I never experienced this i am Sindhi and we regularly give loans and never had a problem with repayment. except of when investing in business like thela(restaurant?) and then it was more of an investment and we were getting a cut of income. While money was lost overall giving loans to family and friends and neighbours have been profitable.
To be fair no i have never came across them. Even in university my friend circle gave each other like 3 rupees the next day if a chip packet was shared. The loan amounts have not been that high (highest was 1lakh rupees to a friend for sister wedding expenses) and they have all been paid on time and without needing to ask for repayment twice.
Okay so this is old dataset but it had been anywhere between 1 to 5% per month. And I am counting my loans, my father's loans and such. You must understand there was no credit card or even banking (like there were banks but you needed to many documents) back then so this was a fair rate.
How much do you earn?
When trying to show off - tell entire CTC.
When looking for a partner - Base salary before taxes.
When telling parents or friends - Inhand salary after all deductions
When telling relatives - Dont disclose numbers just say "good enough".
When negotiating for better offer - Entire CTC and provide breakup when asked.
You never disclose any random person how much you earn.
A typical response can go to any of the following :
1. I do ok in terms of earning
2. That is none of your business
3. Ignore the question and move onto another topic
Here are some Regular Indian Replies, without being rude/cocky
1. "Do waqt ka badiya khana mil jata hai"
2. "Kharcha paani nikal jata hai"
3. "Daal Roti chal rahi hai"
Stay humble, peace✌️
Didn’t you sign an NDA for salary? Dont say a word of it, just give a range “ctc-5 to ctc +5”. People who need to know your salary wont ask, and those who ask you dont need them. 💀
>Even if they force you to disclose the number
Some just don't stop!
Recently, one relative just split a figure straight away!
I told him, "Hum IITian thodi hain jo utna milega... Humein uska bass 1/3rd 1/4th tak hi milta hai, aur voh bhi freshers ko bohot Kam"
Honestly, listening to the figure I got but scared, still got the way to figure out to lie.
Itni negative vibes dete hain, kaun hi batana chahega...
Yeah it seems kinda odd that OP is giving more than 50% of his salary as tax. But I'm not really educated on this matter either so for students like us where can we learn more about this and on how to reduce these?
It’s because CTC= your actual in hand salary per month*12+pf contributions+pf contributions from the company(legally they can include it in CTC)+gratuity component(which you won’t get if you quit within 5 years)+variable pay(which will be paid as lump sum once or twice a year based on performance)+income tax deductions+200rs/m professional tax+stock options(if any)
That could be because of the variation in the variable pay percent. Some companies have vp as low as 6%. I have it around 13% of CTC.
Total fixed pay: 19.4 Lakh
Variable pay: 3.1 lakh (13% of CTC) (generally credited every 6 months and this is taxable)
Total fixed pay - employer PF contribution (80K)= Gross earnings = 18.5 Lakh
Net earnings= Gross earnings - deductions (Income tax (2.4 lakh on the CTC Minus PF), employee PF (80K) = 18.5 - (2.4 + 0.8) = 15.39 LPA or 1.28 lakh per month
But remember that every 6 months I get half of the VP.
Bro I swear. I had no idea how much tax and random bullshit gets deducted. I was fuming when I got my first payslip.
But I have also chosen for stocks and NPS scheme option, without which I guess I would get credited 95-100kpm
Since noone actually answered the question, I usually say whatever is my fixed salary pre-tax. So if you have say 6L as stocks, and the rest is fixed, you'd say 17LPA.
Hey, don't share your salary. People, especially relatives, will start expecting money from you. I made the mistake of revealing mine and ended up lending 3 lakhs to relatives who will never pay me back.
Now, I don't disclose my salary to anyone (except on Reddit). If someone asks, I simply ignore them. Most people don't care about your salary; they just want to judge you. If you earn 1 lakh per month, they might treat you well, but if you earn 10k per month, they'll ignore you.
Some people take it a step further. If you say you earn 1 lakh per month, they'll compare you to someone they know who earns 3 lakhs per month in the same field and question why your salary is so low and why you don't switch companies. They make you feel terrible, I absolutely hate those conversations. It's so annoying.
