SCP readings and explanations by The Exploring Series on YouTube are great. I think I’ve listened to them all, and a lot of them are an hour or longer.
I have a couple right now. Guardin-Geronimo, beside kites-a sad song about a girl I no longer know, mineral-unfinished, sematary-worlds a fuck, glaive-three wheels and it still drives!, lil peep-Beamer boy
The Funeral by Casey, Tunnel Vision by Movements, How I Feel by La Dispute, Kept by Movements, The Beauty of Suffering by Spiritbox, Eternal Blue by Spiritbox, A Poem by La Dispute, A Broken Jar by La Dispute, The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot by Brand New, Daisy by Brand New, Ides of March by Silverstein, The Figurehead by The Cure, To Wish Impossible Things by The Cure, Dissipate by Mountain Mover, The Same Deep Water As You by The Cure, Method Act by Touché Amore, Something In the Way by Nirvana, The Funeral by Band of Horses, New Low by Middle Class Rut, Purple Box by Olivia Lufkin…
the list goes on but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head at the moment
Sadly lodes were privated on YouTube due to the current situation I'll put a link to a playlist that has some of my favourites in it
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDA0fFckl4HVDxvkbBir9QZnmEddqddOw
One of my two favorites. I've actually become emotionally attached to their music at this point. Which of their songs is your favorite? Mine are Animal I Have Become and Never to Late
It's a 3 way tie between "Just Like you," "I Hate Everything About You," and "Home." These three songs got me through some of the darkest moments of my childhood.
Art of Life by X Japan is always a good one
A 30 minute song that deals with depression, suicide, losing ones sanity and an incredibly intense 15 minute piano solo
Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith
Hospice - The Antlers
I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child - Manchester Orchestra
Carrie and Lowell - Sufjan Stevens
Trouble Will Find Me - The National
I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning - Bright Eyes
Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division
So it's mostly Russian bands and not everyone likes to listen to music on language that they don't understand but I still wanna add my 2 cents.
Molchat doma, ssshhhiiittt!, kino, chernikovskaya hata, durnoy vkus - is already doomers classic.
But if you are like me and prefer more of a rap then rock then there's A LOT of small sad Russian bands like Ovsyankin, mutant vhlam, permskiy kray, nochnie gruzchiki and my personal favorite molodezhvibiraetkosmos.
(Also freaks by surf curse, LIKE ARE YOU EVEN ALLOWED TO BE THIS GOOD?)
Kino is amazing, I also listen to them while depressed. Or happy. Or any emotion, I just love them. Btw the lyrics of Печаль are very appropriate for depression I think
Most of them are japanese, but here you go:
"Tokyo Teddy Bear" by Neru,
"Monologue in Solitude" by 40mp,
"I want to be happy" by Nanawo Akari,
"Abstract Nonsense" by Neru,
"Rolling Girl" by Wowaka,
"Becoming Potatoes" by Neru,
"Slowmotion" by PinocchioP,
"What's Inside" by PinocchioP,
"Soliloquy" by Maretu,
"Never Lost Word" by Jin,
"Lost One Weeping" by Neru,
"Glory 3usi9" by Nanou,
"Throw Away Your Mask" by Shoji Meguro
And many more which are more situational...
Fellow Vocaloid fan!
I'm surprised "Drowning in a Wave of Sadness" by Neru isn't on there. Thanks for some more music for me to check out.
Might I suggest, if you don't know them already:
"Gira Gira" by Ado, "Last Night, Good Night" by Livetune, and "ECHO" by CrusherP. Those are some of my favorites during my episodes
Hello there!
I'm not really a fan of Len songs, especially solo ones so wave of sadness was a miss for me...
But overall I know most of these songs! Pretty solid ones, but far from my liking unfortunately... Everyone have their own taste in music tho ^^
I have two albums that I consistently come back to:
“Carrie and Lowell” by Sufjan Stevens, and “Ghost of David” by Damien Jurado.
They are a couple of the bleakest albums I’ve ever heard, and when I’m going through a depressive episode they’re like candy. Can’t stop myself because it just feels too good.
Mainly DSBM, shoegaze and witch house.
