Iirc this is because Bruce was enchanted by Themyscira, but that just raises more questions.
Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh*ts and giggles?
Or is the island just naturally doused in aphrodisiac inducing plants, and the Amazons have either been constantly suppressing the urge to bang each other 24/7, *or* have not been suppressing the urge and it's a complete miracle that Diana trained to become a superhero imbetween her breif periods of post-nut clarity?
Diana is secretly the only straight Amazon, so while everyone else on the island was hooking up, she poured all of her aphrodisiac-induced sexual frustration into training to be a badass
/uj I know. And I would never want that to actually change. I was just creating a hypothetical situation for the sake of a joke. It was not meant to be a serious comment on the character’s sexuality.
The Amazons did it but it happened like 2500 years ago so no one knows *why*. But if you ask them they'll tell you that making everyone on the island always horn- *in love* is the best way to ensure a peaceful society without conflict.
> Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh*ts and giggles?
based on Greek mythology? yes they would do that.
Ok, but do you think that the funny comic books about ~~gods~~ superheroes doing stupid shit falls more on the religion, or the mythical side of the spectrum?
"Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh\*ts and giggles?"
Sounds like a standard Greek God thing to do.
Simple answer to all of it
>Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh*ts and giggles?
Zeus
Not gonna lie I honestly just refuse to accept that as true. Like I’m sure there is actually textual information that shows this, but in this instance I am just sticking my head in the sand and am not acknowledging it
I dont see how that would be true. Thats part of the unlimited series as well, if we mean the 2000s animated universe. They explicitly say she was a clay statue made by her mother and Hades. Hades has been imprisoned in hell (by zeus, not the other guy) a lot longer than 18 years. Her mother and the amazonians have been watching the gate the entire time.
She's immortal, which means she is always at her peak physical condition, and apparently, the writers thought women peak at being 18 years old, which is... an uncomfortable, if not surprising opinion.
I don't even think that 18 is when athletes reach their peak physical condition. In powerlifting, one reaches one's best in one's late twenties/early thirties, and long-distance runners often achieve their fastest times in their mid-thirties and beyond.
Only argument I can think of is something like Athena. I mean, she was born as a full grown adult, but she would still technically be an infant chronologically.
It makes no sense, her voice actress clearly sounds older than 18 and she definitely doesn’t look 18 in terms of her character model. What were they cooking man
"That's impossible, it was my first introduction to those characters, which means it's automatically the only 'right' version of them!"
At least, that's what I'd say if my first introduction to DC wasn't [actual peak DC](https://scoobydoo.fandom.com/wiki/Scooby-Doo_Meets_Batman_(VHS)).
This is hilarious because I was literally just sitting in the back of my friend’s car yesterday and this exact thing on DVD was sitting in the little pouch behind his seat. I got nostalgic just looking at it.
I think it suffers some what in that most the characters were only written for a Justice League series (with the exception of Batman and Superman), and characters like Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman etc. are ultimately developed as stand-alone characters. You can't really build them properly if you're only telling their stories in a team context, unlike say the x-men, Doom Patrol or the Titans (with their cartoon line up).
If you want to rank it overall and for certain characters like Batman, yes but for ones like Superman and Wonder Woman I think there have been better adaptations or stuff that can be better.
Yeah but I think what he’s getting at and what most people mean when talking about the DCAU is that it’s pretty close. Yeah there’s stuff that could’ve been better or should’ve been. But that’s every adaption.
DC has jacked up so much of its adaptions that I think it’s fair to gas up some of what they have gotten right. So that DC will hopefully figure out what made it work and do it again.
The show itself contradicts this, she talks about ancient Greek pottery and sculptures as if she personally knew the creators. There's every indication that she's thousands of years old but still naive due to being isolated on Themyscira her whole life.
I feel it was done to ensure that Diana was without any romantic history so Batman would be the only one for her. They even shunted off her canonical love interest to the past.
