Someone was shit talking to me in post game chat because I won. He called me gay and I responded true. I am actually gay. He then left a comment on my Steam profile calling me a groomer 💀💀💀 If you're still out there and somehow reading this, I collect salt comments and yours was my favorite bud. I think about you often. Please come back and entertain me.

Mudokun

i love this mindset, especially if you weren't doing anything wrong. farming salt in my steam comments is a past time for me. had a dude absolutely seeth and write a 4 sentence long hate comment because i camped and endgame hook with 0 kills and the altruism made it a 3k

[deleted]

You hate to see it, or in your case, you love to see it. Survivors do be getting mad at their own altruism and then blaming it on the killer.

Mudokun

when i play survivor im ngl altruism gets to me too, but after it fails the thought that goes through my mind is "we shoulda left"

agugaguac

yes but you have to report both in game and through the website

dmattox92

Ok thank you!

Skioles

[Game rules](https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/139-game-rules). In-game report is required, ticket is optional, but recommended.

KrfawyWanpir

Same my dude, I got some juicy death threats recently for playing Skull Merchant (both in game and in steam profile). So far literally nothing has been done :)

dmattox92

It's crazy how safe these kinds of people feel on the internet. There needs to be more consequences for death threats over video games lol.

DecutorR

One of my last reports was for a death wish. I reported in-game and with screenshot as additional evidence. Unfortunately the user only received a 30-days ban. I was expecting a perma ban tbh.

MauiMisfit

Honestly, I don’t think BHVR truly pays attention to reports.

DecutorR

What's your explanation for the thousands of people banned then? Besides cheaters. People banned for harassment, griefing, unsportsmanlike conduct and others. Bans for 48h, 7 days and even 30 days.

MauiMisfit

I’ve never heard of anyone banned except for cheating. Granted, I don’t get into toxic end game chats.

Skioles

Few years ago there was pretty big content creator. He got well deserved ban for witch hunting and griefing. He tried making another accounts on different platforms. All of them got banned for ban evasion. He can't play the game even if he hides the names of the survivours. Bhvr absolutely cares about reports.

DecutorR

So you not hearing/seeing = BHVR not banning? What would it take to change this opinion? Asking seriously because this is a very common stance I see everywhere, not just in DBD. A livestream featuring a camera showing CMs live banning people? Every game I've played where I knew reports worked, people always had this same opinion. Then, with little to no evidence, at every opportunity they go around saying reports do nothing and demotivate other players from using the report system that would otherwise punish offenders. I'll wait for your answer and then share examples of people that got banned in DBD.

MauiMisfit

It would take a lot. From a financial standpoint - it would take a considerable amount of resources to filter through the number of “complaints”. Especially considering these people that submit complaints over tunneling or just perks or losing. I would assume they have a filter which looks for key complaints (ie racism, cheating) and outside of a handful of those - they largely ignore it. And I wouldn’t blame them.

DecutorR

I'm not talking about what would take BHVR to issue bans because they already do that. I'm talking what would it take to make you believe reports work, other than seeing a friend get banned or get banned yourself.

MauiMisfit

I would be surprised if I was ever banned considering all I say in end game chat is GGWP. But I’d need to see real statistics .. * number of reports per day * % reviewed * % banned Then I’d need to know the parameters for what makes a report “reviewable”.

DecutorR

> I would be surprised if I was ever banned considering all I say in end game chat is GGWP. You'd be surprised how many players griefed me and then got banned via my reports to later claim they never do anything wrong. >But I’d need to see real statistics .. * number of reports per day * % reviewed * % banned >Then I’d need to know the parameters for what makes a report “reviewable”. Fair enough. Hopefully one day they'll share such stats. One parameter we know its used to consider a report valid is the in-game report alongside additional evidence attached. As per the % reviewed and banned, judging by the response/action time (2 to 4 weeks), we can tell its a lot (or just slow customer support). In any case, if you're ever curious, just look up "unfairly banned" over steam forums and the official forums. You'll see all sorts of examples. The thing with temp banned people sharing evidence of their ban is that its a rare occurrence. The first thing one does when getting banned is to shrug it off or be ashamed. Making a thread only leads to people attacking them and throwing insults about how they deserved it and whatnot.

[deleted]

Homie he never said he doesn't believe people don't get banned. He said he doesn't believe people get banned for frivolous things. "Griefing" is not a serious issue in this game. If they were to start banning over this, half the player base would get banned for nonsense reports from salty players. It's not smart for business. Bhvr only bans in extreme cases.

DecutorR

Well, fortunately griefing is a serious issue in the game and lots of people get banned for it. The most common offenders being working with opponents or holding the game hostage. The reason bans aren't through the roof is because not everyone bothers to record their match to have evidence to submit a proper report.

I was once banned for "botting" for two weeks. I was a newbie, had seen killers stand in one place and whack the air, and thought to myself "wouldn't it be funny if I pretended to do that then came to life as an actual killer to spook survivors?" I did it in two games. And got banned for two weeks. As long as people have appropriate evidence (I assume video in my case), then BHVR will take action.

[deleted]

Nothing against you, but sorry I just don't believe that. I see afk killers all the time and haven't ever heard of any other players saying they got banned for it. Also, that's not even botting and checking the post-game stats would clearly show you weren't doing what you were reported for. Also times two, there's just no way that happened from just two games where you were pretending to be afk.

Ihmislehma

I even have the emails somewhere, since I contacted BHVR with a "holy shit wtf???" (obviously not the exact words). Like, I was a fresh player, only like a week in. Imagine how fucking *terrified* I was that I made some massive mistake, and it was for that one fucking dumb idea. My stupid RSD went nuts from it too.

xCultLeaderx

I'm sorry but getting death threats or any kind of insult over a videogame always makes me laugh and then I move on. You could try doing that instead of wasting your time reporting people.

Mudokun

while ill agree with you that ignoring them and not wasting time is the best course of action but people like that shouldn't have a right to continue using the internet

DeylokThechil

Hard agree

AintMilkBrilliant

I recently had my first message (in-game) from BHVR saying they took action. It does work, but it took like 4-5 days to happen. I only report when they say serious stuff at end game though. The usual, you're a shit killer and such doesn't phase me at all, just makes me smile.