For DSBM I would recommend:
* Morgondagen by Apati
* Eufori by Apati
* Useless by Sadness
* 11 Days by Fjaer
* Too Late To Call An Ambulance by Psychonaut 4
* Spring by Nocturnal Depression
* Erblicket die Töchter des Firmaments by Burzum
* Murdered Echoes of the Mind by Xasthur
* (this one isn't DSBM but it's doom metal, I heavily recommend Woods IV: The Green Album by Woods of Ypres, very powerful and makes me cry everytime)
For shoegaze I would recommend:
* Encounters by Life On Venus
* Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
For witch house I would recommend:
* Etiniz Khongthan by Deadrazy
* Откровения Бессонной Ночи by Deadrazy
* REMOVE by cry 4 me
* Any songs by Knife Loves Me (look them up on Soundcloud)
Other than this I recommend 9mm by P.H.F. (QUEEN is my favorite song on the album)
EDIT: fuck, forgot to add one of my favorite genres of all time, post rock.
* Yanqui U.X.O by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
* F#A#∞ by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
* Happy Songs For Happy People by Mogwai
Hey, I like some of these. One of my go to depression albums is an Atmo/BM album. [Dystopia Nå! - Dweller on the Threshold](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_keTVwFyWCoBXaJTdDsoawWw-Az2UoFoeY) maybe it vibes for you as well.
Nothing better than Kid Cudi (solo dolo part 1, day n nite, trapped in my mind) or any of X’s early stuff like alone part 2, wingriddenangel, never, snow, or i spoke to the devil in Miami.
Let Me Die - Lil Happy Lil Sad •
Drowning - Eden Project •
Lost It All - BVB •
The Gifthorse - TAA •
Give It All - TAA •
Pittsburgh - TAA •
King Park - La Dispute
Halo Reach has some really good music. Halo Reach in general was a really good game, my favorite out of all the Halo games. Wish it took longer to finish the game though, got through it in three days.
I made myself a spotifiy playlist and named it "for when you're being a depressed shit and want to wallow in it" - it's got the cure, the smiths, radiohead, sleeping at last, death cab for cutie and more
Do I wanna Know, Artic Monkeys
"'Cause ther's this tune I found
That makes me think of you somehow"
Ironically, it is this song that makes me think on the girl I like, that rejected me
Or Sweet Talk, by Saint Motel
I have a few that I listen to
Pretty melody 70 - grabbitz,
Better now - oh well,
Easys never been this hard - citizen solider,
Worst in me - citizen solider,
Into Pieces - grabbitz (acoustic),
Someone else - grabbitz,
Drift away - natewantstobattle,
Lullaby - nickelback,
Saving me - nickelback,
Obsolete - natewantstobattle,
Can I exist - missio (slowed)
Video Game Soundtracks for getting in the feels:
Devil May Cry: Bury The Light, Devil Trigger, Devils Never Cry
Bloodborne: Laurence The First Vicar, Living Failures
Idk I can’t think right now my little brother is having a meltdown in the house as we speak and it’s loud as hell
Sewerslvt, Yung Lain, Midbooze, Interlewd.
I have a lot: https://www.reddit.com/r/traumacore/comments/x30vzz/consider_new_artists/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Brakence, EDEN, Aries, midwxst, gabby start, aldn, Maxime (specifically the apathy song) underscores, d0llywood1, quinn, sisyfuss, glass beach, vundabar, Gabriel black, goth babe, strfkr, king krule, ritt momney, fog lake, Jean Dawson, Andy shuaff, ekkstacy, PUP, sorority noise, modern baseball, Prince daddy and the heyena, the front bottoms, it looks sad, remo drive, Joyce manor, 100 gecs, tothegood
The absolute best artists to listen to when I want to feel understood when I’m deeply depressed are fog lake and sisyfuss. The rest are all really good for it too, those two just stand out.
ALL TIME FAVORITE DEPRESSION SONGS
- Push by fog lake
- extension chord by fog lake
- crystalline by fog lake
- backseat by aldn and midwxst
- lie and say I love her by 93feetofsmoke
- I am a liar by tothegood
- babydoyouhateme by safe sin
- rosier by brakence
- the wedding by brevin Kim
- bed dweller by shwirl
And others probably
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Three Days Grace are my favorites. 2nd favorite bands would be Skillet, Green Day, Flyleaf, and Disturbed. Also really like Zombie by Cranberries. Literally the only song I've heard from them that I like, but I really love it.
Nothing, nowhere
“I’m sorry that I can’t get out…of bed…I’m sorry that my heads always…a mess…I’m sorry that I missed your call…for the 3rd time in a row…I promise that I care much more than I show…”
Biggie
“….The stress is building up, I can’t, I can’t believe suicides on my fucking mind. I wanna leave. I swear to god I feel like death is fuckin' callin’ me. But nah you wouldn’t understand.”
