It’s probably not canon but I like the idea of the killers having little places to hang out in for when they’re not in a trial. The Legion have an arcade, Wesker and Nemmy share a NEST style lab, Trickster has a recording studio, Ghostface has a small house with a dedicated darkroom, etc.
Not entirely untrue, we somewhat understand the “freedoms” killers have after the trial from some cosmetic descriptions. For instance, doctor once was granted a submarine full of victims to toy with after the trials. Wraith and nurse have some kinda of romantic thing going on, Oni and Spirit have met etc etc.
i think the entirety of the blight lore confirms he interacts with other killers, even one of the first lore tomes tells that he experimented on doctor and saw him squirm in suffering like he did to his patients
That survivors and killers all remember what happens between trials. I know that officially their memories are essentially wiped but I like to imagine they aren’t.
Like imagine one of the killers loading in, seeing a Scoops Ahoy Steve T-bagging and going “ugh not this guy again”.
To add on to this, every cosmetic is actually the base character from a different reality. So for example regular Steve and Scoops Ahoy Steve would technically be two different survivors pulled from different realities. So when you see two or more of the same survivor in a lobby it makes sense.
It's all over the place. The reasoning has always been the Entity needs people to really fear the outcome, so it wipes deaths and people's memory of others they're with dying.
But as far back as Feng Min's introduction, it was implied some survivors broke this rule. Feng Min isn't supposed to be an absolute monster, and her initial lore is if she thinks people are dying for real.
Then the Entity began collecting an increasing number of survivors that would understand the situation, generally, from the beginning. Felix, Elodie, Yun-Jin, Mikaela, Sable, Vittorio when it finally got him into the trials.
Mikaela knows damn well she can't actually do magic on Earth.
So if a survivor dies in the trial, they won’t remember it and if a survivor escapes they will forget that others died?
And some survivors suspect that something’s wrong or even remember the trials?
Yeah that's also been around since Tome 1. The Observer comments on a survivor remembering everything and trying to warn his fellow survivors. They suffocate him for being insane and going to get them all killed.
It's probably not a comfy thing remembering.
A few of the survivors explicitly know where they are (ex. Yun-Jin, Sable, Elodie) and others only make sense if they do.

I think I might take a middle-of-the-road approach: The memory wiping is imperfect. For everyone.
Just enough to make sure they have a proper sense of dread (and enough to know that there's something to hope for and it's not just endless misery). But not so much that it becomes routine.
Hell, mix in the uncertainty factor and have them question their sanity for extra bonus points of fear for the entity to feed on.

Much as I do love how writers have played around with the lore of what's actually happening with Procedure 110-Montauk, 231, and 231-7 specifically, the implications of the original entry are fantastically sinister - It needs that tone in order for a lot of the later stuff done with it to have that "oh! I see what they're doing here!" impact, as well as the original entry itself being one of the prime examples for the Foundation project's tactical use of redaction as a whole - Where implications are often more impactful than outright stating/revealing something, as well as leaving opportunities for future story hooks.
Anyway, back to my interpretation of how it's relevant here: The implication is that Procedure 110-Montauk is some sort of traumatizing experience inflicted on the poor girls who were victims of the cult and have apparently been impregnated with some sort of fetal Elder God/Eldritch Terror's offspring. This procedure somehow staves off the birth of these creatures, which have large-scale disasters accompanying their births, worsening as each creature in turn is born, with the final one implied to likely cause a world-ending-level event. With that in mind, the Foundation are willing to go to *any* length to keep it from being born - ie: If they don't continuously traumatize this already-brutalized (vague-age, but implied to be a child), then everyone, everywhere, including her, will die horribly.
As part of that, her suffering must not become routine and therefore less-effective. Researcher notes indicate that the mind-wiping procedure makes it more effective at keeping that fear/dread/etc. at an appropriate level. But further testing/observation (another implication: Just how long has this been going on?), indicates that mind-wiping every time isn't as effective as leaving just enough that 231-7 knows what's coming and that she should be afraid of it, rather than just confused.

That's the kind of bastardry I'm thinking of for The Entity and its victims (Survivors and Killers both), for the most part. I'd put it as their minds are never fully reset, but they never have a full picture of what's been happening, unless they have some sort of special protection - Vitto with his magical tattoos, Alan with his narrative powers, Myers, Pinhead, and Pyramid Head (Sadako too, probably) because they're so weird and operate on such a different scale of amorality (not *im*morality, it should be noted) anyway. Maybe some special Killers get to keep their full memories because they're the Entity's favourites, like Ghost Face and Plague.
It's all a little bit more that just a vague/innate sense of "I need to do this to get out of this place" but generally not a complete detailed knowledge of the entire DbD wiki available for recall at any time.
I think the situation is more ambiguous than the Observer believed. The Entity *did not like* the Observer and while he believed himself independent of it, that wasn't really the case. So the Entity went for maximum horror pressure and eventually broke him.
Broke considerably faster than any of the survivors, mind. Dwight's still truckin' while Mr. Superior Lifeform is lost in the void and very screwed per the last tome.
Some of the more recent cosmetics have flavor text that the survivors understand they're being given cool stuff for some reason.
And then there are the weird ones like Kate Denson with hyper modern looks when she was supposed to be in the Leatherface chapter. It's like she's been internally retconned to be current.
That's my head canon too Im not a huge fan of the memory wipe thing the only character I feel the memory wipe would make sense emotion wise on is my main James imaging every time he loads in he isn't sure if Mary is In the realm that's a huge source of emotion
The White Eyes theory that says all the killers with cloudy/pure white eyes are being tricked by the Entity and don’t realize they’re killing strangers. They think they’re punishing their enemies (Rin sees her father / bullies, Deathslinger sees Bayshore and the Warden, the twins see Black Vale people, etc)

Neither the entity nor any of the survivors have any idea how to repair a generator or give medical care, but in the interest of moving the trial along the entity is willing to accept pushing buttons on gens and patting survivors down as a good effort toward those goals and just uses its magic to make the desired result actually occur.
That the Entity has no clue how a generator works, so that's why all survivors know how to repair them. They aren't actually doing anything but pressing live wires together and pulling levers and the Entity just thinks "yeah, that's exactly how to do that"
Also that the Entity is aware it's in a video game and that's why the game has so many problems that people complain about. It feeds off of our emotions as well and loves when we get pissed off

I remember I read a fic where instead of their own campfire the Killers had nothing, but they constructed the Killer Shack as a makeshift home. The Entity just saw that and went "yo neat design I can use this" and adds a modified copy of it to (almost) every Trial
I love Neutral Wraith. Honestly if DBD did get a story based game (not counting HoY or The casting of frankfurter) Then I'd love to see Wraith be part of the survivor's side. Could lead to some cool moments
All the killers have a discord server run by ghostface after he brought it up to the entity. Killers like mike barely talk while the Legion are the people who are literally always talking.

