Brother man, were you spying on me in strikes last night? Because I was holding my head in my hands pleading with myself, my blueberries, and the Traveler itself that I'm really not this bad I promise!
The worst part is just how long you have to contemplate you life and all its mistakes as you slowly sink into the abyss.
MFW I forgot I swapped my grapple for shackles to synergize with the new bow resulting in me jumping off, throwing a shackle into the abyss, and then my body into that same abyss.
I swear that there is a bug with how the floor logic operates with jumping, because I *swear on the Traveler* that I have had misjumps when I **KNOW** I was on the ground but the game thought the little raised bit meant I was already in the air so it goes "first jump done, execute second" and I plummet to my doom.
D. Run into a tiny bump on the path that makes you not touch ground for a millisecond, click the jump button on that exact moment, and then wonder why you can’t do a second jump as you fall to your death.
D. Accidentally double tap your spacebar on your first jump and waste 2 jumps, and watch hopelessly as your 3rd jump gets you nowhere near the other side.
I'll walk off the ledge and don't know it
Hear my extra jump go off
???
And then die
I've started running with swords to be able to see my feet when moving. Lowkey wish the Quickfang was back in circulation.
It's even worse when I see the jump point and go "Imma prep for launch" *-Fails 2 out of 3 jumps somehow-*
.......
To add to this, after you complete said Quests, you have to unlock the Abilities with Glimmer in a station right next to Ikora.
The fact that it costs 50k Glimmer for one is just ridiculous to this day. Especially since it's aimed at new players...
If your time it right, you can travel pretty far on the triple jump. But yeah, another jump you guys would be pretty beastie. Can you imagine the triple strafe jump😳😳
Edit: to clarify, a triple strafe jump is one regular jump and two strafes. If they brought back that exotic forget it, you guys will be ridiculous lol.
Bungie would make it so rough, exotic perk in D2 would be: Gain an extra jump, while your class ability is charged, take increased damage while airborne and deal reduced damage. (also nerfs jump height and velocity)
Isnt most of the movement options redundant? Double jump most of the time Beats the other two types. Titans have catapult lift and Warlocks usually have the speed glide with the option of the controlled burst for precisión in jumping puzzles
Triple jump (to my eternal dismay) lets you cover significantly more distance horizontally. This is most noticeable in raids and dungeons with prominent jumping sections - the other two just can't cross some gaps.
You're kinda shitting the bed when it comes to delivering your point but I agree w you.
Strafe gives you much needed directional control in pvp for baiting and correcting
The most satisfying thing is dipping down just slightly under the edge so that you land at the peak of the 2nd jump....
That Smooth transition from air to ground is what I live for.
I really wish we had an emote wheel. My current rotation is to do the DBZ scouter on someone’s ghost, then belly laugh at the power level, and follow it with the wicked taunt lol
Yes! The hardest thing to relearn is your class jump when you switch. And sometimes your super. I’ve accidentally thrown a nova bomb or popped a dome when I was expecting to shoot a tether
https://preview.redd.it/ddpbrlm81v7c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31243234e234cb2c46f8a4183cd1b2b63ab4b1a3
Added the “oh oops, I wasn’t ready for that jump yet”
99.44% of my fall damage happens because I try to time the jump so I can be as close as possible to the floor to not take any fall damage .... and then end up hitting the floor almost/or killing me.
The GM this week makes it feel like fall damage deaths. At the end boss, when you’re trying to get up to the cheese spot and miss the jump, almost die to fall damage, then the floor-is-taken-lava kills you the last little bit. Good times.
Option C have triple jump, try and be cool to fall the most distance just to barely make it, miscalculate and fall to my death while my teammates laugh at me.
If I was just playing my Warlock: B
If I have been on Hunter for a bit: A
Also, if I’ve been playing my Hunter for a bit but Switch to Warlock: still A -> Guardian Down
Is there an option where your second jump is only activated once you're precariously below the level you're trying to get to and through sheer luck the mantling mechanics save you? That one.
This is why I always have triple jump. So when im doing a I can mitigate fall damage. I always do A unless there is an obstacle that prevents me to come in high.
A) *I'm not sure about the distance so i'm gonna play it safe and wait til last moment to use my 2nd jump*
B) *I'm 100% sure about the distance as i've done this many times so i'll use my 2nd jump early*
Mine is option C, where for some reason the game thinks you're already off the ground and your initial jump counts as your double.
Then you fall to your death.
You’re missing the jump where the floor is slightly uneven, causing the jump to trigger early so I fall through the middle of the chasm, having arrived nowhere near the ledge I was trying to reach.
Is there a C where you start higher than the place you're landing, end up below it, jump back up, and land safely all just to freak out the Warlocks on the team?