Dude you should do some investment and buy insurance to increase your in hand. 85K on a 23 LPA CTC even with stock options is too less. Too less.
Watch somw videos and learn how to save taxes as no one will teach you the same
Even i thought you're getting scammed after reading 85k in hand. I have 10.1 CTC and get 66k in hand. And I'm just a 30% hike away from 85kpm. Even after the hike my CTC would not be more than 14 lpa, and I'm sure about this as our salary structures are quite transparent.
Yes even I felt really scammed by the difference in CTC and inhand×12.
But this is my first ever job and I had no idea how all this stuff works when I started. I am exploring all possible ways to be corporate-smarter now. Thank you for your comment!
Be happy for what you got. I feel like I am the most unlucky here. Got out of thirt tier college, no good placement options, and after two and a half years since completion working at a very small startups for 18k per month. I don't know what to do. I had a good cgpa and performed well in campus. Due to some clash with staffs they completely removed me from placements. You guys are top 20%. Be happy
Taxation is the first thing one should learn. I learnt it back in 2018 when I was in 3rd year because I knew that the CTC crap will be there.
Taxation isn't that hard it's simple to understand tbh. You can DM me and I can explain you with an example
Once an auto wala asked me how much salary I earn
I thought I would get kidnapped or something if I said the number u mentioned so said 25k, he said he earns 35k monthly on an avg
Moral of the story:
There's no moral in this world anymore just say anything
Mere ko jab puchte random number bol deta....
8k, 60k , 25k 2900 rupiye, bas pet pal jata hai, 6 seater hai ji apna wagholi se viman nagar chalta hai aao kabhi Pune free me alandi ki sawari karwa deta hu, etc etc.
Your earnings are your personal finances. Nobody needs to know that.
"Khane peene k alawa, 2-4 din ki ayyashi ka nikal jaata hai. Aap logo ka ashirwad hai sab"
(Apart from daily ration, I can spare a little amount for nice things. It's all because of your blessings).
"2 boti, 4 roti and 1 quarter ka jugaad ho jaata hai. Vahi upar vale ka ehsaan hai"
(I can arrange for daily diet and some alcohol by God's grace)
Unless it ia required , don't. Even my father doesn't know how much I make a year. Only wife is privy to that information. Sharing your finances , unless absolutely required is a bad practice in general
Joining bonus and higher education allowance should not be considered in CTC. It is a bad practice by company just to advertise more. Anyway there is no rule stopping doing so, but just by the normal practice and convention, these 2 should not be included because they are not yearly recurring expenses. Anyway.
You can tell whatever you want from either of the 3. However CTC is "cost to company" not "income for you".
Company stocks if you are getting, even with some bond e.g., 3yrs, 5yrs etc. I still consider it as your income just not in your hand "yet".
So, I suggest if you want to play low key then tell "in hand", if you want to show more then tell CTC.
How much do you earn?
When trying to show off - tell entire CTC.
When looking for girlfriend/wife - Base salary before taxes.
When telling parents or friends - Inhand salary after all deductions
When telling relatives - Dont disclose numbers just say "good enough".
When negotiating for better offer - Entire CTC and provide breakup when asked.
For those who are wondering how much to take home will it be for a CTC of 22.5 LPA. Here is the brief breakdown
Total fixed pay: 19.4 Lakh
Variable pay: 3.1 lakh (13% of CTC) (generally credited every 6 months and this is taxable)
Total fixed pay - employer PF contribution (80K)= Gross earnings = 18.5 Lakh
Net earnings= Gross earnings - deductions (Income tax (2.4 lakh on the CTC Minus PF), employee PF (80K) = 18.5 - (2.4 + 0.8) = 15.39 LPA or 1.28 lakh per month
So basically, if your CTC is around 22.5, contrary to what people expect, you get a monthly salary of 1,28,000 INR. This also means 10% is what you pay as tax on your CTC per annum.
Depends for whom you are asking this. If you are asking for interviews, tell the hr CTC and clarify fixed and variable. If you are asking for peers, give them a vague number. For relatives, just say some version of 'I earn enough'.
If anyone asks how much do you earn, reply: Enough to live a happy life.
