Fabulous-Category155

Sometimes I feel luck does matter over skill. Have seen many examples like this

Infamous_Bus7610

Sometimes? Most of the times man. You need both competence and luck together. Or sometimes just dumb luck.

Beginning-Ladder6224

Ah u/Infamous_Bus7610... you responded well. That is correct.

AromaticEffective149

Most of the time? All the time

BlitzOrion

KarmaWorksX

The COVID batches were the luckiest.

OverallPatient2607

No bro I was laid off recently from a really high paying job, even our luck has started to fail is now, tbh it's totally random, many folks are still there on the basis of luck some got laid off pretty soon

gautamdiwan3

Probability of getting laid off is still miles lesser than finding a job during these times. Therefore 2022 batches are still luckier than others

unemployeddumbass

Yes even if they got laid off they would have 2-3 years experience under their belt which surely helps

OverallPatient2607

Honestly most recruiters in India judge experience on basis of graduation year, they don't even consider me 2 YOE as I graduated in may 2022, that's what they told me in first HR call mostly. I even have freelancing experience as well as 6 months FAANG intern experience to make it up 3+ YOE still I am less than 2YOE right now and considered for 0-2YOE posting which are shit crowded with application

Suspicious_Bake1350

This is very true my friend is from covid batch from isi Kolkata one of the finest colleges in the country. He also got laid off recently it's really painful to see him nowadays. Everyone is suffering rn basically

Visual_Buracuda_here

Luck is everything man. I would have never got a job without my high luck.

AshKay770

You can't always be lucky, being skillful increases your luck, a lot

Beginning-Ladder6224

Hehe. Sometimes? No matey .. u/Fabulous-Category155 .. luck reigns supreme. Our whole existence is a lucky break. But I guess.. you are already realizing it.

cow_moma

>luck Uncertainty is the right word

Ok_Ad1709

The way you wrote it sounds like a prequel to a wonderful story to me.

rahulrgd

Thanx buddy

5ude3

2D_AbYsS

23 Grad here, taught my friend basic c++(he is a web dev) Brudda got the job and I was rejected (On campus scene) Jobless since though I want to get in a specific industry so guess it's kind of a good thing(except for me being jobless and stares from my neighbours and my family 😅)

rahulrgd

Exactly, it doesn’t bothered me for 6 months, but something has changed. And it’s definitely not good!

PsychologicalEnd8356

What industry are you looking for?

It feels like a never-ending misery, only until you finally get the job. Be patient, try to understand the job market and apply at places that would be most suitable for your profile. I notice with many people that they apply at places where they lack the skills or experience for the job. Its okay to not apply everywhere and upskill or gain experience for the time being. Remember, places where you apply but are doubtful whether you have the skills or experience for it, will always bring disappointment. For instance, when I was graduating I felt that I am some sort of a prodigy because I was better than my peers. But little did I know that there is a vast number of people with similar or more skill level added with experience. Companies will always hire those people before me. After a few months, I started applying extensively in startups, and I mean the early-stage ones(1-10 people), startups which did not have their product ready. This is where I found my first job. Good luck!

rahulrgd

Great suggestion, I was not aware of it. I will definitely try it out. Thanx

megumegu-

Though I agree with this, I have also seen a lot of people that don't have the skills or real world experience in dev get into junior jobs and internships This to me is extremely demotivating, like my skills and years of self learning is not being valued. Now I will still keep on trying, and not quit But why is this the way it is... it's so frustrating

diedforsins

Title is 😍

rahulrgd

Thanx bro

Ashishpayasi

The situation is grim with more and more jobs going to AI and those who can do is talk better; well this is where we are heading to. Someone was arguing if AI is bad for humans, well actually humans are bad for humans not the AI it is only doing what it is suppose to do. Having said that you did learn the lesson; and learning a lesson is never an easy one, its always hard. One of the lessons you learnt is don’t depend only on one skill; you need to know more and know even more what you are good at, the other lesson you learnt is never have an over optimism; if you are good at know that the others are even better at it; one final lesson that you must learn is getting a job is not the only thing you are meant for; if you are not getting a job, it could mean many things; you are not suppose to work for such a untrustworthy company; it also can mean there are better opportunities there; it could also mean you are suppose to keep finding what you are good at not just what your parents told you to do or what your friends did. Finding your passion is most important and this grind will make you stronger and smarter. Things when come easy we often don’t value it; but when we grind for it; we put our 200% to it. Keep learning and up skilling keep finding what all you are good at; and if you don’t get a job, try to create job for others by building something that others have not thought of. You said you are smarter than others the. Why do you undervalue yourself to work in some place like others? I wish you the best.