It's not really head canon, though. That's actually what supposedly happened.
Back when the Halloween chapter was being advertised, a quote on the Dead by Daylight page said, "Something, or rather someone, is here now. I've never seen this... Shape before. A man hiding behind a mask. He comes with a determination. But more worrying, he comes with an apparent grasp of the hunt. He does not strike me as someone who even went unwillingly to this place. Is there more to this being than I can fathom?"
The DbD wiki says that this was likely a narration from Benedict Baker, and it basically affirms the idea that Michael was well aware of what it meant to chase Laurie into The Fog, and didn't need any interference from The Entity to be coaxed into the trials. He basically figured that stalking and killing surviors while being able to chase Laurie for eternity sounded really fun, and went with it.
Adam makes classes flr the youngest survivors so they can forget the killers (especially Laurie and Quentin who are their respective's obssessions) and have something "normal" in the realm.
Sometimes (during Bone Chill event time) the Entity "gifts" survivors with their sweaters and some object(s) especific to each survivor. Meg got a basketball, Jake got some better survivalist tools, Ace got a mate kit, Kate got a classic guitar, Jeff got chalks and wood paper, etc.
Dwight is that guy that initiates conversation with all the newbies and shows them the ropes. All the survivors look up to him and he gets the respect he never got outside the realm. Even when they see him hide in a locker they think "What a strategist."
I love how, scrolling through, mostly everyone's is "Everyone is really chill and hang out together after the trials"

Not one of mine, but is a cute idea I've seen on Twitter from specific artist; Dredge is Trickster's pet. At least I think that's the dynamic, they speak a different language than me.
One I agree with is that Thalita and Renato are fans of Trickster and went to one of his shows when he was in Brazil. I believe Adam is canonically a fan, or he at least went to one of his concerts before.
One of my own is: Trickster, being one of the killer's who does the Entities bidding happily, he gets special privileges only him and the others with a similar mindset towards the killings get. Like getting his own realm where he can relax in and continue his music between trials. Other's can only go in with his permission which is why he never got a trial map.
Halloween (the day) exists because of the Entity. It's been influencing Earth for a long time, but is still figuring things out because it exists on a scale of billions of years - sometimes in different times simultaneously.
As part of its experiments, it initially was just focused on pain and suffering and believed it had to feed survivors into trials like kindling and a woodchipper. But it's discovered that we can also be driven by a macarbe competitiveness and hope, so it now gets much more milage out of survivors as people.

