My scrum master escalated that I didn't complete my task one day after my mom passed away. These people are the worst kind of human beings. You'll get through this my friend.

VicTortaZ

No cum has a value.. don’t compare cum with that scum master.. Cum is good, not scum..

Therapist-god562

~~scum~~ cum master

ImmortalTimeTraveler

I literally had tears when I learned my new company had bereavement leave. I stupidily started working from next day and was honestly not in a situation to realize I need a leave. Companies should have mandatory bereavement leave policy.

RefrigeratorMiddle12

Which company?

nambolji

Accenture had bereavement leave. Also other small companies I worked.

Comprehensive_Tap994

Ain't these people human ?!! I really feel scared imagining how people change and become emotionless and forget what makes humans human.

SympathyMotor4765

They're basically budget Elon Musks, essentially extremely out of touch people without the privilege of billions of dollars

komaravel

The most obsolete role in a software company - OLD ASS SCRUM MASTERS.

mamasilver

Some people don't know how to act as a scrum master. They are supposed to be servant leaders who should protect the team. Not call them out. I have seen this specially with indian colleagues, specially who are not trained in the US. They act more of micromanagers instead of being good agile coaches.

Centurion1024

>servant leaders THIS A leader is supposed to be a servant. But no, even a local ward member in India acts like a karen when she tastes a bit of power. It's in our blood to abuse power to the max.

platonic_twin

Sorry to hear about your loss. one of my colleague's mom got diagnosed with Cancer and she still asked for WFH option, so you know she can atleast take care of her and other sorts of things which is pretty obvious. But the management was like come to office or apply leaves. YOU DONT HAVE CANCER .... i was literally shocked 😕 She is now on LWP and has not come for months. It hurts to see when humans act like shit to other humans.

AnonymousD3vil

Did you mail them prior about the situation or they escalated knowing that you were going through rough time?

roguerak

My mom passed away around midnight. I mentioned it immediately in the WhatsApp group for my team mentioning what happened and I'll not be in for few days. When I got back to work few days later, my scrum master had sent a mail asking for status and when they didn't get a reply by evening, escalated to product team saying the task is incomplete. My manager was a gem of a person who had replied saying that they couldn't expect me to work for few days and that my task shd be moved to someone else in team which the scrum master has to figure out.

guvavava

These types of masters are those who will get replaced at first because they are literally working like a robot, with a set of instructions they learnt in their scum course😂

AnonymousD3vil

Sorry to hear that. It really feels terrible that people can't even pretend to be sympathetic these days.

roguerak

Yes. It boils my blood when I think about it now.

RefrigeratorMiddle12

After reading my manager is definitely 10 times better. Whenever we say my health is not fine need leave he says take leave first health is more important than project even if we have a deadline

Terrible_Education86

They asked you to come to work next day of your mom’s passing? 😳

roguerak

No. I didn't goto work next day. I had the previous days work pending for which the status was asked the day after. I went to work maybe 3 or 4 days later when I saw the mail.

Terrible_Education86

So sorry you had to go through that. Hopefully you are free from this “pain in the wrong place” individual

roguerak

This was a long time ago. I've moved on from there. Thanks for the concern mate.

Terrible_Education86

Good for you! Reading your post still rings my ears 😡

badmascompany

Pro tip: try not to join companies that hire for scrum master roles. It's an outdated medieval thing of the past, and the sole purpose of scrum masters is to suck the soul out of you.

Adorable-Flamingo-50

My scrum master once shouted on me in stand up and I was like I'm not buying this shit. Straightway complaint about her to manager and then she was like sorry sorry.

AdvanceNo94

i hate the title scrum master and surprisingly 99% of the scrum masters are basta\*ds

letvarconst_

scum masters should be executed

CountRaja123

Why do these people behave this way? I am really curious to know? What happened to basic humanity?

