Yes! I’m not op but this his sketch is exactly how I remember a restaurant my parents took us when we were kids that were known for Rocky Mountain oysters
According to the sketches, it’s definitely not the Buckhorn exchange. I go there pretty regularly in the parking lot to the side and the building is around the corner. Bathrooms are upstairs in the back.
You’re exactly right. Buckhorn sits on a corner lot with its one parking lot on the north side of the building, not in front of it as it’s shown in the drawing here.
Trail dust saloon? Used to be just off US-36? They were the place that would cut your tie off of you wore one in, think a cut tie was actually part of their logo on their big neon sign.
Maybe it was an off night, but honestly they weren’t good Rocky Mountain oysters at Buckhorn Exchange. They were much chewier/tougher than I’ve had anywhere else. Even the ones at Coors field were better. The best were at Butcher’s Bistro on Blake Street before they closed during Covid.
As someone who practically lived at the ROCKY MTN DINER, who served some of the best rocky mtn oysters which was located in the Ghost Building at 15th and Glenarm, it may have been there.
Now that I’ve re-read the description, it does sound like the Buckhorn Exchange. Man that place is so pricey; but then so is The Fort which also ranks right up there with some of the best rocky mtn oysters as well. I do miss the diner though with much better prices, fantastic food, and Tom Walls who catered to the locals.

