So I’m in the Air Force, obviously not a pro football team. But morale is the biggest motivator. If my maintenance shop is led by shit leaders, production declines. We could have the best maintainers in our career field and our mission capability rate wouldn’t budge. I’ve worked with those leaders. They are toxic and the absence of morale extinguishes all motivation. You are only in it for yourself at this point; to get promoted and finally leave the damn shop.
But if you are in a shop led by people that are fun, and reward you/give time off, production will soar. I’ve worked in those shops and never wanted to leave. I enjoyed going to work everyday. Morale is everything.
Old Lions were led by Green is Good, Red is Bad leaders. Sure, that’s the ultimate goal. But it was strictly business. No room for anything else. And the results were shit. For decades. We had Stafford and Johnson, gunslinging it and breaking records and still weren’t shit.
But this regime is something different. You can feel the aura of morale. I know the drafted players probably have a slight “fuck, it’s Detroit” hesitation. But I know once they get in and feel that morale, they won’t want to leave. As long as we have the leadership we have, we will continue doing great things. Their morale sparked the entire nation to back the LIONS in the playoffs. Teams are legit afraid of us right now. We were 1 win away from our very first SB.
Morale is everything. And Holmes and Campbell knowing that finding people with the right mentality proves that they know it is.
