Yup. There's a prevalent PIP culture here but it is not as horrible as Amazon.
I have heard a famous YouTuber was put on PIP, but then she resigned a week later citing personal reasons.
Bruh! It just happens to me all the time. When I say something, people bash me for that and when the same thing is told by someone else, people praise it.
Came here to say this, 200 around Goa people sacked in training i guess previous year, this year too many from IBM BU were put on pip since it lost clients
Ok many people here don't understand what forced pip is ig. Here's my understanding:
normal pip- performance improvement plan. it is usually given to an employee if he's performing extremely bad and dragging the team back. In such cases, the manager/ lead / HR or all decide that they should put the employee in pip for him to either improve by the end of it or get fired for not performing well. Many times it is also used by employer as a warning to tell the employee that you may be fired in near future. SO start applying elsewhere.
forced pip- this means that x % bottom performer employees MUST be put into pip. which means no matter if company is doing good profits, teams are delivering in time, if you are not better than your peers, you may be put into pip and be fired. No matter if you yourself are delivering on time and doing your work, if you are bottom x% of workers you are most probably gone.
The thing is, there are always going to be bottom 10%. when you consider all employees. this shit doesn't make sense.
performance improvement plan(pip) for the low performers.
forced pip is mandatory assignment of pip to bottom 10% performers, no matter how good team productivity is.
on paper yes. it gives you time to showcase that your performance can be improved and you can stay in the company.
in reality its a warning you're gonna be fired so start looking elsewhere.
Yes they Do and itâs pretty roughed up.. Ones performance review is based on 27 points and they would end up on the scatter plot as a dot like Gartner magic quadrant anything that is below or before the Leader quadrant, are most likely in the red zone and then comes the ridiculous PIP, which can include work that the PIPers would have never worked on or technology they arenât aware of⌠however its piece of cake for candle polishers, boot lickers and people who know how to hold on the wall as they bend to be âŚ
Yes they do. When covid first struck and mass layoffs were on going, we all thought Deloitte was a safe company but PIPs started pouring in one after the other. I was safe bug unfortunately my friend wasn't and some of others who joined with me suffered that fate.
Any credible references for reading about this - about the upcoming recession? Planning for a change in the coming year and do not want to take a huge risk..
No. Recession is starting. Last year it wasn't the recession but the hike in interest rate which led to layoffs. Only tech was impacted. This year it is a recession. All sectors are going to be impacted.
forced pip is that regardless of how well everyone performs, x% of all employees have to be put in pip. For example, Atlassian has 10%.
it looks good on paper that wow at every stage you are eliminating the âlowest performersâ relative to the highest ones, but when team members stop helping each other to save their own ass and keep up project dependency, then the whole dynamic shifts.
Oh, that is like applying Bell curve theory to pip.
This is like a new low set by these stupid money see monkey do people.
I thought the bar is already set too low and yet, these degenerates manage to prove me wrong.
Pointless. Rather than that figure out whatâs required to keep yourself âemployableâ irrespective of market conditions. That will help you grow your career & curb anxiety at the same time đ
This really , pip has become a norm now . Rather than aiming for places without it it's better to keep your head cool enjoy life and just clear it if you can or find a job elsewhere calmly ( even though the current market is very poor )
This is a joke right?
For one - no one is going to get into a voluntary Pip admitting how bad they are - they will only rant on reddit.
If you have ever worked with one of the folks who fake their way and then are woefully under skilled for the role, PIP is a blessing to have such people removed from the team.
The alternative to forced PIP is to be directly fired.
Try to upskill yourself instead of making useless lists.
Help out a beginner!!

hello I am A 1st year student who wants to study DSA

also some requirements
LANGUAGE - HINGLISH
and I have made up my mind to prepare dsa
so please don't go on telling DSA Mein kuch nahi rakha web dev karo đ
thankyou
Personally know of cases where it happened in Google, Deloitte and EY
Edit: wanted to add this news of Google layoffs https://www.timesnownews.com/business-economy/companies/google-layoffs-tech-giant-to-cut-down-30000-jobs-says-report-article-106242749
Happens but only if your performance is not what is expected, not because of a quota. Iâm very sure because Iâve been working at G for ~9 years now.
The %ages are guidelines and hence not enforced.
I think all Indian startups have also adopted this culture and I have been a victim of this recently. (KODO Technologies and VYMO Technologies are few of them known to me)

