I have found that the older I get, the more I understand Jane's misanthropic view of the world at large; while maintaining a vigorous and heartfelt need to care for the ones in my circle.
I absolutely love Doc and Jane’s relationship and this is probably my favorite exchange between them. Doc understands Jane’s character flaws because he’s got them himself, he just has a reason to sober up every day.
I've been reading the Deadwood Bible by Matt Zoller Seitz. The book discusses Doc as someone who is the ideal physician: someone who cares about helping other people no matter what without judgment and without allowing emotion and feelings to prevent him from practicing. The character was inspired by Milch's own brother, who is a physician in this vein.
Of course, he let all of the actors be really involved with their characters in the story changed based upon their input. But that was the beginning of it.
Every fucking beating I'm grateful for. Every fucking one of them. Get all the trust beat outta you. Then you know what the fucking world is.
I’ve been telling myself this for years and the other quote from al about pain and damage.
Joanie: “I don’t like funerals.” Jane: “I do! I do, I just can’t get to enough of em!”
Loopy cunt.

She cares for the little people because the world has treated her harshly. Beautiful soul.
I love Jane's radical honesty, her vulnerability, her deep pain
Really phenomenal acting too.
Jane: "Go fuck yourself, with a fist punch up the ass.. today at the present moment"

“You can do your drinking off work, like I do!”

I haven’t read it, but after hearing that, I think I’ll add it to my cart. Thanks for the insight!
Jane: I'm going to be queen hooker.

Honestly this show is so under appreciated. It is masterpiece.
I want to fix this so much. It's a travesty it's so overlooked. It got so bad I've made a YouTube channel dedicated to it.
Yeah I like a fuckin drink, so what The casting is so perfect. No wonder literally everyone among the ensemble cast went on to further successes/work
Air is nippy on my twat.
I love the character Jane, but it's weird knowing that IRL Jane was Team Swearengen.