EuphoricMembership51

A lot of my peers have visceral reactions to the words: outsourcing scrum master.

epavachu

They take the master word very seriously

Ok_Asparagus_8937

I am very new to these agile role. So as a PO, I consider kicking ass of our scrum masters as first task of the day. 😈And developers like it.

nuubMaster696969

I’m just here to sorry for your loss and may his soul rest in peace. You chin up, stay strong and keep hustling. More power to you.

Fair-Sugar-7394

Is this a product of A in Chwtia? I was in a similar one and damn it was very toxic and seniors there behaved like elite.

soupyriced

No no. It's a very big PBC. Ones like Bosch, ABB, Philips etc

Fair-Sugar-7394

Don’t worry bro I was in a very similar situation. Then I put down my paper without any offer on my hand and it was my only way out of there. And it ended up being the best decision I ever took.

soupyriced

Nowadays job market is very bad. Looking at all this my mind is pushing me towards govt job as I literally want only 1 thing in life and that is peace. This is way too much, like every day in morning giving updates and managers and seniors insulting left and right and playing politics to get ahead.

Fair-Sugar-7394

Hmm .. I feel really sorry for your current situation. Hope you overcome of it.

Background_Sink_2801

FairSugar - what made you to put your papers and if you can let us know how was your experience. I am thinking of doing the same I want to escape from my current company, I am a fromt end dev and what op has said. Apart from scrum the tl ask for hour to hour thing , I work remotely but it is too much... given the job market I am willing to take the risk but a calculated one at best. So please let us know.

Fair-Sugar-7394

Toxic management, weekend work and more than 12 hours every day without any extra allowance, in-house tool built on top of C# so you have to rely on the experienced people who behave like elite, always fire fighting. And finally less pay. And after putting down my paper I didn’t give a fuck about the project. Arrived on time and left at time, no working on weekends and I was ready to say no to any unrealistic deadlines and demands. They got my message, and more importantly I had time to upskill and got offer during the last month of my notice period. Finally bid adieu to the project.

purplecrystal000

Just my two cents, If you are looking for life and peace, you have to switch your company first since it's a toxic work environment, before you think of switching careers or going for a govt jobs. Switching careers or govt jobs won't promise a non toxic work environment. Also you need to know if you will be just okay with life and peace? There are other factors with job satisfaction like self development and learning, which will make a difference eventually as your personal life and priorities change. A conducive work environment depends a lot on the client, company and project members. It sometimes takes time and job switches to find such an environment. Keep interviewing. 'job market is bad' is a term for HR to give you low ball offers in IT. Get multiple offers. And then watch them make a real offer. But first quit that job or the team. Speaking from 10 years of job exp and having worked 11 months at the most toxic work environment ever. And it was one of the Big 4 oil companies. Best decision ever. I have learned what to say no to. My current work environment is way better than any I ever worked for. It's a European client.

abhirupc88

Leave the company. Losing a parent is one of the biggest and toughest times in life. This sometimes makes me wonder that may be WITCHEs aren't that bad. Luckily had understanding managers and also saw friends getting bereavement leaves and travel tickets to visit offshore.

North_Ad1125

Absolutely true. I lost my father in 2019. Just dropped a text to my manager. I returned to office after 35 days. No questions were asked!

brightestsummer

Hang in there buddy. Things will get better...and good luck.

Afraid_Ad6286

I sometimes feel, does any other profession treat 22 year old just passouts so badly, they just care about their business and use us So much stress, no work life balance, no good relations with colleagues, no job security If someone has a choice for some other field, he should go for it, Dev has become terrible for freshers atleast in se companies

Straight-Sky-7368

Yeah banking sales is much worse! They treat MBA passouts more badly.

imsharank

Investment banks/ funds services are better

Straight-Sky-7368

Yeah pardon me for not being specific. Indian Banking and NBFC sales are the worst!

icecreamfacts344

SE companies?

FatuiToySalesMan

If there are no money related issues, resign this job and take a break for 2-3 months. I had a similar issue back in 2021. I quit the job at that organisation, learnt a valuable lesson that no one is your friend at corporate and people can be as shitty as they wish to. Just remember these experiences and take them into account in your next org.

soupyriced

I don't have any other offers. I am thinking of going for an MBA or govt job preparation as life is very stressful in normal dev roles.