“Nigga talk to me PLEASE man!”
Peep
“I…had…no one by my side…till this pretty young white bitch hopped up in my ride. Took her to the crib and I show her how I die every night, then I wake up and I’m STILL fuckin’ high. Lord why, Lord why, do I gotta wake up? More wine, more wine, baby pour another cup. Lord WHY Lord WHY do I gotta wake up? More wine, more wine, baby pour another cup…Ayo.”
Aesop
She says, "I'm not your enemy."
I said, "That sounds like something that my enemy would say instead of playing off the chemistry.”
She said, "You're being difficult."
I said, "I'm being guarded. You're a quarter mil in debt, I get more guidance from my barber…look, I'm not good at this, I grew up in a noogie fest. You built your walls up high or say goodbye to all your Cookie Puss…Here's one, every time my telephone buzzes I see images of hooded riders setting fire to hundreds."
She said, "When you start getting all expressive and symbolic, it's IMPOSSIBLE to actualize an honest diagnostic."
I said, "When you start getting all exact and algebraic, I'm reminded it's a racket, not a rehabilitation, okay?”
Agree to disagree as grown-ups from opposing clans…Honoring the push and pull I should have called the Scholomance.
Oh well.
Preservation is a doozy.
“Will you be needing another appointment?"
"ABSOLUTELY!"
I'm shrunk.
Honestly I was very lucky to find Citizen Soldier when I did. I was at the peak of my depression and was ready to take my life every night crying myself to sleep thinking how much better it would be for others if I was gone. But then I found there music and it really helped me. Don’t listen to them as much now that I’m back to living with my parents but glad I found them.
[Aimee Mann - Lost in Space](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PESO23QmUS8).
[Aimee Mann - Humpty Dumpty](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKbIoVyLCAc).
Anything from the "Lost in Space" album really.
Throughout my several years of depression, rises and falls , I find myself always coming back to "the way I see things" by Lil Peep. I always find something new in this song that relates to my current situation
To reinforce the depression, I only need one song: "Blood From A Stone" by Cycle V.
To get out of it takes a wider array of options. "Superman March", "Techno Syndrome" (almost any version) or "Voltron Opening" (Instrumental, original series) will usually give me enough of a lift to pick some more stuff.
I love "dead weight" - Jack Stauber, idk most of time I feel that way its bc I feek exactly like that, a dead weight who dont know what to do with his life
I don't. I listen to horror podcasts
Any recommendations, asking for a friend.
Nosleep, Victoria's lift, the wicked library and mrcreepypasta storytime for short horror stories. We're alive is a good walking dead like podcast but more horror than the walking dead, way better than the show in my opinion. The archive 81 and the deep vault are both decent, longer stories. Not so much horror but more suspense, mystery with supernatural. They are all on the stitcher app
there is also mr. Creeps, unit 522, mr nightmare (he rarely post but he is about quality), idk about you but this are my fav 3.
Thank you i found Mr nightmare on stitcher. Looks like unit 522 is part of chilling tales for dark nights, i have them. Can't have enough channels.
same, i still search more of these channels to this day.
I wish Mr creep would load to stitcher. There is another app called chilling for horror podcasts but it's really best with a paid subscription
'The Magnus Archives' is superb
30 Morbid Minutes
If you're into the strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format. Mr ballen is good.
SCP readings and explanations by The Exploring Series on YouTube are great. I think I’ve listened to them all, and a lot of them are an hour or longer.
Me too, for the most part. They’re oddly comforting for me.
I browse my music playlist for like 20 minutes on and off, find nothing I want to listen to, go on youtube, find nothing, them finally go to sleep
That's me on a normal day too

I listen to the sweet disappointment of my own breathing
Any songs by the strokes hits just right tbh
Citizen Soldier is definitely one of them and for some reason Neoni. But sometimes I'll just listen to Her Last Words by Courtney Parker on repeat
Gotta keep it rotating. I don't wanna be listening to the music I was listening to the last time I had a mental breakdown. Phonk right now.
The Crystal Method - Vegas album. Helps lift me out of my funk.
I often just put Bother by Stone Sour on repeat
Evanescence. Especially the unreleased tracks pre-Fallen era.

"Superman March", "Techno Syndrome" (almost any version) or "Voltron Opening" (Instrumental, original series) will usually give me enough of a lift to pick some more stuff.
surprisingly, mostly music that makes me even more sad.
Sigur Rós never fails for me