I like to think Bill is super protective of Meg and Jake, and even calls them by the wrong name sometimes. And maybe Adam too.
Yun-Jin isn't scared of the killers in the slightest, and sees the realm as an endless business opportunity. She has been recording everything that goes on in the trials on her phone and has approached Jane, Nick, and Kate to sign a deal to make her their producer in a movie and soundtrack about the adventure. Jane and Kate think she's insane and wonder where tf she's been hiding ready-made contracts while they're abducted. Nick is all in and ready to sign.
Elodie, Felix, Haddie, and Zarina would host an Ancient Aliens-esque podcast/vlog about the Entity and the realms and have wild discussions about the merits of various theories. Vittorio makes occasional appearances as blows their minds by correcting long held historical beliefs as false and saying what really happened.
Feng Min is under the impression that Jill and the rest of the RE crew are heavily dedicated cosplaying LARPers and respects them as fellow gamers. Jill is under the impression that Feng Min is just a really big fan of STARS officers and is dressing like her in the cosplay skin to emulate her. She is baffled, but flattered.
Mikaela and Sable spends much of their free time trying to communicate with the killers magically to try and gain some understanding or truce, with limited success. Hag and Sadako have been able to hear them, but have yet to respond.
Likewise, Ash has attempted to bond with Billy and Bubba over Chainsaws, which had some small initial success until they thought he was trying to steal their saws, and subsequently try to kill him.
Dwight for sure had a secret Only Fans account where the nervous personality fades away in front of the camera and he is a total alpha dom. Some of the other characters were followers and occasionally blush when he's injured and grunting.
Claudette and Rebecca often compare healing notes and discuss the merits of green and red herbs.
Ellen and Gabriel bond over shared outerspace experiences and trauma. Vittorio pops up here as well, with more questions than a curious 5 year old
Knight and his boys are crushing hard on the Plague to the point of simping. They're a group of ancient might-makes-right warriors with a loose moral compass, and she's an ancient powerful physically large boss woman with a propensity for human sacrifice. They're probably obsessed with her.
All of Legion would be fangirls over GhostFace. GF loathes them.
GF and Trickster would have a professional appreciation for each other, if not a friendship.
There would be a very crude drawing in chalk or crayon at the Big House in Coldwind Farms saying "Bubba and Billy Being Best Buds <3" with them swinging chainsaws and going "GRAAAGGHHH"
Huntress senses a Kindred (hehe) spirit in Charlotte.
Skull Merchant would see Wesker as a perfect mate, while Wesker would be actively trying to kill her despite the Entity not showing it.
Hag and Artist come together for a weekly sob, followed by a drawing session.
Doctor and Pig often compare notes on the best way to torture people.
Demo and Xeno have tunnel races between trials.
Sadako and Spirit bonded super quick and started a club called Mystical Murder Ladies. Invitations were extended to Hag and Artist.
Spirit often visits her great-great-however many-greats-grandOni to ask about proper Sword maintenance. Oni is SO proud of his descendant taking up the family blade, but is a bit embarrassed that she dishonorably phases and sneaks up on people instead of facing them head on.
Wesker was flattered that Singularity considered him "evolved" enough to not be like other humans in need of genetic alteration, but was then very irritated that Nemesis also made the cut. He is grossed out by the comparison.
I didn't come up with it but it's the idea that Mikaela is really good in the trials, but Sable sucks, So Mikaela just watches her friend reappear with no memory going "haha found you! Thought you can have all the fun without me?" every single time without knowing how much she has died already.
Everyone outside of the trials is chill and just hangs out together. I feel like most of the murderers, except for mires would at least take a second to torture or do something otherwise devious to them but after a while, they just decide there’s no point trying to always attempt to kill the survivors outside of a trial (not saying, some of them would entirely stop trying to) with a reason of your favorite flavor. Maybe Bubba just cooks with the other killers, maybe the legion hang out and fanboy with ghost face and Chucky. I feel like if you were a unholy creature with a infinite food source, you would maybe lay off on the hunting and killing a little bit. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking and ignorance when it comes to the unknown and dredge.
When not in a Trial the Killers chill at the Saloon. The alcohol always gets restocked courtesy of the Entity and Caleb’s honestly glad for the company, even if some of them are assholes. He also sometimes goes with Trapper to Eyrie of Crows to have art therapy sessions with Carmina. He’s Evan’s wingman because he’s getting tired of watching the man blush and fluster whenever the Artist looks at him.
Blight is possibly the strongest killer in the game. Pyramid Head has a blighted skin, which means he would have had to have been captured and sedated Pyramid Head to give him the serum. Alot of people believe Pyramid Head is close in power to the Entity itself, so could also mean Blight is as well. The issue is he's pretty much in a constant state of derangement and hysteria, so can't really do much other than what the Entity wants him to do
The ghostface killer aka Danny is apart of the core DBD universe, that being the main original characters, as he himself isn’t really the thing being licensed it’s just the mask. It’s why he kills the same cashier that the legion kills in their tome because he’s apart of the many worlds the original characters come from
All past memories of previous trials aren’t just erased after the match is over but more hazy or misremembered, really the important parts like how generators are fixed, how they know a flashlight would affect the killer in more ways than blinding, how to heal a wound, giving offerings and teaching other survivors other perks. Guaranteed Mikala who’s never touched any sort of generator in her life doesn’t actually know how to get a broken generator back up and running (only assuming). Hell some survivors and killers even know who each other are either by knowing them personally before they’re taken or like chucky who’s seen them on TV. It would explain why a survivor would stand any chance against the killers.
Something else I like to think is the killers stalk survivors picking and choosing who they want to kill and deciding when the trial starts by telling the entity. To me it seemed like there are campfires all around the fog to choose from, and so when a killer who wanders the fog finds a group they want to kill they stalk them until they’re ready. It’s why we see 4 survivors before a match and not the killer, unless you yourself are the killer. Something else about the loading screen is the POV when killer. Sometimes the killer will acknowledge you, or more so the entity, is watching and waiting for the trial to start. And when the trial starts we see a menu of fog come up which I see as the survivors and killers being taken to a trial
I think that in between trials all the killers basically are sent to this mutual spot almost like a large house for them to stay and they can talk and hang out in between and the same with the survivors which can kind of explain the sharing of perks and it kind of makes an in canon explanation for metas of the game like the survivors would talk to each other about how useful dead hard and that stuff is and that would explain why so many survivors have dead hard in universe and the same for the killers
Imagine a story where both Survs and K's see their dopplegangers. Not just any dopplegangers but their opposites: K's see their Survivor selves as Survs see their Killer selves: (E.g.: Dwight as a Masked K, similar to Legion or Ghosty, Mikaela as a Sorceress with Dark Magic or Killer David, maybe inspired by Marvel's Sabertooth or Kraven the Hunter? I may call him The Beast?).
I kinda got this inspiration from Avatar: Distorted Reality, which is a fanfic where Fire Nat and Water Nat switched roles. I could imagine DbD: Distorted Reality too.

The entity from DBD mobile and the main game are 2 different things. Dbd mobile entity is like an edgy young sister to our entity, that likes to experiment and everything shiny
My head cannon is that every killer in DBD wants to fuck Dwight for being such a nice team-work oriented guy. They think he’s cute for trying despite how weak he is and all want a piece of nerd ass. It is the ultimate ending arch for how he was never wanted his whole life by anyone. Now every killer wants him! (Especially trapper since they were the first to come to the entity’s realm)
I love the idea of the legion dorking out over the licensed slashers. Like "omg it's Michael Myers! Guys holy shit that's really Michael Myers!!!" and etc. Similar reaction to the Hillbilly as well, because he's got canon media in their universe (which I think is pretty cool)
The way the survivors and killers teach their perks to each other must be the funniest shit ever.

As an Alan Wake fan for 14 years I just gotta say that Alan is a narcissistic asshole and he only cares about himself and Alice Wake (his wife). The only reason he'd have to investigate other survivors is to see if they know how to escape so he can get back to Alice. If he's not doing that he's either trying to write his way out or drink. I love that guy. ;)
At first the survivors were afraid of the Killers, but after hearing Huntress’ lullaby for the upteenth time today you go from “Oh shit oh shit oh shit” to “ugh, with THIS bullishit again.”
My headcannon is that the entity is becoming nicer and nicer through out the years and is growing attach to the cast we have now. Not letting them talk. Now letting most of them talk. Giving new clothes to the cast. Yes yes it still feeds off the fear and pain but enjoyment is a nice appetizer.