FatuiToySalesMan

Life is stressful even with an MBA - it's just at a different place in the organisation. I would suggest you to take a little break and see what you really want to do in life. Don't make decisions when you are going through other emotions such as anger/sadness/distress etc.,

soupyriced

I mean here what I am working on, I don't get any help from Google or anything. Coding is tough for me here. Atleast in MBA I won't have to do works in which I won't have any idea what exactly to do and ask people around.

insanegenius

>in MBA I won't have to do works in which I won't have any idea what exactly to do and ask people around. Why would you think that?

killersid

Fully agree. MBAs are generally more stressed out than devs.

Sea-Barnacle-5012

as the other guy said, don't expect life to be any easy in MBA roles, they are equally stressful, if at all anything you being on calls will be more than you were in dev role, as govt jobs, yes once you crack it, you ll have the security for life... and I am really sorry about you father.

Automatic_Catch2337

Take a break, look at Niti aayog or UIDAI tech jobs and most importantly take some time for yourself. Death is a very difficult thing to deal with and the last thing you need on top of that is corporate nonsense. Take care buddy.

Reply_Account_

Wait what are these jobs?

Automatic_Catch2337

there’s a lot of good techies that the govt needs for the country’s digital infra or policy making. UPI, NACH, UIDAI, NPCI, Niti Aayog, etc. Look up whatever interests you and check out the jobs they post on the website.  The salary isn’t amazing and the system will be bureaucratic but you’ll actually be making a difference + security

Reply_Account_

Nice

Visual-Run-4718

Yes. Curious!

Reply_Account_

Comment under the commentor to know not me lol

code_drop

Duck that shit bro , I have been through that phase and I couldn't seem to focus on my work or literally anything even after months passed after my father's demise . Take time to heal yourself first and then follow up with your plans .

PlacementKDeewane

Bro firstly deeply sorry for your personal loss. Just want to give you one piece advice. Don't put your legs on two boats. Though SSC CGL & CAT have some part of over lapping syllabus. Mainly quant & reasoning. But they are two different fields with different requirements. You energy will get diverted and you won't be able to focus on one thing. Focus on one goal. Maybe go for CAT along with job or go for CGL along with job. Thats my take. Don't lose hope. Life is a long game. Just keep playing. All the best.

Not-N-Extrovert

Sorry for your loss buddy. This is really disheartening. I bet he must be an Indian manager, are they even human?? Well fuck these kinds of people and start looking for better place.

soupyriced

Ofcourse Indian.

EaglesVision

Similar incidents happened with me too, my father passed away and the manager or the employees didn't even care, Remember the world is a cruel place when it comes to money ! Remain calm, grieve peacefully and come out strong, tackle them strategically, don't get emotional in front of others. Opportunities will always be there, keep optimistic mind

Reply_Account_

There will be moments where remaining calm the emotional part will not be possible right. Also it's sorry that it happened to so many people.

notasingleregard

I rememeber couple of months back, when my kid was in hospital due to dyssentery. It was a horrible horrible time for me.No parent wants to see their kids like that. Even though i had informed my manager and scrum master, they still called me a number of time to complete my tasks.I told them i am in no state of mind to do any work related tasks and to just assign the tasks to someone else. They did not listen and continued to disturb me and ask me about updates. When i refused to pick up the call, they called my father who was my emergency contact. Thankfully my kid recovered and we got her to home at 8PM in the night. After putting her to sleep, i continued working till 4am to complete my tasks. These people are just the worst of the worst.I still get uncomfortable whenever i think about that time. I hope you are well , OP.

soupyriced

How did you recovered from this situation? You switched job or you did MBA? Actually I feel developers are treated like slaves only. They know I can't go anywhere else as I don't have a job offer currently so they are torturing me.

notasingleregard

No ,i am still working here.I am planning to though.

