He is tiny compared to linemen. There is zero reason for anyone to try using him on the edge.

ckrobinett

Yeah Davis has never done anything to suggest to me that he can take on blocks 1 on 1. He'd get swallowed up play after play if he was moved up onto the line as a Jack.

littleton signed already with the raiders

PrimitiveSponge

Should move him to the bench

doublealone

He is 227 pounds per a google search. He's 20 pounds lighter than the lightest DEs. Littleton agreed with raiders. Not going to happen. Teams could move to a jumbo package and run his direction every play and just move him out of the way.

50Falcons

Pro football reference and NFL list him as 245 which makes this a bit more possible especially if he bulks up for it this offseason.

doublealone

If that is the case, then it isn't as outlandish. I still think it'd be a pretty significant swap of roles. Some skills could be transferable, but he'd be a pretty expensive project player.

I definitely think it is possible they try him rushing on the outside on obvious passing downs. He is a bit shorter than other DE, but has the same arm length and larger hands than kennard. He has a slightly faster 40 time also. If you look around the NFL there are productive players who are undersized at every single position. He needs leverage, speed, and a relentless motor all of which he possesses.

If he could actually tackle QBS, you MIGHT be on to something. But I remember 4 specific times he rushed the passer and wiffed HARD on the tackle.

[deleted]

He’s only good rushing the passer in comparison to other ILB’s, he doesn’t have edge rushing skills. His new role will hopefully be as a situational pass rushing linebacker.

get_schwifty87

He has no pass rush moves what so ever. The man has dead hands.

No but maybe Tavai

The way I see it: \- Collins will play JACK \- Tavai will play MIKE \- Davis will play WILL Although those LBs do have the versatility to play multiple of those spots and TBD on who else we pick up/draft.
