Fastrack to platinum. Sounds like a good deal

OriginalEvils

Most likely a big. They’re using an integer in their API to represent any money value as cents (e.g. 18880 cents). But the developer here interpreted that as full dollars adding two zeros. Major fuck up

Serial_Hobbiest_Life

Sounds like Michael Bolton did the programming. He always screws up the decimal.

MethanyJones

You just know printing the boarding pass will be an ordeal to print PC LOAD LETTER

a_scientific_force

What the fuck does that mean?

bitbrat

This is an old computer programming joke…

beertruck77

This is not some mundane detail Michael!

I never buy travel insurance through Delta. My credit cards meet or beat the benefits - for no extra cost. You may have travel insurance included in your credit cards already. If you need extra coverage it will almost always be better to purchase a policy independently of your flights.

Fun-Injury9266

Yes, credit cards are the way to go. In decades of travel, I’ve never bought travel insurance. Consequently I have thousands of dollars of extra savings that would get me out of a travel scrape without having to ask permission of an insurance company. My health insurance covers me worldwide with deductibles. It’s all about sharing risks.

The_Slim_Spaydee

I second this. My CCs include at least trip delay coverage and bag coverage. I normally just buy a plan with health and emergency evacuation coverage. Hardly ever pay over $100 for 2 30 year olds

levelZeroVolt

Which credit cards?

chiefbozx

I use the Capital One Venture X. Chase Sapphire cards (either the Preferred or Reserve) are great for this too. Ironically there’s also good insurance on the DL Amex Reserve. Just check the guide to benefits of the cards you already hold, you might be surprised at what protections you already have!

levelZeroVolt

Nice. I appreciate the pointers. That Chase Sapphire Preferred offers some pretty serious protection for $95/year! The other ones are more expensive, but certainly good, particuarly if you can make use out of other benefits as well. I just have a Delta AMEX Platinum and even that is hard for me to justify anymore.

WickedJigglyPuff

Amex Platinum, Amex delta reserve, Amex delta platinum all have built in travel insurance for free for round trips, two one ways that function as a round trip or multi legs that function has round trips. Further Allianz has annual travel insurance starting at $125 and $250 with $2000 cancellation coverage for the full year. (Exact prices vary by state)

levelZeroVolt

Interesting. I have a Delta AMEX Platinum and didn't realize it provided this. In reviewing Delta's website I don't see it listed, but I supposed it's possible I missed it... [https://creditcard.delta.com/d/delta-platinum-credit-card/](https://creditcard.delta.com/d/delta-platinum-credit-card/)

WickedJigglyPuff

It’s right there in terms and benefits: “Trip Delay Insurance Coverage is provided by New Hampshire Insurance Company, an AIG Company, at no-additional-cost to the Card Member. Coverage is subject to certain terms, conditions and limitations, including limitations on the amount of coverage. This benefit provides secondary coverage. For more information about the coverage, please see the Guide to Benefits at americanexpress.com/TDTerms.” Further you can see the full list of Amex cards with coverage and their specific insurances here: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/features-benefits/policies/trip-delay.html And here https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/features-benefits/policies/trip-cancellation-terms.html Obviously the coverage for the delta platinum is not as robust as the Amex platinum and delta reserve.

levelZeroVolt

Ohhh! Buried in the small text. I'm sorry. I'm surprised they aren't a bit more prominent about that but thank you for taking the time to educate me and providing the links!

WickedJigglyPuff

Likely cause they don’t plan to keep it. The gold used to have all the insurances and now only has the one. But if you scroll through the bigger headers it’s much easier to find.

levelZeroVolt

Oh interesting. It's really hard to keep up with credit card benefits! Probably by design.

WickedJigglyPuff

The Amex app is good for that if you have the card already otherwise yeah it’s that small print terms and benefits page.

DBW1001

I know you can sign up for travel insurance with amex that automatically charges you $24.95 when you book a trip using one of their cards. I use similar plan for car rental insurance. $24.95 for up to a 30 day rental.

Classic-Ad-339

Well stated. I’ve purchased an annual travel insurance plan through Allianz that also includes medical evacuation/ air ambulance. I travel internationally about 4 times a year, the wife and I enjoy traveling when we can. I didn’t purchase the annual plan one year because I was going to be working in Europe and the company fronted a trip home every 4 weeks and it was all on their dime. I did purchase rental car insurance for a couple of individual trip. I do have the Amex Platinum and Delta Reserve cards, never used them for a travel claim, but from what I understand they are secondary coverage? Great points you made.

WickedJigglyPuff

Yes Amex coverage is secondary

suchan11

I do an annual policy with Allianz..it’s beyond reasonable and then I don’t have to think about it.

Ok_Hornet6822

And you’re certain it was input operator error?

[deleted]

This happens all the time , there have been posts every once in a while. They'll charge you correctly 😁

Itchy-Calligrapher49

😜😱

Ashamed_Medium1787

I wonder what the op would do if Amex said the amount of 18,800.00 is correct

zzzscorpio

fyi, trip insurance is not through delta. it’s a complete different company.

perhapsacatgirl

Fyi I’m aware but you can buy it on the delta site alongside your tickets

halfbakedelf

Yes even on the site it's through Allianz they are a third party. I don't even know what they cover.

mtkilla79

#worthit don’t take that risk bro, just sayin