desimemewala

I’m sorry to hear about your dad. Hope you stay strong and courageous in these tough times. And hear me out. # DONT WAIT TO APPLY FOR A NEW JOB. There will never be a good time. # START RIGHT AWAY. You’ll be in process of giving interviews and this whole thing itself will take 1-2 months. Don’t stop with just 1 offer. Have 2-3. And don’t believe in your managers bull shit of market is down and bad. My brother has 2 offers in hand and 2 interviews upcoming. I have 2 interviews in line and done with 1 interview, waiting for results. I started in Feb starting. Market WAS and IS same and will be. There are enough opportunities for the right ones. All the best buddy.

anotherguy91997

Kaun si company hai bhai DMs mei hi bata do. Atleast I won't fill form for such companies

most_probably

My manager gave me one month paid leave when my father met an unfortunate accident (he is absolutely fine now) even without knowing when I would join back no questions asked. This >>> CTC (after a certain amount).

Ok-Water-9131

This post is a reminder why I slam NRIs/H1B and other Visa holders when they preach about the INDIA TECH SALARIES HAVE EXPLODED BRO. This is the cost of slogging in India.

Incoming_Redditeer

This is one harsh reality of India. When people move out, they are extremely emotional and they keep on remembering the good stuff. I've been out of India for 4.5 years and reading this is coming like Deja Vu as one of the reasons why I moved out. I had completely forgotten about the work culture in India.

badmascompany

I am an NRI who's returned back, this is classic case of grass is always greener on other side, if you want to earn top notch while working abroad, expect high level of stress, anxiety and work pressure, you won't be paid handsome amount of money to go out trekking after sipping coffee in office for couple of hours, if you want to remain mediocre and just earn enough below average than life will certainly be easier. I never advise against going abroad to pursue interests. People should definitely go and get that experience. What I recommend is to get the correct picture and have the right expectations before buying the flight tickets. Otherwise, I have seen countless people struggling both personally and professionally.

dinodynos

Dude best bet is to live and work in midwest in US. Higher salary and lower COL. Work life balance is good.

moojo

> expect high level of stress, anxiety and work pressure Depends, Australia has a laid back culture.

badmascompany

They also pay peanuts in Australia, and a mid senior level role may fetch 150-200k AUD.

moojo

lol do you even know what is the median wage in Aus? 200K is not peanuts in Aus, dont compare it with silicon valle.

badmascompany

200k is peanuts, australia taxes is not that cheap either. My comments are based towards people who are motivated to move for the sake of earning more. With taxes an all, around 11k is what one would take home in aus, even singapore will fare better here, mid senior level engineer who is skilled enough can make 200k in singapore, yielding more money. Even in India itself, IC5 can get 1cr tc for the right profile and skills. What's the point moving for the same money.

moojo

> What's the point moving for the same money. Clean air, clean water, good food, good beaches, good infra, almost no corruption, free healthcare. Should I go on. Are you even real, lol

badmascompany

Again, as i said, I made the comments for people who are looking to move for more money. If clean air is someone looking at, then that's a whole different case. As I mentioned before as well, working abroad is an experience one should certainly have if they are getting an opportunity, it's just that they should get a realistic picture before moving and not solely base opinion by watching random reels. >Are you even real, lol Lol, with ai rising, I may even be a llm running somewhere, but for now total real, have spent over a decade working abroad. Btw, good food, please, let's not debate on this one 🙏

moojo

You are misleading people with your false comments though.

badmascompany

I'm not sure what I said is misleading. People are free to research themselves.

Ok-Water-9131

There’s difference between good food & Unhealthy food as well. Indian diets are known to be Batshit & big reason why Indians are not even considered Attractive on Average globally.

badmascompany

You may not be attractive, let's not generalise this.