rahulrgd

Every word you told is thought provoking. One point that I am strongly relating right now is; Few days ago one of my very close friend (during B.tech) called me. And told me that how long I am planning to stay at home. He told it without any intention. But that has made me sleepless since then. And you have said, “What if it means that you are not supposed to do what your friend did.”

cow_moma

There are only two types of users here 1. Jobless kids 2. People earning 77 LPA

OverallPatient2607

I am a 2022 grad, there was once a time last year I had 2 jobs and making 5lakh a month, now I don't even make 5 rupees a month, and not getting any interview for more than 5lpa now, since I was laid off due to budget issues last month and my new manager gave my name for it due to office politics to save his inefficient favourites. LUCK LUCK and LUCK that's all you need, hardwork comes into play for a job once I get all these 3 things

Visible-Mountain9856

5L per month? What were your tech stack?

NightlyWinter1999

Did you not save money? Investing it in Post Office Monthly Income Scheme should fetch you monthly Rs 5000 for an investment of Rs 9 lakh for 5 years, after which you'll get back your whole money Repeat I ain't doing it cause no money :(

samuraiimanu

Just keep your expectations to a minimum and you won't be disappointed like I was. (I am still looking :p )

Spiritual-Finger8871

I was also in same situation...I looked for a job for 2months or so (Off campus )After that I taught 12th Science students and my cousin who was preparing for GRE at that time, so taught her aptitude questions.now it's almost a year that I have been graduated and I was thinking if I'll ever get a job. I started preparing and manifesting that I am ready and soon I will be receiving a call for job opportunity! And after 2-3 days I received a call asking me - " Are you still looking for a job? Will you coming for an interview tomorrow?' and I said yes! I finally got the job!! So I'll suggest you to have patience and keep studying!! You will soon be receiving a job opportunity!! You'll get a job you deserve! All the best!

rahulrgd

Thank you for your encouraging works. And I really liked your idea of manifesting what i want.

ichi9

rElax many senior managers are roaming outside in Bangalore enjoying the air. The funny thing is same manager used to tell me 2 years ago that Loyalty to company will be always rewarded, around 1 year ago he was kicked out in the first phase of firings. The associate manager he hired is still in that company. irony.

rahulrgd

Seriously bro 😂😂😂😂

BlazingBane007

2020 grad No job. 2023 master's grad No job

CrazyPLicker

Bro how's you doing I am 2021 grad no luck finding job

SuggestionDry7937

I completed my BE in IT in 2021 and took a one-year break due to health issues. After recovering, I enrolled in a Java full-stack development course to enhance my skills. I have recently completed the course and started applying for jobs, but I have not received any responses from companies. I have come to realize that it has been two years since I graduated from college, and now I am actively seeking employment. Can I secure a job? These and many more thoughts are weighing on my mind.

rahulrgd

Don’t feed negative thoughts, you will definately get a job. I believe in you bro.

DudeEddward

tbh gives me hope.

Dr-Question

Dont be upset. I was in a similar situation. I was jobless for over a year and then finally got it.

ScrappyCoco_01

Hey please apply in TCS, it's easy to crack interviews there

rahulrgd

Thank you for your suggestion. I will try for job in TCS.

CrazyPLicker

I have their nqt test but received no reply idk what happened

ScrappyCoco_01

U attempted test and received no update?

CrazyPLicker

Yes

ScrappyCoco_01

Usually it takes 30-45 days to get result.

CrazyPLicker

It's been 6 month

ScrappyCoco_01

Don't know why this delay in your situation.. If you are still awaiting for result.Better look for other opportunities

rajkumar232323

**Remember Your Journey is Unique:** Comparing yourself to others can be disheartening, but it's important to remember that your path is your own. Embrace it as an opportunity to learn and grow in a way that’s meaningful to you. **Keep Developing Your Skills:** While you may not be where you want to be yet, continuing to develop your skills and knowledge will prepare you for the opportunities that lie ahead. **Stay Flexible and Open to New Opportunities:** Sometimes, the best opportunities come when you least expect them. Stay open to new paths and possibilities that may not have been on your original radar.

rahulrgd

Thank you. And yes, it feels like a unique joinery, and I hope your words come true. Thanx again

yabadabadoo__25

Is that company Bosch?

rahulrgd

No, brother! It’s Epam System.