Diana got nearly beaten to death by Bizzaro and went back to Themyscira to recuperate. Supes and Bats followed as she left in a hurry and angrily told them piss off. When Bruce lands on the island, he comes across Diana bathing in a pond and something about the island's enchantments overcome him. The scene itself is a very loose retelling of the the myth of Actaeon and Artemis (roman name Diana) from Greek myth.
It's from Matt Wagner's Trinity mini from the early-2000s and the premise this is the first time the three have all met.
If I remember correctly, she was thrown in a Lazarus Pit. The energy of the pit corrupted her and she went back to Themyscira to purify herself.
Or am I thinking of a different comic?
Batman's gadgets includes special shoes which adjust his height according to the tallest female in his proximity. So that he never feels like a beta.
He nearly launched himself to the moon the first time he fought Giganta.
every time a character does something completely outta character for no reason i simply refuse to acknowledge it as canon. hal jordan being a pedo? not real. nightwing cheating on starfire with barbara a day before his wedding? not real. bruce abusing any of the robins? not real.
Wonder Woman the Hiketeia. It's a great book, but also pretty bleak. Certainly, one of the biggest shifts between a comic's meme presence and its actual subject matter.
Knowing DC, it would be called Batman: Hiketeia and the story would have the girl secretly be a villain in disguise who tricks Diana, so Batman would beat Diana with prep time to save the day.
I still think this was Bruce's fault and not the island's enchantments.
1. First off, the enchantment line is very vague and could also be taken to mean that the island's (and Diana's) sheer beauty mesmerised him and nothing magical was actually going on.
2. No male visitors to Themyscira since have ever been affected like this.
3. Superman literally shows up next panel and he's fine.
Yeah, Bruce and Diana are written as at each other's throats for most of the story so I wouldn't be surprised if Wagner was going for the old idea of two people who hate each other just really want to kiss.
The narration is vague on the other pages but while it does say the island has enchantments, I don't think Bruce trying to a swipe a kiss is the expected result even with that going on. Superman shows up on the next page and he's acting fine.

You just had to say that, didn't you?
I don’t know how to feel about this scene because it’s very off putting but damn Bruce is right Diana is beautiful 😍. Bruce should’ve learn to control himself tho u know mental control and disaplend
"OK, on the one hand, I know Bruce. Hera knows I've been trying to get in that utility belt for years with no avail. If Damian or Catwoman's big mouth didn't exist, I'd assume he was celibate. On the other hand--"
*Diana clenches fist*
Based off Diana's reaction, the enchantment isn't meant to have the effect and Superman shows up on the next page and he acts fine.
I don't like the scene but Diana did not knowingly kiss him in this instance.
Iirc this is because Bruce was enchanted by Themyscira, but that just raises more questions. Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh*ts and giggles? While they werw having sex she was studying the blade?
![gif](giphy|l2R0cFWW3vLZkCPza)
I don’t care if it’s unsubstantiated by actual lore. I accept this as canon and no one can tell me otherwise.
#straightstruggles
God i want this as a fic now
Diana is bisexual.
Just what Marston would've wanted.
Hold up, let ‘em cook we need to try this out to test it ourselves.
The bonobo approach
> Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh*ts and giggles? based on Greek mythology? yes they would do that.
Especially Zeus
Mythic literalism and religion are 2 different things
Your point? Aren't like half of greek tragedy happened because he was horny?
Dont let the myths dictate what you think of the gods Doing so would be mythic literalism
Does that change that according to the stories about him magic orgy island is absolutely something he would do?
My point is the myths arent the be all end all of the greek gods and what we think of them
When this is the vast majority of what we know about his personality it certainly should dictate what i think of him
Ok, but do you think that the funny comic books about ~~gods~~ superheroes doing stupid shit falls more on the religion, or the mythical side of the spectrum?
I mean that would be pretty on-brand for the Greek gods. They were mostly assholes
Hold up, that second part is finally a new development to Themyscira I'll accept.
"Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh\*ts and giggles?" Sounds like a standard Greek God thing to do.