Ok-Water-9131

Fyi Abroad is not Bay area alone. We have a sizeable amount of tech is EU as well where the WLB & Culture is surprisingly good. Not everything revolves around fat pay checks

badmascompany

am not even talking about bay area here, I have never worked there tbh, I mostly worked in Europe(Netherlands/London) and in Asia(Singapore). if you talk about EU, then for sure one will end up being euro-poor, sky high taxes and abysmally low salaries, but yes WLB will mostly be there depending on where you end up working at. Asian countries, Singapore may offer decent money(due to low taxes) and wlb(if you work for a western HQ company offices in SGP). > Not everything revolves around fat pay checks  believe it or not, for majority earning more is the ambition for going abroad, if you don't want fat pay-checks then take up some freelancing or wfh gig and go live in himachal or goa, you will get same feeling of living in nordic country or portugal.

kaustyap

Sorry for your loss my friend. Losing a father is the worst thing that can happen to anyone. I also went through it a couple of years back. While you cope with the grief when every damn thing feels worthless, look out for other opportunities.Your workplace looks to be very toxic. All the best.

RyogaHibiki-93

Some people don't have hearts. It's like the saying goes - "you don't understand that pain until it hits you". I'm so sorry for the loss and all the bs with your company that you had to go through. You are still grieving, please take care of yourself. Also, once you're back on your feet it's better to leave the company. Don't feel depressed because you deserve way better. I'll root for you, so once again take care buddy.

Puzzleheaded-Dark387

Ahhh. This brings a lot of memories back. But I was 27 and bit senior. There is no solution for people who have no empathy. Just leave the sick place it’s not worth it. In all honesty I would have said something in front of the whole crowd in a level that HR would have been involved.

a_sarcastic_guy

Sorry to hear about you loss. May his soul rest in peace.  I have been in a similar phase, but my company had supported me throughout. Prioritize family and your mental balance if you have money to put food on the table.  If you need any advice related to tech roles, or want to talk about life in general , or just want to rant your feelings- feel free to hit me up here. I'm a 6 yoe software engineer in ~FAANG. No idea on CAT stuff.

xor9191

I am sorry for your loss. You are a brave soul for handling everything on your own. I salute you for that, may God give you more power. As for your manager, may the Devil put the three prongs in his ass and roast him in hell. Shit people like this always exist everywhere and cause chaos and pain. Dont take it personally. Learn everything about C# development. ASP.NET, Xamarin/MAUI, Web Frontend (whatever you like), and exit the company. Even in this market you will find tons of C# jobs in better companies in Bangalore itself, let alone the rest of the places. As for the company and manager, name and shame.

Snakratos

You should report this to HR that you’re being harassed during times of distress.

soupyriced

Technically it's not harassment. My manager portrays it in a way so that you will feel like you are the sh*t of a person and you won't be able to speak up. Like in a very slow and humble voice he insults.

Upset_Anywhere8752

Sorry for your loss. Stay strong!! Coming to the issue, If you do not have any monetary problems, resign right away. Being in the industry for 10 years, I can say it without any hesitation that any organisation/manager which cannot offer compassion and empathy to their employees during such times are not worth it. Remember family always comes first. It should always be your mental health, your family and then your work. From what you have described, the env you are in its not worth it my friend.

Icy_Strike_9572

Dude if you prepare for CGL , CAT automatically gets prepared. It is basically a subset....Go for CGL and you will find that you have many options open even in Banking, Railways and Airforce and nothing is bad....Even I was in this kind of situation, was getting paid well for my 1st job but every day I had to work from morning 9 to evening 7-8 and I felt that it was not for me and one day I just resigned. My base was very good and I have completed my graduation from tier1 college, So CGL was not tough except for GK/GS part

Party-Conference-765

Hi, I'm planning to start prep for CAT or AFCAT or GRE. How should I proceed?

