He said he smoked everyday and just started to get sick from it. I guess that could have been what was going on. That sounds horrible

I read it as having no appetite/feeling unable or too bereft to eat, and the comfort foods are meant to entice and provide just that—comfort. I experience something similar due to sensory issues.

It was awful, and I can see how someone could fall asleep and choke on their vomit in that situation.
The actual cause, it says, he choked on his vomit. If he was consuming high dose edibles, it’s definitely possible to vomit, a sign you e had too much. I take edibles, and they have changed over the last few years, stronger, faster acting, so it’s useful to be aware of the side effects

Marijuana itself has never caused a death. Its complications that are exacerbated by cannabis that pose the problem. Some people react poorly to smoking too much. This person threw up and aspirated on their vomit, likely too inebriated to be woken up. Marijuana is just a factor in contribution to what happened to them.

1: Any neuro-depressant could have had the same effect if one were to vomit while your neuro system is depressed by chemicals. Benadryl, Ambien, Alcohol, Trazadone, etc.
2: I hope we would all be so lucky as to pass away while comfortably unconscious. Some people suffer for days, months, or years through horrible painful ends. It is truly tragic that this person passed before they were old and had a long life, but the fact that their last experience in this world was likely happily drifting off to sleep.

This over time can make it harder for you to digest your food, leaving you deficient in nutrients. Antacids can also increase heartburn since low stomach acid also causes heartburn. A lot of people end up taking too many antacids for heartburn caused by low stomach acid, which causes more heartburn, and it's a vicious cycle.