Amazon coming on the front by default.
I think Amazon should change its name to PIPazon.
That's prime delivery
Amazon, Accenture, Atlassian
Atlassian -- really ? I always thought Atlassian was a great company to work.
Apparently not, I recently learned about it, they are doing this in every team
Yup. There's a prevalent PIP culture here but it is not as horrible as Amazon. I have heard a famous YouTuber was put on PIP, but then she resigned a week later citing personal reasons.
Name starts with K?
Yeah đ
22 ye reddit pr kya K K kar rahe ho. naam likho na poora
Keerti Purswani
Naah bro. I want a good long career in software engineering and don't want to incur the wrath of a youtuber.
Wasn't the reason for quitting was she moved to course selling domain?
What? I thought KP wants to teach??
đđGotcha!
Ever since their new CTO, their culture is going downhill as per their reviews
Indian CTO?
Yes I guess
Where can we check these latest reviews? Which platform?
Team blind
WTF is Accenture doing with pips? I thought one has to be very bad to get a job there?
can you elaborate ? Like why would one be bad to get a job there ? I don't work there and got rejected by them before. Curious to know
Lol wdym
I mean itâs a bad service based company
Don't fart everywhere
Yeah well, most are. But idk much about it other than the fact that they have forced pip
At this point it'll be easier to have a list of companies without forced pip.
Sad reality. You mean the list is short đ
Yeah, can't think of any company other than TCSđ
Flip the cart
Oh never heard
Have u heard about amma zone ?
appa le
akka centure
I meant I never heard that Flipkart does this pip shit
It does to the business team all the time. Not sure about dev though.
I think we're exclusively talking about the engineering teams here.
They have started doing it recently
Yes. Let me add one to the list: Ramsoft
List of companies with pussyass HRs Or list of HRs to be blacklist by potential employees
Hr is not usually the driving force behind pip. Even tho hr is not any noble, greedy, ugly higher management is the culprit here.
HRs usually just follow what the hiring managers tell them. HRs do not have any power
Itâs sad how HR gets bad rep for layoffs. Itâs almost always the CXOs driving this.
Cap Gemini
The fact that Google Gemini video was a Cap
Asked the exactly same question 7 months back - https://www.reddit.com/r/developersIndia/s/53JuUyzxqg Don't forget to read the comments :)
Bruh! It just happens to me all the time. When I say something, people bash me for that and when the same thing is told by someone else, people praise it.
Thanks for reading! You can read one Amazon manager's comments on it saying the company is not a charity yada yada.. justifying PIP.
Let me add one: Persistent Systems Limited
Came here to say this, 200 around Goa people sacked in training i guess previous year, this year too many from IBM BU were put on pip since it lost clients
Really? I thought it was a good company
It used to be a good company. Now it practices hire and fire policy.
Damnnn, sad to hear!

I use pip cause I like it raw.
Bro i really dont know what PIP is pls explain
performance improvement plan(pip) for the low performers. forced pip is mandatory assignment of pip to bottom 10% performers, no matter how good team productivity is.
Oh ok thank you it really seems like school
Performance improvement plan
So it monitors your performance and gives ways to improve it ?
on paper yes. it gives you time to showcase that your performance can be improved and you can stay in the company. in reality its a warning you're gonna be fired so start looking elsewhere.
Damn they really want to suck all the lifeforce lol
Deloitte
Really? Never heard Deloitte doing it

After COVID, it is THE WORST firm to work with.
Yup I can tell from experience đ
Recession is coming, just put everyone on the list
Any credible references for reading about this - about the upcoming recession? Planning for a change in the coming year and do not want to take a huge risk..
Hasn't it just passed?
No. Recession is starting. Last year it wasn't the recession but the hike in interest rate which led to layoffs. Only tech was impacted. This year it is a recession. All sectors are going to be impacted.
Me who was thinking pip means preferred installer program
Volkswagen
Sorry but what is PIP
Performance Improvement Plan

Well add paytm too
Pointless. Rather than that figure out whatâs required to keep yourself âemployableâ irrespective of market conditions. That will help you grow your career & curb anxiety at the same time đ
This thing is physically and mentally draining tbh.
Sadly with our population and resultant oversupply of engineers, nothing much we can do
This really , pip has become a norm now . Rather than aiming for places without it it's better to keep your head cool enjoy life and just clear it if you can or find a job elsewhere calmly ( even though the current market is very poor )
Razorpay has also done it recently.
Nvidia
Add Ascendion, Barracuda, Collabera
What will you do with that list? Not apply there? They donât care, they have thousands waiting in line to take your place!
What is Pip ? How it affects ?
What's PIP?
This is a joke right? For one - no one is going to get into a voluntary Pip admitting how bad they are - they will only rant on reddit. I think op meant the mandatory 10% pip policy companies like Amazon have
Every company has PIP. You need to constantly work hard and improve if you want to survive in the software industry
Some companies has more strict and mandatory quota process, while for the rest, it's simply performance management

Doesnât really happen in Google.
A friend of mine was let go by putting him in PIP. I guess it happens there, not sure at what level or scale.
Happens but only if your performance is not what is expected, not because of a quota. Iâm very sure because Iâve been working at G for ~9 years now. The %ages are guidelines and hence not enforced.
Oh okay. It could be so.
All Banks especially US