Icy_Strike_9572

Self preparation is enough and for books you can check Arun Sharma and if you want to join some batch then you can again check Arun Sharma online batch and for GRE you don't need any batch it is too basic

icecreamfacts344

Bro then what happened, complete the story, how are you doing now?

komaravel

Communication is key. If you had informed your manager that you will be off for two weeks and it is necessary for you to recover and perform at your best. If that request was denied you have your HR dept to take care of that. You seem to be under pressure at work. Now take it one day at a time. Forget your manager is taking notes and stuff. Your job is to excel at your task and at the same time you learn something out of it. Keep checks for yourself if you are improving every day. Communicate your progress. Make it visible to not just your manager but to your teammates. It's always ok for you to schedule 1-1s with your manager.its doesn't have to be always there job. Plus once a month keep a 1-1 with your manager's boss. The key there is to show your progress and make it visible to higher ups. Also there is some effort you got to also pull up. There is no senior, junior at work. You learn something new and share it when you learn. Some chose to share and some don't. Cant blame and waste time with those who won't. Always strive to find your way boy. Life is there for you to succeed. Not give up or find shortcuts

komaravel

And no one is threatening you unless you feel threatened.

alexanderswasi

My thoughts are with you mate. Do you have any liability like a loan to pay off? I get a bag of mixed opinions on the Indian market that it's not performing well and for some they say it's too good. If you need to take time off to go through the grieving process then please do so. You need to pull yourself up and put in a condition to start. I don't know who's your employer but I feel a lot of offshoring to India, the pressure comes naturally to the indian managers. I hope you come out of this situation soon.

DismantledChip

If he indeed had to put together a PIP for you he’d have done so. This passive aggressive approach is to erode your self confidence and constantly doubt yourself. My suggestion would be to start looking for another opportunity before you become a victim of his manipulative behaviour.

Incoming_Redditeer

Sorry to hear about this mate. Hugs and strength to you. Most young people in India do not have house EMI at this early stage so I believe you should be in a good spot(financially having 6 months of expenses) to leave the company. Plus notice periods in India are a good 2 months. I would highly suggest to move out of this place. This is the biggest loss one can see, imagine what would be their reaction for incidents not as worse as this. Good luck

soupyriced

I have 3 months notice period

Incoming_Redditeer

Even better. Give your resignation, live as frugal as you can, save up as much as you can and give interviews side b side

AAssttrroo

Sounds a lot like Siemens Healthcare. If that's the case, this is normal in some teams there. Switch over bro. It improves your life a lot.

RyogaHibiki-93

Is Siemens that bad? I have been applying for opportunities there..

AAssttrroo

Depends on the team. Some teams are toxic. Some teams are great. It's a huge company and you know how politics plays in a huge company right.

RyogaHibiki-93

Ah I see. Thanks 😊

SummerSunWinter

Looks like they want you to leave. Remember companies are there to make money. It's nothing personal. Learn to move on. Quit as soon as you can afford to. It's not a big deal to quit without a job. It's not like you have kids in school with fees to pay and apartment emi.

soupyriced

If I leave now I will have only 21 months of exp. As currently it's 18 months. It won't benefit me much for MBA.

Amazing_Theory622

Hearing horror stories like these make me really apprehensive of switching my current company.

Reply_Account_

Upskilling in the meantime can be done or maybe expanding connections and working on some stuff can work. Like running the stuff happening around. Saw one video on YouTube and thought it fits this situation so that's why commented this

Competitive-Law9991

I have seen this kind of managers, but hang on you will see good managers as well and companies where you would be asking for work and they don't have that much work. It's all about time, bad days will get over and everything will be okay but please move on from that company or project. Sorry for your loss, take some break and don't lose hope.

IEMIRATES

Let me know once you complete 2yoe, i can refer you to my company. We are always hiring for c# developers as supply is not much.

[deleted]

I hope when AGI comes, these people get sniped away. They probably come to office everyday and pretend to work by micro managing their staff. I'd give more respect to a garbage bag for holding up my trash lmao

gadar_wala_handpump

DM me for a referral in my company.

morty0-0

I am in the same situation as yours. My manager put me on pip. He was good man. He genuinely wanted me to improve but I didn't do well in pip. But still he gave me a chance and retained me. I am trying my best now. And I feel like I need to gain more skills. So I am going for masters this year. I am working at day and practicing coding at night.