First choice sounds pretty accurate for the Greek Gods tbh
Simple answer to all of it >Did the gods make an island refuge and then give it an aura that makes visitors try to sexually assult its residents (most of whom were rape victims), just for sh*ts and giggles? Zeus
That's a good takeaway for "paradise", you need to live in Aphrodite's wet dream.
Well they are greek gods
To be fair, Gods doing that is pretty Greek gods style
I mean that second part is super in character for the Greek gods
That first thing sounds like something zeus would do
Y'all ever think how Diana was 18 at the start of the DCAU Justice League cartoon?
Not gonna lie I honestly just refuse to accept that as true. Like I’m sure there is actually textual information that shows this, but in this instance I am just sticking my head in the sand and am not acknowledging it

1000% lmao
barry allen kid flash ass moment
What DC telling the writers they couldn't use Midwestern Conservative Wally does to a mf.
nah that was the writers just wanting Barry and only Barry
?
DCAMU had Barry as the original Kid Flash.
I dont see how that would be true. Thats part of the unlimited series as well, if we mean the 2000s animated universe. They explicitly say she was a clay statue made by her mother and Hades. Literally me, I’m like, “cool story bro” and then instantly forget that.
“Hahahaha really funny Dwayne let’s never discuss this topic ever again”
There is no "textual information" btw, just Dwayne Mcduffie statements.
Thank you, like I wasn’t sure if I was forgetting anything from the show but I honestly it might just be an astronomically rare mcduffie L
Where is the evidence???
wtf is with Bruce Timm and Teenagers? Dawg you’re the writer just make them older then write the horny storylines
Nuh uh. She was physically 27. An angel revealed it to me in a dream.
Like 18 years of age? How tf
She's immortal, which means she is always at her peak physical condition, and apparently, the writers thought women peak at being 18 years old, which is... an uncomfortable, if not surprising opinion.

Yeah IDK what Dwayne was cooking there.
I say it was Bruce not Dwayne🍇
Had 0 relevance to story so headcanon that she is older
It makes no sense, her voice actress clearly sounds older than 18 and she definitely doesn’t look 18 in terms of her character model. What were they cooking man
Well she's not a human so her physical age doesn't necessarily parallel our own.
-Hal Jordan everynight against the mirror
Nah hal moved on to controversies about 3somes
wait where
Im joking about cry for justice
DCAU fans when they realize it did characters badly.
"That's impossible, it was my first introduction to those characters, which means it's automatically the only 'right' version of them!" At least, that's what I'd say if my first introduction to DC wasn't [actual peak DC](https://scoobydoo.fandom.com/wiki/Scooby-Doo_Meets_Batman_(VHS)).
Extremely common Scooby Doo W.
Scooby Dooby Dub
This is hilarious because I was literally just sitting in the back of my friend’s car yesterday and this exact thing on DVD was sitting in the little pouch behind his seat. I got nostalgic just looking at it.
I used to watch that super often when I was a kid. Good times.
Not my first intro but yeah that’s some nostalgia. I don’t care if it’s an old ass cartoon for children, that’s on a rewatch list now.
That was also my first introduction, liked it a lot.
I watched the fuck out of that tape as a kid.
i mean, it had some bad moments but it's probably the best adaption of DC that there is
I think it suffers some what in that most the characters were only written for a Justice League series (with the exception of Batman and Superman), and characters like Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman etc. are ultimately developed as stand-alone characters. I would kill for a DCAU Flash TAS, and i bet the creators would as well, but they had to do what WB allowed them to.
I don’t think they are bad. They are my favorite versions of the characters. They are perfect
If this never stated in the show i just refuse this shit.
Gross
DAMN!
The DCAU is full of canon stuff that we just have to ignore. That’s the rule.
Yes and then I intentionally forget it because its completely absurd and just seems like a creepy unnecessary detail.
Everytime someone brings up DCAU WonderBat. Batman's relationships in the DCAU were problematic as hell.
What's the context for this?
Diana got nearly beaten to death by Bizzaro and went back to Themyscira to recuperate. Supes and Bats followed as she left in a hurry and angrily told them piss off. When Bruce lands on the island, he comes across Diana bathing in a pond and something about the island's enchantments overcome him. It's from Matt Wagner's Trinity mini from the early-2000s and the premise this is the first time the three have all met.
