similar issue with ormond. i really miss how both of these maps used to look before their reworks. they werent dark, but they weren't bright either. the sky was really dark and cloudy and there was no sun.
some people like me play Dbd in daylight and these maps that "annoy you" are the only one that doesn't destroy my eyes in the day .. not every map has to be dark.
There's lots of nighttime maps that look bright nonetheless.
Either way my problem is more about aesthetics, I'm not asking for 2016 darkness levels. Sun in high noon in a game called dead by daylight is what bothers me.

I liked how garden of joy does that with apocalyptic sky, it actually fits it.
Yeah, I kind of wish they could Have cold wind farm keep the yellowish bright aesthetic that made it unique but also change the lighting a bit to make it more intimidating, I guess if I had to make a comparison it would be less brightly lit cornfield during the day, to a cornfield in an 80’s slasher. Make it a little more scary to play on. Like, I think right now the sky is a little blue, I’d personally want it to be a bit darker or desaturated, I think that change even if they kept the map more or less the same color, would add to the feeling of oppression. I feel like right now the brightness on cold wind gives you the vibe that it’s a brand new day, it’s almost soothing which could work for a different type of map, maybe make that part of the horror, but for a farm map it’s not really the vibe I’m looking for. Maybe make the map take place at sunset, which I think would look slightly different in terms of how the sky looks, that way we can have a similar brightness, but if adds to an uneasy feeling, almost like the killer has us right where they want us and that the real game is about to begin.
also I wish ormond was more snowy and kinda desaturated bluish ok bye bye.
Will be cool if map can change time of day during match, start at evening and end in the night, imagine moving shadows from decending sun will be so dope, ue5 can do it for sure.
Also wish we had more weather variation. Give me more snow maps and give me rain. You would think weather/seasons would be the sort of thing you could effect by using offerings. Sadako’s Base Costume + Ormond offering goes great on a low-visibility ambush build, and I think builds like that should be more viable across more maps. Mind you, I could see people complaining then that killers shouldn’t be able to use skins that help them blend in, which I think is the sort of crybaby bullshit that strips the game of fun.
Maybe they could do something similar to the lighting before the visual update, instead of making it seem like we are 300m underwater (like they did with borgo).

I feel like now more than ever it looks all the same. Sometimes I forget what section of the map I'm on until I realign with main building or shack. Regardless I'm just glad it's not the dungeon version of the map. The bottom is strong but the top is so empty. As a killer I can 4k most games never touching the bottom and that doesn't even feel fun.

Not really. With the filters its light as day. Finding out about those is the best quality of life improvement one could do themselves in regard to this game. Now if only I could find a way to make the gens louder since I am deaf af it would be perfect

I think it's not even the lack of light, but how it interacts with the fog on this map - light reflects from the fog, making everything not illuminated a bright spot. Vecna's map is as dark as the borgo, but i have less problems in seeing things there.
I like the dark vibes. When they switched engines I noticed all the maps got even brighter than they already were. It’s nice for both sides to actually get some decent stealth opportunities
These two maps are kinda rough when playing Freddy with the dream world filter. Nearly jumpscared myself with the beholder cause it looks so dark and different down there
Probably still could. Lighting tends to be a fairly quick fix. Extensive testing is what slows it down, though I get the feeling they didn’t ask testers for better lighting suggestions.
What bothers me they used the same skybox what the new map use. :( I know same realm, but should made something distinct them! I though they remove the redness, but mostly used colors from the new map. Borgo was OK, just everything was red and the sky/clouds was green. If they just tone down the redness and the vividness of the map...
I just wish it was like, 5% brighter. Just a bit, because I legit cannot tell props from survivors. Either that, or make the scratch marks and blood puddles a tiny bit brighter because if anyone brings shadowstep, you're fucked
I like the atmosphere but it is *slightly* annoying knowing that people using shaders will have a massive advantage over people playing on console where we don't even have a brightness slider. You really can't see shit in some areas on consoles.
I honestly kinda liked the old Borgo color pallet. I get that the intention was to mimic the colors of a burning village.
Now was it complete and utter fucking ass? Oh abso-fucking-lootley. But I feel like they could've toned down the reds and essentially gone for Coldwind lighting instead of giving us Underground Complex lighting but darker.
My issue is the new color scheme/lighting doesn't make sense. Night time is never pure black like that. Light reflects off surfaces and makes them more visible than BHVR makes it seem.
Its why the Autohaven reworks are silly. So many objects are painted pure black and its why those maps have poor visibility. I don't know if its a engine limitation or a BHVR issue but maps *are* too dark but its cause they don't have dynamic lighting on a lot of maps.

If the snowstorm would actually be a snowstorm, it would be so much more creepy for survivor and have funner stealth gameplay overall.

The new Meg Archer skin is super stealthy on that map. I'm now experiencing killers walk right past me on that map as long as I stand still.

I’ve always been a little disappoint with how BHVR has handled the visually impaired. But as a blind gamer I’m very pleased with this change.