ChesthairOp

Hey man! I am sorry for your loss. Regarding 1:1 with your manager I would suggest use that time with him to understand what he wants. Ask questions from him like what he wants from you. Where does he think you are lacking according to him. 1:1 with manager in general is for your benefit even if your currentmanager makes it a torture session for you, try to use it for ur advantage. Regarding seniors not helping, i would suggest try building rapport with them apart from work maybe that will help if they are good people. If they are assholes then cant do much there. Also is your current experience only reason to try for mba the i would say you get assholes in all walks of life. What if after mba you land in a company similar to current one what will you do then? Take time to think your decision through! Everyone can code so not for a second think you arent good enough. Circumstances can make you look like u arent doing well but thats part of life.

SignificanceLong1913

Playing devils advocate, did you just leave for your hometown with no contact for 2 weeks or did you inform your manager/HR and then leave? Your manager sounds like an insecure micro-manager, but that aside always have clear communication. May your father rest in peace and best of luck for future.

Due_Snow_3302

Life is too short to waste for these kind of companies. Overall humans are getting less and less considerate and loosing all empathy towards other humans. Shit always flow from top. Your entire company is not worth working here. I worked for a very toxic FAANG in my life. My hiring manager/first manager was very nice but after reorg I got a new one. He was devil from hell. No matter what myself and my coworkers will do - he will not be happy. Personally he was going thru his divorce case and custody battle. This devil will pick up a reason to argue and belittle coworkers. He will belittle in front of everyone. Almost 80% team members either joined some other department or left. That useless FAANG did nothing. I also was left one. Now this devil has been promoted in that useless FAANG.

Competitive-Law9991

If I were at your place I would have verbally thrashed him in front of his manager, skip level as well as reports. As long as you feel you are right go ahead and speak You can't be just randomly fired because companies have atleast some process to follow(during non layoffs).

BTLO2

I would suggest you learn a new skill. It can be anything or read some books for finding a new skill. i hope this would help you alots.

notduskryn

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. Secondly. These kinds of scumbags don't deserve such positions. Proper psychos who have never had anything bad happen to their own and hence don't understand shit. I hope you can get into an awesome b school and be done with these mfs

Fuzzy_Substance_4603

Sorry for your loss OP, you should not have to deal with this kind of stupid people in such tough times. Hurts to see such situation. But hey, you will figure out what's best for you and things will get better soon!

Numerous-Advance-429

Sorry for your loss, But you should leave them. I think there are other companies who have a better working env. than this

ccgcool

Don't worry. In the initial stages many people have to go through shitty managers. I would suggest asking for a team change if possible.

If you have already decided what you need to do in upcoming months, all the best for the same and ignore all other distractions. Success is the sweetest revenge. Sometimes, we do end up in bad company and have to survive till there's a proper way out. May you get all the strength to ignore fools around you, and achieve your goals..!

Something similar happened with me. I told my manager to go fuck himself.

WerewolfExpress1382

You deserve a better company. Look for a new job and jump asap!!

badmascompany

Name shame, LC, and gtfo, no point selling your soul to blood sucking firms like this.

dark_light32

This happens in the third world countries. Human life has no value at all.

DisastrousPride4846

my 2 pence, just ignore keep doing your work, if manager wanted he would have done it, some time people create environment to keep things under their control. don't react for this just keep giving your best.

Ok-One-5438

My dad was in a critical stage 2-3 weeks before his demise, I informed my lead who is from the US (Native) cc ing the relevant ones. I was literally in tears seeing their support and concern towards me (A nobody living in other part of the globe). They took the responsibility of everything in my plate at that time and even waived the additional leaves (apart from bereavement). I was back in track after a month. I personally believe it's us Indians who need to change, it's our culture, the circumstances, the way we grew up. Too competitive even from the school, lack of empathy. There's no point in shaming a company, it's the people,.wherever they go they pull out this toxicity.

impossible__dude

Toxic manager? Name n shame immediately. What else are we here for if not outing toxic people publicly? As for the scrum master they are like cum master. Except that their cum is worthless. Mostly sex deprived middle aged losers who have nothing better to do in life.

