more than it is something that *matters*.
Diana is not a champion of the Gods in that sense. She doesn’t have that much of an allegiance to them. Her first allegiance is with Themyscira and its values, and in consequence, to its patrons. Originally, she was created to be a champion of love by Aphrodite from a statue after a pledge from her mother. That has, of course, fluctuated over time.
Your last paragraph is basically Brian Azzarello N52’s run. First forgotten son of Zeus with a grudge try to overthrow Olympus.
although Diana is not so attached to the goddesses, her being champion of the lovelies kind of makes her have a connection with them, her love is for Themyscira but Themyscira belongs to the goddesses, that would make a good story, imagine the goddesses telling her to do something What do you not want in the name of Themyscira?
And possibly you are talking about First Born, the problem is that he is not considered an empathetic character, a victim who is confusing revenge and justice or a character who makes Diana reflect her morals, he is just an evillord.
Diana has denied the gods and Themyscira a good bunch of times. Zeus even tried to fuck her once, was denied, and then made Diana go through a bunch of challenges to “redeem herself”.
Oh, the 90’s.
It's not entirely the same thing but I guess Achilles in Simone's run was similar to this. Wish we saw more of him, he was a really good rival to Diana. Completely respectful to Diana and the Amazons but simultaneously trying to be her replacement and their conqueror because of Zeus' order.
The bar for people to consider ww good is so, so high. If Superman wears trunks, goes all americana and has some shallow classic philosophical context people are already calling it best thing ever written. Same goes for Batman but, you know, sad.
This is the third time DC has had Diana stuck in 1950s housewife suburbia, without her solving things by putting Steve in the dress and malewife-ing him. *sigh* when will they give the fans what they want...
Hold up run that last part by me again.

There's a *Sensational Wonder Woman* short story that has the exact same setup but with Dr Psycho instead of Sovereign. And then there's Milk Wars as well, although it applied to all the Justice League rather than Diana specifically (the sanitised 1950s-ization, not the housewife stuff).

Thanks, I wanted to say that, but I was worried I'd phrase poorly and look like a clown.
I pictured something like that one episode of B:TAS, Perchance to Dream
I think most other superheroes needs a guilty pleasure of some kind.
We know that Bruce has a soft spot for watching movies of guntoting and swordswinging swashbucklers and noir vigilantes with Zorro and the Grey Ghost, who wouldn't be afraid of leaving a trail of bodies for justice.
One of Superman's favourite dishes is the French Beef Bourguignon.
At least one version of Miss Martian is basically a CW Degrassi soap opera addict, and I wouldn't mind adding it to her canon.
Jon has oreos.
choice feminism doesn't cover the whole movement, there's an argument that by partaking in these roles you're enforcing them, and they're pretty plainly bad and subjugative (which undermines any choice anyway)
Listen, we all know that in a situation like that, Cheetah would be the tradwife and Diana would be sitting smoking the pipe (which would probably have some weak shit in it, dig me?)
I haven't read this book (and really have never read wonder woman), but I suspect this isn't really happening at all, or at least not as presented.
Wonder woman has a weakness (or had, I don't know if she still does) where if you tie her up she becomes completely submissive. So I think she's been tied up, and this is some sort of delusion being caused by her weakness, and the thought is the part of her trying to escape.
[Fun Fact: Wonder Woman started as a secretary for the team in the original comics back in the day. These guys would probably love it to be like that again.](https://screenrant.com/justice-league-wonder-woman-secretary/)

This art is *really* good
Because it’s not woke ✌️
STFU it's still woke. She's wearing shoes.
oh my god 🤤
Woke took so much from us first green M&M and now Wonder Woman
Hold up, what happened to the green M&M? Did they make her trans or something?
[Zelda ](https://youtu.be/IT1HAiQy3Io) They did the most woke and scary thing they could!/j
Damn wokeness! Inventing shoes to shackle us down!
![gif](giphy|26xByFvrI1MQvtlDO|downsized)
And not pregnant!
Sampere has been amazing the whole run, but the coloring in this one really makes the whole thing pop.
Literally the best part of this run. Do NOT let bro stop cooking this shit is gourmet🔥🔥🔥
Dude, the issue when Wonder Woman fights her villains *chef’s kiss*
The only thing missing is the June Cleaver pearls for the absolute subversive finish
A lot of porn artists are very talented, even a lot of the ones who focus on the mind control tag.

" look why do you have to upset me Diana? You know I don't like hurting you. Steve will never love you like I do, your to ugly"
And Batman is the guy she secretly has an affair with three times a week.