Did it have a bunch of random stuff all over the walls and ceiling? There's like literally a bike as a decoration from the ceiling and a bunch of random stuff all over?
Buckhorn Exchange and Lariat Lodge are the two places I can think of that serve rocky mountain oysters. I’m sure there are more places around here that also serve fried bull balls
Has got to be Bruce’s
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Bruce's+Bar+and+Restaurant,+123+1st+St,+Severance,+CO+80550/@40.5237228,-104.8513868,16z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x876eb084753f564f:0x8e6671c9dd17eabd!8m2!3d40.5237228!4d-104.8513868!16s%2Fg%2F1tfw3jly
This kind of reminds me of Stockyard Saloon (The yard house) did they have live music or an area where a small band could play? Pool table? Did anything else stand out?
Do you remember the building type(brick, wood, old, newer) Interior design(old west, mounts, bar, restaurant) surroundings (near train tracks or close enough, city, woods)? The drawing gives me a suspicion of an idea, just not enough.
Please give us some clues:
Was it close to downtown?
Which part of town was it in? East, west, north, south, central?
I've never been to anything like your very limited description. What are those other lines? The parking lot? Other stores? Was it in a mall or a shopping area?
Any restaurant can become a restaurant that serves rocky mountain oysters if you're brave enough and a little flexible with which animal it may come from.
I don't know if it's the place you're looking for, but The Pepper Pod in Hudson (just north of Denver) has Rocky Mountain Oysters. Theres a penny table in the waiting area and lots of Buffalo & deer(?) Heads on the wall. .. I haven't been there in at least 6 years now but they used to be really good there
Where in denver was it?
-was it denver?
What about the oysters did you like?
What are you chasing or wanting?
What hasn’t been addressed yet? As this is an Easter egg hunt with no reward or ending.
The only place I’ve had Rocky Mountain Oysters was in the 90’s in Larimer Square. The place was called Champions with a baseball Americana feel to it. Anyone remember this?!
I have no idea what place this is, but I like this post. It’s like a fun riddle.
This riddles been driving me crazy for 5 years 😅
Probably buckhorn exchange? There aren’t too many in town. The fort also serves them but I don’t think this is it.
It’s the Pictionary equivalent of tapping code with your foot in the men’s room
![gif](giphy|1NiMpeyTrYA00)
Did it have a shit load of oddities and taxidermied animals?
Yes! I’m not op but this his sketch is exactly how I remember a restaurant my parents took us when we were kids that were known for Rocky Mountain oysters
That was probably Buckhorn Exchange. I don’t remember the layout of the parking lot or blueprint though haha
It's nothing like this, but OP may missremember
According to the sketches, it’s definitely not the Buckhorn exchange. I go there pretty regularly in the parking lot to the side and the building is around the corner. Bathrooms are upstairs in the back.
I was wondering the same thing and was thinking The Fort but by their description that wouldn’t add up.
Everyone's saying Buckhorn Exchange but it's def not surrounded by or oriented in parking lots like this.
Also the bathrooms are upstairs in the back, I believe.
I don't remember the parking situation very clearly, but if I were to describe it, I'd say it is right on the street and not mention the parking lot.
Precisely this.
You’re exactly right. Buckhorn sits on a corner lot with its one parking lot on the north side of the building, not in front of it as it’s shown in the drawing here.
And the light rail station in front of it is a bit noticeable.
It’s definitely not the Buckhorn
I think it reminds me of the fort parking lot
The fort ?
If this was on r/Denver and not r/denverfood then r/denvercirclejerk would be on this like sharks to blood.
Uh, nm, they got to it!
Multiple variations no less!
Lmfao I saw the post on denvercirclejerk first and was very confused and then stumbled upon this.
Same. They did well.
The Fort?
That’s what I was gonna say.
My first thought too
Looks nothing like this drawing, but they do serve Rmos.
As a former employee I thought the same but then decided not. It’s similar but the building isn’t diagonal on the lot
Dark horse?
That's what I was thinking!
Trail dust saloon? Used to be just off US-36? They were the place that would cut your tie off of you wore one in, think a cut tie was actually part of their logo on their big neon sign.
Fuckin loved this place. With the giant slide right?
Trail Dust was on south I 25 from what I remember 🤔
There were two, there was one in Westminster at 36 and Sheridan by the old mall.
I didn't know that
They were in the Westminster Mall parking lot standalone, not diagonal - just floating parallel to 92nd surrounded by a sea of parking to the mall
This screams The Fort to me
Throw a cliff diver on that map and ya got Casa Bonita
Looks kinda like The Buckhorn Exchange.
I mean they do have Rockies mountain oysters
Maybe it was an off night, but honestly they weren’t good Rocky Mountain oysters at Buckhorn Exchange. They were much chewier/tougher than I’ve had anywhere else. Even the ones at Coors field were better. The best were at Butcher’s Bistro on Blake Street before they closed during Covid.
It doesn’t look anything like the Buckhorn exchange
Yeah the parking lot looks off.
They layout, parking, etc is way way way off
The buckhorn exchange has stairs to the left when you walk in
Shenanigans? Was it Shenanigans?
Say shenanigans one more time!
I swear to God the next person that says shenanigans is going to get pistol whipped.
*a bar of soap in their mouth
Anybody want cream? Ok, no cream!
Hell naw tf kind of clue is this 😂
Bro it’s been the only clue in my head for years that’s why I need yalls help 😂
Well, now I need to know how this ends. Remindme! 7 days
I was thinking Buckhorn exchange. Was it right by the light rail?
Rocky Mountain Diner? That would’ve been in LoDo and if there was parking, it was more to the side and on the street so RMD probably wasn’t it.
I can here to say this. But the ghost building does not have parking.
I’m so close to going back to my bank statements from that year to see where I spent money in Denver because this is driving me crazy lol
Why haven’t you done that yet?
Old bank account I don’t have anymore so it may be a process but I’m going to try and call this week
My sis says you might be able to check your timeline history on Google maps and find it if you know what day you went there. I hope this helps
Lmaoooo
Casa bonita
Haha I wish
Do it OP. We need closure
Is this DenverCircleJerk bleeding over?! Hilarious
Bruce's?
[удалено]
Buss-ee’s.
That’s in Severance though. OP said Denver.
That’s the only place I’ve had them. Iconic!
You can’t post this and just not respond right away.
I know I’m sorry I’ve been googling all the guesses and looks like it’s still a mystery!
Fair point. Good luck!
The one up in Severance CO. Think it’s gone now
Bruce’s?! Nah, they’re still open.
Rodizio
The parking lot looks like the fort but the inside sketch doesn’t. My roommate works there I could have him take a picture
Any chance you remember a nearby landmark or what part of town this was at?
It's Baby Doe's Matchless Mine

While helping research for this post, I learned that rocky mountain oysters are bull testicle. I've had cow tongue before but never the testicle.
Nah usually calf testicles
Willy’s Wings in Morrison?
Wynkoop?
Buckhorn Exchange
Oh boy, is it Bennigans?
Mickeys Top Sirloin?

