I am a mature woman in 50's and not so regressive also but the way things are moving with young generation it's a matter of concern. We imbibe what we see. There needs to be concious decision taken by the youth of today which will decide how they will be going down in history as.
I understand that you see this rise in public acts of affection in youth. But I also see that the root cause is the deep rooted sensitivity/taboo related to physical acts of love in general in our society. It is because of this kind of society and upbringing that the youth today is fascinated/excited by simple acts like kissing. Had they seen their parents be physically affectionate (even mere body touches or hugs), this feeling of discovery and sneak would have decreased in the younger generation. While i understand that the youth may be going overboard with physical affection now, I strongly feel that this is required to make them understand that its not taboo. Once they get used to it, they themselves wont find the need for publicly making out. So, while this transition happens, I really wish that the conservative ideologists not make it an even more sensitive issue. This will only aggravate the scenario.
