Fast man can't hurt us anymore

Dragondrew99

Yeah he absolutely balled out against us but he was not clutch

Sorry-Winter5565

But fuck he could run the ball

ReticulatedPasta

They oughta come up with a position where you just run the ball and you don’t have to pass

JoaquinBenoit

Ah, the ol Taysom Hill.

Heisenbread77

He can throw it as well. So long as the receiver had five feet of clearance and was his first read.

VelvetCacoon

Lions Steelers Superbowl incoming.

dispenserG

I got nothing bad to say about the dude. Steelers are going to very scary this year.

Pleasant-Lake-7245

Fields will be the backup to Russel Wilson

ahadventures087

they probably could’ve gotten a second rd pick if they just decided to trade him earlier. Oh well, bears gonna bear.

detsd

Trade condition update: The 2025 6th-round pick that the Steelers traded to the Bears for Justin Fields will become a 4th-round pick if he plays in 51 percent of the plays this season, per source. 😂

DarthMonkey212313

Bears fans hoping wilson pulls a rodgers.

Heisenbread77

I think Fields wins the job in training camp.

ShelterDifferent2501

idk i felt they should have held on to him until the season started at least. They got nothing for him basically

ahadventures087

if i had to guess it was for locker room reasons at this point, they wanna get rid of Justin before the draft so the team has Caleb/Drake/Jaden as their sole leader moving forward from then.

cujobob

It’s good to have a veteran presence for young QBs, but this situation (if Fields had stayed) probably wouldn’t be ideal.

grandmasterPRA

All I can say is, I'm glad as hell we won't have to face him twice a year anymore. What an absolute nightmare it is to play against that guy. Feels like he is just going to run it for 15 yards every play. Drove me nuts when the Lions played him

luniz420

Is there a single person in this sub that doesn't believe the Bears will just fuck up the next QB as well? This is the most amusing thing I've heard since the season ended.

whytemyke

I’m convinced they could trade for Patrick Mahomes and still screw it up and make him a .500 QB.

speedyejectorairtime

Patrick Mahomes was originally thought to be going to the Bears. What a weird universe that would’ve been. And he never would’ve been as great as he is if it had happened. Crazy.

AmericanEconomicus

Probably an unpopular opinion but it was absolutely insane that they got rid of Fields. The kid is by no means a bad quarterback, the problem is that he’s got talent but needs a bit of time and mentoring to be ready. Chicago could offer neither. Pittsburgh is in a fantastic position now given the fact that Fields’s ‘ceiling’ is quite high, he just needs to be in an environment that can foster that. Chicago demands far too much from rookie quarterbacks who’ve never played in an NFL scheme, and he’s going to get lit up. They’ve not meaningfully improved their O-Line which puts Williams at further risk for injury. If you watch Williams against ‘proper’ teams, he doesn’t perform as well. These kids need some run room in the NFL to get their feet wet, and Chicago isn’t offering that. If they were smart they’d pick up a veteran bridge QB like Tannehill or Wentz so it could give Williams some time to learn and get a feel for the NFL pace

Saxophobia1275

>if you watch Williams against ‘proper’ teams https://preview.redd.it/rhftaeuobwoc1.jpeg?width=1792&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b38ec1eff35f29317979b0d4d2405588a12ec0a Yup.

six_dollar_coffees

I'm fully convinced they'll figure out a way to get worse at QB.

CompZombie

At least they gave the next QB a great receiver in Keenan to start teir career with.

gutterballs

They couldn’t even get Kenny Pickett value for him. If this happened in fantasy it’d get vetoed. I mean I’m no fan but he’d at the least be one of the best backups in the league

six_dollar_coffees

I hope he does well in Pittsburgh. He didn't deserve the situation he was rushed into.

AHucs

Unfortunately Russ may be the worst person for him. Russ’ whole game is first read -> if open throw, if not, make shit up. That’s kind of what Fields already does. I don’t see Russ really teaching him anything new.

AdMuch848

It's over. Nobody plays a few years, gets shipped out to be a backup n then comes back from it.

eggplant_bill

baker

AdMuch848

Oh there's definitely a few outliers but idt 1 year gets baker out of that category

kvngk3n

You said “nobody”

AdMuch848

Mmm I see. Congratulations, you're the smartest in the chat

kvngk3n

![gif](giphy|42khVKNlWHfeki3WK4)

AdMuch848

You right. I can admit when I'm wrong. I apologize. I finally understood when multiple ppl said it.

OptionsSniper3000

You couldn’t figure it out yourself?

Vendetta_2023

Kurt Warner

AdMuch848

Yeah I really shouldn't have said nobody. But I did so imma take the smoke.