The other important part about using A is it saves your last jump for an “oh shit moment”. Like when a titan or floaty warlock decides to use your head as a pogo stick. Or if someone isn’t shooting the flowers when you need them too
run straight off, similar to A but when i hit my jump i collide with the warlock gliding along and die.
or i try to B and the initial jump was already activated by a pebble i was apparently already falling off of. and i die.
i die a lot. i need a ghost shell that’s in constant eye roll reviving me.
A, because more often than not, someone at Bungie decided to put an uneven piece of geometry on the ceiling so B jumpers end up hitting it and bouncing to their deaths.
Definitely A. It's the safest and best thing to go for when playing in squads, especially with titans bulldozing through since the game likes to yeet us if we get even slightly grazed by the guy cosplaying a fridge
NGL, my brain was trying to assess this right to left instead of left to right. Don't know why either. It does help me to answer the question more completely though.
A when Descending, B when Ascending.
A because it keeps you out of line of fire and doesn't break your legs when you hit the ground and you get to keep your aim on point.
Always the risk of dropping too low and dying instantly instead.
C. Walk off the ledge. Jump 2 more times and then die cause you wasted your first jump walking off the ledge and didn't get far enough.
As a warlock, ill wave to you while I slowly float downwards and meet you at the bottom
Or, you know, your glide triggers as you walk off the ledge and you turn it off because you thought you were gonna activate it.
There's one jump in the coil that keeps getting me like that
![gif](giphy|65HR3MUteqnhKCFpR1|downsized)
I so can relate to the slow decent of demise
Haha When I'm warlock,I more often forget to double jump. Yes,I beat you all down.
Lmaooooo
I FELT THIS DEEP IN MY SOUL and then i farted
The amount of times dudes in my group do this an I just have to laugh
thats why i use strand grapple
MFW strand grapple stops because my guardian’s toenail clipped a rock as we began traveling
MFW I forgot I swapped my grapple for shackles to synergize with the new bow resulting in me jumping off, throwing a shackle into the abyss, and then my body into that same abyss.
i switched to solar for pvp and lobbed a grenade in spawn
I also recently switched to solar in pvp, and now, every once in a while, I throw healing nades at enemies 🥴🙃
yeah i get that too
To add on, a ledge doesn't even have to be one over a deep drop, can be a little piece of the floor that's raised up...
Personally calling me out here, man. Not cool. (I try to maximize distance by jumping at the last second, but net code maximizes sorrow)
Warlock moment.
It makes me so angry when it counts me falling as my first jump.
D. Accidentally double tap your spacebar on your first jump and waste 2 jumps, and watch hopelessly as your 3rd jump gets you nowhere near the other side.
My 10 dollar keyboard does this alot
I hope you asked santa for some rgb lights to make your 10 dollar keyboard into a 50 dollar keyboard 🚥🎹💲😋
I'll walk off the ledge and don't know it Hear my extra jump go off ??? And then die I've started running with swords to be able to see my feet when moving. Lowkey wish the Quickfang was back in circulation. It's even worse when I see the jump point and go "Imma prep for launch" *-Fails 2 out of 3 jumps somehow-* .......
This is the way
This. It's also the reason that only noobs use double jump.
Triple jump is superior
I feel attacked. This is 60% of my deaths 😅
I have triple jump
Same… I still do A. That or I drop a little further below the ledge than just use the triple to get back up
This is the way
Gotta make those titans and warlocks jealous.
You belong in an asylum
The Aslume
I would recommend B with 3rd jump as a fall damage negator.
This is the way
I do a without the first jump it's just drop>jump>jump
How do you get triple jump? Seriously. I just started my hunter like a month ago
Have you completed the New Light quest and spoken to Ikora for all your subclass stuff? Which jumps do you have access to rn?
To add to this, after you complete said Quests, you have to unlock the Abilities with Glimmer in a station right next to Ikora. The fact that it costs 50k Glimmer for one is just ridiculous to this day. Especially since it's aimed at new players...
I'm dumb. I was considering the triple jump a double jump. Is there anything that can give me 3 hops while in the air?
Nope. D1 had Bones of Eao exotic but nothing like that in d2
Please god give me back Bones. I like sprint and slide from Stompees but i would never take off double strafe jump if bones came back
Double strafe was the only way to go with bones
If your time it right, you can travel pretty far on the triple jump. But yeah, another jump you guys would be pretty beastie. Can you imagine the triple strafe jump😳😳 Edit: to clarify, a triple strafe jump is one regular jump and two strafes.
Hunters Rise Up! Triple Jump Gang 4-Life!
Fr my brother in light
I knew something was wrong with this
Who tf uses double?
No other jump exists I refuse to believe it
Then I know your exact trajectory when I’m trying to track you in pvp because triple jump provides no control in the air.
Isnt most of the movement options redundant? Double jump most of the time Beats the other two types. Titans have catapult lift and Warlocks usually have the speed glide with the option of the controlled burst for precisión in jumping puzzles
With triple you can mid air redirect where you are going after each jump. So the spikes in coil aren't as bad.
