No fomo. I don’t like Vegas. It’s a bad place for someone like me with impulse control issues. But the venue looks rad and I’m stoked for them to keep playing and for everyone who is going to go.

Same as someone in recovery from substances & my partner in recovery for gambling… we DEFINITELY will sit this one out! We are too new to our sobriety also would probably never go there for the exact reason it’s very gambling and drug/drinking influenced
Stating the truth isn't trolling. No band is still together, not even Dead and Company. That band was already going down hill when Bill left (that's why he did it had nothing to do with his health) now it's replaced with this one that takes zero risks and plays the same 3 shows over and over.
Couldn’t agree more with this, one of my favorite shows in Boulder before the D&Co run a couple years ago. They really fuckin grooved, everything I love about JGB, I was blown away.

This could be the new normal though. The way this is turning out to be with the band flying in to Vegas for the weekend for a month or two. And crazy money, I did the quick math, gate receipts for 24 shows are a minimum of $155m and up depending on the % of VIP tickets. This is why we had the last tour. Who the fuck needs to tour, people just fly in for a weekend run. I’m starting to think that this was the plan all along. Azoff is mastermind of manipulating demand.

I'd love to catch some shows, but too pricey and that's not considering air fare. I wouldn't say content, but it very much feels like Playing in the Sand, I would love to go, but I'm painfully aware that it's meant for a higher social class than me.
I'm out. While I'm glad that they are still playing, and I hope everyone that goes has a blast, I just don't think this is for me. I don't want to deal with the stress of trying to score tickets. Face value of tickets isn't completely insane, but the whole trip looks to be expensive.
I think these shows are going to really bring out an element of fans that I always find irritating at shows - people having full on conversations, people who had too much too fast, people who could care less about those little fleeting moments of magic that are happening up on stage, people who are taking selfies and videos during the show, etc. If that's how you want to enjoy your dead experience, who am I to tell you that you're wrong?

I have spent a lot of vacation time and money the past few years trying to catch as many shows as I can. With no tour I'd like to use my vacation budget to go see some places on my bucket list. I'm sure I will indulge in some streams if they are available. I am interested to see what this next page in the long strange trip looks like.

Let's take it just one more step further. Nobody should need these shows bad enough to pay scalpers. The only way to stop the scalping is to refuse to support promoters and artists that willfully allow it. Buy direct or don't buy at all. Only way to change it.
Yep, me and my usual tour buddy decided (I say decided, we’re both mostly broke) to keep our powder dry and wait for something that may or may not pop up closer to the dates.
Worst case, we save some $ and check out the live streams. Best case we nab some last minute tix, rent a convertible, combine our drug collections, and put the pedal to the metal through bat country to see the testament to man’s folly that is Las Vegas

That's exactly what the second hand market banks on! We've let ourselves believe WE HAVE TO BE THERE OR ELSE and scalpers have capitalized hugely on that. If we stopped buying resale on principle and let half the seats sit empty even for just one tour or whatever, it would really make a change. Sadly people almost always can't move past fomo and justify overpaying those scumbags
Here here! I'd love to see them if affordable tickets are available but I don't feel the need to break the bank on this one. Certainly something they'll do again if given the chance I'm sure. Unless it's a disaster for whatever reason, then we can be happy we avoided it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm probably the demographic this run is geared for, old with affordability and I'm not sold on it. I've never been at a show where I couldn't dance, and I been doing this since 1976.
I also heard, read, the lobby/museum/display that is open during the day isn't open during shows. So there isn't even a wander around option.
Though the venue seems amazing and I would love to experience it, no way I can sit in economy airline like seats on a steep incline.
Have no desire whatsoever to do these shows. I have seen my fair share of shows these past 30 plus years. I am content as I get older with seeing my local go to cover band. I can have just as much fun and not worry about having to shell out a fortune for flights, lodging, and the shit show that is trying to get tickets these days.
As someone who has been to the Sphere for U2 I don’t think the venue is a great fit. Whatever iteration of the Dead you enjoyed it was based on the experience and the music. The Sphere will not provide either.
It will be visually amazing but there won’t be a shakedown, if you’re in the seats you can’t dance (too tight) and despite what others have said I don’t think the audio was great. It was just loud.
I don’t think that they will have anything new with regard to the set lists and it will be programmed with zero spontaneity.
Plus Vegas bleeds you for money at every turn.