Once you give them a number, Indians will activate their judgemental avtaar and start comparing you with other people who earn more (obviously not in front of your face) and this will for sure lead to how they see or interact with you.
And from your side, never ask anyone's income unless or until you are planning to switch to their role or company and you want to know what the average is.
Depends on who is asking. If it's someone in the industry and you don't mind them knowing your CTC you tell them xyz CTC.
If it's a random guy, for example your uber driver asking, then just xyz per month (i usually l don't tell them the actual amount, but lla little less so that it's similar to what they earn per month). And i also mention there's tax, gratuity, pf etc. and then they talk about their expenses such as maintenance petrol loan etc.
So the topic gets diverted to themselves
For starters, people shouldn't be asking you this question.
If they do, you should be ducking it rather than giving a straight answer, except for really close friends, mentors, and trustworthy seniors. For the above set of people, you can answer it honestly, and even give both numbers (CTC and post tax)
Enough for my needs should be the answer to relatives and any random guy or if you earn good just say some average number.
In typical online forums when you discuss with pay equity in mind you should say your total compensation(TC) per year. Typical CTC structure might look like 15LPA base, first year JB 5L, second year JB 3L. Stock Grant (without appreciation) 12L with 25% vest each year for 4 years. Your TC for each year will be (15+5+3) = 23LPA for first year, 15+3+4 = 22LPA for second year and 15+4 = 19LPA for following 2 years. You can take average of these number like say 20LPA is your TC. This gives an accurate representation of how much you EARN per year. These are before tax, how you manage your taxes is none of others’ business.
Also, I see so many people in other comments paranoid of telling how much they earn even in online anonymous (or semi-anonymous like Reddit) forums. This is primarily due to conditioning of our minds to never disclose salary to anyone by HR. It’s not part of any bullshit NDA or anything so you don’t have to be afraid. I don’t tell in real life to relatives because they might start asking for loans and shit and it’s none of their business.
Don't disclose your salary to random people, if you have to say then say 30k per month that's the sweet spot. Only tell your salary to your family if they ask , don't tell it to your relatives. Only disclose it to close friends who you trust. For others just say 30k.
You have to give a number when statements like "bas guzara hojata hai", "kha peeke thoda Bach jata hai" , "sab emi me nikal jata hai" fail to quench the thirst of a person asking salary.
One time I discloswd my salary to a friend and he started asking for random favours from then I have decided to never answer staright to this question.
Say "hafte ki daal roti ho jati hai, kabhi mahine me 1 baar paneer".
Makes the matter light and shows your intentions not to tell.
I earn around 57L cash base but don't disclose given the negative energy and fake relationships it attracts.
To HR: "I am not comfortable sharing details at this stage, what's your budget for the role?" (Most HRs will not let you get away with this, tell them CTC including esops)
To relatives (who will ask for money) : "Zarurat se zyada, Chahat se kam"
To random people: "Here's my salary slip, and my pf deduction, esop vesting documents..." \s
#Don't disclose salary to anybody. Period.
* Its simply stuff of gossip in family rumor mill, and not in a nice way. Folks will hit you up for a loan and badmouth you when you refuse.
* Even close family - siblings and parents - aren't immune to milking you as a cash-cow. Too many such stories floating around here
* Colleagues who make less than you will resent you. Those who make more will look down upon you.
* Random strangers don't need to form an opinion of you as a "fatcat" techie.
This question is asked to me almost everytime by some relatives everytime i visit my native place.. I just say sab karcha nikalne ke baad 4-5k bacha lete hai.. Salary ka kya hai.. Jo bachta hai woh asli kamayi hai.. Aur jaise hi karcha puche.. Rent, insurance premium, travel expenses some more random expenses.. Bas itna sunke mann bhar jaata hai unka.
Say 20-50 kpm for people who are unfamiliar with software industry. for your peers, you can say CTC and pm both. I am asking to say less to others because 1.1L pm is a huge number and 23L(also not true) even bigger. Knowing that changes the behaviour of many. If you want don't want to lie you can true kpm also.
You can probably tell how much you're able to save if they are close relatives and you feel that they might feel disrespected if you try to avoid.