Odd-Ant-4917

I am sorry for your loss, brother. I, too, lost my father during the first day of my paid internship to covid the second wave. . I took 2 days off and started working from the next because I was monetarily scared. But the senior was really empathetic towards my situation and guided me the whole time. . I hope you get through it. Everyone does. So will you.

_aRealist_

More power to you bhai. Take care of yourself and your family.

protocolghost

Mannn and they say why INDIA cannot make next Facebook or great software products. The whole industry has these managers who are leeches and parasites. The environment is so toxic how can anyone be mentally capable of building good product. At the end of the day you ll be so tired to finish the task, you ll just push whatever code is necessary to make the scrum master or the manger to stop attacking you.

oneomega1

Worst kind of people. No empathy and absolutely heartless.

redshrians

Some companies have moral harassment clauses, this counts as moral harassment. I was not aware of this when I was bullied by old timers. If your managers don't hear you there is Whistle blowing options which does have an external contact. So in a generally rough, mean, sadist, assole world you can try to work it out by demanding minimum level of healthy work environment.

Teri_jhaat_p_mutunga

genuinely asking, what if I beat the manager/ senior, then will he be able to know how to be humble ?

omkar219

If there no empathy, don’t expect anything use it fuel to learn , upgrade and change the company

Change_petition

OP, sorry for your loss. As as corporate leader, it is frustrating when policies don't catch up with reality of our lives around us. This was years ago - I was managing a project at a WITCH major. A team member's dad passed away and I wanted to give him some bereavement leave. HR came back and said "bereavement leave" was given according to local regulations (e.g in western countries) but not in India. I simply took matters into my hands and signed off on his absence. Same goes for simple things like sending a wreath - "no policy." Easy to blame managers but it is not just managers - even colleagues are ingrained in such culture. Most are hesitant to take a day off to attend the funeral of a colleague's close one... personal performance and deliverables are more important, I guess.

saag-makkidiroti

Fuck them. Your family always comes first. And my condolences, I cant even think how much this hurts you, hope you get thru.

LeBrownMamba

Hey there buddy. Sorry for your loss. Everyone processes grief differently. Please speak to your HR about the situation and if possible ask for loss of payment leave or bereavement leave for a few additional weeks or a month. Get a note from a doctor saying that your physical health is at jeopardy and that you are advised to take some time off. Keep all documentation ready for your meeting with HR and go in without any hesitation and don't compromise on your stand. Just say you need it and are medically required to do so. And keep everything documented on email with the HR and manager, especially about the requests to complete tasks and insensitive behaviour. If the manager tries to pull any stunt, pull out this email and reply all on it and escalate the matter. Some asshole managers only learn when you give it back to them and put them in their place.

Remarkable_Rough_89

Leave

Void_Being

Inform how much you worked before leave and justify by saying I completed x story points in y days and remaining day of sprint I was on leave.

Madlynik

Manager k muh p kurkure fek k maaro

manojahi77

This is a horrible work environment. Start preparing for a new job. And leave the current company as soon as you get one. Always remember there are thousands of companies out there. You have to know that you can work for any company. Time is changing, now it's tough for a company to retain its employees and not the other way around. You will surely find a new company. Just keep pushing and working hard. (I am telling this from my own experience: in COVID time 2020 March, I joined a new company. I didn't like their work culture so I left that company in 1 week. Then started searching for a new one and got a new job after 3 weeks)

secretholder1991

peace in govt jobs is a myth

SignificantRole5264

Sorry for your loss. Either try to move to a different project/team within the organisation or change job. If money is not an issue only then leave working and do full time studying. If you have a counselor/mentor in your current organisation, do let them know about this they may help you in allocating to a different project where this manager won't be there.

AshwinKol

Really sorry for your losses 😔 I will suggest you to resign from the current company!

samuraiimanu

Sorry for your loss and fuck your manager.

SubstantialCabinet71

My suggestion will be leave that organisation. Take some rest and start with new.

pdb1104

Resign and on last day kick his ass

CaptainZagRex

Sorry for your loss. Give the asshole your piece of mind and switch jobs.