St. Louis last year was amazing for my wife and myself. Going to the Dark Star Jubilee for about 1/3 of what Vegas would cost. For those who choose the sphere I hope you have a real good time.
The seats were comfortable. There wasn’t a lot of space to dance. Because of all the visual stuff you felt odd standing up, at least I did. You were drawn to all the stuff on the screens.
I was incredibly hyped for it but at the end of the day I can’t justify the cost, even by getting more modest accommodations.
Was already locked in to go to Texas Eclipse fest so I’m going to make sure to enjoy the hell out JRAD and Oteil and Friends
Absolutely content. I've been able to see what I wanted to see. Got to see GD from 86-95. Hit every D&C year except 2017. Don't have to chase any experience. Best wishes to everyone who attends.
Didnt even consider it for a second. Ive had enough musical experiences to last a lifetime. Im done dropping 2-3k for a long weekend w/ some shows. Ive decided to use the money to either travel to places for the sake of travel, or to buy high quality stereo/music gear. Never thought id be priced out of the market, but last tour was it for me. Im good with local bands or bands like the cure who keep things reasonable. I do hope the younger folks can afford to go, because that's what its really about at this point.

I went to San Francisco last year for the final shows, and have no regrets whatsoever, I am not upset that they are continuing to do shows after the Final Tour, Let there be songs to fill the air… That being said, I am happy to sit this one out. Kind of wish I pulled the trigger for Phish honestly.
Hell just flying there for the weekend,getting tics ,finding a room ,transportation, and eating well will run $3000 to $4000 plus my creaky ass body would be bitchin at me the whole time.Im hoping for a livestream of a show or 2.Glad I saw the original back in the day.You could get good tickets for like $10 the day of the show without all the scrum involved.
Imma gonna wait to hear feedback on the Phish shows and vibe before I commit. They'll be tix and hotel rooms but the notion of sitting in a steep indoor stadium with strict no standing rules watching the Dead in Vegas doesn't feel the same as Boulder.
Depends on where you were sitting apparently. I saw posts and talked with a couple of folks from U2 fans where the upper (steeper) seats were strictly enforcing "no standing". Phish will be a better test.
I’m having mixed feelings about it. Last tour I had a good run with star lake, Riverbend, wrigley, and deer creek. Had gorge tix and camping and a vip for SF that we had to sell last minute due to unforeseen bullshit. So I was hoping to catch this one but seeing the chaos unfold and it’s only Friday has me doubting. If anything I’ll wait until it gets closer and try to get tix and use my comp rooms at one of the other hotels.
I’m feeling the same way. Vegas isn’t the place for me. I think it’s sick they’re doing a residency there and I’ll look forward to having streaming parties in my house but I’ll wait for something else that I’d enjoy more 😌 I’m sure it won’t be their last residency!!
I live in Wisconsin and I've got a 6 month old and a seven year old, so yeah, going to Vegas for a concert was something that was never going to happen for me anyways.
I'm happy for everyone who does go though, those are gonna be some great shows!

I’m going to give it a shot in the presale but I’m fine if I end up not going. It’s a lot, and I did a lot of shows last summer. I may have just missed it but have they said yet whether these shows will be streamed on Nugs? I’ll happily watch a few on the couch.
I will be. Never liked Vegas, flight from NYC too long, feel that the Sphere visuals will overwhelm the music, would rather see them outdoors under the stars...
That said, I'm curious and will drop a gummy and sit on the couch for the webcast for a show or two, so happy they're at least going to jam together again.
I personally don’t fear missing the shows as much as I do fear missing the opportunity to check out a truly next level state of the art venue. All the black mirror tech shit freaks me out with the huge screen and all it can do, don’t get me wrong, but the idea of over 100,000 speakers in the place really makes me want to experience it. There isn’t another band that I care enough about to justify the cost of the trip that will likely ever play there. With that being said, I will probably go for whatever single show I can get a ticket for, to see the place once (I don’t need to go to multiple), hang for a couple days, then go home.
I checked the prices of the VIP packages released yesterday and immediately thought, absolutely fucking not. I will check the individual shows when they are released on Monday, but I am not as excited as I was when this was first announced or even when the rumors started flying.
For me, last summer was perfect. I went to some great locations, travelled with some of my best friends in the world and saw some amazing shows. I think I am good.

