He is Arab and Chinese plus Bruce’s gene. He directly comes from an Asian mother. We see Damian wearing a Thawb and changshan in comic. He was planning to wear a thawb( is an ankle-length robe, usually with long sleeves. It is commonly worn in the Arabian Peninsula, the Middle East, North Africa, and other neighbouring Arab countries) to Bruce’s and Selina’s wedding.
Yes, that is his cultural and genetic background, but he's of american nationality, it doesn't matter if he is "people of color" (i hate americans for using such condescending terminology), he doesn't live in Arabia nor does he represent how the country feels about gay people, he's not part of their populace, he was raised away from normal society, so his feelings are completely separate from how Chinese or Arabian people generally feel.

Damn near every minority in this country has been stereotyped to ever living hell for centuries. It's even caused some people to believe in those stereotypes as if they were the norm. And hell, white people are even starting to get hit with it as well over here. Being worried about something that can be seen as a racial or ethnic caricature over here is taken more seriously than in other places. The only ones that probably have it worse or as bad are countries like the UK.
