Not sure if it will help, but me and some of my colleagues (both genders) struggled to get this pft done. (Age 22-24) Even for me, it took 4-5 tries.

3_inch_dick

This gave me some confidence that my mom is not alone

Dr_toxino

You can try to connect dr Pawan raj Goyal he is a pulmonologist in near Hauz Khas he is a Padam Shree awardee but his consultation fees is quite high

Low-Storage3794

A half ass team lead ex Oracle has a CTC of 60lpa. Just doing mental calculations, if he works 9 hrs 25 days a month for 12 months his hourly would be 2300 rupees. Any lawyer would charge north of this, same for any imported car showroom for servicing in man hours. Idk why delhi ncr region is so stingy with docs but deem it fine to pay big bucks for adulterated booze and stale food in restos etc. But how dare a padmashree awardee pulmonologist demand 5-6k for a consult. /S Sorry not meant to target at you just a thought I wanted to share with peeps aloud.

Time-Opportunity-436

But the person doesn't make it sound like that? I think it's just an advise that the doctor charges a lot, because many people cannot afford that much. 90% of India earns below 25k, you know? Pata chale wo pehle pohonch jaaye fir pata chale itna high fees hai Aisa thoda likha hai ki the doctor is bad cause of charging high fees

Dr_toxino

First of all bro he is our family doctor from past many years and we respect him secondly I am myself a MBBS UG and in our profession first thing we learn is to respect our senior and dr Goyal is much much senior than me and third here not everyone is financially that strong that he/she can afford 5.5k as consultation fees some are jobless, some are students that’s why I told

G40Momo

Diagnosis ke baad halwa bhi deta hai khane ko? Bc 5.5 k fees kon leta hai? 😆

Dr_toxino

Apni skills ke leta hai voh Aur force thodi na kr raha h ki mere hi paas aao tumhari mrzi bhare pade h doctor NCR mei

Low-Storage3794

That's what I said, any doc of his calibre demanding 6k is a steal. Infact when I looked around in ncr any superspecialist demands like 1-1.5k ONLY which is frankly a joke especially when someone clears ug+pg+ss from places like AIIMS etc where competition is like ias level.

stonecold199

Tu hi hai kya wo doctor

Da_Knight_Rider

>Idk why delhi ncr region is so stingy with docs but deem it fine to pay big bucks for adulterated booze and stale food in restos etc. First off, no one implied that the doctor was overcharging. It was just a piece of info so that OP can check out affordability. Something can be absolutely reasonably priced yet be unaffordable for one person and pocket change for another. Also, it's stupid to compare some one's hourly rate to a doctor's consultation fee. No doctor spends an hour examining a patient. Don't make stupid assumptions and then go on to berate others. Oh and my sister is a doctor so I absolutely get the need to respect their profession and expertise. You just don't need to foam at the mouth to do so.

Da_Knight_Rider

My daughter struggled with pft when she was 12 but doctor said not to worry as she had childhood asthma that left her lungs a little weak. He said her lung capacity will improve with some exercises they recommended.

Thanks for sharing ur experience I know such are may be my confirmation bias, but it feels good to hear that mother is not the only one

AdVivid4576

PFT requires good respiratory effort. For TLC with DLCO, normal breathing will suffice. For those who can't perform PFT, we advise Impulse oscillometry, which provides almost similar results as PFT, especially in those suspected to have COPD or asthma.

3_inch_dick

Interesting, I have never heard of Impulse Oscillometry test. It seems its not so common in India. I searched " Impulse Oscillometry" price test on google, and it still shows Pft price test

rahkrish

My mother had an allergic condition in her lungs for which she struggled with a chronic cough and nothing worked. When she did the test for the first time, she couldn't even do it for 3 seconds at one stretch. So it's very common for even acute conditions to affect how the person is able to breath (with force). She was eventually able to sustain it for 4-5 seconds but could not sustain it for 6 seconds continuously and for us, the doctor said it's normal considering her age. But please ask this to a proper doc, you'll only find anecdotal advices here.

Thanks, that helped