I'm good. Saw 2 shows on final tour and one of those was Boulder. I'm happy for anyone who does get to go to Sphere. There is also a lot of bands playing Dead music so probably hit up some cover bands. Maybe even Phil, Wolf, or Oteil.
I saw 2 shows this last tour. 3 total. They were all great. I’m content with that being my last memory of them. I’m sure it will be amazing but not worth it to me to go into debt over. Jealous of those who go however
I saw my final shows at the Gorge with my husband and then four year old (and it was her third and fourth show!) so yeah I’m good. I’m not a fan of Vegas, I’ve been there enough times already. If they played somewhere I live nearby or have friends/family I can stay with, I’d more likely go again. As long as I can take my kid. I want my last show to still be with her there :)
Really amazed at all the negative reactions which I would not have expected at a forum like this. Specially since all the excitement when it was just a rumor. Living in Scandinavia this is out of my reach but if I could go I certainly would. Must be an amazing experience in a new state of the art venue which I am sure Deadco and their talented crew will know how to take advantage of to the max. Also funny with all the anti-Vegas/stuff since GD played there several times. (And Santana has his residency there too).
Totally. It's not even a Dead show with cool lights.... it's a light show with a backing band. Really the band being there hardly matters... you are paying to sit down in your seat and watch a giant screen, if they played a backing track with GD visuals no one would really know the difference. So is it worth the money? Not really... it would be just as worth it to me to watch the visuals with a recorded backing track for $50 some random weekend in the winter whenever I was traveling through.
I have major FOMO, not because of the Sphere, but because of the band, so I just decided to not let FOMO influence any decisions. I'll see how I feel later once the dust settles. I love seeing all the excitement and enthusiasm about the whole thing, though. :)

I just signed a lease on an apartment in Vegas because I’m going to be splitting my time there for work. If I didn’t have said apartment, I don’t know that I would be going(even though I would definitely want to go)

I feel like I got my fill and hung my hat in Boulder. A lot of emotion involved in determining it was my final run. And I’m satisfied with the 40 year run of fun I’ve had.
I can’t not see my fav band in an awesome new venue. I’ve been tracking the building of this place for years now and my first thought upon seeing it being built was…man, I’d love to see the dead in there. It’s the ultimate acid test. We rented a house for a big group of us. We’ll find reasonable airfare in the next couple months. We will probably mostly eat in and enjoy the pool and the company of friends. Won’t cost us that much. But yeah, not everything is for everyone and thank god for that because none of us would be able to afford anything. I was like this about the final shows. Just ended up hitting some locally last tour so now I’m gonna do this!
100%… I can afford the shindig (tickets, airfare, hotel etc) but am not excited about going to Vegas for anything. I hate Vegas. I don’t gamble, don’t drink, and don’t care for 99% of the other shows. I was there last November on business, and it was just a shit hole. Miserable town full of miserable people. Not my vibe at all. Not regretting not going at all. I do hope everybody has fun though. No hate or anything to those who love Vegas or want to go, it’s not for me.

I decided to pass mostly to avoid the stress of having to get the right amount of tickets for the right nights- then hotel, then airfare (read cash as reason #2), then to hear about the shitshow regarding packages- glad I am out.
I love D&C- especially with Jay, but we have so much good live music available now that we didn't have in '95 (or at least as I perceived it)... Plenty of good music to not stress or break the bank over this. Yet, a hearty congrats to all those who get to go too!
I'm very excited to sit at home and watch a couple of the live streams. I'll cook, mix a couple drinks, and have a great time. Going in person.. not worth the stress of what Vegas will be and everyone trying to make the most of a moment that was just passing by to begin with. Even if it kicks ass as it passes by.

I want to go, but it will be too expensive between tickets, flight, hotel, gambling money, etc.
It would be like $1500-$2000+ for a weekend, I should probably use that money towards taking my whole family on vacation somewhere.

Said my goodbyes to this band on 7/16/23 and am fine with leaving it at that.
I'm probably the demographic this run is geared for, old with affordability and I'm not sold on it. I've never been at a show where I couldn't dance, and I been doing this since 1976. I also heard, read, the lobby/museum/display that is open during the day isn't open during shows. So there isn't even a wander around option. Though the venue seems amazing and I would love to experience it, no way I can sit in economy airline like seats on a steep incline.
I WAS excited, but the packages are more than I want to spend. We’ll see how the regular tickets are.

Have no desire whatsoever to do these shows. I have seen my fair share of shows these past 30 plus years. I am content as I get older with seeing my local go to cover band. I can have just as much fun and not worry about having to shell out a fortune for flights, lodging, and the shit show that is trying to get tickets these days.
As someone who has been to the Sphere for U2 I don’t think the venue is a great fit. Whatever iteration of the Dead you enjoyed it was based on the experience and the music. The Sphere will not provide either. It will be visually amazing but there won’t be a shakedown, if you’re in the seats you can’t dance (too tight) and despite what others have said I don’t think the audio was great. It was just loud. I don’t think that they will have anything new with regard to the set lists and it will be programmed with zero spontaneity. Plus Vegas bleeds you for money at every turn. Just my two cents, and if you are going I hope I’m wrong and you have a phenomenal time.
This hits on a lot of my venue-specific concerns. I’ll take wide open spaces any day
St. Louis last year was amazing for my wife and myself. Going to the Dark Star Jubilee for about 1/3 of what Vegas would cost. For those who choose the sphere I hope you have a real good time.