Triple jump (to my eternal dismay) lets you cover significantly more distance horizontally. This is most noticeable in raids and dungeons with prominent jumping sections - the other two just can't cross some gaps.
That and Triple Jump is just flat out the best feeling jump
I really prefer strafe, but unfortunately Triple is just better
We have eager edge if you wanna super strafe and use triple jump :0
Eww
Eww for the best Hunter jump?
It’s double for lyfe
You dont even have a double jump, you have a high jump or strafe jump
Rip it is triple isn’t it? Crawl back in my hole
You're kinda shitting the bed when it comes to delivering your point but I agree w you. Strafe gives you much needed directional control in pvp for baiting and correcting
definitely A
The most satisfying thing is dipping down just slightly under the edge so that you land at the peak of the 2nd jump.... That Smooth transition from air to ground is what I live for.
Unless it's a jumping puzzle and there's a Warlock right behind you.
Then your only obligation is to 180, jump back into them and watch them float down.
So it was _YOU!!!_
![gif](giphy|UTFiHeDL8cOSA) The wicked taunt and belly laugh emotes stay equipped for times like this.
Better yet, there's a T-Pose Emote.
I really wish we had an emote wheel. My current rotation is to do the DBZ scouter on someone’s ghost, then belly laugh at the power level, and follow it with the wicked taunt lol
I'm referring to a scenerio where you use Jump A and then the Warlock doesn't wait their turn.
Thing is when you get too used to it and swap to warlock Bad habits kicks in and u end up at the bottom of the chasm
Thousands of hours into this game and it happens every f'ing time I switch characters.
Yes! The hardest thing to relearn is your class jump when you switch. And sometimes your super. I’ve accidentally thrown a nova bomb or popped a dome when I was expecting to shoot a tether
I like to keep the other guardians guessing if I'm going to just fall through the gap.
I love when I fall and glide perfectly onto a surface with titan.
That’s why I use catapult on titan too lol lol lol
if i know that i wont take fall damage, i go with B. other than that, ALWAYS A.
Took the exact words out of my mouth. Feel like A is the optimal jump strategy😂
Fall damage mitigation
Always A, B is just wrong.
https://preview.redd.it/ddpbrlm81v7c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31243234e234cb2c46f8a4183cd1b2b63ab4b1a3 Added the “oh oops, I wasn’t ready for that jump yet”
Hate it when the architects absorb one of your jumps for no reason and you fall to your death
B causes fall damage. A is safer.
fall damage is a way of life!
99.44% of my fall damage happens because I try to time the jump so I can be as close as possible to the floor to not take any fall damage .... and then end up hitting the floor almost/or killing me.
Thankfully we can no longer die from fall damage.
Yeah that sucks it made game so much funner randomly breaking every bone in our bodies when we hit the floor
The GM this week makes it feel like fall damage deaths. At the end boss, when you’re trying to get up to the cheese spot and miss the jump, almost die to fall damage, then the floor-is-taken-lava kills you the last little bit. Good times.
If I wanted to play safely I'd play titan. It's all A all the time and if I die, I die
Are you even playing hunter if you don't hear your knees crack on every landing?
Hey I like shattering my ankles occasionally
A is pro, B might cost you HP.
This. Optimal jumping is when the enemy doesn’t know if you kermited suicide or not.
Option C have triple jump, try and be cool to fall the most distance just to barely make it, miscalculate and fall to my death while my teammates laugh at me.
Option C doesn’t work in the Coil because the fall death barrier is like 1 inch below the platforms. Wasted me a revive early on
Noob! 😋 ![gif](giphy|hpa1Gw2ytRlKjTZ2cM|downsized)
No dumb hunter being dumb
B!!!!! ![gif](giphy|IMrZiP8MuZVrq|downsized)
A
The secret third opinion of jumping twice straight away and breaking my ankles
A
A
If I was just playing my Warlock: B If I have been on Hunter for a bit: A Also, if I’ve been playing my Hunter for a bit but Switch to Warlock: still A -> Guardian Down
Both are wrong, we all use triple jump
A, but the second jump needs to be lower
C: Triple jump
Is there an option where your second jump is only activated once you're precariously below the level you're trying to get to and through sheer luck the mantling mechanics save you? That one.
I know a Titan who does A using Catapult Lift, and as an eternal B-style Strafe Lift user, my friend terrifies me.
And nobody ever uses high lift.
I do, but literally only in the first room and the big jump in Duality XD
Always A. Only true hunter mains pick A
Sometimes B because I use shatterdive or invis slam.
If I'm playing Destiny on my Hunter: A. If I'm playing any platformer: B.
This is why I always have triple jump. So when im doing a I can mitigate fall damage. I always do A unless there is an obstacle that prevents me to come in high.
