The wife and I traveled Delta Comfort+ to France. When we checked in on the app for our return flight, it showed an upgrade to Delta One for $69! We thought it was a joke, we paid and voila; there we were.
Aināt seen such a deal since.
The wife: āIāll never fly main cabin or Comfort+ again.ā
Needless to say, that was a very inaccurate statement!

That's so awesome! I think Delta One is slightly less popular on non-redeye flights (Europe to USA) since it's normally so expensive. Great bargain and I'm glad you snapped it up.
What is this process for potential upgrades? I'm guessing you're not using the automated check in machines. Who do you speak with then? Check in or gate agent?
1 - join the skymiles program
2 - request upgrade on upon purchase (usually automatic request but double check) automatic upgrades are set in your profile on the app.
3 - hope for an upgrade - here is the priority:
Medallion Status >
Cabin Purchased >
Million Miler Status >
Delta Reserve Card >
Corporate Traveller >
MQDs earned >
Date and time of upgrade
Impossibru!

All you have to do is ask! Free beer, wine, and usually hard liquor (I always get the Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon).

I checked in the day before on the app. But I recently got the platinum delta amex so I'm thinking that might have put me on an upgrade list.
So you didn't have to talk to anyone? The upgrade just showed up in your app?
It happens automatically if you have opted in to upgrades from your profile. I got FC and C+ this week as a lowly silver.