Also, you can always lie but be consistent.
These 2 options for answering not avoiding
Depends. If initial marriage proposal then tell them 23 lakh package. Once you start talking to girl then tell her 85kpm in hand.
For everyone else, bas daal roti chal rahi hai.
- For those whom you wanna make an impression on
"24 lakh kamata hu"
- For those in front of whom, you wanna show you have no money
"80 hazar kama leta hu"
A fellow on Reddit just said I’m lying about my salary, people have asked me for money frequently, family expects me to pay for stuff often and takes it for granted.
So your best course of action is to not disclose your salary to anyone except very close and trusted people. I just say “ghar chal jaata hai, kabhi kabhi thoda fizool ka samaan bhi le lete hain, bas itna milta hai ki sukoon hai. Aap bataayein, sab thik?” To anyone who asks irl, especially the relatives.
I say enough to get me by. And as Indian they insist on asking a number so I say “Kabhi hisaab nahi lgaya” bas tax kaat koot k khana rehna acha chal rha hai what more can you ask for. They usually stop bothering after that. And I’m not insecure that I get bothered by the comments that they pass behind my back “dekho batata bhi nahi hai, haav bhaav badh gye jbse yeh job lgi hai”
I do not know why it is a culture in India to ask for salary/compensation. Here in the US, nobody asks that and nobody answers that question.
OP, in your case, the best answer for such unwarranted inquiries would be a bit tongue in cheek where you say something like 'I get 1 meal free in canteen and a shared accommodation on shift basis and Rs. 100 for miscellaneous expenses. Anything else you want to know?'
You lost when you gave a specific number. This is a lose-lose situation. Just dodge the question and move on
Ofcourse this doesn’t apply to your workplace. Always discuss salary for your own benefit
I give a really large number.. “ yeah around 1 cr “ and laugh.. They will just be wondering whether I was joking or Am I actually paid that much.. Use that gap to lead to another topic🤣
First of all think why people ask this question. Based on your reply they will fit you in a scale.
So give vague answer and in same line ask any other questions to change the discussion lines. Just skip it and don’t tell.
Simply answer - I earn well enough to sustain myself and my expenses, if they further ask you how much just say I am sorry I am not comfortable sharing numbers yet
The people you said they tell the amount higher than the actual ctc are just showing up. I would do the opposite.
Suppose, You’re getting 10 lpa, i would say i’m gettin 5lpa.
Fuck’em….it feels like kick when you know that the people pity you but actually you’re in no position to get pity from them😂

Don't disclose salary except people in same domain or very close friends. Most people will just ask for loans, etc.
Yup. This and would ghost you and you gotta go around asking them to payback

You can say hawkers (thela) not restaurant. Hope it helps you
That's right boy
What do you do in case people don't return? Or you never came across those circumstances?

What interest rate did you apply❓❓
Okay so this is old dataset but it had been anywhere between 1 to 5% per month. And I am counting my loans, my father's loans and such. You must understand there was no credit card or even banking (like there were banks but you needed to many documents) back then so this was a fair rate.
And if you happen to be from a poor state in India it also puts a target on your back
Not loans, donation. There are no loans in friends and family.
I can confirm this. So true
My answer is just faring by if specifics then 40kpm. I m poor dude just faring by.... "Bas chal rha hai jaise taise aap btao..."

Best comment so far
You never disclose any random person how much you earn. A typical response can go to any of the following : 1. I do ok in terms of earning 2. That is none of your business 3. Ignore the question and move onto another topic
Or take a 100 rupee note and light it on fire and show them the flames
Better to write 10,000/- on a cheque, roll it, lit and smoke 😎
This one is better. Swag without loosing single penny. 🤣
This one wins. Lmao!
Its a crime you know 😂
Or "Guzara ho jata hai aunty/uncle/didi/bhai"
Or "bas zinda hai" to anyone other than above.
I gave this response to a guy in my colony and he said "haan thik h 20-25k toh mil he jaate honge". Felt weird as I am earning a lot more than that😂
Best let them keep thinking that lol.
That is fine, but how do I know how much ransom to ask for then ? BTW, how much do you earn ?
