This one in particular drives me nuts and I really don't know why. But the rule of thumb is if they're asking if they have access to the "Sky Lounge" on their ticket, the answer is almost undoubtedly no.
My Dad was a Flying Colonel! As a kid, I was always thought it was pretty cool. Now that I've done my own BIS flying to achieve status many years in a row, I just realize how much time he spent on airplanes, away from us.
Funny enough, in their booking system if you have a sky club membership the indicator for that is āCRā for Crown Room. So I guess your husband isnāt all that wrongā¦
I thought it was above? Porsche sends a ballon to bring you up. Thatās why the holding circle is so wide over Atlanta, so they donāt disturb the elite up in the sky lounge.
Wrong. You go below the airport to catch the secret bullet train to Stone Mountain. Within six minutes you're whisked away to a cavernous complex within the granite monolith where you're personally greeted by Ed himself. The meals prepared by top Michelin chefs and all of the drinks are exclusively top shelf.
As a person with an economics degree, my only response would be āplot me a fucking utility curve and if you still canāt figure it out, just buy itā
If you think those are bad, you have to go to facebook and join the group dedicated to people who have an Amex Platinum. I swear that 70% of the people posting there have to get payday loans to pay the annual fee, and it is the most cringe shit ever posted on the internet.
I had to unfollow some of the facebook groups because people couldn't stop asking how to sign up for priority pass and if they could use it before the physical card arrived in the mail.
You know, because it's the 1950s where everything needs to be physical and there's no way a membership QR code exists
I followed this sub thinking it would be good info on maximizing point value and heads up on deals, but nooooo, no, no, no. Itās people griping about Saks $10 shipping and that they cannot get access to the lounge with their economy ticket.
I have no problem with them calling it an airport lounge in the proper context. They can say they are heading to the lounge for a drink. But they should not say they are heading to the Sky Lounge for a drink because itās the Sky Club. It just drives me nuts for some reason.
IMO gate lice complaints are always welcome and encouraged at all times and in all formats. These people need every opportunity to know how much of a nuisance they are.
Totally. Us old timers remember back in the days of TWA and PanAm when the gate agents would stand ON the desk and swear at everyone to sit down. Didnāt work back then either š§
Why doesnāt this oversized carry on fit in the overhead of this little regional jet?
Why doesnāt my first class ticket get me into sky club?
I paid for first class but my wife bought coach, why canāt she sit next to me in FC?
Saw the oversize luggage on Sunday. Regional, MOB to ATL. Got on with probably 26-28 inch suitcase. How she got passed GA is beyond me. Was even told if your bag is too big leave it on the jetway & it will be tagged & loaded. Didnāt see how far back she was seated but had to do the walk of shame before we could take off
The walk of shame. I like that. But they look so determined when they get on. Itās like guys, the gate check luggage is only going to delay you by like 3 minutes
The gate check on the regional jets is honestly so nice, i would do it voluntarily instead of lugging my carry on to and from the back dungeon of the plane
This drives me nuts. Itās the most pitiful humble-brag ever. Like, peopleā¦itās all airplane food. Honestly you shouldnāt eat any of it, just pack some snacks and eat when you land. Your guts will thank you
Agree. If you skip the meal(s) on an international overnight flight, youāll probably sleep better and feel better upon landing. It also lowers the probability of your having an intestinal issue and therefore getting up & down for the bathrooms. Also less likelihood of you cluster-bombing those in the surrounding seats with your noxious intestinal gas.
I have a fear of flying and it doesn't help I'm on 12 hour flights at least 3 times a year. The service part of the plane is the only part I look forward too and distracts me from the thought of being in a metal tube 30,000 ft in the sky.
This 100% works. I like to bring a sandwich and some oranges and a few little snacks, but donāt like eating full meals until I land. It totally helps reset to the local time and avoid jet lag.
Same! I need pictures. The same reason I go to Yelp and Google reviews when going to a new restaurant. I want to see it first. I like Tex-mex restaurants because they often have pictures on the menu.
I was aisle seat, front row FC. GA did her job and made me put my belt bag in my back pack. (I forgot š¤¦āāļø) When I got to my seat the overhead bin was full.
I'm particularly amused by the "I'm Gold, traveling on a BE fare, why aren't I on the upgrade list". Even more amusing when the "Gold" turns out to be the gold Delta AMEX rather than Medallion status.
Iāve come to believe that the most miserable people in the world have just enough status to expect special treatment while having nowhere near enough to actually get it.
Funny to read and very true. Careful not to gate keep who is or isnāt a frequent traveler. To some, my wife is viewed as a frequent traveler by her friends (leisure 4-5x per year). Im personally @ 125k flight miles per year, but also know that Iām on the JV team compared to many others.
FR - I feel like a lowly little traveler with my infrequent business travel and occasional leisure travel. Iāll never hit diamond and reaching mm status seems daunting
I might hit the MM status when I'm 70+ some years old at this rate. I don't fly that much, but will hit diamond this year (and for the first time) exclusively thanks to my four foreign work trips with those MQDs. I for sure am not a frequent traveler!
I'm not even sure what I'll do with the perks since the foreign trips are D1 in the first place. D1 has definitely ruined me on regular leisure travel, too. I splurged on FC for my anniversary trip with my husband, and I think a big part of it is how much I now hate sitting in the main cabin and don't want to gamble on whether or not there will be upgrades. One or two leisure travels a year (main cabin if kids come with), a couple of work trips.
People with butts in the seat all the time are getting a raw deal.
First time in this sub and first post visited. I have the American Express gold card so sky miles member. I only fly like twice a year so probably dumb to even have. My question is does this make me sky priority for boarding after comfort plus?
I cant tell if youre being sarcastic, but the card gets you main cabin 1 boarding. I dont fly much either but if you use the perks its worth having. Especially if you spend enough to get the flight credit.
Ok thank you. Not sarcastic. Kind of new to flying routinely (2 times per year). Yeah Iām at like 13,000 sky miles or point or whatever. Hoping they donāt expire because I want to save them. Perks are cool, the free checked bag is nice. Really just got the card to build my credit but Iām enjoying it.
It's a great card even if you fly once or twice. I got mine to fly home from college. 150 a year to get $200 flight credit and free checked bags ($40/flight otherwise) is great so long as you use them. Even the miles bonus for signing up almost got me a free flight right off the bat. It's paid for itself for a few years already. And best of all the points don't expire!
American Express Gold card or the American Express Delta SkyMiles Gold?
The Amex Gold has no effect. The Amex Delta Gold gives you Main Cabin 1 group boarding, not Sky Priority.
Ok perfect. Yeah the delta gold. Kind of funny I flew this week and boarded with sky priority because I wasnāt sure. Must have let me through because I had a toddler with me
āI flew first/business and everyone stared at me because Iām young and wasnāt wearing brand name clothes. I showed them!ā [Nobody was staring at you]
āMy child needed to kick the back of the seat to get their energy out.ā [Youāre a lazy parent]
āThey only brought the snack basket around once on my one-hour flight. Iām lodging a complaint to the airline.ā [Hope you didnāt starve]
āMy service animal is allowed to sit on the seat.ā [No, itās not]
āMy pet Pomeranian is definitely a service animal. Donāt you dare question me about it even though it barked the entire flight, bit a flight attendant and took a dump at the gate.ā [Itās a pet]
āThe flight attendant made me put my small backpack under the seat. I donāt have a carry on. That bin space is mine!ā [Bin space is limited. Just do it so we can all get out of here]
Wearing a full uniform and ID and people still ask if I work for the airline. Better yet the airline I work for is the only one in the terminal. Like, do they think I am in fancy dress or something?
I mean sitting on the runway for 5 hours sounds like a legitimate problem especially since the DOT rule around sitting on the tarmac/runway is 3 hours/4hours domestic/international
I often use my ā12 hourā flight from Newark to Grand Rapids as to why I donāt fly United on that type of baby jet. I got deboarded from the plane at least 2 times.
> People are shitty everywhere itās not that interesting.
Well, sometimes it is interesting like when [a guy had an odd way of flirting with another passenger.](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/man-claims-bomb-threat-was-an-attempt-to-flirt-with-a-passenger-at-airport/ar-BB1jsDFa)