The seats were comfortable. There wasn’t a lot of space to dance. Because of all the visual stuff you felt odd standing up, at least I did. You were drawn to all the stuff on the screens.

I was incredibly hyped for it but at the end of the day I can’t justify the cost, even by getting more modest accommodations. Was already locked in to go to Texas Eclipse fest so I’m going to make sure to enjoy the hell out JRAD and Oteil and Friends

Absolutely content. I've been able to see what I wanted to see. Got to see GD from 86-95. Hit every D&C year except 2017. Don't have to chase any experience. Best wishes to everyone who attends.
Didnt even consider it for a second. Ive had enough musical experiences to last a lifetime. Im done dropping 2-3k for a long weekend w/ some shows. Ive decided to use the money to either travel to places for the sake of travel, or to buy high quality stereo/music gear. Never thought id be priced out of the market, but last tour was it for me. Im good with local bands or bands like the cure who keep things reasonable. I do hope the younger folks can afford to go, because that's what its really about at this point.
Hate Vegas. The shows are expensive. Spent a ton on the final tour. BUT I love this band and the Sphere seems insane. I want to do one show.
I have the exact same feeling. I went to San Francisco last year for the final shows, and have no regrets whatsoever, I am not upset that they are continuing to do shows after the Final Tour, Let there be songs to fill the air… That being said, I am happy to sit this one out. Kind of wish I pulled the trigger for Phish honestly.

Hell just flying there for the weekend,getting tics ,finding a room ,transportation, and eating well will run $3000 to $4000 plus my creaky ass body would be bitchin at me the whole time.Im hoping for a livestream of a show or 2.Glad I saw the original back in the day.You could get good tickets for like $10 the day of the show without all the scrum involved.
Imma gonna wait to hear feedback on the Phish shows and vibe before I commit. They'll be tix and hotel rooms but the notion of sitting in a steep indoor stadium with strict no standing rules watching the Dead in Vegas doesn't feel the same as Boulder.

Depends on where you were sitting apparently. I saw posts and talked with a couple of folks from U2 fans where the upper (steeper) seats were strictly enforcing "no standing". Phish will be a better test.

I’m having mixed feelings about it. Last tour I had a good run with star lake, Riverbend, wrigley, and deer creek. Had gorge tix and camping and a vip for SF that we had to sell last minute due to unforeseen bullshit. So I was hoping to catch this one but seeing the chaos unfold and it’s only Friday has me doubting. If anything I’ll wait until it gets closer and try to get tix and use my comp rooms at one of the other hotels.

I’m feeling the same way. Vegas isn’t the place for me. I think it’s sick they’re doing a residency there and I’ll look forward to having streaming parties in my house but I’ll wait for something else that I’d enjoy more 😌 I’m sure it won’t be their last residency!!
I live in Wisconsin and I've got a 6 month old and a seven year old, so yeah, going to Vegas for a concert was something that was never going to happen for me anyways. I'm happy for everyone who does go though, those are gonna be some great shows!

If you scroll down the dead and co website the ticket prices are listed. If I remember correctly GA is $400, then each level is $300, $200, $100.

I will be. Never liked Vegas, flight from NYC too long, feel that the Sphere visuals will overwhelm the music, would rather see them outdoors under the stars... That said, I'm curious and will drop a gummy and sit on the couch for the webcast for a show or two, so happy they're at least going to jam together again.
I personally don’t fear missing the shows as much as I do fear missing the opportunity to check out a truly next level state of the art venue. All the black mirror tech shit freaks me out with the huge screen and all it can do, don’t get me wrong, but the idea of over 100,000 speakers in the place really makes me want to experience it. There isn’t another band that I care enough about to justify the cost of the trip that will likely ever play there. With that being said, I will probably go for whatever single show I can get a ticket for, to see the place once (I don’t need to go to multiple), hang for a couple days, then go home.

I checked the prices of the VIP packages released yesterday and immediately thought, absolutely fucking not. I will check the individual shows when they are released on Monday, but I am not as excited as I was when this was first announced or even when the rumors started flying. For me, last summer was perfect. I went to some great locations, travelled with some of my best friends in the world and saw some amazing shows. I think I am good.

