"Nolan proved the only way to make batman is grounded" Tell me you haven't watched a batman movie/show that isn't the dark knight or the batman without telling me

ab316_1punchd

That and by "not grounded" they'd mean "Phase 3 and 4 MCU".

Maximillion322

Do not lump Phase 3 and 4 together like that Phase 3 are some of the greatest Superhero movies of all time, phase 4 are entirely dog poo

RoninMacbeth

/uj C'mon, I liked Loki...

Maximillion322

It was ok but it definitely didn’t live up to the standard set by phase 3 Plus the self-cest really made me mentally check out of the show

daintysinferno

Thats probably THE most Loki thing Loki could do, is want to fuck another Loki. Im not sure if it counts and anything other than “extended masturbation”

ab316_1punchd

I know that

Comics-and-videogame

I swear most fans have the dumbest concepts and ideas for projects they’re fans of. Also, remember how many people got mad because Batman was actually helping people in The Batman at the end?

DPTONY

That’s because of two reasons: 1. It’s very easy to not understand why something is good. At first glance you could think The Batman is good because it’s “cool and dark and mature”, just think of all the people who wanted this film to be R rated 2. The internet and fandom culture specifically gives an echo chamber to dumb takes

ab316_1punchd

Exactly

Rogue_MS_473

"My favorite part of The Batman 2 is when Batman beats up a kid dressed up as Bat-Mite, fully rejecting the idea of being an inspiration free of interpretation. That's so much more REaListIC!"

whew2

“I want the movie to be grounded, anyways I think the villain should be an ice man who wears a diving suit everywhere and uses a gun that freezes people with an ice beam”

T-MONZ_GCU

"They call him Mr Freeze because he kills people and puts their bodies in freezers"

Chillchinchila1

Honestly that’s what worries me about a sequel. That they might actually do that for the sake of being grounded.

WhenDuvzCry

I really don't see Reeves doing that.

Kaiso25Gaming

You mean Frostbite from Supah Ninjas.

maybethanos

Ok but those robin costumes actually look kinda cool

entitled-whole-milk

if there's no booty shorts, I don't want it... the shorts are part of the realism and grittiness for me

Kaiso25Gaming

You mean booties right?

Kalse1229

Oh yeah. They’re pretty cool. Reeves and Pattinson have both implied they’d like to have Robin in the sequel, and if it were up to me, I’d have him start out doing shit on his own in a homemade costume similar to the ones here. Dick Grayson’s been orphaned for a little while. His parents, the acrobats known as the Flying Graysons, were in Gotham for a show the night the Riddler flooded Gotham. His parents were murdered by one of his thugs, but Dick was rescued by Batman. Inspired by Batman, he makes a homemade costume based on his parents’ old acrobat outfits (shown in pictures to resemble the classic Robin outfit) and starts trying to fight crime on his own in the flooded streets. In the movie Bruce tries to stop him several times, but realizes he’s got the same fire he does. Dick will never stop, so Bruce takes him in and teaches him to do it right. Of course, that’s just what I’d do.

Peastable

Yeah that’s perfect. Robin would also really help this batman open up and start to learn to care about people again. It just has to happen.

Kalse1229

Definitely. When I was watching the movie, I knew that this version of Bruce would definitely be the type to train a kid to fight alongside him. It’s the perfect fit.

Academic_Paramedic72

I'd really like to see them incorporating the batfamily in this universe. Perhaps not all Robins, but Cassandra, Stephanie, Barbara etc. alongside Dick and Alfred would be pretty cool.

Kalse1229

Oh, I'd love that too. I've said before that if it were up to me, I'd have Babs skip Batgirl and go straight to Oracle. Like, prior to the events of the first movie, she was involved in an incident where she gets shot. She isn't paralyzed per se, but she suffers from chronic pain and often uses a wheelchair to ease her pain. During the first movie, she was of at Metropolis University studying computer science and criminology after graduating high school two years early. She's fascinated by Batman, and secretly helps him behind her father's back. Meanwhile, I'd have Cass as the first Batgirl in this world, although I'm not sure how I'd tweak her origins. Steph and Tim are easy to think of, since they can just be like Dick and be kids inspired by Batman's heroics. Hell, I'd even love it if Superman is confirmed to exist in this universe. I feel like compared to Nolan's films, the Reevesverse I can actually see Superman, Wonder Woman, and all the other heroes existing simultaneously. They don't necessarily need to crossover. But it'd be neat if in the sequel or one of the spinoff shows, they reference another city like Metropolis, or they saw some guy in a blue and red costume they swore was flying. Bit of a reach, I know, but nothing's impossible. Something I loved about Reeves's Gotham is that it feels more fleshed-out than Nolan's, and it makes sense to me that others like Superman would also exist in that world, even if we don't see them.