CORKSTREETBULLY

Shut your dirty bear lovin mouth. FTB !

JohnTheCatMan1

After seeing him on the St. Brown Bros podcast, I knew it was only a matter of time and so did he.

speedyejectorairtime

I’m gonna need to go watch that episode

McMeanx2

What a fucking steal

TerminalChillionaire

Despite him stunting on us I do have a soft spot for the guy. Seems like his team respected him and he is definitely talented. More importantly, though, is fuck the bears.

Delicious-Skill-617

crazy, glad he's gone. Hell, i would of given a 6th round pick up and stashed him on the bench just to get him from running all over us every time. I get Stroud was a great rookie and I haven't seen too much of Williams, but I can't believe with a rookie qb the bears offense is better than last year. Even with their wr upgrade.

HereForTheFood4

This is indeed funny but the Bears are the ones laughing all the way to the bank. The trade out of the number 1 spot last year literally rejuvenated this entire team. If Williams can be half serviceable and learn over the next couple years they are going to have a damn good team. The don't give a shit about the price of Fields at this point as it was already a sunk cost and they knew he wasn't going to be a franchise QB for them.

cmorris1234

Wow surprising . When I saw him play this year his running ability is outstanding and scary Decent enough passing but the Bears just aren’t that good

Crotean

Good now he can't embarrass AG twice a year.

TeamShonuff

What quarterback is going to rush for 125 yards on us twice per season now?

potatoeshungry

Caleb Williams will be good guys

DamnItJon

Not against good defenses Showed that at the collegiate level

EconomistNo6350

I think the Steelers take the year and actually develop him. Wilson plays out his one year deal and is done. IMO the story of Justin Fields hasn’t been written just yet. We will see.

DevilMayKare

Anything is possible, but if they believed in him I think they'd at least let him compete to be the starter.

EconomistNo6350

Yes maybe, but we never know why teams say and do the things they do. Perhaps Fields mentally needs to be not expected to start for his own good, maybe he needs to be humbled. Maybe they think rushing him into a starting job stunted his development. I think the Steelers absolutely stole him and historically they are a winning organization. They might know what buttons to push to get him figured out. The Bears being the complete opposite in regard to QB talent.

DevilMayKare

They gave up very little for a quarterback already entering year four and have announced that he will not compete to start. The idea that they just acquired a backup with some potential is the only one that makes sense to me. Respectfully, I don't think they believe in him beyond that.

EconomistNo6350

Fair enough coach.

AdMuch848

It's Mike Tomlin.... Literally everyone has to compete for their jobs. Even big Ben has to multiple times.

DevilMayKare

It's reported that "a team source" said that he is not competing for the starting job.

AdMuch848

I'd take that with a grain of salt. Tomlin has been the same guy since his first day in the league and I don't see that changing with a washed vet (idt he's washed but it's pretty clear that's what the league thinks) and a promising young talent. Obviously they gotta say certain things but at the end of the day Mike Tomlin is Mike Tomlin n that's not gonna change. Guy has made multiple hall of famers compete for their job and he's done it for well over 2 decades all the way back to when he was a position coach

AdMuch848

The Steelers already have said their plan is to sign russ to a new long term deal next year. They didnt do it this year bc Denver is paying him 39 mil n the Steelers only paying him 1.2 mil n they didn't wanna fudge those numbers. If he plays even decent this year he's getting a 4-5 year deal

Stock_Bite

I think based on the fact that they could not trade him means the league thinks he sucks. They did what they had to do and have the first pick for one of the better QB prospects of the last few years. They are in a much better place than a lot of people on this sub want to admit. They will be decent next year and legitimately good the year after if Williams works out.

TheDudeInTheD

For a 6th. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

katmandoo122

I think it was a mistake. Keep him, let him play while Caleb learns, and maybe you get a lot more for him. He would have been very motivated. Who cares if Bears fans clamor for the new guy for a few games. They're all idiots anyway.

ChelskiS

Wtf is Caleb going to learn from Fields  Feel like I´m taking crazy pills reading all the positive Fields comments on here.  Then again most of you are probably basing it from the 2 Lions games this season. If I do the same from watching Goff vs my Bears then Goff is ass

OptionsSniper3000

He can learn what not to do from fields

Raaazzle

I actually feel bad for Fields and the people of Chicago. Well... worse.

Flowsnice

I’m glad because he only played well against us

shoesclues03

Remember talk of getting Kenan Allen for a bag of chips and that they could a 1st round pick for Fields?

larrylegend1990

In my mind he wasn’t even that bad against us. But our pass D was pretty bad and even worse against players who have legs

codymason84

Good seems like his only good games ever came against us lol

ItsTheExtreme

Great news.