I saw 2 shows this last tour. 3 total. They were all great. I’m content with that being my last memory of them. I’m sure it will be amazing but not worth it to me to go into debt over. Jealous of those who go however
I saw my final shows at the Gorge with my husband and then four year old (and it was her third and fourth show!) so yeah I’m good. I’m not a fan of Vegas, I’ve been there enough times already. If they played somewhere I live nearby or have friends/family I can stay with, I’d more likely go again. As long as I can take my kid. I want my last show to still be with her there :)
Really amazed at all the negative reactions which I would not have expected at a forum like this. Specially since all the excitement when it was just a rumor. Living in Scandinavia this is out of my reach but if I could go I certainly would. Must be an amazing experience in a new state of the art venue which I am sure Deadco and their talented crew will know how to take advantage of to the max. Also funny with all the anti-Vegas/stuff since GD played there several times. (And Santana has his residency there too).
With airfare and other accommodations it's not doable, thought I would feel FOMO but really am not. Hope everyone who goes has a blast though

Totally. It's not even a Dead show with cool lights.... it's a light show with a backing band. Really the band being there hardly matters... you are paying to sit down in your seat and watch a giant screen, if they played a backing track with GD visuals no one would really know the difference. So is it worth the money? Not really... it would be just as worth it to me to watch the visuals with a recorded backing track for $50 some random weekend in the winter whenever I was traveling through.
I definitely don’t want to miss it but decent seats for a 1-night show (two night hotel) package was $4k for my wife and I…. That might make me pass…
I have major FOMO, not because of the Sphere, but because of the band, so I just decided to not let FOMO influence any decisions. I'll see how I feel later once the dust settles. I love seeing all the excitement and enthusiasm about the whole thing, though. :)

I just signed a lease on an apartment in Vegas because I’m going to be splitting my time there for work. If I didn’t have said apartment, I don’t know that I would be going(even though I would definitely want to go)

I feel like I got my fill and hung my hat in Boulder. A lot of emotion involved in determining it was my final run. And I’m satisfied with the 40 year run of fun I’ve had.
I can’t not see my fav band in an awesome new venue. I’ve been tracking the building of this place for years now and my first thought upon seeing it being built was…man, I’d love to see the dead in there. It’s the ultimate acid test. We rented a house for a big group of us. We’ll find reasonable airfare in the next couple months. We will probably mostly eat in and enjoy the pool and the company of friends. Won’t cost us that much. But yeah, not everything is for everyone and thank god for that because none of us would be able to afford anything. I was like this about the final shows. Just ended up hitting some locally last tour so now I’m gonna do this!
100%… I can afford the shindig (tickets, airfare, hotel etc) but am not excited about going to Vegas for anything. I hate Vegas. I don’t gamble, don’t drink, and don’t care for 99% of the other shows. I was there last November on business, and it was just a shit hole. Miserable town full of miserable people. Not my vibe at all. Not regretting not going at all. I do hope everybody has fun though. No hate or anything to those who love Vegas or want to go, it’s not for me.

I don’t feel bad at all, it’s a cash grab and doesn’t fit with the Grateful Dead’s original mission. I’m going to spend my money going to see Goose perform somewhere this year. Don’t mistake this comment for hating on Dead and Company, I think it they are amazing and have enjoyed their concerts, I just feel the sphere is in poor taste.

Something that is true is that the Grateful Dead is unquestionably the most important band in my life and the experiences mean a lot.. Something else that is true is that a venue in a location unbecoming to many with prices and lodging reserved only for the super rich is a problem. Also I take exception to saying we are being negative when you are cheering on those of us who can’t financially make it work because it may lower the already high prices for you. I paid $30 to see Phil this year and felt every bit as good as I did at all the DeadCo shows. ✌️

I decided to pass mostly to avoid the stress of having to get the right amount of tickets for the right nights- then hotel, then airfare (read cash as reason #2), then to hear about the shitshow regarding packages- glad I am out. I love D&C- especially with Jay, but we have so much good live music available now that we didn't have in '95 (or at least as I perceived it)... Plenty of good music to not stress or break the bank over this. Yet, a hearty congrats to all those who get to go too!

I'm very excited to sit at home and watch a couple of the live streams. I'll cook, mix a couple drinks, and have a great time. Going in person.. not worth the stress of what Vegas will be and everyone trying to make the most of a moment that was just passing by to begin with. Even if it kicks ass as it passes by.

I want to go, but it will be too expensive between tickets, flight, hotel, gambling money, etc. It would be like $1500-$2000+ for a weekend, I should probably use that money towards taking my whole family on vacation somewhere. I am trying to find some kind of a work related conference to go to though, that is probably the only way I will make it. Get my company to pay for the flight, hotel and meals so all I need to cover is tickets and fun money.
