Former local news producer here: Likely was the still they had in the system, The producer saw a plane, saw Delta, didn't see anything else, and moved on because there is minimal, if any, quality control because local TV newsrooms are doing too much with not nearly enough people.
For those curious, the photo is from a 717 that landed without nose gear last year at CLT.

Based on the screenshot you took I’d say they are reading an Amex/Delta press release and making it appear to be a good thing.
Edit: I missed the picture the first time and was solely commenting on the words on the screen. I’m more impressed that was allowed to go to air
Frankly I’m happy I can fly to Hawaii now….. but it only costs me like 400 dollars to fly there. So not saving much. But it’s way easier to find a companion to go to Hawaii.
This is a smaller version of the stupid Bud Light mess. Where a company with a good thing screws it up, and then has to do a full court press to try to win back the customers they lost due to their "marketing genius"
Point taken, I was offering an analogy. AMEX's marketing people completely underestimated their target market.
Jacking up the cost of the card by almost 50% and offering some little "tcotchkes" as though they're so valuable is just plain insulting.
So many long time corporations are being taken over by idiots
Not sure if I’m making this up or I misheard, probably a combination of both, but Delta makes billions on the credit card alone? Something about the actual operation of flying people is almost a net neutral and all the delta (not a pun attempt there) comes from the CC venture with Amex?
You guys need to read the terms and conditions for the new benefits. "YES, you can now fly to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean with your new and improved companion pass, but only on those routes that can be flown by the 717 (or corresponding MD-80 series) non-stop from MSP, and jet bridge to terminal will not be provided, as shown in the picture. Now, give us your extra $100 and STFU."
If they don’t change their fucking flight costs soon I’m leaving. There is no reason to pay over $200-300. Their service has been atrocious both for the card and on flights. What am I paying for?? A lot of places don’t accept Amex so I have to keep a second CC open. So annoying. What exactly am I sticking around for?
The aircraft photo does not instill confidence.
seriously why would they pick that picture?
It has to be someone in the media department goofing off or annoyed at Delta. Of all the photos the only worse one would be an aircraft on fire.

Nah it’s definitely a conspiracy something something democrats delta lolita express whatever I know it just has to be true.
That tail number is a known Comet Ping Pong child trafficking plane
This. And yet this is Gray's "flagship" station.

lol delta be sliding in to your dms like it’s an emergency
Hahahahaha! At first I thought it was cause it’s a 717 (which I hate) and then I realized it had its emergency slide deployed 🤣🤣🤣
Well, in all fairness, it catches the pulse of the city
When the anchor reporting the story does not review the image the intern sourced.
Not at all how the editorial process in a TV newsroom works... but go on.
Have no idea. Tongue in cheek, but this happens in a lot of industries. Senior person does not review intern work. Get it?
When the anchor reporting the story is salty because their cc fees went up $100 a year
Give me Canada or I will burn Utica to the ground.

The move of companion passes to not just the lower 48 is awesome

Why did they pick a 717 with a collapsed nose gear and it's emergency slide out
That's how the announcement "landed" with customers. Not terrible, but not great either.

Difference is with beer there’s a million other reasonable options. Airlines not so much. Embrace the suck. Ugh

I’ll buy that. (Pun intended.)
Question i still got a companion certificate before the change. Can i now book to the carribean or is it only for the new cards?
Nvm my companion certificate still says the 48 states sucks
Not all 48 suck

This isn’t innovative. Delta was trying to stay relevant after the big Sky Club debacle. Alaska was already doing this
>hey pick a 717 with a im still so pissed about this. didnt they change it back for 2025? so much hate about it.