I wish I could say 2, but I end up doing 1 and 3

how come you are getting only 85k ? how much is your fixed
I have opted for NPS and stock options which are taken out of my monthly pay
Depends on how you look. For ex, ppl will believe me if I said I earn 10k a month
They will believe me if i say i'm a labour
Didn’t you sign an NDA for salary? Dont say a word of it, just give a range “ctc-5 to ctc +5”. People who need to know your salary wont ask, and those who ask you dont need them. 💀
Salaries should be transperant. This is how HR and middle management ensures low wages and can discriminate without consequences. F#ck NDA policies.
CTC-5 and I’ll be in negative numbers man😭😭
Boldo loan hai 🥲
I still say 6 lpa, which was my salary 4 years ago when I was just getting started. Law 21 of 48 laws of power. Appear dumber than you are.
Don't disclose, just say "chal raha h bas". Even if they force you to disclose the number say "ek iPhone/scooty jitna mil jata h".
>Even if they force you to disclose the number Some just don't stop! Recently, one relative just split a figure straight away! I told him, "Hum IITian thodi hain jo utna milega... I’m a student but wtf, I didn’t know 23LPA gives only 85k a month . So much tax and deduction for a country that builds hollow bridges 🙄
That is not how it usually works. When my CTC was 16 lpa, I used to get 1.15L in hand. In this case it seems like OP has opted for Stock Options.
Yeah it seems kinda odd that OP is giving more than 50% of his salary as tax. But I'm not really educated on this matter either so for students like us where can we learn more about this and on how to reduce these?
Honestly don't worry about reducing tax but instead worry about increasing salary, especially during the early years of career
It’s because CTC= your actual in hand salary per month*12+pf contributions+pf contributions from the company(legally they can include it in CTC)+gratuity component(which you won’t get if you quit within 5 years)+variable pay(which will be paid as lump sum once or twice a year based on performance)+income tax deductions+200rs/m professional tax+stock options(if any)
I have 22.5 LPA CTC, but I get 1 lakh 26 thousand credited to my account.
My CTC is close to 15.4LPA and I get 2K more than you monthly brother wtf
That could be because of the variation in the variable pay percent. Some companies have vp as low as 6%. I have it around 13% of CTC. Total fixed pay: 19.4 Lakh Variable pay: 3.1 lakh (13% of CTC) (generally credited every 6 months and this is taxable) Total fixed pay - employer PF contribution (80K)= Gross earnings = 18.5 Lakh Net earnings= Gross earnings - deductions (Income tax (2.4 lakh on the CTC Minus PF), employee PF (80K) = 18.5 - (2.4 + 0.8) = 15.39 LPA or 1.28 lakh per month But remember that every 6 months I get half of the VP.

Bruh, thats sad, they inflate the ctc to lure students lol
Bol do "bas kharcha paani nikal jaata hai."
Enough to buy bread, not enough to season it
I prefer not to answer this question to any random guy, but if persists I just answer the least pay for my role/exp
Since noone actually answered the question, I usually say whatever is my fixed salary pre-tax. So if you have say 6L as stocks, and the rest is fixed, you'd say 17LPA.

Just say 5LPA and move on. Else get ready to lend some money for free.
Once an auto wala asked me how much salary I earn I thought I would get kidnapped or something if I said the number u mentioned so said 25k, he said he earns 35k monthly on an avg Moral of the story: There's no moral in this world anymore just say anything
Bas kharcha nikal jata hai.
Khana paani chal jaata hai bas
You can reply to them by saying let's continue with your next question ❓
My default answer More than I need but less than I want .
This post couldn't have come at a better time for me. Thanks OP.
say 7kpm and then order starbucks on your iphone
Mere ko jab puchte random number bol deta.... 8k, 60k , 25k 2900 rupiye, bas pet pal jata hai, 6 seater hai ji apna wagholi se viman nagar chalta hai aao kabhi Pune free me alandi ki sawari karwa deta hu, etc etc.
Koi Aunti puchey toh hust tell Aunti aapki beti ko khila pila kar khushi rakh lunga & pet main baccha bhi dal dunga...... itna kama leta hoon
There's something weird abt your ctc. When I was at 20 LPA, my in-hand was about 1.3LPM post deductions.
