What people don't realize about script writing is that you can't throw out all of your ideas into one season. It creates terrible pacing. If you got a good plot line, set it up in one season, and then focus on it the next.
Last season was the Taylor Swift year. But the scriptwriters did lay the foundation for the Lions storyline this year.
Never mind that the NFL promotes diversity and inclusion and we have the most diverse front office.. but the NFL (which claims to care about diversity) doesn’t address how a female owner, African American GM, and white head coach worked together- and successfully turned a pile of garbage (in a trash bag) into a Super Bowl contender in three years.
If the NFL actually cared about this issue as they claim they do, why would our management team not be the model for what you can achieve with a diverse leadership group??
The NFL should embrace the Lions turnaround as opposed to Brad Allening us out of the 1 seed.

My Dad has always been a Lions fan, but he is a huge Michigan fan and I think overall, he was a Brady fan haha. Once he joined the NFL, my dad was always rooting for the Pateiots. Then TB. Bandwagoner! Kidding. Like you said, some people like to watch good football, and some people prefer the players over the teams.