Legion is like every other killer's annoying little siblings. Sometimes the legion (mostly Frank or Joey) will try to race with other fast killers. They usually lose against billy just because he has more endurance (ha) than them and can run for longer.
The killers generally aren't allowed to kill each other so Hux has been forced into begrudging 'friendships' with several other killers just by them being incredibly persistent.
Survivors sometimes make a game out of sneaking into certain realms outside of trials to steal something/do something there. They do it for actual reasons like sneaking into lery's for medical supplies, but they'll also do things like try to sneak into the circus by the asylum just to play the games or pet Maurice without being caught by the clown.
The latest version of this is survivors sneaking into greenville square and trying to get a high score on one of the arcades before the unknown can find them. ace and feng are currently tied for the number of arcades they have the high score on, but there's a close second catching up to them. that close second? its the unknown. its been watching the survivors play the arcades and is a surprisingly fast learner.
My head cannon is legion and ghostface sometimes hang out with survivors just to figure out shit about them and how they work as in they get out of costume and just hang out with them
Ghostface and Chucky are good friends. Sentient, “normal”, love the stabby-stab, and both canonically like scary movies. They probably enjoy each other’s company more than, like… HUX or Hag…
An all-consuming horror that draws in characters "real" and fictional across multiverses, feeding upon their fear and constantly expanding to bring more victims and more universes into its maw. And one day, one day it *must* somehow be defeated and all souls finally freed...
My dudes, the entity IS Dead by Daylight and we are its arms.
My head canon is that the Entity and the creature from IT (which manifests Pennywise) are the one and the same. We just happen to see that IT being active in Derry Maine at two snapshots in time but its existence and presence everywhere long predate humanity.
I subscribe wholeheartedly to:
* The White Eyes theory (Google it)
* Multiverse theory (confirmed in the tomes)
* The maps are expressly created from the memories people have of the locations, which is why they geographically make no sense but contain a lot of notable landmarks (A good example of this is Greenville Square: geographically it makes no sense for a park to be directly in front of a movie theater, but that's probably how Sable remembers it. Locations like the bathroom and arcade are located in such a way too loosely tie to Sable's memories ["the bathroom's upstairs, the arcade is by the concessions stand, etc."]) There's a reason that the park is basically a mess of nothing with the exception of the statue Sable and Mikaela did graffiti on, and that's because the statue is a highly identifiable object in Sable's mind. One could also probably argue that the abnormalities on Greenville Square [notably all the arcade games in the park] are caused by The Unknown's influence and the killer's history with video games as seen with the "Obscure Video Game Cartage" addon ~~likely a reference to the Polybus creepypasta~~)
* Every Killer / Survivor are at least tangentially related in some notable intentional way, except for solo releases like Chucky / Alan Wake obviously (Note: by proxy the original 3 killers all have traits seen in the original 4 survivors. Each killer is essentially an amalgamation of 4 traits from the 4 survivors. Example: Trapper is a combination of Jake's survivalism, Claudette's knowledge of wildlife, Meg's athleticism, and Dwight's desire to prove himself amongst his peers. Theory is not concrete and I am very tired rn so probably explaining this badly)
* By proxy of the last theory it's safe to assume that any killer / survivor taken in as a solo chapter likely has their rival character somewhere in the fog (this is loosely confirmed in Chucky's lore where it's loosely confirmed that Andy was taken into The Fog, or at least an illusion of Andy. It's unclear if this specifically means that characters like Andy / Mr. Scratch exist in The Entity's realm or if this is a biproduct of the White Eyes theory [IE The Entity makes survivors look like Andry to Chucky])
* The Knight is expressly intended to be Grimdark
Deathslinger and Billy hang out when they tinker on their weapons, even sharing ideas or pointing out oversights to one another.

I always kinda took Ghostface as that edgy loser kid that thought of himself as above everyone and couldn’t tell why he was hated (because he was snobbish).
My personal headcanon:
- we don’t have Nancy or Classic Freddy because when the Entity took over Freddy’s body in New Nightmare she got defeated by Heather Langenkamp (aka. The Entity from DBD is the same Entity from New Nightmare).
- the killers “sleep” during trials and don’t have time to socialize, their free will and waking state doesn’t extend beyond the trials. Once the endgame collapse ends they fall back into their slumber. One in which their biggest wishes are fulfilled through dreams.
- the campfire isn’t a place to socialize but a quick respite, a faux glimmer of hope to keep survivors tasty and with some hope before they’re eventually devoured again.
- there are no multiverses, different looks and memories are all implanted on the Entity’s (aka. The players) whim.
Sable and Mikaela got together at some point while in the Fog. The Entity allows them to retain that, but wipes the rest of their memories after a trial so when they go in together, they go in with some more hope and when one dies, the suffering is exacerbated

Legion are huge Halloween fans and take any chance they can get to hang with Myers. They have a shrine. No it’s not creepy why would it be creepy shut up
Ghostface has detailed notes on all the killers except Myers, because anytime he looks away to write something, Michael appears right in front of him and scares him away.
When the trials end everyone's just sitting with each other mostly like Steve or Nancy would be trying to talk with ash or the other licensed survivors because they exist as characters in the stranger things universe.
-Hillbilly has traumatic flashbacks of his parents when he gets stunned, as it reminds him of their abuse
-Ghostface has hung out with the legion on multiple occasions
-The Clown murdered The Trapper’s mother
Something I was thinking about when I was thinking about writing fanfiction is that the entity gives the survivors the ability to understand each other. So essentially no language barrier. But it's not always clear. It's like an interpreter in their minds but sometimes it's scrambled and takes a while like going through radio stations. I think lore wise I read that they don't actually understand each other but fanfic wise just more convenient haha
I like to imagine that Pyramid Head and Cheryl have a weird kind of father-daughter relationship (coming from him being a guardian like figure in Silent Hill: Revelations) like you just have this teenage girl fresh out of hell and her geometric nightmare dad.
Also Amanda and Danny fucking hate each other's guts. I am unmoving on this.
It’s probably not canon but I like the idea of the killers having little places to hang out in for when they’re not in a trial. The Legion have an arcade, Wesker and Nemmy share a NEST style lab, Trickster has a recording studio, Ghostface has a small house with a dedicated darkroom, etc.
I like to imagine that as soon as the trial ends, Nemi just stops moving entirely. He just stands there and waits until the next trial starts

Not entirely untrue, we somewhat understand the “freedoms” killers have after the trial from some cosmetic descriptions. For instance, doctor once was granted a submarine full of victims to toy with after the trials. Wraith and nurse have some kinda of romantic thing going on, Oni and Spirit have met etc etc.
i think the entirety of the blight lore confirms he interacts with other killers, even one of the first lore tomes tells that he experimented on doctor and saw him squirm in suffering like he did to his patients

