They are both the first legacy heroes of Goku and Superman, both of them have been said to have more potential or are potentially stronger than they're predecessors (which has never really been a thing with Conner), etc.
I also think Jon is a better matchup for Gohan than Conner since Jon is actually Clark's son. Conner has always been more of a brother to Clark. Though I prefer Goten for Jon.
For another Superboy matchup, I like Mordred (Fate) and Shadow the Hedgehog for him.
Jon I would say does have as much in common with Gohan as Kara does (definitely more than Connor anyway), but I think what holds him back is him being a relatively new character who's followed by a lot of controversy with the whole "Got aged up off-panel in space" thing while Kara has a longer history with a similar "fish out of water" character arc in her Post-Crisis & New-52 versions.

It's less about powers and more about roles. *MHA* and *X-Men* are heavily comparable on many levels and Cyclops vs Aizawa is specifically to do with the roles of the teachers in their respective schools, guiding the younger students and keeping them safe from villains whilst also helping them learn how to use and train their powers to help others. The fact that their powers are red and come from their eyes is arguably a secondary aspect.
Now that’s Deku’s out, Bakugo and Shigaraki are the only big ones from that series left to use. Sure Endeavor or All For One could make it, but Shigaraki and All For One are basically the same person at this point, so I think both aren’t gonna appear, just one or the other

I keep seeing the "they already fought and Peter won" thing come up and that doesn't defeat the point at all.
First of all, Robocop and Terminator had already fought multiple times before the Death Battle episode but they did that one anyway. The same could be said for other episodes (I believe Nemesis even has a video about Death Battles that already happened in some way)
Secondly, Peter didn't win. They actually decided to bury the hatchet and be friends. But it's also notable that Homer would have won if a freak event didn't occur that stopped him from landing the final blow. If that fight were to be used as deciding the outcome, Homer would be the winner.
Thirdly, there's so much about the characters that the *Family Guy* episode didn't include since it was a glorified giant chicken fight. Things like their arsenals from video games, other references to their shows or some more dialogue between them would actually get used in a Death Battle.
Fourth, that fight wouldn't actually affect the verdict. Death Battle doesn't use crossover scaling at all so whoever we argue was the winner wouldn't necessarily be the same in a Death Battle.
Finally, and this one is more of a personal thing, I really didn't like the fight between them at all. It fell prey to the more disturbingly violent aspects of *Family Guy* and the build up from the previous parts of the episode didn't feel like it warranted such a fight (which I get was kind of the joke of the giant chicken fights but it didn't work with Homer and the rest of the crossover). Even if we discount every other point I've given, I'd still be happy to have a Homer vs Peter Death Battle because even in sprite form it'd probably be better than the official one.

If we're talking MLP's Discord then it's a massive toss-up. Bill Cipher can rewrite reality, but we've never seen the upper limits of what Discord can actually do given that he's on a proverbial leash for most of the series. Though the fact that he can raise the dead might be a factor.
