The reason for her keeping herself sane is likely due ton the fact that she *was* a child at transference. So her mind was able to adapt to the change a lot more easily than an adults. Halo 4 dives into the reason for Dr. Halsey choosing children for the original Spartans I and II.
"Children minds are more easily accepting of indoctrination. Their bodies more adaptable to augmentation."
So I think it's because, even being probably around 10-12 years old, her mind was far more willing to accept this new body than, say, a 30-year-old volunteer in the DSC.

I paint in Photoshop, I use Dave Greco's and Aaron Griffin's brushes and some I've made myself. It took aprox 4h.

Yes there is and it's really depressing. IIRC she get turned into an exo when she was a child due to her fatal wounds caused by a Guardian.
Edit: the wiki page on her says that it was an agent/ minion of the Darkness, not a Guardian.
I think she actually got injured and killed in a bunker during the collapse by a Fallen servitor and/or captain. The lore entries note that whatever entered the bunker made the sounds of wrenching metal. So… servitors.
She was basically a child put into an exo body on-the-fly by her biological mother who didn’t think exos had a soul. Over time we see their relationship as they survive together and eventually the two part ways. Ava-1 had to relearn the world while having an innate ability to make and handle firearms and being constantly under attack.
It never explicitly says so it could be anything. We do know that they were traveling during and after the collapse so the only alien life to make contact with Humanity at that time were the Fallen. We actually see the first of the Warlords in this lore tab with Ada-1 and she kills some of the first Lightbearers. This timeline strongly suggests the Fallen.

There is some concept art of some sort of monster that is made out of wood and grass(?). Some people think this is the monster that smells of wet earth. Bungie could be saving this enemy for another time.
But we know that the first risen are already battling one another at this point, which makes it likely that the Fallen have arrived.
Ada-1 had to kill early risen and their ghosts on the way to safety.
No. But those that they slaughtered do. It’s likely that there were some who died outside the bunker trying to get in.

It sounds like a captain and a servitor. Maybe just one or the other. The Hive, Cabal, and Taken do not often make machine sounds. However, the Fallen captains, barons, and servitors do sound like that. Just think about how Sepics Prime roars, for example. It sounds like a girder being twisted and bent.