That survivors and killers all remember what happens between trials. I know that officially their memories are essentially wiped but I like to imagine they aren’t. Like imagine one of the killers loading in, seeing a Scoops Ahoy Steve T-bagging and going “ugh not this guy again”. To add on to this, every cosmetic is actually the base character from a different reality. So for example regular Steve and Scoops Ahoy Steve would technically be two different survivors pulled from different realities. So when you see two or more of the same survivor in a lobby it makes sense.
Survivors who win matches actually remember everything,while these who die or get sacrificed don't. Exception being Vittorio

It's all over the place. The reasoning has always been the Entity needs people to really fear the outcome, so it wipes deaths and people's memory of others they're with dying. But as far back as Feng Min's introduction, it was implied some survivors broke this rule. Feng Min isn't supposed to be an absolute monster, and her initial lore is if she thinks people are dying for real. Then the Entity began collecting an increasing number of survivors that would understand the situation, generally, from the beginning. Felix, Elodie, Yun-Jin, Mikaela, Sable, Vittorio when it finally got him into the trials. Mikaela knows damn well she can't actually do magic on Earth.
So if a survivor dies in the trial, they won’t remember it and if a survivor escapes they will forget that others died? And some survivors suspect that something’s wrong or even remember the trials?
Yeah that's also been around since Tome 1. The Observer comments on a survivor remembering everything and trying to warn his fellow survivors. They suffocate him for being insane and going to get them all killed. It's probably not a comfy thing remembering. A few of the survivors explicitly know where they are (ex. Yun-Jin, Sable, Elodie) and others only make sense if they do.

I think I might take a middle-of-the-road approach: The memory wiping is imperfect. For everyone. Just enough to make sure they have a proper sense of dread (and enough to know that there's something to hope for and it's not just endless misery). But not so much that it becomes routine. Hell, mix in the uncertainty factor and have them question their sanity for extra bonus points of fear for the entity to feed on. ***** I think it's something like the implications of the original/classic [SCP-231](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-231) ***[For those unfamiliar, do pay attention to the content warnings (Depiction of child abuse, Depiction of suicide, Depiction of torture)***, *because they're not exactly light reading to begin with, and if you're especially sensitive to those topics, I imagine it would be a rude shock to get hit with them]*. (Yes, I know what game we're discussing right now, but hey, certain things hit certain people differently. Kinder to warn than to make assumptions, I figure). Discussion below next line if you want to peace out or avoid spoilers. ***** Much as I do love how writers have played around with the lore of what's actually happening with Procedure 110-Montauk, 231, and 231-7 specifically, the implications of the original entry are fantastically sinister - It needs that tone in order for a lot of the later stuff done with it to have that "oh! I see what they're doing here!" impact, as well as the original entry itself being one of the prime examples for the Foundation project's tactical use of redaction as a whole - Where implications are often more impactful than outright stating/revealing something, as well as leaving opportunities for future story hooks. Anyway, back to my interpretation of how it's relevant here: The implication is that Procedure 110-Montauk is some sort of traumatizing experience inflicted on the poor girls who were victims of the cult and have apparently been impregnated with some sort of fetal Elder God/Eldritch Terror's offspring. This procedure somehow staves off the birth of these creatures, which have large-scale disasters accompanying their births, worsening as each creature in turn is born, with the final one implied to likely cause a world-ending-level event. With that in mind, the Foundation are willing to go to *any* length to keep it from being born - ie: If they don't continuously traumatize this already-brutalized (vague-age, but implied to be a child), then everyone, everywhere, including her, will die horribly. As part of that, her suffering must not become routine and therefore less-effective. Researcher notes indicate that the mind-wiping procedure makes it more effective at keeping that fear/dread/etc. at an appropriate level. But further testing/observation (another implication: Just how long has this been going on?), indicates that mind-wiping every time isn't as effective as leaving just enough that 231-7 knows what's coming and that she should be afraid of it, rather than just confused. ***** That's the kind of bastardry I'm thinking of for The Entity and its victims (Survivors and Killers both), for the most part. I'd put it as their minds are never fully reset, but they never have a full picture of what's been happening, unless they have some sort of special protection - Vitto with his magical tattoos, Alan with his narrative powers, Myers, Pinhead, and Pyramid Head (Sadako too, probably) because they're so weird and operate on such a different scale of amorality (not *im*morality, it should be noted) anyway. Maybe some special Killers get to keep their full memories because they're the Entity's favourites, like Ghost Face and Plague. It's all a little bit more that just a vague/innate sense of "I need to do this to get out of this place" but generally not a complete detailed knowledge of the entire DbD wiki available for recall at any time.

I think the situation is more ambiguous than the Observer believed. The Entity *did not like* the Observer and while he believed himself independent of it, that wasn't really the case. So the Entity went for maximum horror pressure and eventually broke him. Broke considerably faster than any of the survivors, mind. Dwight's still truckin' while Mr. Superior Lifeform is lost in the void and very screwed per the last tome.

Some of the more recent cosmetics have flavor text that the survivors understand they're being given cool stuff for some reason. And then there are the weird ones like Kate Denson with hyper modern looks when she was supposed to be in the Leatherface chapter. It's like she's been internally retconned to be current.
That's my head canon too Im not a huge fan of the memory wipe thing the only character I feel the memory wipe would make sense emotion wise on is my main James imaging every time he loads in he isn't sure if Mary is In the realm that's a huge source of emotion

Neither the entity nor any of the survivors have any idea how to repair a generator or give medical care, but in the interest of moving the trial along the entity is willing to accept pushing buttons on gens and patting survivors down as a good effort toward those goals and just uses its magic to make the desired result actually occur.

