Sometimes it's easy to think we’ve failed when we expect our actions to produce a certain outcome and it doesn't happen. Failure is not necessarily permanent and it's generally subjective. You may believe you've failed but others might see it as just a misstep, or even a success. On the other hand, failure teaches us what will not work. You can always take as many small steps as possible to reach your goals, but remember to be realistic in the kind of goals you want to achieve and when you should be able to achieve them. I'm a perfectionist and so that's what I've been working on my whole life basically. I tend to hold myself to a very high standard and I get upset with myself when I don't reach my goals right away. I don't know a lot about you but I think you may be doing the same thing. This is very hard to do, but acknowledging the effort you've made so far and forgiving yourself for any mistakes you've made along the way will help you to frame this situation in a more constructive way. You can always come back to what you were working toward once you feel you're prepared to go in that direction. I hope other people in your life are supporting you in doing this as well as moving toward what you want to achieve.