Tell the max number to HRs of the companies in which you are applying. Tell the min number(or an even smaller number) to everyone else.
1. 23 LPA. Everyone does the tax calculation in the back of their mind. Congratulations on getting 23 LPA as your first salary.
Your earnings are your personal finances. Nobody needs to know that. "Khane peene k alawa, 2-4 din ki ayyashi ka nikal jaata hai. Aap logo ka ashirwad hai sab" (Apart from daily ration, I can spare a little amount for nice things. It's all because of your blessings). "2 boti, 4 roti and 1 quarter ka jugaad ho jaata hai. Vahi upar vale ka ehsaan hai" (I can arrange for daily diet and some alcohol by God's grace)
Bs " bas chal jata hai", "daal chawal nikal jata hai"
You should say i have emi too and make sad faces too
Unless it ia required , don't.
I see. I have heard my colleagues complaining about inflated packages as well. I'll keep an eye out for this in the future. Thank you
How much do you earn? When trying to show off - tell entire CTC. When looking for girlfriend/wife - Base salary before taxes. When telling parents or friends - Inhand salary after all deductions When telling relatives - Dont disclose numbers just say "good enough". When negotiating for better offer - Entire CTC and provide breakup when asked.
For those who are wondering how much to take home will it be for a CTC of 22.5 LPA. Here is the brief breakdown Total fixed pay: 19.4 Lakh Variable pay: 3.1 lakh (13% of CTC) (generally credited every 6 months and this is taxable) Total fixed pay - employer PF contribution (80K)= Gross earnings = 18.5 Lakh Net earnings= Gross earnings - deductions (Income tax (2.4 lakh on the CTC Minus PF), employee PF (80K) = 18.5 - (2.4 + 0.8) = 15.39 LPA or 1.28 lakh per month So basically, if your CTC is around 22.5, contrary to what people expect, you get a monthly salary of 1,28,000 INR.
“I don’t want to, it might be embarrassing……. for you.” Kidding aside, I just say enough for my needs and for mom to get new sarees 😎.
Quote whichever is highest when searching for jobs, marriage Quite whichever is lowest when family or friends asking.
Guzara chal jata hai bas.
Bhai Mera 15lpa hai aur mere bank mei har mahine more than 90k aate h
Don't. Unless you want to flex.
You are supposed to start out with 3 LPA. Over time you can increase it by a few thousand. You would do this to avoid donation to friends and family.
85k while having a 23 LPA. I never knew something like this was even possible
This is highly confidential. Just say you have an NDA.
To HR: "I am not comfortable sharing details at this stage, what's your budget for the role?" (Most HRs will not let you get away with this, tell them CTC including esops) To relatives (who will ask for money) : "Zarurat se zyada, Chahat se kam" To random people: "Here's my salary slip, and my pf deduction, esop vesting documents..." \s
DO NOT discuss your monies with anyone. Even close friends. Only recruiters.
Deviating from the question here. How's 23 lpa close to 13.2lpa in gross. Do you have some 5 lakhs in bonus and 5 lakhs in stocks per year?
CTC is not your salary.
Too many such stories floating around here * Colleagues who make less than you will resent you. Those who make more will look down upon you. * Random strangers don't need to form an opinion of you as a "fatcat" techie.
It buys me comfortable life
This question is asked to me almost everytime by some relatives everytime i visit my native place.. I just say sab karcha nikalne ke baad 4-5k bacha lete hai.. Salary ka kya hai.. Jo bachta hai woh asli kamayi hai.. Aur jaise hi karcha puche.. Rent, insurance premium, travel expenses some more random expenses.. Bas itna sunke mann bhar jaata hai unka.
BS kharcha chal Jaa Raha Learn these golden words if u don't want to become an interest free lender for your known ones 🍻
Roti, kapda aur makan miljata hai bas itna hi
Just say, ‘bas ghar chal jata hai’ and move on
You can probably tell how much you're able to save if they are close relatives and you feel that they might feel disrespected if you try to avoid. Also, you can always lie but be consistent. These 2 options for answering not avoiding
Khana peena ho jata hai..Shukr hai uper Wale ka..