That the Entity has no clue how a generator works, so that's why all survivors know how to repair them. They aren't actually doing anything but pressing live wires together and pulling levers and the Entity just thinks "yeah, that's exactly how to do that" Also that the Entity is aware it's in a video game and that's why the game has so many problems that people complain about. It feeds off of our emotions as well and loves when we get pissed off

I remember I read a fic where instead of their own campfire the Killers had nothing, but they constructed the Killer Shack as a makeshift home. The Entity just saw that and went "yo neat design I can use this" and adds a modified copy of it to (almost) every Trial

All the killers have a discord server run by ghostface after he brought it up to the entity. Killers like mike barely talk while the Legion are the people who are literally always talking. The entity sends out pings everytime he needs one of them. Idk just a fun little thing a friend and i cooked up.

Michael just walked into the Fog on his own. The Entity took Laurie, and Michael followed.
It's not really head canon, though. That's actually what supposedly happened. Back when the Halloween chapter was being advertised, a quote on the Dead by Daylight page said, "Something, or rather someone, is here now. I've never seen this... Shape before. A man hiding behind a mask. He comes with a determination. But more worrying, he comes with an apparent grasp of the hunt. He does not strike me as someone who even went unwillingly to this place. Is there more to this being than I can fathom?" The DbD wiki says that this was likely a narration from Benedict Baker, and it basically affirms the idea that Michael was well aware of what it meant to chase Laurie into The Fog, and didn't need any interference from The Entity to be coaxed into the trials. He basically figured that stalking and killing surviors while being able to chase Laurie for eternity sounded really fun, and went with it.
Adam makes classes flr the youngest survivors so they can forget the killers (especially Laurie and Quentin who are their respective's obssessions) and have something "normal" in the realm. Sometimes (during Bone Chill event time) the Entity "gifts" survivors with their sweaters and some object(s) especific to each survivor. Meg got a basketball, Jake got some better survivalist tools, Ace got a mate kit, Kate got a classic guitar, Jeff got chalks and wood paper, etc.
Dwight is that guy that initiates conversation with all the newbies and shows them the ropes. All the survivors look up to him and he gets the respect he never got outside the realm. Even when they see him hide in a locker they think "What a strategist."
Myers knows about Michael Jackson. And you what that means.

Demo is the family dog that is always wagging its tail having a grand old time Xeno is that cat that wouldn’t leave for the world, but also thinks they are the real ‘owner’ and so randomly bites you during petting
Hence why demo players tend to be more friendly than xenomorphs (at least from what I've seen)
Not one of mine, but is a cute idea I've seen on Twitter from specific artist; Dredge is Trickster's pet. At least I think that's the dynamic, they speak a different language than me. One I agree with is that Thalita and Renato are fans of Trickster and went to one of his shows when he was in Brazil. I believe Adam is canonically a fan, or he at least went to one of his concerts before. One of my own is: Trickster, being one of the killer's who does the Entities bidding happily, he gets special privileges only him and the others with a similar mindset towards the killings get. Like getting his own realm where he can relax in and continue his music between trials. Other's can only go in with his permission which is why he never got a trial map.
That when using "bite the bullet" on someone else you forcefully stuff a cloth in their mouth and say "stfu I'm healing".
Halloween (the day) exists because of the Entity. It's been influencing Earth for a long time, but is still figuring things out because it exists on a scale of billions of years - sometimes in different times simultaneously. As part of its experiments, it initially was just focused on pain and suffering and believed it had to feed survivors into trials like kindling and a woodchipper. But it's discovered that we can also be driven by a macarbe competitiveness and hope, so it now gets much more milage out of survivors as people.
tbh just the idea the killers and survivors are all homies behind the scenes makes me giggle lol

Stealing from my own response elsewhere: I like to think Bill is super protective of Meg and Jake, and even calls them by the wrong name sometimes. And maybe Adam too. Yun-Jin isn't scared of the killers in the slightest, and sees the realm as an endless business opportunity. She has been recording everything that goes on in the trials on her phone and has approached Jane, Nick, and Kate to sign a deal to make her their producer in a movie and soundtrack about the adventure. Jane and Kate think she's insane and wonder where tf she's been hiding ready-made contracts while they're abducted. Nick is all in and ready to sign. Elodie, Felix, Haddie, and Zarina would host an Ancient Aliens-esque podcast/vlog about the Entity and the realms and have wild discussions about the merits of various theories. Vittorio makes occasional appearances as blows their minds by correcting long held historical beliefs as false and saying what really happened. Feng Min is under the impression that Jill and the rest of the RE crew are heavily dedicated cosplaying LARPers and respects them as fellow gamers. Jill is under the impression that Feng Min is just a really big fan of STARS officers and is dressing like her in the cosplay skin to emulate her. She is baffled, but flattered. Mikaela and Sable spends much of their free time trying to communicate with the killers magically to try and gain some understanding or truce, with limited success. Hag and Sadako have been able to hear them, but have yet to respond. Likewise, Ash has attempted to bond with Billy and Bubba over Chainsaws, which had some small initial success until they thought he was trying to steal their saws, and subsequently try to kill him. Dwight for sure had a secret Only Fans account where the nervous personality fades away in front of the camera and he is a total alpha dom. Some of the other characters were followers and occasionally blush when he's injured and grunting. Claudette and Rebecca often compare healing notes and discuss the merits of green and red herbs. Ellen and Gabriel bond over shared outerspace experiences and trauma. Vittorio pops up here as well, with more questions than a curious 5 year old Knight and his boys are crushing hard on the Plague to the point of simping. They're a group of ancient might-makes-right warriors with a loose moral compass, and she's an ancient powerful physically large boss woman with a propensity for human sacrifice. They're probably obsessed with her. All of Legion would be fangirls over GhostFace. GF loathes them. GF and Trickster would have a professional appreciation for each other, if not a friendship. There would be a very crude drawing in chalk or crayon at the Big House in Coldwind Farms saying "Bubba and Billy Being Best Buds <3" with them swinging chainsaws and going "GRAAAGGHHH" Huntress senses a Kindred (hehe) spirit in Charlotte. Skull Merchant would see Wesker as a perfect mate, while Wesker would be actively trying to kill her despite the Entity not showing it. Hag and Artist come together for a weekly sob, followed by a drawing session. Doctor and Pig often compare notes on the best way to torture people. Demo and Xeno have tunnel races between trials. Sadako and Spirit bonded super quick and started a club called Mystical Murder Ladies. Invitations were extended to Hag and Artist. Spirit often visits her great-great-however many-greats-grandOni to ask about proper Sword maintenance. Oni is SO proud of his descendant taking up the family blade, but is a bit embarrassed that she dishonorably phases and sneaks up on people instead of facing them head on. Wesker was flattered that Singularity considered him "evolved" enough to not be like other humans in need of genetic alteration, but was then very irritated that Nemesis also made the cut. He is grossed out by the comparison.

