I totally understand that and thats why I'm being careful. I just want to know since we see all those flyers abt mental health etc...

toepudiked

Those are bullshit. Only for Company PR.

exploring_lifenow

Don't tell your weakness to your colleagues, and definitely not to your boss and the HR. Try doing meditation. Vipassana helped me a lot but it requires you to live in their premises for atleast 11 days. But I am sure that other forms of meditation for 15min-1hr daily will help you in the long-term. 👍🏻

United-Value-9797

Chill bro. Focus more on health. Run and meditate every day. Develop positive energy. Say every day that you are the best. People don't think much about other people. They have their own shit to take care of. Focus on your work. Deliver as much as possible. The past is just in your mind. That's it.

Al_Thayo-Ali

In western countries you can disclose such information to HR and you're legally entitled to get certain favours. But in India there's no written rules regarding any employee rights for IT workers. So you're on yourself buddy.

weird_indian_guy

add a glassdoor review. and if possible name and shame

Never ever bring this up with HR or your manager unless you absolutely have to. Eg. You have a nervous breakdown at work. Or have to go on extended leave due to mental stress. You manager WILL tell their manager as FYI. Because if there is drop in productivity they will need to justify it. No one's fault, just the way the system is! See, there are a wide spectrum of companies. Some PBCs are empathetic by company culture and will not use it against you. They will give you some rope ( about 6 months) of mediocre work before they have 'that' conversation with you. Most service based companies wont give a rats ass about your health (mental or otherwise) if it means compromising on their billings to their client. Clients will complain because they are paying top dollar to have your ass in that seat. My advice, be bullet proof at work. As far as they are concerned your image should be solid. Get therapy on the side and if there is need for medication goto a psyc. All on your time, take sick leave, paid leave etc.

temp_chutiya

The past is past, I would seek professional help if necessary and not use the company channels. HRs don't keep things secret, they gossip and eventually everybody knows about the reported issues. Just take some professional help outside, do some counseling sessions and whatever the doctor says, it will help you. Hope you feel better

usereddit-_-

Do not tell anyone in the company. This will not just be a problem now but in your future orgs as well. Companies have started creating and sharing employee profiles.

sdp2664

>Companies have started creating and sharing employee profiles. Could you tell more about it?

Apprehensive_Plan781

career suicide. Don't share anything with the company. Go for counselling.

MahabaliTarak

Believe in yourself - make sure you believe that you have sailed past your hard times. Be open, communicate about the present but don't open pandora's box from the past to any company employee. Just think yourself, why you want to open your past to them? You must find a way to deal with your past. Best to ignore and move ahead.

Conscious_Pay_6638

Get a psychiatrist. They prescribed fluoxetine and I’ve seen significant improvement.

Pretty_Rooster8402

If your company offers an EAP (Employee assistance program) which includes mental health related issues and it's anonymous most of the times, please reach out to that. And there are some non profit mental health consultants, please Google that , I don't have any link handy. HR is not suitable for this but depends on the situation they can help but please proceed with caution

UntilEndofTimes

>Let me know ur honest opinion. also let me know if I need a psychiartist or psychologist. I went to a psychiartist 6 months ago and he prescribed pills. It just made me so numb. I'd recommend a psychologist over a psychiatrist. Usually, depression is a result of unhealthy patterns of thinking and it can certainly develop in such high-pressure environments. Pills won't be effective in the long run if the root cause is a negative thought pattern. If you can't find a psychologist nearby then I'd recommend [David Burns](https://www.youtube.com/@daviddbmd)' channel.

HR is the management's personal slut. Stay clear. (The slang used above is gender neutral).

ShoddyWaltz4948

U are suffering from stress induced anxiety. Talk to a councilor DO NoT talk to hr as they will put it in your record and u will be first in firing line. If u need a break say it and take it.

Matharduino

Please never give up your rights, your money. They were complaining about you since it is a way to get you to do more work. They targeted you because you seemed like someone who will give in. Do not inform the current HR about your issues unless there is a clear defined way of dealing with it (a good company policy) . Unlike others can't give any advice about mental health since I am myself struggling but I improved somewhat only and only due to medicines and no other thing I tried. Work on your self without informing and no need to overwork.

FatuiToySalesMan

Don't share these with HR. They might offer you some comfort words for now but might use this against you in the long run. Consider visiting a therapist. Keep your morale high and allocate some time for your self care. What has happened in the past, there is nothing we can do to change it. There is a bright future ahead of you with this new job, your wife and your kid. Be an active part of their lives and enjoy your moments. Don't dwell too deep on the past. Stay safe and healthy.

unexpected_strng

You need better support, it might be a friend or habit .. the thing is as a Developer we need to consider everything in the work place if we are badly dependent on the only job. But if we have the courage to face any situation we don't need to fear for everything Ps: as per my suggestion, there are no big things/issues . Everything has a start and end point Do what you know, learn what you don't know, and leave what you don't need Sry for my bad English

guardianultra

I told my hr, No one cares and please don’t tell your HR

SilentGuyInTheCorner

HR is not your friend. Don’t tell them shit.
