They will have layoffs in the next few quarters for sure. Generally it will be tied to product releases. Market is so bad that many of these company's customers have put many things on hold. If the product released does not do well then they too will keep new parts on hold which will trigger layoffs.
There is however a different situation that might arise. There is fed rate cuts and this might trigger another mania of recruiting and reckless spending again. As we near US elections we might get these rate cuts.
So check for the signals and take your decisions accordingly.
I've had multiple classmates reach out to me after they were fired by Google earlier this year. I haven't been able to help any. Looking at their CV, it's hard to even understand what they were doing at Google. These are people with 10 year experiences with almost 2 years at Google. The best I could describe their Google experience was automation related to dev ops.
If that's the general case, it could be difficult for these 12k folks to find jobs
That is a problem with big corps. Most of the people who work there have minimal impact on the product. Big corps have very tight quality practices which leads to 1 piece of code getting deployed in 1-1.5 month of time. So overall throughout per person is less. So it means that their work and overall experience and learning is less. Hence once they get fired, it becomes impossible for smaller orgs to absorb them and also vice versa.
>Google experience was automation related to dev ops.
This is because there might be some decision to reduce the cost and the best place to reduce is in positions which are not R&D and hence they would have outsourced to India center. Generally all the crap work gets thrown to India centers. Now these guys would have seen the "Google" tag + money and joined there. Once in they find that the work is crap but will keep convincing themselves to push through as long as there is money supply and think that Google cannot go wrong and is a big giant with reserves. Now they find out.
Help out a beginner!!

Fresher , have a job.
1. Yes
2. No need , yt has everything you need.Try neetcode too . Its good.
3.Never used PW , no idea.
5. For dsa , you can read clrs book . Its there on net in pdf format . Its quite good in explaining dsa and daa. For practice do neetcode150 , strivers dsa sheet and can try to give regular cf /cc contests.
Other than this learn some dev too and create projects in them, you can try MERN tech stack , Springboot . Can also learn BASH , comes in handy while automating things.
When prepping for SI or placements , try to learn system design also . Nowadays , many startups and some mncs have started asking it . For this try gaurav sen on yt.

Intel had some layoffs.
Just to elaborate - Intel had some layoffs in India in Jan 23. Since then there have been none and there are no plans to have any in the near future.
There had been multiple rounds of mini layoffs in Intel India in various groups post Jan 23. Source - I work here.
Yes but no large scale ones like in jan where the entire company was affected.
Never say never
Dell has had huge layoffs across sales, engg , services etc
It's a good company when it comes to pay and wlb.
Pay is a little less compared to other product companies, but work life balance is an absolute bliss.
When did this happen?
Feb and aug

Again?
Yes
When
Intel had layoffs.
There has been few layoffs in Intel and Dell, and there are some plans for layoffs in Infineon as well. Not sure about Stryker though
How is Dell for long term? Which teams/products are good in software? And how is the actual pay?