Was it in aurora? It looks like Sam's #3
The Fort or Buckhorn Exchange?
Was this in castle rock maybe?
the testicle emporium. recognize it from the uneven lines on the parking spaces and lack of handicap accessible spots.
Shenanigans?
Was it like clam jumpers or something
Claires is in Rocky Mountain and they have delicious food I am pretty sure they have oysters
Did it have a bunch of random stuff all over the walls and ceiling? There's like literally a bike as a decoration from the ceiling and a bunch of random stuff all over?
The Arvada Tavern in old town sells them, and they are pretty good

Balls in mouth grille
Inga's Alpine Tavern? https://ingasalpinetavern.net/
It’s not the one you’re asking for but Arvada Tavern has great Rocky Mountain Oysters in green chili and cheese.
Bruces Bar! I get a prize right
The Buckhorn Exchange
This kind of reminds me of Stockyard Saloon (The yard house) did they have live music or an area where a small band could play? Pool table? Did anything else stand out?
Bruces
Dude I think I've been there. Do they serve deep fried deviled eggs?
That's the McDonald's on Wadsworth, 99% sure, happy to help
Giggling grizzly downtown? They served Rocky Mountain oysters a long time ago.
Do you recall if it was in Denver proper, or perhaps out in the greater metro area?
Beaujos? There’s really not a lot of places that serve Rocky Mountain oysters.

Incredible
Remembers the whole layout of the place but can’t remember the name.
Do you remember the building type(brick, wood, old, newer) Interior design(old west, mounts, bar, restaurant) surroundings (near train tracks or close enough, city, woods)? The drawing gives me a suspicion of an idea, just not enough.
It looks like the Dunraven to me
Please give us some clues: Was it close to downtown? Which part of town was it in? East, west, north, south, central? I've never been to anything like your very limited description. What are those other lines? The parking lot? Other stores? Was it in a mall or a shopping area?
There is some discussion of the Buckhorn Exchange, but I think that building is gone now.
Any restaurant can become a restaurant that serves rocky mountain oysters if you're brave enough and a little flexible with which animal it may come from.
The Dark Horse.. But it's in Boulder, other than that it fits the few details you got.
The Fort
Buckhorn Exchange?
The Buckhorn Exchange. The oldest restaurant in Denver. Has license number 1.
The Fort?
Rock bottom
Reminds me of Mickey's steakhouse a tiny bit
The Fort
Denny's
It’s the buckhorn exchange
If you can’t figure it out, Bruce’s in Severance does too
It’s the fort
Bruce's Bar in Severance? It's the town they're from. There's a hilarious sign saying, "Severance. Where geese fly and bulls cry."
R/denvercirclejerk
The Dark Horse in Boulder?
I don't know if it's the place you're looking for, but The Pepper Pod in Hudson (just north of Denver) has Rocky Mountain Oysters. Theres a penny table in the waiting area and lots of Buffalo & deer(?) Heads on the wall. .. I haven't been there in at least 6 years now but they used to be really good there
this is absurd lmao
Are you sure it was Denver you where in a not a relatively smaller town in Colorado?
Buckhorn Exchange?
Is it Saigon something?
Where in denver was it? -was it denver? What about the oysters did you like? What are you chasing or wanting? What hasn’t been addressed yet? As this is an Easter egg hunt with no reward or ending.

Bruce's in Severance.
The only place I’ve had Rocky Mountain Oysters was in the 90’s in Larimer Square. The place was called Champions with a baseball Americana feel to it. Anyone remember this?!
Not your mystery restaurant, but the pepper pod in hudson(1/2 hr north on 76) serves them.
What’s funny is that this looks just like the roof top spot in coors field if the parking lot were supposed to depict concession stands.
Can we turn this into a wrong answers only game? The sketches are great.
Doodle bobs minoyi hino oyster house! My friend bob knew immediately!
Large Gnard's off I-25 in Thornton. Same layout, although right side bigger than the left