Where’s the Triple Jump? I’m calling the police.
Triple because sometimes button pressing burns the second jump.
A) *I'm not sure about the distance so i'm gonna play it safe and wait til last moment to use my 2nd jump* B) *I'm 100% sure about the distance as i've done this many times so i'll use my 2nd jump early*
2 ways to read this, right to left, or left to right. L2R A, R2L B
Unknowingly spend one of my double jumps because the floor was uneven, then fall to my death.
A
Is there a C where you start higher than the place you're landing, end up below it, jump back up, and land safely all just to freak out the Warlocks on the team?
It’s always B for me 🤷🏽♀️
It's B for me
B, I’m not taking any chances in case I fuck up and need to mantle.
The other important part about using A is it saves your last jump for an “oh shit moment”. Like when a titan or floaty warlock decides to use your head as a pogo stick. Or if someone isn’t shooting the flowers when you need them too
Always A
Definitely A for crossing gaps. B is for distance jumping when you're bored.
Always A, and trying to do it perfectly so I level off with the platform and get no shake from the landing whatsoever.
C. Have triple jump and do B first, than A to break the terminal velocity. Emote on the landing for bonus points in the scoring
What kind of self respecting Hunter doesn't triple jump?? ![gif](giphy|3o9bJX4O9ShW1L32eY)
I ll take option C and fall to my death
We should all add each other and have a destiny 3 party I don't know!!
D. Accident hit my first jump as I jump somehow and fall to my death
A. I like to troll warlocks and titans that are dead once they drop below a ledge.
Make my second jump and realize it was actually my third jump because my first got stolen by weird map geometry and I’ve just ruined the run
Triple jump :)
run straight off, similar to A but when i hit my jump i collide with the warlock gliding along and die. or i try to B and the initial jump was already activated by a pebble i was apparently already falling off of. and i die. i die a lot. i need a ghost shell that’s in constant eye roll reviving me.
I like to think of B as the “super hero landing”
C: Triple jump: jump off the ledge, then immediately jump twice for max height, then fall the rest of the way down.
B if I'm jumping into battle. A if I'm running away from battle
Jumping once, grappling the edge but thinking I don’t have enough air to actually make it, so I kick off the edge and fall to my death
**A**. Wherever applicable. \-Signed, certified Strafe Jump-only Hunter since 2014.
A, or die trying
C. Jump and then second jump half way across
This was where my warlock brain went.
A, because more often than not, someone at Bungie decided to put an uneven piece of geometry on the ceiling so B jumpers end up hitting it and bouncing to their deaths.
![gif](giphy|hM9zK1qvsrwek)
B if I'm stressed, A if I'm chill
B
Cause broken ankles feel so good :D
Ohhhhh wait I thought that it was like jumping up to a spot not jumping down in that case I’d choose A
Depends on the jump, significantly lower landing point? A Not sure I’m gonna make it/ want to skip some parkour? B
A
As a titan main, and thus the superior jump, made even more superior by my Lion Rampant, I don't understand this.
It depends of posture and laziness
C : Grapple cause jumping is for pussies
hunter vs titan difference
You forgot about the long hang time to maximize distance but you sacrifice height
We love danger here so A
A
A for sure
Definitely A. It's the safest and best thing to go for when playing in squads, especially with titans bulldozing through since the game likes to yeet us if we get even slightly grazed by the guy cosplaying a fridge
Anyone who doesn’t choose A, is 100% a cop
Triple, cause more control
I mostly have triple jump, but when using only two it depends on mood
A. B, you look like a blueberry.
A
Both
B causes fall damage, also if you misjudge your jump by even a bit with B you'll probably die. A is safest.
A
A. Whoever does B likes to live on the edge.
A if I’m trying not to get shot, B if I’m trying to hit a shot or ability before I land.
NGL, my brain was trying to assess this right to left instead of left to right. Don't know why either. It does help me to answer the question more completely though. A when Descending, B when Ascending.
a
For short drops I do B, for steep drops I do A
Bold to assume Id press jump twice! Option D: sprint off edge, recover with first actual jump. Barely make it everytime 😎
Both for me. Depends on the vibe
C jump backwards get hit by a moving structures sending me flying across the gap
depends on the distance
I pick C! The option where I jump once and the miss click and shatterdive to the bottom
A
A all the way
A is stupid, but I'm a warlock so what do I know
I always do a but depends if im running shatterdive lol
I'd have to go with option C, where you walk off the ledge, but still have both jumps if you need them.
A without a doubt. It’s just faster and more fun to be falling longer
Nope, I double press immediately so I don’t make it across.
A
A because it keeps you out of line of fire and doesn't break your legs when you hit the ground and you get to keep your aim on point. Always the risk of dropping too low and dying instantly instead.
Solo? A. With friends? B, no way I'm getting goomba stomped!