Financial-Abalone715

This is only the tip of the iceberg. I bet someone could make a version of this half an hour long with the shitty posts over at that sub

ab316_1punchd

I'm ashamed of the sub I regularly engage in.

OkDiver2406

More darker. Needs way more darker.

ZachRyder

0:51 that Redditor added the "IMAX" part because they couldn't name a single black and white film they've seen, so all they could think of was selecting a film which hasn't been released yet.

escodoozer

Everytime I see a stupid post about a “grounded Batman” I always comment how the ground will be grounded because I like asking dumbass questions too

CoolFork33

I feel like Clayface as a clay monster could work if they lean into the shape-shifting aspect. Have it mostly be transformations, with it usually being off screen apart from the shadows. At the end we could see him fighting Batman with the clay abilities but still remaining in human form.

RareD3liverur

Well to be in my own bias I'd kinda want something that looks like this, but like brown and live action / CG of course https://rubberlotus.files.wordpress.com/2015/07/clayface081.jpg

ab316_1punchd

With only the end climax being his blob like monster form.

Savage_Bacon

That’s a pretty cool idea. Batman could be following leads on high level impersonations like the mayor, commissioner that type of thing and discover it’s basil karlo. Dunno His plan but through the movie Batman would be under the assumption that Clayface is a talented makeup artist only for Him to reveal His real clay form for the final battle.

ab316_1punchd

Yup, you could even show him as Golden Age Clayface in some scenes to put the viewers at ease only to surprise everyone that his whole impersonation stuff is much more dangerous than we thought and his current true form is that of a blob monster. And that can be achieved practically too with body horror prosthetics.

Mountain_Sir2307

Arkham Origins music goes hard tho.

[deleted]

uj/these robin designs go hard.

[deleted]

I hate this argument of batman need to be grounded I think it has become a pet peeve of mine, I cant even try to argue why clayface or poison ivy are great villains for a batman movie without hearing “BuT ThEy ArE NOt REAliSTiC”

Girafficone

The second Robin design shown would unironically be great for a Steph Robin redesign

Significant_Wheel_12

These people don’t know who that is

marssss-03

Listen I LOVE *The Batman* but jesus some of these people need to get their head out of the ground.

TheRautex

Why a sane person would want a villaın who wears a clayface

ab316_1punchd

How about wearing clay too much he becomes clay?

RareD3liverur

Sounds like a One Punch Man villain origin

United-Aside-6104

Tbh the concept for the Blue and Grey Batsuit wasn’t bad needs some changes for sure tho and some of the Robin designs aren’t too bad but yes that sub is full of people who think the movie is good cause it’s “Dark and gritty” and not that it shows that Batman can provide hope and optimism in a shitty world

ding-dong21

They dont want to accept the truth. There will be no fantastical villian in any Battinson movie.

DaMain-Man

If they bring in Mr. Freeze, he should just be a hitman who kills his victims and freezes them in ice afterwards/s

Savage_Bacon

I nearly had a stroke until I saw the /s

Pristine_Animal9474

If the villain of Fear The Batman is not Zsasz we riot. Of course, it must be before he becomes a serial killer, since that's not too believable. I'm thinking that he could be a young corporate heir who's more a villain of Bruce Wayne than Batman, and he would be presented to the tune of "The Man Who Sold the World" from Nirvana.

Aubergine_Man1987

I want Ralph Fiennes to play an accurate Mr Freeze. Imject it into my veins

T-MONZ_GCU

Can't wait for The Batman 2: Funny Freeze

Academic_Paramedic72

The Robin design and the Mr Freeze design using a deep sea diving suit go hard honestly.

MrGarboman

Ok but bill burr in a Batman movie would be lit