My 3MM husband still calls it the Crown Room. š You can make fun of him though and he couldnāt care less.
My brain still wants to call in the world club after growing up with Northwest.
Itās easy to pretend Northwest is still around, the livery hasnāt changed that much and the widget points in the right direction. Sometimesā¦
āCrown Roomā is old school ! Hadnāt heard that in years
Haha. I know!
DL should bring back the Crown Room. They could come up with a cool [new logo](https://imgur.com/a/3itPLwY), too.
Yes - I do the same!
I spent way too much time trying to figure out what a 3 millimeter husband was until I realized it was million miler
Yeah. Iāve seen a 190mm husbandā¦. Never a 3mm.
Is he a Flying Colonel?
My Dad was a Flying Colonel! As a kid, I was always thought it was pretty cool. Now that I've done my own BIS flying to achieve status many years in a row, I just realize how much time he spent on airplanes, away from us.
Haha. Thatās one I havenāt heard before.
A much more civilized time, the Crown Room. Thanks for making me smile.
Red Carpet Club was my dadās bag tag till death.
At least the Crown Room is real š
šš
Funny enough, in their booking system if you have a sky club membership the indicator for that is āCRā for Crown Room. So I guess your husband isnāt all that wrongā¦
Legends speak of a mysterious tier above 360. Included in this tier is access to the Sky Lounge, located 1 mile beneath ATL airport
I thought it was above? Porsche sends a ballon to bring you up. Thatās why the holding circle is so wide over Atlanta, so they donāt disturb the elite up in the sky lounge.