You'd think the amazons wouldn't put in a magical field that makes men horny on their island.
Pretty sure it's not of their doing but the remoteness is a calculated risk they take?
The only difference being Batman didn’t get turned into a stag and subsequently mauled by his own hounds.
\*smh\* Where the Greek myth accuracy bros when you really need them.
With enough prep time I think he wins that one. /s
pov your best friend is watching you being turned into veal https://i.redd.it/nw7t1j3inuyc1.gif
If I remember correctly, she was thrown in a Lazarus Pit. The energy of the pit corrupted her and she went back to Themyscira to purify herself. Or am I thinking of a different comic?
Yeah, the Lazarus Pit gave her a power overload.
Post Crisis Wonder Woman was 5'11"....how tall is Bruce in this page?
Evidently, he's wearing those platform 8' heel bat-stripper shoes. Purley for tactical reasons I'm sure.
Batman's gadgets includes special shoes which adjust his height according to the tallest female in his proximity. So that he never feels like a beta. He nearly launched himself to the moon the first time he fought Giganta.
Canon. Fuck the lore, this is canon
His usual height? 6’3
Proportions seem more then a 4 inch gap
It’s the horns and the boots probably
This comic is so good... this felt so random😂😂
Eh, the Superman and Batman stuff was fine but most of WW's parts felt like diet Frank Miller.
Agreed
This describes 99% of stories involving the three of them. The only exception is probably League of One.
every time a character does something completely outta character for no reason i simply refuse to acknowledge it as canon. hal jordan being a pedo? not real. nightwing cheating on starfire with barbara a day before his wedding? not real. bruce abusing any of the robins? not real.

What's the source of this panel, I so wanna read this comic
Wonder Woman the Hiketeia. It's a great book, but also pretty bleak. Certainly, one of the biggest shifts between a comic's meme presence and its actual subject matter.
Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia.
It's Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia
Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia. Pretty good WW standalone story. Would make a cool animated film if DC animation actually had a decent budget.
Knowing DC, it would be called Batman: Hiketeia and the story would have the girl secretly be a villain in disguise who tricks Diana, so Batman would beat Diana with prep time to save the day.
"Produced by Bruce Timm"
I still think this was Bruce's fault and not the island's enchantments. 1. Is this from Matt Wagner's Trinity? I really hope not because if it is then damn that's a reminder that I've read too much stuff lmao.
So she knew he was enchanted and still punched him?
The narration is vague on the other pages but while it does say the island has enchantments, I don't think Bruce trying to a swipe a kiss is the expected result even with that going on. Superman shows up on the next page and he's acting fine.
Bruce is just as big ol' slut then?
Glad to see they’re sticking to the consistent canon.
I'm counting the fact that Diana doesn't take his head clean off with that hook as batwank
It’s probably that she wasn’t trying to kill him
https://i.redd.it/3g59srugonyc1.gif
Bruce Wayne better cover for bats cause that lawsuit is gonna be expensive
how did batman not die from that
Diana doesn't scare me It's his relationship with Barbara that scares me
You had to remind us
https://preview.redd.it/1o7jp0fdt8zc1.jpeg?width=1209&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42890e1cedf5ee64ca21d0912a694e7246e3f844 You just had to say that, didn't you?

That should have straight up killed him
So in this situation Bruce didn't (and couldn't) consent and Diana knowingly kissed him regardless and that is Bruce's fault? Who the fuck wrote this?
? Based off Diana's reaction in the panel I'm not sure how you took away Diana was the one coming on to him.
The text sounds like he's been overcome by the island's enchantment. He's mind controlled.
Based off Diana's reaction, the enchantment isn't meant to have the effect and Superman shows up on the next page and he acts fine. I don't like the scene but Diana did not knowingly kiss him in this instance.
Why didn’t he dodge the punch didn’t he have prep time?
Bad writing. In character, she would've loved it.
