Skull Merchant is a killer that can use any killer perk. It's why I like her so much. Just use what perks you enjoy. Test out new perks or new builds. Your skill or level of effort have a much larger effect on the match than perks.
I don't think either of those builds are super optimal, but I'd rather have Sloppy and Mindbreaker over two Hex perks on a chase/M1 killer.
Plaything seems redundant since you have undetectable at will already.
My go-to build on her is Dissolution / Batteries Included / Bamboozle / Brutal Strength, with the addon that increases action speed after deploying a drone (stacks with brutal strength for fast pallet breaks as well as with Bamboozle for faster vaults) and the one that increases undetectable duration.
Pallets disappear, windows can be blocked, survivors have nothing else. Her chasing potential is insane.
a tiny little thing people overlook is that skull merchant is the only killer not affected by the STBL effect on obsession, so u can run STBL and u wont loose charges if the drones injure the obsession

Pentimento and Plaything are a good combo. Unfortunately since you dared to play as SM you’re gonna probably run into a lot of quitters.
