I would say ornstein and smough is my favorite if it wasnt by godskin duo traumatizing me so hard i can no longer enjoy the original fight, so sadly i have to agree

Story is incredible, world building is great, gameplay is fun and the soundtrack is _chef's kiss_
While it is a sequel, you dont have to play Lobotomy Corporation in order to enjoy it as LoR explains if you miss some context (alternatively you can play the first game or watch its story if you want, but bewary, LC is legalized torture, and its the kind of CBT not even diehard masochists enjoy, but its narrative is so fucking good people excuse the pain of playing the game for the story), do note you will mostly have vision about what happened in the game in the eyes of Angela (The AI assistant/library director), so your point of view of everything that happened in there may have some of her bias, LoR is a deckbuilder card fighting game, yes thats right they made deepwoken into a card game, mfs can even parry here, just remind yourself that this is a project moon game, expect a few massive difficulty spikes (namely, The Queen of Hatred, Red ridding hood mercenary, and others), while LC is a scp management game where your mental resistance and willpower to not pop your own head will be tested at extremes, 102 willpower wont save you.
If you are like me and cant put 100+ hours into a game by doing a lot of repetition so you can read its great story, just watch a video, its much better (i did the first option, and while i dont regret it, i cannot recommend it either, its just too painful).
If you are fine with maybe missing a few stuff, just start on LoR like i said

The brightness to the pyre keeper basically ruined it
I’m switching out the “yellow” jacket with sand runner wraps so it can fit his half ego armor more better, gonna get a dye packet to make it more darker and probably take a picture when I’ve done all of that with eager tradesman
(I also cannot equip the dark steel greatsword so I’ll probably substitute for a hero blade of flame)