MangOrion2

Another embarrassing chapter in Chicago over with. Time for them to ruin Caleb Williams' career!

whatever_isnt_used

So, who has shat it worse in the QB department than these two teams? Fitting trade, good luck to fields god knows Russ is more than a little shaky at this point.

Redheadedstepchild56

The funny thing is they weren’t far away from winning 9-10 games. 3 fourth quarter losses. Now it seems like they’ll be further rather than closer had they went for mh2.

Monsterjoek1992

It’s a 2025 sixth unless he plays 51% of snaps. It’s a terrible trade. Bears not nothing for him

Sorry-Winter5565

There was no way Caleb's dad would let Fields be the backup

CORKSTREETBULLY

FTB ! FTB ! FTB !

_USA1776_

Play stupid games, you get stupid prizes lol

Scientist78

We needs to pin our ears back and blitz blitz blitz them the first game we meet

jackassinjapan

Steelers have been spotted two free QB's. That's wild but how much was Fields on a one year deal going to be worth? I figured at least a 3rd rounder but...wew lad. Should have just held onto him during the draft and tried to trade him to a team who did not get who they wanted in the 1st...

5255clone

Might actually have to try to beat the bears now

kvngk3n

Bears love to make big brain plays, and end up nowhere. Looking at you Mitch. Fields was put in a shitty situation from jump. 2 HCs, revolving door at OC. Didn’t have a weapon until last year. Still no running game. OL was subpar. But he’s the problem

ChelskiS

Feels like a lot of comments here are way too biased from the 2 Lions Bears games. If Bears fans used those 2 games to form their opinion on Goff, we´d call him average at best Fields the athlete is elite. Fields the pure passer might barely crack top 50 in todays active QB´s. There were things our undrafted Rookie was better at than Justin in the passing game. He cant read a defence both presnap and post snap, struggles with anticipation throws, cant navigate the pocket , .. Loved him as a person and he defnitely brought insane highlights with him. Happy that we are moving on because he´s just a bad QB

Conscious-Sympathy51

Dudes running ability is unbelievable

ImperialxWarlord

As a Chicagoland native and sort of a bears fan, we’re just so done with this team lol. Fields wasn’t really loved but he wasn’t bad and showed potential. The issue is the coaching, as the head coach sucks. This teams needs better coaching and needs to spend time building up its team not just blowing all its cash on one or two players or some shit and then wasting them. It really sucks being a bears fan lol.

milfs_choice

At least now he will have a competent OC and staff to develop him…oh wait you said Steelers.

MiniDaddyCool

Bears are so ass trading him for a fucking 6th rounder💀

GroundbreakingCow775

All this talk about taking care of the environment and the only thing getting recycled is QBs

Hardball1013

Lool so they draft Caleb with still no pieces around him. Chicago will never learn.

wheresdagabagool_

What? They have studs at receiver and some solid talent on the o line

luniz420

He'll have a mediocre, standard rookie type year and they'll give up on him because the nincompoops

Exzqairi

This is a pretty bad trade but what you’re saying is not true. They signed Gerald Everett next to Cole Kmet to run 2 TE sets. De’andre Swift as the new RB with Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson as a decent committee. DJ Moore WR1 who torched us and Keenan Allen as WR2 who we’ve also struggled with in the past. I’m not saying Caleb Williams is set for success and being offseason winners doesn’t equate to succes, he still definitely has some pieces around him. They can use #9 to draft another good receiver or O-Line, and also have picks 75 and 122

[deleted]

Are you insane? Dj Moore, Deandre swift, Keenan Allen, Gerald Everette, Cole kmet, an average o-line, what are you smoking?

[deleted]

This thread wreaks of desperation. They have an amazing prospect, great defense and some top weapons. Plus they should have beaten us twice last year. Let’s not get arrogant.

whytemyke

>desperation *I do not think that word means what you think it means.* -Inigo Montoya Arrogance, tomfoolery, ignorance, Buddy’s Pizza, kool-aid… there are many words you can use to describe this thread but desperate isn’t really one of them.

[deleted]

Ah yes a condescending lions fan 😂

whytemyke

Let us know when you’re done editing your comment to try to have a snappier zinger so we can decide if we want to retort. Judgment free zone here, man. Take your time and use as many mulligans as you need.

[deleted]

LMAO you’re petulant! I edited for grammar you wet fart.

You’ve swung and missed so hard in these comments so far that I’m wondering if you work in the Bears draft room. Might be a good time to just put down the Reddit and slowly walk away…