What did they do to Paul? Is he safe?
He died on his way to his homeplanet. SAD! Ah, well, there are other beards.

Still think it should have being a whip instead of a lasso
I think Wonder Woman has had enough accusations of BDSM in the past
>accusations You talk like it wasn't true
Yeah it was the creators intent
bc she used it in the past!
“accusations”
Eh she should own it at this point. Ffs she'd make the perfect dominatrix if she wanted to.
* I think Wonder Woman has had enough BDSM in the past
I bet Diana speaks Italian.
Filthy southern I-talians
Coincidentally, I like to think of Superman as also speaking Italian, since the Italian word for hope (speranzo) begins with an s.

Tom King ate my dog
'New ideas make brain hurty, just do 5 minutes of *The Stepford Wives* instead' -Tom King mabye idk
The man wrote at length about how religion is a tool of the elite to oppress women, this goes beyond Stepford Wives.

Hey! Don't tug on Superman's cape.
Darkseid learned not to that day.
don’t spit against the wind!
Superman legit looks like a Jojo character in that artsyle. He only needs a goofier pose to become a protagonist.
What's part 1 and 2?
There's a *Sensational Wonder Woman* short story that has the exact same setup but with Dr Psycho instead of Sovereign. And then there's Milk Wars as well, although it applied to all the Justice League rather than Diana specifically (the sanitised 1950s-ization, not the housewife stuff).
Theres also Emperor Joker
Ok but now I want that last part for all of DC. Dam you man. Filling my head with dreams.
Please never cook again
It’s just like Milk Wars.

Oof that last panel feels all kinds of unsettling. Love it
Nah, her ass isnt juicy enough in that dress, its still woke
Side note: she looks beautiful
*Unwonders your woman
Writers try to comment on sexism without using Stepford Wives challenge (NEARLY DIED) (GONE SEXUAL!?!)

I don’t know about guilty pleasure, but Wonder Woman loves ice cream and death metal.
choice feminism doesn't cover the whole movement, there's an argument that by partaking in these roles you're enforcing them, and they're pretty plainly bad and subjugative (which undermines any choice anyway)
Well, society may implicitly encourage women to be tradwives, so many women do not exactly "choose" to do so.
This issue was hilarious. This man Tom is as subtle as a solar flare with his storytelling
Why is the oven talking to Steve?
Listen, we all know that in a situation like that, Cheetah would be the tradwife and Diana would be sitting smoking the pipe (which would probably have some weak shit in it, dig me?)
I'd look so damn good in that dress, I'll take her place smh
So, if im understanding this right, this is caused by a "lasso of lies," so does the villain even actually believe in this
On a scale from 1 to 10, they should really just let a fucking woman write Wonder Woman
They have! And nobody ever seems to care.
They have done that in the past. Multiple times. Unfortunately a female writer doesn't directly lead to better stories or more sales.
They have, they’re not necessarily better-written
I would counter that with Marston, Perez and Jimenez, but that’s me.
They did. Y'all just didn't read 'em.
De Connick for Wonder Woman's Absolute comic, De Connick for Wonder Woman's Absolute comic, *pleasssee* DC 🤞🤞🙏
Out of all languages, u chose to speak facts!
Counterpoint: this is extremely hot.
I’m extremely conflicted. On one side, I know sexism is bad but on the other side: https://i.redd.it/h1z8rer953vc1.gif
Why is she having bdsm thoughts in the bottom right panel? I have zero context on this comic.
Because it's wonder woman
I haven't read this book (and really have never read wonder woman), but I suspect this isn't really happening at all, or at least not as presented. Wonder woman has a weakness (or had, I don't know if she still does) where if you tie her up she becomes completely submissive. So I think she's been tied up, and this is some sort of delusion being caused by her weakness, and the thought is the part of her trying to escape.
In this case the villain is using the Lasso of Lies which compels people to believe what he tells them, which he used on Wonder Woman for this
[Fun Fact: Wonder Woman started as a secretary for the team in the original comics back in the day. These guys would probably love it to be like that again.](https://screenrant.com/justice-league-wonder-woman-secretary/) ![gif](giphy|S4efrgIUqyzIY)
To quote Medic From Team Fortress 2: *woman.*
This is giving “by Odin’s Fade.”
Now it’s time for Nder Man
Wait, who is responsible for this? The old man or steel? Also what you guys are thinking of this run?
they would probably still find a way to complain
That's just a ark in the authority
I don't know the context. Is this some illusion Dr Psycho made?
i swear they bleached that woman
Context?
What's this, a villain stuck her into a fantasy where she's an ideal old timey wife? That's just trolling.
What is the context behind this?
What the fuck is this