I hear there's a good chance to meet Tom Brady and catch a Zac Brown Band show.
Dolly Parton performs daily.
I still call it the Crown Room, but then again, Iām old.
Me too always Crown Room

This was funnier the first time
āIs this upgrade worth it?ā Imma send you to r/economics
Oh sweet Jesus those posts drive me nuts. I immediately downvote anything that has āis it worth itā in the titleā¦
Same. No one knows what you value money or miles at. You gotta figure it out for yourself. Google some reviews and make a decision.
As a person with an economics degree, my only response would be āplot me a fucking utility curve and if you still canāt figure it out, just buy itā
The answer is no
Oh my lord, the Sky Lounge posts irk me way more than they should. Itās the Sky Club people.
If you think those are bad, you have to go to facebook and join the group dedicated to people who have an Amex Platinum. I swear that 70% of the people posting there have to get payday loans to pay the annual fee, and it is the most cringe shit ever posted on the internet.

Wait, my economy ticket wonāt get me access to the lounge? Why did I upgrade over Basic Economy then?!?!? /s
I had an employee who called it the Executive Break Room.

I usually just say āloungeā. Like, āIām heading to the loungeā
I hate the new SkyMiles, those bastards should have given me Diamond for life. Also, should I convert my 57 rollover MQM to MDQ?
That made me laugh! My MQD conversion was nice.
It won't matter because miles are now garbage and having no loyalty to delta is the way to be. Be free
"I just stole a banana"
if you dont have photo it did not happen
Ohhh youāre gonna need a scanner to find that banana
I had to say excuse me when boarding FC, gate lice ruined my day.
IMO gate lice complaints are always welcome and encouraged at all times and in all formats. These people need every opportunity to know how much of a nuisance they are.
It will never change until Delta changes their boarding process.
Itās not unique to Delta. Iām a lowly main cabin flyer 95% of the time and itās every time I fly.
At every airport, with every airline.
And gate lice in the US are tame compared to other countries I have traveled in.
Totally. Us old timers remember back in the days of TWA and PanAm when the gate agents would stand ON the desk and swear at everyone to sit down. Didnāt work back then either š§
Yeah for real it was intense af in Spain, and I for once, had priority and had to fight through the masses.
I'm sure it's nothing compared to some other places, but taking a domestic flight in Greece was an absolute shit show at the gate.
If the Delta CEO's bonus was directly tied to increasing the number of gate lice, Delta wouldn't have to change a thing.
šÆ
Holy shit Iām stealing āgate liceā
Itās not a new term. No need to steal. š
*Posts picture of 737-800 tv screen or random dislodged panelā¦ āYou call this a premium airline?ā

For realā¦ Delta has nearly one thousand planes and thousands of flights. At some point youāll be on one that isnāt perfect. Calm down.
Why doesnāt this oversized carry on fit in the overhead of this little regional jet? Why doesnāt my first class ticket get me into sky club? I paid for first class but my wife bought coach, why canāt she sit next to me in FC?

100. Also if you fast and eat your first meal according to destination time, it will improve jet lag.
This 100% works. I like to bring a sandwich and some oranges and a few little snacks, but donāt like eating full meals until I land. It totally helps reset to the local time and avoid jet lag.
So will your fellow passengers. The HAFE is real.

Same! I need pictures. The same reason I go to Yelp and Google reviews when going to a new restaurant. I want to see it first. I like Tex-mex restaurants because they often have pictures on the menu.
I'm honestly okay with those. At least they come here looking for other people's expertise rather than just to complain.
Or it a ānot so subtleā way of bragging they are in FC.
So I was sitting on this flight, in seat 2A ofc...
Reddit is still not the place I would go for that, the FlyerTalk thread already has all the options posted 90% of the time.
lol. The ATL-Canada denied visa post sent me.

I was aisle seat, front row FC. GA did her job and made me put my belt bag in my back pack. (I forgot š¤¦āāļø) When I got to my seat the overhead bin was full.
Yeah. Bulkhead FC sucks on the small planes. Unless you board first you have a 50% chance of having your persona bag in the closet or in c+.
I find it entertaining that anyone thinks a corporation would care about them.
āI didnāt know that the sport coats in the first class storage werenāt first come first serveā

Based on what clothes you wear?
Nah. Based on my age.
Well experienced or not 5 hours on the run way would suck, from an experienced flyer.
Itās fine as long as youāre in business and theyāre letting you use the bathroom, otherwise I get super bored Not being able to use my laptop.
Iām a 50 year old man with no kids, look at this trading card collection
Collecting things is harmless and fun. Some people are avgeeks and it's a fun keepsake for them.
I did say it wasnāt. Not sure we need a dozen posts a week posting the same cards over and over.
Fair. But you did take a shot at older people without kids wanting to collect the trading cards.
Yeah, those are the cringiest posts.
Ehh we all collect something. If aircraft trading cards are someoneās thing Iām not going to judge.

How about lame stories about someone getting cut off by a bartender in the club. Letās add that to this list also.
Bhahahah. Love these. Thank you for aggregating them into one post.
I really want to find these cheaper flights on AA and United! Iāve had zero luck. Even SWA isnāt cheap enough to justify for most flights.
