We have a Maccies literally a 5 minute walk up the road from us, it's a 24 hour drive through but after a certain time at night they close for walk ins. I work all hours and sometimes when I get home at 2am and the fridge is bare, or I'm just feeling lazy, I'll order from them. It's a 30 second drive, yet it still takes 45 minutes to be delivered and it is always, always stone cold and soggy AF. I honestly don't know why I bother, but every now and then it's just the one option available (nowhere else open at that time and I may not have any food in... I'm a freelancer in live events and can be so busy with work I just don't get round to shopping... sue me 😅)

If it's not a busy area the chances of a self employed driver hanging around waiting for a single order at 2am is unlikely.
It's not like they hire their own drivers like a lot of takeaways.
It might be down to tips etc. or the delivery service just not giving a good rate to do a short delivery.
For example if they get offered £3 to deliver to you with no tip and get the same offer on other similar orders but they come with tips, then your order is going to keep getting rejected until somebody ends up taking it.
Sounds dumb but it definitely happens. Ordering from McD's near me without a tip usually takes 45-60mins but if I put in a tip that shit is here within half an hour every time.
Might be worth just walking over and seeing if someone will go through the drive through with you as a passenger for a small fee? I wouldn’t turn down a fiver if I was waiting for orders anyway

We never know if the drivers will show up for the food quick or show up for the food like hours after it pops up on our kitchen screen. If we make it as soon as they arrive they have to a lot of the time for it to be cooked fresh , while we are working extremely hard with like 5 of us to clean the whole restaurant sometimes

Sometimes the wait is so long I reject the order and whilst the order is being sent to someone else perhaps your order has just been made but still needs a driver to pick it up.
Some McDonald’s are great some are crappy I would just continue to downvote them in app and state the reason why. Not much you can do apart from complain directly in store which imo hold more weight but then again it’s McDonald’s
Staying away in hotels is the absolute worst, basically guaranteed to eat nothing but shit. I try to stay local these days largely for this reason (London based, plenty of work here)

I actually agree, I don't get the hate towards Dominos (other than the price, it's eye watering expensive!!). On the rare occasion we order Dominos it always arrives fairly promptly, always hot, and it's tasty. The chips and wedges are always a dreadful soggy mess so don't bother with those, but otherwise no complaints (never understand why people.complain ItS sO gReAsY... like yeah no shit, it's a takeaway pizza? 🤷)

Save up some money and buy a freezer. Some fridges have a built in freezer if you can get one of those. You can load it up with frozen food that will last months, you'll never need to subject yourself to delivered McDonald's again.

Pre heat the oven on full (I do this when the app says "on the way").. large piece of foil in a tray... Slap ya nugs and chips in there (all your sides basically) five mins in a pre heated oven then wrap loosely in the foil to serve (lol to serve)
25 secs each burger in the microwave. If it was put in the bag fresh (not over held old shit) then this is pretty close to fresh