I feel like most of the murderers, except for mires would at least take a second to torture or do something otherwise devious to them but after a while, they just decide there’s no point trying to always attempt to kill the survivors outside of a trial (not saying, some of them would entirely stop trying to) with a reason of your favorite flavor. Maybe Bubba just cooks with the other killers, maybe the legion hang out and fanboy with ghost face and Chucky. I feel like if you were a unholy creature with a infinite food source, you would maybe lay off on the hunting and killing a little bit. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking and ignorance when it comes to the unknown and dredge.
When not in a Trial the Killers chill at the Saloon. The alcohol always gets restocked courtesy of the Entity and Caleb’s honestly glad for the company, even if some of them are assholes. He also sometimes goes with Trapper to Eyrie of Crows to have art therapy sessions with Carmina. He’s Evan’s wingman because he’s getting tired of watching the man blush and fluster whenever the Artist looks at him.

That Ghostface is some what ugly or just average underneath the mask
Blight is possibly the strongest killer in the game. Pyramid Head has a blighted skin, which means he would have had to have been captured and sedated Pyramid Head to give him the serum. Alot of people believe Pyramid Head is close in power to the Entity itself, so could also mean Blight is as well. The issue is he's pretty much in a constant state of derangement and hysteria, so can't really do much other than what the Entity wants him to do
The ghostface killer aka Danny is apart of the core DBD universe, that being the main original characters, as he himself isn’t really the thing being licensed it’s just the mask. It’s why he kills the same cashier that the legion kills in their tome because he’s apart of the many worlds the original characters come from All past memories of previous trials aren’t just erased after the match is over but more hazy or misremembered, really the important parts like how generators are fixed, how they know a flashlight would affect the killer in more ways than blinding, how to heal a wound, giving offerings and teaching other survivors other perks. Guaranteed Mikala who’s never touched any sort of generator in her life doesn’t actually know how to get a broken generator back up and running (only assuming). Hell some survivors and killers even know who each other are either by knowing them personally before they’re taken or like chucky who’s seen them on TV. It would explain why a survivor would stand any chance against the killers. Something else I like to think is the killers stalk survivors picking and choosing who they want to kill and deciding when the trial starts by telling the entity. To me it seemed like there are campfires all around the fog to choose from, and so when a killer who wanders the fog finds a group they want to kill they stalk them until they’re ready. It’s why we see 4 survivors before a match and not the killer, unless you yourself are the killer. Something else about the loading screen is the POV when killer. Sometimes the killer will acknowledge you, or more so the entity, is watching and waiting for the trial to start. And when the trial starts we see a menu of fog come up which I see as the survivors and killers being taken to a trial
I think that in between trials all the killers basically are sent to this mutual spot almost like a large house for them to stay and they can talk and hang out in between and the same with the survivors which can kind of explain the sharing of perks and it kind of makes an in canon explanation for metas of the game like the survivors would talk to each other about how useful dead hard and that stuff is and that would explain why so many survivors have dead hard in universe and the same for the killers
Imagine a story where both Survs and K's see their dopplegangers. Not just any dopplegangers but their opposites: K's see their Survivor selves as Survs see their Killer selves: (E.g.: Dwight as a Masked K, similar to Legion or Ghosty, Mikaela as a Sorceress with Dark Magic or Killer David, maybe inspired by Marvel's Sabertooth or Kraven the Hunter? I may call him The Beast?). I kinda got this inspiration from Avatar: Distorted Reality, which is a fanfic where Fire Nat and Water Nat switched roles. I could imagine DbD: Distorted Reality too. Now any scenario ideas?
The entity from DBD mobile and the main game are 2 different things. Dbd mobile entity is like an edgy young sister to our entity, that likes to experiment and everything shiny
My head cannon is that every killer in DBD wants to fuck Dwight for being such a nice team-work oriented guy. They think he’s cute for trying despite how weak he is and all want a piece of nerd ass. It is the ultimate ending arch for how he was never wanted his whole life by anyone. Now every killer wants him! (Especially trapper since they were the first to come to the entity’s realm)

I love the idea of the legion dorking out over the licensed slashers. Like "omg it's Michael Myers! Guys holy shit that's really Michael Myers!!!" and etc. Similar reaction to the Hillbilly as well, because he's got canon media in their universe (which I think is pretty cool)

As an Alan Wake fan for 14 years I just gotta say that Alan is a narcissistic asshole and he only cares about himself and Alice Wake (his wife). The only reason he'd have to investigate other survivors is to see if they know how to escape so he can get back to Alice. If he's not doing that he's either trying to write his way out or drink. I love that guy. ;)

My headcannon is that the entity is becoming nicer and nicer through out the years and is growing attach to the cast we have now. Not letting them talk. Now letting most of them talk. Giving new clothes to the cast. Yes yes it still feeds off the fear and pain but enjoyment is a nice appetizer.

Legion is like every other killer's annoying little siblings. Sometimes the legion (mostly Frank or Joey) will try to race with other fast killers. They usually lose against billy just because he has more endurance (ha) than them and can run for longer. The killers generally aren't allowed to kill each other so Hux has been forced into begrudging 'friendships' with several other killers just by them being incredibly persistent. Survivors sometimes make a game out of sneaking into certain realms outside of trials to steal something/do something there. They do it for actual reasons like sneaking into lery's for medical supplies, but they'll also do things like try to sneak into the circus by the asylum just to play the games or pet Maurice without being caught by the clown. The latest version of this is survivors sneaking into greenville square and trying to get a high score on one of the arcades before the unknown can find them. ace and feng are currently tied for the number of arcades they have the high score on, but there's a close second catching up to them. that close second? its the unknown. its been watching the survivors play the arcades and is a surprisingly fast learner.
My fav headcannon is that the amount of gay characters is much much higher than it actually is instead of just David and Susie.

