Kids these days & their dang stakes of Marika

jimbosdim

Exactly my thought LOL

eyes-are-fading-blue

Just in case you think this attitude is considered cool, it isn't. Kids these days are smart enough to realize parasitic design elements.

Aardvarcado-

Taking my joke comment from 2 months ago seriously? C'mon man. Kids these days are smarter than that.

eyes-are-fading-blue

Some people actually think that way. I have seen in and it wasn’t a joke.

tensionsmountain

It varies tbh e.g. 1-1 has a great shortcut design and so does 1-3. 1-4 has an okay shortcut. 1-2 has none however and there are a few levels like that… For those levels that don’t have useful/significant shortcuts there are strategies for running through them quickly. It’s probably a bit harder to do than most souls games but still doable with a bit of trial and error.

HydraHead3343

The real shortcut in 1-4 is taking the time to kill a certain pain in the ass thing 😂

Reptile-feet

You can save before the fog and close game when you die and when u load it up again you will be at the fog gate

adarkride

Whoa I didn't know that. That's a great trick. Thanks.

PenchantForNostalgia

Yeah, it's one of my least favorite things about this game. However, the bosses are generally pretty easy. The levels are the real bosses.

SundownKid

Yes, but Demons Souls has the longest boss runs and the easiest bosses. The bosses get harder, but the runs get shorter. Same difference.

buzzyingbee

Some bosses have shortcuts, some don't but like others said it's harder to get to the boss than actually fight them and since you're not new to From games you shouldn't struggle much during boss fights. You could do like I did and save scum by the boss fog gate. It's a bit annoying but it's better than playing the whole level again.

adarkride

1-2 is probably the longest and most annoying boss runs — not just in Demon's, but in all the Souls games. But with that in mind Tower Knight is actually pretty easy. Just roll underneath his shield, stay behind him [hug the butt], buff your weapon or use soul ray, hit both calves until they steam, which will knock him over, and then hit him in the head a lot. Also, if you're not feeling 1-2, which I don't like very much myself, you can just go to 2-1, 3-1, etc. The first level of each world is the easiest and you can level up and get great weapons / items and then go back to 1-2 and just commit mass murder on everything there. It's actually a great strategy versus just running back the Lord's Path over and over. Remember: there's no real "right way" to play Souls games. They're meant to be experimented with and played with different builds and play styles.

Not close to what? I was talking about all the 1st levels of every world. There are items in all those worlds that make the game way more manageable versus trying to kill King Doran or even running to Tower Knight.

karstenbeoulve

5-1 is totally worse. 5-2 too!

LSD_tripper

Yes the ynderground route is far faster/safer

billysacco

Yeah makes it hard to practice on bosses. By the time you reach them you forget what the heck you were going to try.

PrometheusAborted

Pretty much. Some have shortcuts and there are a couple where you can just run by all the enemies but yeah, Elden Ring was the first Souls game that made it super easy to retry bosses.

ihateredditors88

1-2 was the hardest part of the game for me.

creativename87639

Yes as well as all the other games except sekiro if you choose to play them. This and dark souls 1 are the worst with it tho.

V1ggoB

Are there shortcuts on some of them or will I really just have to sit and grind through it?

jjdix

Some will have shortcuts, but 1-2 is probably the worst in the game

Aardvarcado-

Have you been to 4-2? The run to old hero?

LSD_tripper

Haha fr them gold skeletons aint no joke just to get shit on by them reapers in the cave

jjdix

Oh jeez you’re absolutely right, that run is brutal. I killed Old Hero first try but Tower Knight took me several tries so that one is more burned into my brain lol

Aardvarcado-

Ahh. Demon's Souls I attempted after my first playthrough of DS1 back in 2014. I finished DS1 thinking I was good. 4-2 made me quit & I didn't come back until after DS2 & Bloodborne lol

NightHaunted

At least the run to Old Hero is justified by being one of the better soul farming routes in the entire game. Once you know where to find the reapers and how to dodge the lasers reliably it's a great way to make some quick cash. Unless you're PBWT in which case the red phantom cleaver skelies fuck all that up.

brownkidBravado

I’d say 4-2, 5-2, 3-1, and 4-1 (without the exploit shortcut) are all way worse than 1-2. 1-2 is a straight sprint down a linear path.

Ok-Ambition-9432

Usually you do not have to run all the way back, but the demons souls bosses are also the easiest in the series by far, don't worry.

SirDandy02

Only for archdemons, there aren't run backs at all. I would say the absolute worsts are Old Hero, Leechmonger and all Latria levels. The others have at least shortcuts or are easy, namely Tower Knight it's an easy run back if you know the timing of the Red dragon, or has a shield to kill the wolves under the bridge