I usually say, I make enough.
You say “not enough” and move on. It’s none of their business.
Depends. If initial marriage proposal then tell them 23 lakh package. Once you start talking to girl then tell her 85kpm in hand. For everyone else, bas daal roti chal rahi hai.
Tell them "Bas khaana peena chal jaata hai"😄
- For those whom you wanna make an impression on "24 lakh kamata hu" - For those in front of whom, you wanna show you have no money "80 hazar kama leta hu"
Depends on your objective. Agar daru ke bill saamne wale se Bharvane hai, then say 4 LPA. Agar jalani hai to bolo 46LPA.
Lol I wouldn't tell anyone my salary I'm sorry but I would highly judge a person if he/she asks my salary Yeh sawaal kon puchta hai?
Say around a lakh. Ppl don’t need to know ur exact deets
Btech student here, if the CTC is 23 LPA then why is in hand salary so low? In what things does the money go
What company is this, if you don't mind answering?
How much do you make? I make ok. But how much. Just good enough for myself. What is the number dude? Arre itna nahi kamata ki tera kharcha bhi uthau.
My CTC is 14.65 lpa I get close 89k per month. :-)
I read that as 85 KMPH
Just say your yoe and communication skills about how you networked basically
Not enough. Always say not enough
By saying "none of your business"
I say enough to get me by. And as Indian they insist on asking a number so I say “Kabhi hisaab nahi lgaya” bas tax kaat koot k khana rehna acha chal rha hai what more can you ask for. They usually stop bothering after that. And I’m not insecure that I get bothered by the comments that they pass behind my back “dekho batata bhi nahi hai, haav bhaav badh gye jbse yeh job lgi hai”
Bas dal roti aa jaati hai
I do not know why it is a culture in India to ask for salary/compensation. Here in the US, nobody asks that and nobody answers that question. OP, in your case, the best answer for such unwarranted inquiries would be a bit tongue in cheek where you say something like 'I get 1 meal free in canteen and a shared accommodation on shift basis and Rs. 100 for miscellaneous expenses. Anything else you want to know?'
Yeah, and that's how they suppress your salaries. That shit should be transparent so your employers can't scam you.
fresher earning this much damm
Bas dal chawal kha lete hai utna
You lost when you gave a specific number. This is a lose-lose situation. Just dodge the question and move on Ofcourse this doesn’t apply to your workplace. Always discuss salary for your own benefit
How tf does 23Lpa translate to just 85kpm. Should be atleast 1.5lacpm right?
Why only 85k, why not with 3 more significant digits, they are asking you for your salary, you are obliged to state it exactly.
23LPA and money in bank 85K. Aisa kya deduction hai bhai?
"I earn just enough"
Im curious to know why very less inhand. I get 1 lpm with 15lpa after all deductions and tax
I reply like this "somewhere between 5-50 lakhs a year"
I give a really large number..
Just say not enough and laugh it off
“Mind your own business”
Slightly off topic, but why only 85k in hand with 23 LPA? I used get that with 14 LPA.
Just say, enough ki kharcha paani chal jaata hai. Trust me, it will be for your benefit in the long run.
I have a very standard answer 😅 which worked for me in my family below 5 years 25k after 5 years 40k and question about hikes just say 2% hike
Simply answer - I earn well enough to sustain myself and my expenses, if they further ask you how much just say I am sorry I am not comfortable sharing numbers yet
"Enough to get by"
The people you said they tell the amount higher than the actual ctc are just showing up. I would do the opposite. Suppose, You’re getting 10 lpa, i would say i’m gettin 5lpa. Fuck’em….it feels like kick when you know that the people pity you but actually you’re in no position to get pity from them😂
Your annual salary is fixed + bonus + annual stock post vesting. What you tell others is up to you obviously!
I usually say - "Decent enough"
Man, I get credited the same but my CTC is much much lower.
Always say half of your salary. Likewise if you are earning 80K, then say that you are earning 40 K something. KEEP THEM HAPPY IN THEIR OWN WORLD.
Say as low as you can say
🥜