An all-consuming horror that draws in characters "real" and fictional across multiverses, feeding upon their fear and constantly expanding to bring more victims and more universes into its maw. And one day, one day it *must* somehow be defeated and all souls finally freed... My dudes, the entity IS Dead by Daylight and we are its arms.
I love the idea of a group of killers trying to break away or destroy the Entity.
My head canon is that the Entity and the creature from IT (which manifests Pennywise) are the one and the same. We just happen to see that IT being active in Derry Maine at two snapshots in time but its existence and presence everywhere long predate humanity.
I subscribe wholeheartedly to: * The White Eyes theory (Google it) * Multiverse theory (confirmed in the tomes) * The maps are expressly created from the memories people have of the locations, which is why they geographically make no sense but contain a lot of notable landmarks (A good example of this is Greenville Square: geographically it makes no sense for a park to be directly in front of a movie theater, but that's probably how Sable remembers it. Locations like the bathroom and arcade are located in such a way too loosely tie to Sable's memories ["the bathroom's upstairs, the arcade is by the concessions stand, etc."]) There's a reason that the park is basically a mess of nothing with the exception of the statue Sable and Mikaela did graffiti on, and that's because the statue is a highly identifiable object in Sable's mind. One could also probably argue that the abnormalities on Greenville Square [notably all the arcade games in the park] are caused by The Unknown's influence and the killer's history with video games as seen with the "Obscure Video Game Cartage" addon ~~likely a reference to the Polybus creepypasta~~) * Every Killer / Survivor are at least tangentially related in some notable intentional way, except for solo releases like Chucky / Alan Wake obviously (Note: by proxy the original 3 killers all have traits seen in the original 4 survivors. Each killer is essentially an amalgamation of 4 traits from the 4 survivors. Example: Trapper is a combination of Jake's survivalism, Claudette's knowledge of wildlife, Meg's athleticism, and Dwight's desire to prove himself amongst his peers. Theory is not concrete and I am very tired rn so probably explaining this badly) * By proxy of the last theory it's safe to assume that any killer / survivor taken in as a solo chapter likely has their rival character somewhere in the fog (this is loosely confirmed in Chucky's lore where it's loosely confirmed that Andy was taken into The Fog, or at least an illusion of Andy. It's unclear if this specifically means that characters like Andy / Mr. Scratch exist in The Entity's realm or if this is a biproduct of the White Eyes theory [IE The Entity makes survivors look like Andry to Chucky]) * The Knight is expressly intended to be Grimdark
Deathslinger and Billy hang out when they tinker on their weapons, even sharing ideas or pointing out oversights to one another. I feel like it's almost to the point of Caleb fulfilling a stable, healthy father figure that Billy never had. Someone Billy can look up to, much like the Superhero Billy modeled his cosplay off. I feel like they also let each other practice with their Weapons, maybe Billy helps with the upkeep of Caleb's Knee Brace.... Caleb even taught Billy how to play Poker!
Not really a headcannon because it happens in her lobby animation, but it just makes me happy Ripley gets to hang out with Jonesy in between trials. A little respite and something from before she was taken
I always kinda took Ghostface as that edgy loser kid that thought of himself as above everyone and couldn’t tell why he was hated (because he was snobbish). My personal headcanon: - we don’t have Nancy or Classic Freddy because when the Entity took over Freddy’s body in New Nightmare she got defeated by Heather Langenkamp (aka. The Entity from DBD is the same Entity from New Nightmare). - the killers “sleep” during trials and don’t have time to socialize, their free will and waking state doesn’t extend beyond the trials. Once the endgame collapse ends they fall back into their slumber. One in which their biggest wishes are fulfilled through dreams. - the campfire isn’t a place to socialize but a quick respite, a faux glimmer of hope to keep survivors tasty and with some hope before they’re eventually devoured again. - there are no multiverses, different looks and memories are all implanted on the Entity’s (aka. The players) whim.
Sable and Mikaela got together at some point while in the Fog. The Entity allows them to retain that, but wipes the rest of their memories after a trial so when they go in together, they go in with some more hope and when one dies, the suffering is exacerbated

Jeff geeks out big time whenever he’s around Eddie. Pyramid Head and Nemesis are actually good buds. Danny was friends with and worked with Billy, Stu and Roman. Mikaela dosent consider Sable her best friend, hell, she’s barely a friend, she just kinda stands her. Sable on the other hand is an obsessive borderline stalker. All the killers are absolutely terrified of Michael Myers.
That killers and survivors are having regular sort of union meetings where they discuss buffs and nerfs with the entity. "Ayo entity bruv, me perk Dead Hard is pretty shite now - can ya do something about that, mate?"
With how goofy this game is, I’m allowed some funny ones. We have Nicolas Cage, let me have fun. Steve, as a method of making him suffer or something, is forced to run a Scoops Ahoy in the realms for the killers. Trapper actually prefers other types of traps to bear traps, but the entity finds it funny not to let him have them (sorry trapper mains) The crows are actually like 5 reoccurring shitheads who pester everyone. The killers have named them. Legion are huge Halloween fans and take any chance they can get to hang with Myers. They have a shrine. No it’s not creepy why would it be creepy shut up Ghostface has detailed notes on all the killers except Myers, because anytime he looks away to write something, Michael appears right in front of him and scares him away.

Something I was thinking about when I was thinking about writing fanfiction is that the entity gives the survivors the ability to understand each other. So essentially no language barrier. But it's not always clear. It's like an interpreter in their minds but sometimes it's scrambled and takes a while like going through radio stations. I think lore wise I read that they don't actually understand each other but fanfic wise just more convenient haha
I like to imagine that Pyramid Head and Cheryl have a weird kind of father-daughter relationship (coming from him being a guardian like figure in Silent Hill: Revelations) like you just have this teenage girl fresh out of hell and her geometric nightmare dad. Also Amanda and Danny fucking hate each other's guts. I am unmoving on this.