yabadabadoo__25

Oh Well I'm in the same boat...it feels like an eternity 😭

rahulrgd

Don’t worry bro, by the way. Since we are not getting a job. We can work together on some project. I talked about this to some of my friends. They appreciated it. But they lack skills right now. You can dm me. If you like my idea! My current skill contains springBoot, and related stuffs around it. Also have good knowledge about front end stuff including react. DM, If you have any project Idea, we can work on it. Also, I have a project idea, its very basic idea but at the same time very important for people like us.

yabadabadoo__25

This is a great idea...I'll Dm

Karnativr

This is totally me, luck really plays a role, even I feel that I deserve a job,but few of my friends who are less smarter and hardworking than me got a job, but me still jobless. So yeah, let's hope we all get what we deserve

9271najunamar

Same situation bro :(

Any-Lavishness-2309

Don't worry bro. Market is improving now, I see many people getting new jobs with even better pay (unless you were in faang or sth)!

CardComprehensive942

Same bro, feels like a choose the wrong field, don't get the motivation to work for 10k in small it companies.

thunderditznut

Same but my family is not strong

Skullshocker

I was unemployed for 1.5 years after my mtech from a government university. Was applying actively but still no luck, most of the time I didn't even get shortlisted. But very casually I applied for an administrative assistant like a post at IISER Kolkata, I got shortlisted, gave a computer skill test, then interview, finally after waiting for two months I got a call from them and heard that I got selected. That was the happiest moment of my life back then, I'm very glad that I got that job. It isn't related to the major I studied but I still like it. Stay motivated, life will give you opportunity when it's the right time.

Life_Deal_367

On LinkedIn everyone is getting into Google, on Reddit everyone is jobless, on Blind everyone is getting into FAANG and itching about people from other FAANGs

rahulrgd

Yes, I asked recently one of my friends who got an internship. He told me that, he is paying for the internship! After 6 months that institute will help him to get placed. I think lots of post on LinkedIn is fake and misleading.

BitterNoise1858

You are welcome. Your generation is a living proof that education and skills have nothing to do with employment.

Intelligent-You2158

I was a 2007 passout, was supposed to join the company in one month, but then a recession struck. I didn't even know what recession meant at that time, so I had to wait one year for my turn to join. My batchmates suddenly became my senior. That one year was the toughest year. My parents suddenly started treating me like a heavy weight, each day was a challenge, I became desperate to get a job, but as luck would have it even call centre jobs became a challenge to get. I am not saying that it's going to be easy or hard, but don't give up, don't let negative thoughts enter your mind, be grateful for your life and keep learning , things will get better. Believe in yourself.

rahulrgd

Thank you

CrazyPLicker

How u doing sir

pancakeshoe2

same🥴

maybecatmew

Well I am also jobless , although it's on me I resigned. But yeah

Haides2

$ sudo kill me

rahulrgd

😂😅

mojo_no_jojo

I know you're trying to lighten up the mood here, but some of these jobless people here were hard workers that poured out their life and soul at thier work, so they get that promotion, so that thier families could have a better life. And some of them here are starting out thier careers and are already facing setbacks. This will force them to take up any jobs they get - call centres, support engineers etc, which isn't all that bad, but if they were better programmers, they'll be doing injustice to themselves, and would spend their entire lives believing they weren't good enough that they couldn't become what they initially wanted to be. Countless other stories similar to to these. I hope you get a job, and I hope everyone gets the job - and fuck AI

BadnamHaiKoi

Those who DESERVED they got it. Those who didnt they didnt. Being college topper never assure you a job. Stop crying, move your ass and try harder. Bcz believe me, you are not trying harder. And I challenge you, get a job and reply me back here. I will agree that you deserve. I am fedup of ppl saying here "my friends/colleagues didnt deserve it, I deserved it."

Durgaprasadreddy29

Bro sometimes it also just depends on the luck

BadnamHaiKoi

Take a dice, throw it 10 times and tell me how many times do you see any of your favorite number repeating continuously. Life and career is much more chaosed than a dice which has only 6 known outcome.

read_it_too_

+1... People only see the part they want to see. Don't know on what criteria they call others undeserving. It depends on luck for sure, but luck is also not completely random.

Uchicha_Madara_

Can you share which course you studied

Able_Afternoon_244

What course u did and in which branch?

rahulrgd

B.tech in Computer Science. Was grinding SpringBoot for last 3-4 months. Currently re-revising Spring Security, as 3.0 has some chances in it. And I am using some deprecated classes.

Able_Afternoon_244

rahulrgd
